Both my husband and I opted for the Price Fixe 4 course dinner which was more of a tasting menu, $55.00 per person and absolutely delicious it started with a generous salad, a cup of ginger carrot soup, choice of entree and chocolate chip cookies with tahitisn vanilla milk for desert. We both had the NY steak . Every bite was delicious. We were very content but I will add if you have a large appetite you might be better ordering off the main menu. This was our second time at Heritage, and it reminded us why we came back. The food was great, the service was attentive and friendly, and the whole place has a cozy atmosphere that makes you want to linger longer than you need to for a delicious meal. We were a party of four with no reservation, and everyone really enjoyed their dishes. One meal needed a bit of tweaking, but our server handled it immediately and without any hesitation ~ which honestly made needed "tweak" irrelevant. Professional, quick, and appreciated. There is something comforting and local when dining at Heritage Restaurant & Bar. Located on a busy section of Clement Street in San Francisco's Inner Richmond neighborhood, Heritage Restaurant & Bar has been around for this close to a decade taking over from the Clement Street Bar & Grill. A slightly elevated interior that still resembled the interior of a boat, complete with wooden booths, an elevated bar area, and a private dining area that is open for the rest of the restaurant to see and hear from, Heritage Restaurant & Bar is the brainchild of owner an chef Cameron Lewark, who took his experience working for celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck in his restaurants in both Southern California and Hawaii into his own local establishment where singles and families alike can enjoy a nice drink or hearty meal. It was the latter that brought me and two friends here on a cold autumn evening, as Heritage Restaurant & Bar was participating in San Francisco Restaurant Week for fall of 2025, where local restaurants offer multi-course pre-fix menu items sold at affordable prices, in this case Heritage Restaurant & Bar was offering a four-course meal for 45 dollars a diner. With this many courses being sold at such an affordable price point, we were sold on visiting Heritage Restaurant & Bar for the very first time. Online reservations were easy to make, which wasn't necessarily needed as there was no host to greet us to or check if we had reservations, as their bartender instructed us to find an open table, in this case a booth, to sit at. Our booth would be inundated from the sounds from the private party dining in their not so private room, as a large party was clearly enjoying themselves with a night of merriment. It would take a considerable amount of time for our server to even make an appearance at our table as our table of three chalked it up to having so few employees on staff, as exemplified by the lack of a host upon our initial arrival. Thankfully their regular menu had their San Francisco Restaurant Week menu encompassed within in and they were already placed on each table. The pre-fixe San Francisco Restaurant Week menu had four courses with a salad, soup and dessert course with the option to choose from three courses for our entrée. Our first course was their Romaine Salad with Creamy Lemon Dressing which was served with pickled red onions, cherry tomatoes, sour dough croutons and topped with a creamy lemon Caesar dressing. Our second course was their Creamy Kabocha Pumpkin Soup which was a combination of sweet onions, cinnamon, clove, agave, and topped with cardamom honey cream. For our entrée, we had three options and I selected their Grilled New York Strip Steak which was served on a bed of bleu cheese mashed potatoes with baby turnips and celery root topped with bourbon mustard pepper corn sauce. Another diner in our party ordered their Pan Roasted Salmon which was served with butter nut squash, pearl onions, garlic spinach, Nueske's bacon, fingerling potatoes, and topped with fall spices and brown-butter white wine sauce. For our dessert course, we enjoyed their Chocolate Chip Banana Bread which was served with a half slice of a brown sugar caramelized banana and cinnamon spiced milk chocolate ganache. Of our vast meal, the first two courses were the best, as the salad and soup were so lovingly prepared it actually surprised all three of us diners. The salad was a nice combination of flavors that if it was a bigger salad, that would have been a big enough meal for me to enjoy. Their soup, although on the smaller side, was delicious combination of flavors and perfect for a chilly autumn evening. Then our entrées would be delivered to our table, and our steak entrée was beautifully plated in true California cuisine style, as perhaps we were expecting something a little more hearty. The bleu cheese in the mashed potatoes was a little overbearing but the sliced steak was nicely prepared if a little on the lukewarm side. Our dessert course too was beautifully plated and the star of this particular meal was their caramelized banana which blended so well with the small slice of banana bread. Obviously our total bill was on the more affordable side with 135 dollars before gratuity and tax were included as the meal was priced under their San Francisco Restaurant Week prices. Although they do have some service issues, as we were never acknowledged even as we left, I would still return to Heritage Restaurant & Bar for the affordability alone as no dish was over 39 dollars including our Grilled New York Strip Steak. At Heritage Restaurant & Bar they are serving quality dishes plated with a California cuisine sensibility, and in an area of the city where this entire aesthetic is sorely lacking, they are a welcome addition that hopefully will last as long as its predecessor. read more

Great place to watch in the outer Richmond. The variety of food on the menu was great. There's service was ok as it seem like there was 1 waiter for the entire place that also works the bar. But they do check in on you. Got the steak as they said that was a popular item and it was worth it. The meat was tender and cooked to perfection with its veggies. The garlic fries were excellent and flavorful and crispy. The mocktail was eh was not a fan. I tried some incredibly delicious potatoes at this place today, and I have to say--it's definitely worth a try.

I remember this dining at this location when it was the Clement St Bar & Grill. A friend was hosting his birthday dinner and I was looking forward to dining at Heritage, which is the current restaurant at the location. Reviewing Yelp reviews and the current menu online, I had an idea what I was going to order. Our party of 12 was sat in a private room in the back left but since it had glass walls, it did not feel secluded since you could still see into the dining room. We perused the menu and I noticed that it was an updated from the online menu and the menu posted by the entry. I was happy with this menu. Our host ordered appetizers for the table, which consisted of: Sweet Corn "Ribs" with chili aioli, powdered fermented hot sauce and cotija cheese. This corn was cut into wedges or "ribs" lengthwise. This was their take on Mexican street corn. You take a rib and bite of the kernels. Corn was sweet and I love the salty tangy cotija cheese. Garlic Fries with confit garlic, paprika and parsley with ketchup on the side. Nicely seasoned medium sized fries. Fried Brussels Sprouts with Lemon Aioli. Fried crispy, but didn't care for the lemon aioli. Corn Bread with raspberry butter and Meyer lemon honey strips. Bread came out warm so I spread the raspberry butter over the top to lead it melt onto it and cut the bread into slices. Corn bread was moist and the slightly tart butter was a nice complement. I was so happy when I saw the Heritage Pork Chop was on the menu after reading Yelpers review on it and hearing our waiter saying it was his favorite entrée. Yes, I was glad I ordered it as the tender and moist pork chop came with herb polenta, green beans, sweet soy, plum wine reduction and apricot chutney. I would order this again. So entrees ordered by others around me were the Prime Beef Bolognese, Grilled Top Sirloin and the large Bone-In Ribeye for Two. They were all happy with their entrees. Our two birthday honorees were served Heritage Milk and Cookies with a birthday candle. Nice gesture. Our server did a great job being the only person waiting on us, from taking the orders, bringing the food, clearing the plates and serving the two desserts. Glad I was able to try Heritage. Some friends picked this neighborhood restaurant and bar to celebrate their joint birthdays on an early Saturday evening. My friend made a reservation a week or so in advance so we had a private room in the rear left corner of the restaurant. Our party of thirteen was seated on a long table with one of the guest of honors seated at the head of the table. The dining area is in the center, between our private room and the bar, guessing about 4-5 tables. Our waiter Christopher was helpful and friendly in providing recommendations. It seemed a bit difficult for him to handle our dinner party on his own as he served all of our food alone and refilled our table glass water bottles when requested as removing our bowls and plates. There was a minor technical problem when serving the two desserts with birthday candles but otherwise everything went smoothly. One of the hosts commented that it is too bad that they don't serve lunch but, given the dining climate and their likely image of being more of a bat than restaurant, I understand why. First off, the actual restaurant and the fireplace were so cute, very romantic and love the dim lighting. The service was also incredible. The servers and host were fabulous and attentive, and I got to meet the owner, and he was so kind. Bonus that the owner seemed like he enjoys being on the ground working with the people; and loved that he complimented me and my date. Cocktails were fabulous and very creative; probably one of the few nice cocktail bars out in the Richmond district. The food was very flavorful. My date got the steak and that was cooked with very nicely, although I think it could have use a little more chimichurri. But I got the prime rib bolognese pasta (I think that's what it was called) and that tasted so good; not as heavy as I thought it was going to be. We shared their ahi tuna, which tasted so fresh, and the dessert we got was decent (I'm not totally big on super sweet desserts but this was fine). Came to this place around 5:20 on a Tuesday during the Mailards pop up (every Tuesday 5-9!) the line was probably about 7 people ahead of me at the time, but by the time I got seated there was a line out the door! The line for Mailards is separate for just sitting at the bar. On Tuesday nights only food from Mailards is pumping out of their kitchen too. Anyway, it was $13 for this special Thai curry smash burger and maybe I was just out of this world, but this burger is probably easily the best burger I've had in sf. The crispy shallots along with the Thai curry sauce was such a good touch to their double burger. The fries are fried in beef tallow and cost an extra $5, but this was a lot of food and I couldn't finish even half the fries. Big fan of this burger! read more

I seated myself, and waited and waited and waited. Again, all three servers ignored me (not even making eye contact) while they continued to serve other patrons. I walked out. I hope this review helps others avoid wasting their time, energy, and money. Sunday, 8:30 PM | Party of 9 (3 teens, 6 adults with a reservation) I had made this reservation to celebrate with visiting family and my niece. We were looking forward to a special evening. Unfortunately, the experience left us all disappointed and I embarrassed to have chosen this spot. When we arrived, there was no acknowledgment of our reservation. No greeting with a name, no confirmation--just confusion. Still, we were seated in a semi-private room, which might've been a nice touch for a group of our size... but that's where the positives ended. The most upsetting moment came when my sister ordered the hamburger. Our server, Cameron, responded mockingly, saying he thought she asked for a "barber." Why would anyone ask for a barber when ordering food at a restaurant?! He might've thought it was a harmless joke, but it landed as ignorant and ABSOLUTELY UNPROFESSIONAL - especially given that my sister speaks with a Japanese accent. Three other guests had already ordered burgers without any issue or remark, making the comment feel targeted and frankly inappropriate. It makes me wonder how other patrons are treated considering this restaurant is located in a neighborhood with a large community of Chinese, Japanese, and other people of Asian descent. Comments like Cameron's--even when played off as jokes--reflect a lack of awareness and sensitivity that's completely unacceptable. We then waited about 45 minutes for our entrees. When they finally arrived, HALF were cold. The garlic fries that came with the burgers would've been great had they been hot. The bolognese pasta was solid. The carbonara? Skip it. The standout of the night was the brussels sprouts. Oddly, our server reappeared partway through the meal wearing red-tinted glasses, adding to the disjointed vibe of the evening. Throughout the meal, basic service fell apart: no water refills, empty pitchers, and no one checking in. One of our guests had to get up and search for someone--anyone (still, just Cameron)--to help us request our check. All in all, this was an unfortunate, uncomfortable experience. They show the wines origin as reference for each type; something in more "upper" bars if that makes sense. But that's not to say this bar is snobby or whatever. The homie goes she'll have the burger well done and the partner corrects and says no you should do medium. Instantly we including the bartender reacting in a mocking teasing way. To finish the story for your reading closure, the one placing the order ended up getting what they wanted. Handcrafted soup and a warm fire and seasonal ingredients make delicious twists on their staple plates. My favorite glass of wine, great conversations and cookies and milk are a must each visit. Last night I devoured corn ribs, sweet corn soup, cornbread and a fresh watermelon salad and (in my best Jennifer Coolidge voice) "it tastes like the 4th of July". The corn ribs fused Asian karaage with Mexican elote in the best of ways. The sweet corn soup had hints of basil and it was sooo creamy good. The cornbread was so moist since they let the lemon honey and blueberry compote soak in when it's warm. I had my favorite Whitehaven Sauvignon blanc (crisp and refreshing) while my bf had an aperol spritz and it complemented the summery goodness of the meal. Been a while, but came for a recent visit with the whole family to celebrate mom's birthday. We arrived a little early, but were seated quickly. Most of us already knew we were going to go for the Chef's tasting menu ($48), which included: 1) Heritage Wedge Salad - no complaints since Wedge salad happens to be one of my faves. Love the pickled onions. 2) Summer Tomato Soup - probably my fave. So flavorful and creamy. Would've loved another bowl. 3) Pan Roasted Salmon or New York Steak - hubs and I got one of each so we could share. Portions were generous. Love the crispy skin of the salmon and that lemon sauce. Steak was cooked perfectly medium rare. Hubs liked the potatoes. Both were very good. 4) Milk and cookies - each plate came with a little cup of vanilla milk and 2 warm cookies. Chocolate chip, which is the hubs' fave. Best way to end the meal. Must note, we also appreciated the Kids Menu offerings ($12), and the fact that they brought the kids' meals out way in the beginning to ensure they were fed so the rest of us could enjoy our dining experience. Given our large party, food took some time to come out but we understood time was needed to prepare the meals so that they all arrive at the same time. So glad to have this gem in the Inner Richmond! Don't be worried that this is just a bar establishment. The food and the service was top notch and we were very happy with how family friendly it is. The kids menu has wonderful selections like steak, chicken and pasta - which are just smaller portions of the adult entrée items but tweaked just a little bit for the children's palate. We had the tasting menu and felt it was a great value at $48 for 4 courses. The soup was a summer corn soup which was delicious, the watermelon salad was fresh and a great combination of flavors, we loved the NY strip and the dessert was 2 big warm chocolate cookies with a vanilla milk for dipping. Intended to arrive for Happy Hour (ends at 5pm), however didn't make in time so we decided to partake in dinner, which was okay. We had watermelon salad (one of my faves), pork belly noodle (of course the fried belly was the star), and Prime Flatiron (cooked med, asked for med rare). Recommend Happy Hour. We were seated quickly and greeted. We ordered drinks. Waited. Ordered food to a waiter who initially said he wasn't our server and then came back and said he was. Still no water and no drinks. There was a large group seated next to us. After being ignored from the time we ordered (server didn't write down our order) to the time we asked if our salad was on its way it was forty five minutes. The server told us that the big group was about to be served and it should be 10-15 minutes more. At that point I realized that they all knew this the whole time we were seated but didn't apologize. I booked a reservation to catch up with some of my oldest friends and younger sister. Before we even got to the restaurant my sister looked up the menu and texted me "this restaurant and its menu is EXACTLY what I need" and she wasn't wrong! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, plus their recommendations are spot on! My steak was cooked perfectly and the peppercorn sauce was delicious. The creamed spinach was super well done with the spinach still tasting fresh and bright and the potato cake had a great consistency with a smoky flavor. My sister and my friend really enjoyed their pork chops (thanks for the recommendation Chris!!) and my other friend loved the housemade tagliatelle prime beef bolognese. We ordered cocktails that were balanced and tasty and we were grateful that the restaurant allowed us to bring in a bottle of wine. This place is great! I was having a super long day and they went out to their way to accommodate me. They have really good options for vegetarians and a cozy vibe. "OK" sums it up for my group. Heritage was definitely not "make a special trip" for any of us, it was more "If I'm a block away and want a steak." The service was very good; food, meh. If you're visiting Clement St. (checking out Green Apple Books, etc.) I would strongly recommend the French or Burmese places down the block, Chapeau or Burma Superstar, both of which are worth a special trip (as is Green Apple by the way, one of the nation's great bookstores). There's spacious public parking on Eighth Ave. about 100 feet south of Clement and another big public lot on Ninth same distance south of Clement across the street from the beautiful public library. Great dim sum at Good Luck Dim Sum a couple doors from Heritage. Hamburger Haven at Ninth and Clement has a lot of funky charm, good food, and reasonable prices. read more

me and my family have been coming to heritage since 2020. We no longer live in San Francisco, we now reside in Marin county just over the Golden Gate Bridge, and we still make the effort to come out to heritage when we get the opportunity. Heritage has a cozy, warm ambiance, and the staff are friendly. food reqs, I personally love the steak with potatoes substitute for garlic fries and finishing with the toasty chocolate chip cookies with the warm vanilla milk. good eats! read more
