Recently utilized Herman Jackson's cleaners to get some coats, shirts and pants done for a pending event. Excellent job done with the actual dry cleaning. The staff was polite and attentive upon drop off and pick up. The cost for the 4 items I dropped off actually ended up being fairly reasonable as well. I was just a bit concerned about that as I wasn't told upon dropping them off. I was given the option of how quickly these needed to be turned around. Overall a very good experience. Nothing to do with Herman Jackson's, but parking is always an adventure in San Marco and it would be nice if they had their own parking. It would also be nice to have an idea of what the cost was going to be before leaving the drop off but the fact that it was reasonable more than made up for that. Great place to use of you need a dry cleaner in Jacksonville. I recommend you give them a try. read more

I have been going to Herman Jackson's for cleaning and hemming for many years. They always do a great job in the time frame that I need it done. The staff knows me by name and is always courteous. My toxic trait is that I've never taken anything to the dry cleaners before.... in my whole life! I always wash it on a delicate cycle and hope for the best. I recently bought a jumpsuit that cost too much for me to "wing it" in the washer, and I took it to Herman Jackson's Cleaners. I pass by this store often and knew it was there in case we ever needed a dry cleaner. I stopped in on a Friday at lunch time and there were 3 other people in the small store. The owner was friendly and took my jumpsuit. The cost was $13 and he said it would be ready on Wednesday. I liked that I could pay right then so pick up would be quick. I stopped back in on Thursday and he quickly brought my cleaned jumpsuit. It honestly looked like a totally different outfit without all the wrinkles from before. They took care of my piece and it was fresh and clean! Five star service. I will be back again soon! read more

My clothes came back clean, but the customer service honestly left much to be desired. When I dropped off my 4 articles in December, the owner tried to rush me off and said "it'll be ready in a week or two, we'll call you!" I asked for a quote. He said he couldn't quote without looking at the garments and he didn't have time. I asked for a ballpark, he said he didn't feel comfortable giving that but the price was reasonable. I said I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be paying $100 before I drop these clothes off. He balked "obviously it won't be that much." I said "How am I supposed to know? This is my first time seeing you." He gave me a rushed quote and I said I'd wait for the call that my clothes were ready. Truth be told, I wasn't in a rush for the clothes and kept running out of time to stop by (I'm on the road a lot). I figured I'd hear back eventually. I finally got a peeved phone call in April that my clothes were ready and I needed to come get them because they had been ready for a long time. Huh? This was the first phone call I was getting. I stopped by a few days later and the owner said "What took you so long?! We need to free up space for other orders, our shop is small." I said you JUST called me a few days ago. He said "Yes but come on, you should have known your clothes were ready. Takes two weeks max." Okay. I acknowledge I could have followed up, but for him to ridicule me over a situation that he had ownership over + the annoyance at me asking for a quote in the beginning is really not a good look. read more

Five star Fridays are in full effect as Herman Jackson's Cleaners came up clutch this week! I never would've found this gem if it weren't for Yelp and the glowing reviews from Elites. Hell, I've walked past this place dozens of times and never put two and two together that it was a dry cleaner. Anywho, I have a light jacket that has been resurrected since the cooler weather hit Jacksonville. I actually wanted to bring it on a work trip to Charlotte a few weeks back and noticed all these marks and stains. Once I returned to Jax and I immediately searched for dry cleaners on Yelp and discovered not only that Herman Jackson's Cleaners was a mile away, it was in the heart of San Marco. Say whaaaaat?! I brought the jacket here on Tuesday. The owner told me to come back Friday. Lo and behold, I show up a few hours early this afternoon and my jacket looks as good as new. I have never been to a dry cleaners so I avoided them because I don't want to 1) embarrass myself 2) do extra work 3) get charged too much. Herman's has settled these concerns! My husband needed his suit cleaned for a wedding. I called the shop and asked if I could drop it off and hopefully pick it up early the following day (yeah, it was last minute..). The owner was very friendly. He communicated well what to expect and the time frame of expectations. He marked all spots on the suit so we were on the same page as to what was there before the cleaning. Location is very easy for a quick drop off and pick up! Shop was very clean and you could tell they are keeping up with CDC guidelines because they have a plastic guard hanging, you can enter your credit card in for payment on your own, and hand sanitizer present on the counter. Checked with my husband who said the price was typical to what he's been charged for suit cleaning so overall a good experience! read more

I was looking for a dry cleaner near my place of employment and this came up on Yelp! While it is very difficult to find parking in San Marco plaza, it's just so cute I guess none of us mind, right? Anyways, the proprietor is super friendly and I thought this was an OK place for my dry cleaning UNTIL they sent me a welcome/thank you card. After that, I was sold--any business that takes the time to send me a real thank you card for my business using real mail is a really good find and I have gone back since. They do offer discounts for local residents and online deals so consider this place for dry cleaning, shirt laundering and alterations. read more

Very nice owner. My wedding dress was lost, however, when I took it in for cleaning/preservation. It took months to receive reimbursement (apparently, check was lost in the mail?). I finally was reimbursed for full cost of dress. I wasn't too attached to it, and was contemplating selling it anyways. Just mildly bummed that my daughter will never see it. When I mentioned it to a consultant when dress shopping for my sister-in-law, she said she had heard something similar happening to another person and believed it was the same place. I would give this "business" zero (0) stars if possible. By far the worst dry cleaners anywhere. Poor ironing, poor customer service, and complete savages when ironing. They destroyed one shirt (collar) and two shirts with buttons, ripped off the buttons on one shirt and on the other shirt broke one button in half. Not joking, the worst ever! Went to get items pressed only, the older guy working tried to over charge me. He literally made up prices for my items, $7 to press one pair of pants and $30 to press on curtain panel. If you live in the neighborhood and need simple dry cleaning, this is not a bad spot. I had three men's button down shirts, and I'm not sure if they were pressed/starched or dry cleaned even. Jury's still out. Had a bridesmaids dress altered with gemming and taking the straps in. The owner pinned where fabric needed to be taken in, and I was beyond skeptical and judged his pinning expertise. He does not alter it, but I believe someone else comes in or he sends it out? Anyway, I picked it up on Thursday and was going out of town Friday. I asked if I could try it on, and the owner said to me, it is not going to matter because I can't do anything about it anyway, it's too late to be re-altered, the person isn't here anymore for the day. It was just rude and not so friendly. I gen was fine, but the straps were all jacked up and I wish I went to someone else. Still in search for a good place for alterations and cleaning! read more

After 34 years I opened my perfectly preserved wedding gown. I had no expectations, after 34 years I didn't know what to expect. The box was taped , wrapped with plastic and paper wrapped once more. Finally opening the box I found layers of black tissue paper folded neatly. Every layer of the dress was folded softly with layers of the tissue in between, when I got to the bodice of the dress is was stuffed with the tissues including the cap sleeves. The shape had been preserved! Could not believe how beautiful the dress still was, too many memories for that moment came back...priceless! Very sweet owner- but not unusual dry cleaning. I just moved to the area and my old dry cleaner could get out any stain and was incredibly well priced. Herman Jackson's returned some of my clothes with a notice that they couldn't get a spot out...which is okay, but they're pretty expensive. I paid more to have my dry cleaning done in Jacksonville than I did in New York. Not sure whether I'll go back or not. read more

We had Herman Jackson clean our Anthropologie Duvet and they did a FANTASTIC job cleaning it along with some of my husband's dress shirts. Fast turn around and the owner was so charming! Great service! I have done my dry cleaning here a few times and I can never complain.They take care of my items and accommodate to time constraints. I also recently learned that they provide shoe repair services. They did an outstanding job on one of my favorite wedges and heels. Great help and he refused compensation. My wife were visiting Jacksonville a few days ago. While walking to San Marcos Plaza my wife unknowingly scratched her finger and it bled onto her Jacket. When she noticed it we were sitting on a bench a few doors away from Herman Jackson's. After she controlled the bleeding we went into the cleaners. The Gentleman immediately sprayed the several spots of blood and wiped them dry. We could not leave the garment to be dry cleaned because we were leaving the next morning.
