White Cap is a popular Sunset cocktail spot that I've tried to check out several times before my recent visit. Sadly, parking in this area is extremely difficult. Good news is Muni's T line passes by right outside and makes it convenient, easy, and safe to take public transportation (a better choice when having cocktails anyway). There was only one other party inside when we arrived on a Friday afternoon. The bartender was friendly, handed us menus and let us know to order at the bar when ready. I tried the Hollaback Girl and the White Cap Martini. I would order both again. I really enjoyed White Cap and looking forward to my next visit. read more

My sister and I have been looking for a chill and laid back bar to wind down at and White Cap is the perfect place to cap off your night. I ordered their Oaxaca Flame and this is one of the best cocktails in the city right now. It has the right amount of booze with a kick from the arbol chile. I also really liked their old fashioned and their play on an espresso martini. The staff is really nice here and the ambiance is very chill. I would definitely recommend this bar for a date night or time to catch up with friends. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to discover this bar in my neighborhood quite close to Ocean Beach. The atmosphere is quite laid back but not super casual. I got 2 or 3 drinks here, and the alc in each was deceptively masked by fruity infusions. Ordered their negroni - matched up against any other IMO - because it was Negroni Week (i.e., Sept 22-28). The place is welcoming with friendly bartenders/mixologists who helped create the menu (i.e., not hired cocktail consultant to do so). The front setup is like a typical bar but further in there are sofas and comfortable seats, with a fireplace! If you cannot get to the cocktail bars downtown this spot is a very good substitute. Really love this spot! The inside is cute, the fireplace is cozy and the bar tenders are really nice. They remade my drink after I mentioned I didn't like it, made good recommendations, and were accommodating. It's never super crowded in there either, which is great. Their crab chips are bomb (when they have them) and their cocktails are good! I'm not the biggest fan of their fall menu but the classics are good to order. Came here after reading about this bar and its cozy fireplace. We ended up coming on a warm afternoon, so we actually opted to sit outside in the parklet. On a Saturday afternoon the inside had a low key and casual, yet still classy vibe, while the outside was very casual. Their menu had a handful of specialty cocktails, some highballs, and some liquor centric classics. They also had a huge liquor selection. I opted for a specialty cocktail - the MOMA, and my boyfriend a classic - the maple hammer. We both really liked the flavor of our drinks and their presentation. Also enjoyed watching them be made. The service here was really great! Unfortunately I didn't get our bartender's name, but shoutout to him because after my bf spilled much of my drink he was happy to replace it for us! This nonchalant neighborhood bar is zee best! With their seasonal rotation of their menus, you'll never get bored. It doesn't get too busy given the location so absolutely perfect for a chillaxin' day to boost up. Nice staff and most of all, delicious and beautiful drinks! This is one of my favorite bars in SF. I love the drinks and ambience here. They have a menu that changes periodically and their current one is themed around SF and its history. The drinks are tasty and inventive and the interior looks upscale but the vibe remains casual and relaxed. For those who love cozy fireplaces, they have a nice fireplace! 30 plus year OB native, Big Rob here. Was chillin feeding my 10 day old son on the rocks outside White Cap around 4:20 today. Red haired female bar tender comes outside to set up chairs and tell us we gotta move so they can start serving drinks on the street area at 4:30. What's better for the neighborhood? Being able to sit for 30 min and feed your baby without being shuffled around. Or people drinking on the street. Where's my OB locals at let's get this place cleaned or moved out. The disrespect is real. Also, the Musubi next door sucks, worse than any Hawaiian gas station and charges 6 bucks. read more

While looking for parking around White Cap, dude in a benzo created his own parking space...just to get a drank here. Hey, IF Mr. Jack Daniels is callin', you gotta do what you gotta do! Those who live in the city know the struggles of having to follow behind the street sweeper truck just to get a parking space. I've seen someone put out a stationary bike just to "reserve" a parking spot. Obvs not a Peloton because that would have been gone in 60 seconds! Anyhow, Hotline brought me to White Cap. Since I was making the trek to Parkside, I figure I hit up two locally owned spots - HH at White Cap and Hotline for dinner. White Cap is a trendy hipster bar serving craft cocktails. They have indoor and outdoor seating on the terrace. Dog-friendly inside and outside. M E N U Cocktails ($14), Beers ($5-$8), and Wine by the Glass ($13-$16). No food served but they're cool with you bringing food from neighboring restaurants. There's a convenience store across the street if you want to get some drunchies/snacks. D R I N K S I'm basic so had three different gins on the rocks (Hendrick's and two small batch ones recommended by the bartender). They were served over a collins ice cube to not dilute the gin. Usually, I prefer small batch liquor but the ones available were too perfume-y and juniper forward so I would stick with Hendrick's next time. My friend had three greyhounds made with grey goose. Six drinks plus a soda was $80 pre-tip...very reasonable for SF standards. S E R V I C E Chill and prompt. A M B I A N C E Trendy with rustic touches and a fireplace. 90s hip hop playing. First drink we ordered was the Botanist Negroni made with The Botanist Gin, Campari, and White Caps' own special Vermouth, served on a nice large rock. Definitely exceeded expectations. When you first come into this hidden little gem on Taraval you don't notice the back area ... there is a warm fireplace, comfy beautiful blue colored bench back chairs and stools. The main bar is where most patrons come up to first. There you'll find a drink list and the l specials on the chalkboard above. The drinks are exceptional, handcrafted, and well balanced. Although sultry inside, the place is actually quite casual because well, it's the beach. I think it's the perfect place to meet somebody for a drink on a first date; which I've gone on, and or, after a walk down the beach path. It's conveniently nestled in with the Underdogs too Mexican restaurant where you can bring in a bite if you like. I had the house Paloma and my friend a nice Jefferson Reserve whiskey. I never write reviews but was really upset after what transpired on 9/14. Used to love this place but NEVER coming again. Drunk girl tried to hog the bar seats. As we entered, bartender told us one seat was free so we proceeded to sit. Drunk girl said that seat was saved too. Fine. We get up and stand. A guy and his guest were leaving so he told us we could have his seats - great! Drunk girl then changes her mind and says she wants those seats instead. Bartender (girl with short hair) rolls her eyes along with drunk girl when I tell her no - we want to sit on those seats. I caught looks several times between the bartender and drunk girl as we scan the menu. Super unwelcoming and not getting my business or tip. We immediately left. We both ended up getting the Murphy Manhattan: larceny bourbon, lustau vermut, dale degroff, pimento bitters. All cocktails here are $12. It was a decent cocktail. Smooth and good for sipping. The vibe here is very chill and laid back. You can definitely have a few rounds while catching up with a friend. My gf and I were going to have dinner with some friends nearby, so we only stayed for the one round. Small, cute cocktail bar in the Outer Sunset / Parkside. Not the best cocktails I've had, but okay for a bar in the Avenues. Would have loved to see the bar with the fireplace on, but maybe I'll find myself back here on a cold night. Not too many "upscale" cocktail bars out near the beach so we were excited to try this bar on a nice Saturday afternoon. Place was somewhat busy--2/3 bar stools taken, half the outdoor tables taken. Single bartender was a bit overwhelmed. We were patiently waiting for him to finish up his previous orders so we could order drinks for an outdoor table, but then he mixed drinks for two people at the bar who had come in well after us. Didn't greet us, acknowledge us, or thank us for waiting. The drinks were underwhelming. The Maple "Sugar Sledge" Hammer was way too sweet. I tried to let the ice (a nice clear cube) melt as much as possible before drinking, but that ended up diluting the Wild Turkey flavor along with the sugar. And I like watching a bartender craft a cocktail as much as the next guy, but seeing him finger and press each orange peel garnish as he trimmed them while still handling money, going to the back for more liquor, etc. was kinda gross. Overall it was good enough for a Sat afternoon, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more

Worst bar in the neighborhood. Walked past and upon seeing it being almost completed empty my group of 6 decided to go in and grab a drink. The bartenders were incredibly rude the entire time. They rolled their eyes every chance they got. One person in the group spilled a cup of water and the bartender THREW a soaking wet towel from behind the bar at us and told us do wipe it up. We were then told last call was at 10 pm by the bartenders who then proceeded to continue serving to drinks to other people for another 2 hours. Skip this place and go straight to riptide. read more
