My experience has always been great at this Hermes location. The staff here is particularly attentive. If for whatever reason they don' t have my size, they'd order my stuff and have it arrive promptly at my doorstep. (Case in point: latest purchase was a chain link bracelet I bought for my boyfriend). Just purchased evelyne 33 bag at south coast plaza in Costa Mesa. It was horrible experience from sale man, #118342 Yi. I was getting one for my wife. We didn't get any welcoming, even though he saw us directly. Till we asked about that bag, no greeting or any. Only reason I paid today, because my wife doesn't want to wait more days for online order. Asked us fill out our information without any eye contact or smile. At the final, hand me a bag at the cashier with saying THANK YOU.That was the only positive words from him today. Located at South Coast Plaza, down the same wing as Nordstrom, specifically a few doors down from Chanel. Hermes is a brand of true luxury. You have to be a real fancy high maintenance gal (or guy) to shop here, lol (or go broke afterwards... I am definitely more of the latter). The handbags here are truly timeless and classical, it will never go out of style. I want to review my most recent experience with this particular location (this review is long overdue). I came in on March 30 to bring my beautiful vintage (gosh I am old) Kelly cleaned up by use of their spa services. Upon entering the store (sometime before noon on a Wednesday), I saw 4 sales associates right in front of the entrance just talking among themselves. I approached the group of sales associates and Theresa walked over and asked how she could help me. I showed her my bag and told her that I wanted to get it cleaned up at the spa (my poor Kelly bag was in some bad shape, cosmetically wise, not structure/ built of the handbag wise). She told me that they can probably clean up the majority of the markings (sadly there were a handful of pen marks on my beloved bag) and dirt but it won't be 100% better (but that often times the bags will come back 80% better, depending on the condition). She originally had quoted me about $340 but said that it may be higher if the person cleaning my bag may need to do additional work. But that I would be contacted from Hermes to get my approval for additional work needed if that ends up being the case. Because there is no "spa" at this location, they have to send the bags out to the Beverly Hills location. By the way, when a bag goes to the spa here, they can also repair your bags as well. She told me that typically it takes anywhere from 1-2 months. She said that if there are other people ahead of me that are currently be worked on, that will take additional time. And of course there is some time for shipping to and from to take into account. After I gave her my bag and filled out a short form of my personal information, I just walked around to just browse and see what was around on display. Theresa walked close by just to make sure if I needed any help and told me that she would be more than happy to help me see anything in a display case, etc. Anyways, about 1.5 weeks later, I was contacted via email from Hermes (from this location) that my bag will probably be ready in about 8 weeks and that I will be contacted email or by phone when it is ready. Then later that day, the same person contacted me via email to let me know that I needed to repair a new clasp pin (which would cost $205) and that the inside pocket needed restitching (which will be done at no additional cost). I agreed to the replaced clasp pin, which brought my total for repair to $545. Then towards the end of April, (it only took just about 1 month for the repairs and cleaning for my bag to be done) I received a phone call from the store (this location) that my bag was ready for pick up. When I came to pick it up a week later, Thomas was at the front of the desk when I walked in (did not see a group of sales associates upon entering this time around). I told him that I was here to pick up my bag. Unfortunately I had completely forgot to bring a copy of the paper work I filled out and he said that I did not need it to pick up my bag. He just found my information on the computer and checked my ID and then went to the back to get my bag. He brought it out and let me inspect it. I thought it turned out better than when I brought it in and told him I will pay for the repairs/ spa treatment. While he rang me up, we just made small talk about our dogs in general. Thomas was a very friendly person and Theresa was helpful. I had a pretty good experience on this visit. But I do want to mention that later on I realized that the spa treatment to "clean up" the markings on my bag wasn't actually cleaned. Some kind of colored conditioner (that matched the color of my bag) was applied onto the bag and covered the markings instead of having it removed. I wished I was made aware of this before finding this out myself. I probably still would have paid for the services, but just wished someone would have informed me beforehand. But anyways, I think I will always be a fan of Hermes and plan on shopping here again in the near future. By the way, I think for the people whom have had terrible customer service at Hermes, they probably did not approach the sales associates and just expected to be waited on. Each time I came into this store, I walked in and made eye contact with a sales associate and just asked politely if I could be helped or what I was in here for. Immediately I was helped and believe that will happen again each and every time I come in here (so it's not just a fluke). So don't be intimidated to shop/ browse at this store. Come in and make eye contact and speak up and a sales associate should be willing to help you. read more

I'm pretty surprised by the negative reviews here because my experience been pretty pleasant. I only started shopping here (or any Hermes for that matter) last year and it's been by appointment only due to covid. I haven't met any of the other staff except for the friendly security guard and my sales associate, Naomi. I'm definitely not a big spender by Hermes standards, but Naomi has definitely treated me like I'm a valued client. She's been very easy to work with and is always very helpful with locating items for me. I've never felt pressured to buy anything either. The only downside to this location is that it pretty small and carries a lot less items. I think they're currently renovating a much larger space across the walkway from their current location. I have to say that my latest visit to this Hermès boutique was fairly good in comparison with my previous visits. We came into the boutique knowing what we wanted, the Hapi 3 MM bracelet, but unsure about what color to purchase it in. The store associate gave us a ton of options including a great variety of the iconic H bracelets. After the showing, we displayed some interest for one of the H bracelets and he got a tad pushy. He kept mentioning how there were only two of these left in the United States and he could create a special order for me if necessary. We ended up perusing the myriad of Hapi bracelets and went along with purchasing one in brown. This shopping experience was much more informative and personal than my previous shopping experiences at this Hermès; the associate actually took the time to explain the calfskin leather and inquire to as what the purchase was for. I didn't have to wait long for the transaction to be processed either and I was in and out within less than an hour. Three out of five stars for this particular visit. read more

The experience here during covid was pretty nice with exceptional customer service. In order to go in and shop, you will need to make reservations by giving the store a call. When I went on a Saturday, there were only 3 SAs and one customer per SA. You also get one hour to shop and then the store will shut down to be cleaned and sanitized for the next set of customers. I have been to at least 15 different Hermes stores around the world, and I have to say that South Coast Plaza location is by far the best in terms of friendliness and service. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is because their merchandise selection is not the greatest (maybe because they are so popular, and the added benefit of the sales tax being about 2 percent lower than in Beverly Hills). Our regular sales associate is Connie, and she has been more than helpful every time we show up (even in those occasions when we walked in just to browse). She has good advice on styles/colors, and won't hesitate to give her honest opinion at the times she thinks we are making a "bad" choice. Rafael, another SA, is a great alternative as well. Always happy to help. I think a lot of the reviewers have unrealistic expectations in getting the much sought after handbags (Birkin, Kelly, Constance) - they are desirable because Hermes limits availability artificially, and because of the high demand, they can dole out these bags to those customers they view as frequent buyers... for a first timer or somebody who has not built up a sales history, expecting to find one of these bags is quite hard to say the least (it has happened before, but I think these accounts tend to be more of urban legends than truth...). The store itself is well laid out, even if a bit on the small side compared to some of the flag ship stores (BH, FSH, Seoul, Ginza), but with the exception of the FSH, where you can actually have a good chance of snaring a desirable handbag with the added benefit of Euro pricing/VAT refund, South Coast Plaza is our preferred Hermes shop. read more

I brought an orange Hermes clic H bracelet on Feb. I found the edge of the bracelet is broken and try to return it today, which is less than a month. The manager refused to return the product and said there are many scratch on the surface and you may drop it, which is definitely not right. She also said it need to send to Paris and will take 6 to 8 month to exam. It's really a bad and I can't believe this most famous big brand has such poor customer service. The store was quite remarkable, despite being in a bad location at South Coast Plaza. Theresa Nguyen had approached me and was very courteous. I had a million questions and she never hesitated to answer them. I'm an a psychological person, and not once she showed any feelings of distain despite my lackluster appearance as I was coming from the gym. I ordered some items and she had them shipped to me. She has followed up since to ensure I received them and included a letter to me as well. The same service I would provide if she were my customer in one of my businesses. CONNIE is the absolute worst worker in the entire mall followed by the rest of the employees at this location. She is an older bitter Asian women so if you see her avoid her at all cost. I was in the store 2/13/17 around 8pm when I had my encounter with her. I was the only person in the store and nobody said hi or asked if I needed help for at least 10 mins. I picked up a bracelet and she comes running over saying loudly that I cannot touch and need an employee to assist me. Ok? So where were you when I first walked in? She then said the customers usually ask for help and that the employees don't approach the customers first. Really Connie?? You can't just put on a fake smile and be nice? I will never understand why people who work retail that work off commission act so arrogant to customers. There's a reason why this Hermes store is the lowest rated store in the mall. Just look at all the terrible reviews! Also had a terrible encounter about a year ago which required me to call corporate because it was so awful. I was in with a friend who was buy a belt and bracelet. While paying at the register, my puppy had an accident on the tile floor and one of the sales associates immediately yelled at me and screamed for the whole store to hear "and that's why you don't bring your dog in the store". The employee not only scared my puppy who was shaking, but also horrified me. I was so shocked that an Hermes employee would talk to a customer, who was paying at the register, like this. This place is a f-ing joke. Every other high end shop; Chanel, Louis, Dior in South coast plaza can have their *^% together and assist people quickly. This is the only place that has a line so bad people leave. I've been here twice now and they make you stand in line for hours. The sales staff moves as slow as Molasses in the dead of winter. Short staffed on a Saturday. No one even approached us and we had to ask for assistance and when we did the sales associate said she was busy. I happen to love little orange boxes (or big ones) better than the little blue ones. But the problem with that is, the people who work at the Hermes store will not let me purchase anything so I can obtain said little orange box! Why? They absolutely refuse to talk to me! I don't know what it is. I've literally been in this boutique 5+ times over the years in hopes of tracking down a Collier de Chien, but every single time I go in and politely say hello, the salespeople stare right through me as if I was some sort of homeless person they hope not to make eye contact with. And when I ask them for help, they literally pretend like they can't even hear me! These people act more like disgruntled minimum wage security guards than salespeople who sell $20,000 bags that never seem to exist except on those Kardashian people, let me tell you. If I could...0 stars. Extremely horrible service! My wife was edging me to buy her a purse and we were ready to buy one yesterday. After she researched and narrowed down the current fashionable styles, Hermes was one of them. Mind you, I haven't referred to yelp on its reviews. Came in wearing your summer clothes, shorts, sneakers, t-shirt with my wife and daughter. Not being pretentious or play out as a high roller, as we entered, the young americanized asian sales rep says hello while helping another white couple with bracelets. Ok, nice to be welcomed. After perusing around, my wife saw the purse and wallet that she researched. After the sales clerk finished with an older white couple, her friends walks in and started to chat. I can understand to say hello, how ya been, etc and get back to work within a couple of minutes. But no, she carries on about lunch at the restaurant, what did you have, did you see her, omg!...it continues while my wife was trying to patiently wait for her to finish. After about 5+ mins, I started hinting to go, because this is ridiculous. I started verbalizing that let's go because the service lacks. The security guard comes nearby, and see's that this ignorant biatch left her keys in the lock of the glass case, and returns it back to her. Seeing my lack of further patience, I nodded to my wife to just go interrupt her as as this time more people where eager to get some service as well. She does so while the security guard is there, and the biatch tells the security to get someone else to help her. I was pissed. While someone else was directed to us, a young japanese sale clerk from another dept comes and was confused. She was nice and may have been new, but could not answer some questions. Or may have been wondering why I'm in this dept while the other girl was chatting away. I told my wife to forget it and walked out. After checking out her other choices with the other various brands, it was LV. Walking out with several large shopping bags with their product, reminded me of the film, Pretty Woman on how she went back to the store with all this merchandise and throw it at her face who had mistreated her. Instead, I thought this review would've been enough. Nothing against their product, just the biatch that works there. Very unprofessional for such a high end store. Sometimes I wonder if people realize that we are in a recession, and that they work in high-end retail, perhaps not. I literally stood in the middle of the brightly-lit store for about seven minutes while high-fallutin Hermes employees looked at me like I was a mix of a parasite and a bag lady. Newsflash Hermes, looking like a glorified bag lady is super in right now, so the bag lady with good shoes you are ignoring may just be a rich lady from Newport or Stevie Nicks. Bottom line, go here if you can't go to Paris or Beverly Hills, and you still really want high-priced goods delivered with an attitude. I walked in to look around. I wanted to try out a belt but didn't know my size. There was a really nice sales associate who came over to help me. She measured me and went to grab my size. It actually was bigger than I wanted so we tried a size down. That was perfect. I didn't experience bad service as others have but maybe that's because I dressed up a little. Who knows?
