We were not getting hot water at the kitchen sink and assumed we needed a new hot water heater. I called Herrell Plumbing. The technician who came the next morning tested the heater and said it was working fine. Then he tested the kitchen sink water and the bathroom water. Only the kitchen sink was a problem. He then found that the hot water had been turned off under the sink (we just had a new refrigerator hooked up). Presto! No problem with the water heater. I pointed out that the very expensive Kohler faucet was leaking slightly at its base on the countertop. The tech, Eric, said that the Kohler faucet has a lifetime warrantee and gave me a number to call. The only charge was for the service call, so we saved the price of a new hot water heater and installation. Eric was interesting to talk to, VERY knowledgeable, a really nice guy--and HE MADE OUR DAY! The woman who answered the phone at Herrell also deserves a mention. What an honest and legitimate company! We had an emergency pipe repair on the main pipe coming into the house. They came same day and fixed it quickly. I asked him to look at our toilets (since we were experiencing high water bills )if he had time and he noticed that all the seals were bad, replaced them and fixed some other work that was poorly done by the previous plumbers. This is a mixed review. I've used Herrell Plumbing twice within a two month period for separate issues at the same address. To spare you the details I'll sum it up by saying that the techs they send out are great, they do their job quick, and diagnose issues rather quickly. The cost of this service is always something people are going to hate, but saving me a day of wasting time and playing with dirty sewage/pipe snakes is worth the $200 to resolve a clogged main drain. You can never expect a plumber to fix a hole which they will more than likely make to find a leak ( expect to call a handyman or repair the drywall yourself ). But the weak leg I've found to be with dealing with Herrell Plumbing is the ladies in the offices. Anything aside from scheduling a technician is beyond their capabilities. During my first call ( after finding them here on yelp ) and not wanting to deal with Emerald Plumbing from seeing them work on several projects, I called them up and scheduled a visit due to a clogged drainage system. Specifying that I would give a Credit Card number to confirm the appointment but that I would be in the same day to drop off payment in the form of a check to have it drafted directly from my bank account for these types of issues. The technician showed up and handled the clog within 30 minutes of arriving and was cool enough to call me giving me a heads up about what had gone on. I showed up to their offices as promised and dropped off a check to a woman working the office who didn't seem to know what property I was talking about. 3 weeks later and after noticing multiple attempts to collect the fee from my credit card I called up their offices but was told I needed to make payment. At this point I'm worried because ( who did I give my check to ? ). Turns out when I show up to their offices and speak to whoever I was able to find in one of the cubicles she's told that "oh here it is in the file, we JUST received it". Happy with their service at the house and having now a leakage issue with some plumbing I called them back up, after dealing with the technician they sent this time I was happy the issue was being diagnosed effectively. Unfortunately during a few call backs from myself requesting more info regarding a repair estimate, current charges, and more information regarding the issue I was told to hold and wait for a call " I'll call you back shortly". Well a day and a half later no call, so I called up the tech directly and dealt with him like I should have from the beginning. My advice, if you have specific payment requirements make sure to be clear and specific about your intent with the office staff. If you need to request more information aside from your appointment time/date, deal with the technicians directly, the office has no clue and will more than likely not contact you back. Maybe my $200-800 jobs are small potatoes for these people, so I won't be bothering them anymore with business from me. I'll risk it and call up the next company. 5 Stars for the tech's 2 Stars for the office staff. read more

The first time I used Herrell was when I chased the van down in my neighborhood because another company left me without water for 3 days, and I told TNT situation and he helped me out of the kindness of his heart!! T his time, my water heater exploded (literally). I was going to try on my own, (and thought better), decided to get quotes, and they were the best! From the amazing reception of their phone personnel to their techs; Lowest quote AND same day! Will showed up within 40 minutes of my call, prompt, polite and professional. While here, he also fixed and replaced my disposal that has been nonexistent for 7 months. we called in a sunday , hoping to get an appointment by monday because we were going to have visitors for the week. the plumber was here in 1.5 hours and took care of the issue quickly. we had had a different plumber come a year ago to fix the same issue, he charged us 3 times more and the issue was not completely resolved. Water heater was leaking, not too badly but enough that I thought I needed to get it done right away, so I called several plumbers. Herrell was the only one willing to give a quote over the phone so I had a different company come out for a free estimate, much much higher. I called Mike at Herrell back and he let me know that if I turned the water off at the tank and opened the line up to release pressure, it would stop leaking and be fine over night for the next day's appt. Tim just left and did a fantastic job installing the new heater. We would definitely use them again. read more

needed to replace my main line from the meter to the house-- I said I wanted it in copper-- they said they don't do copper-- I said I don't do PVC-- "plumber" got back in his truck and left. you know why? Smart guys, they know what they are doing, do a good job and even clean up after themselves. Love dogs, kids and can do just about everything. We found them on Angie's list when we subscribed to it. Horrible experience with Herrell Plumbing called last night at 11:45 P.M. ..My bathroom toilet overflowing with uncontrollable water, unable to shut off the valve, Mr Cerchiara explained the possible problem/s after three contact calls and I texted him pictures of the commode upon his request. He said that he was entering my address in his GPS and that he was on his way.. Approx.. 80 mins. later he had not arrived, I called him for an update no answer to the call waited another 60 mins. called again and no answer or response... and.. as of 1:22 P.M. Saturday, 3/26/2016 still no communication. If he was unable to come all he had to do was to say so and I would have been in contact with another plumbing company. I had used Herrell so years ago and had excellent service...Terrible experience will not call again... read more

Bobby arrived at my home promptly at 7:59 AM today. After inspecting my leak, he explained to me what he would need to do to fix it and the price. Half of the back flow pipe was rusted at the location of the leak. Bobby was very professional and courteous, not at all like the technicians at Tropical Plumbing who completed the installation. Have had two after hours plumbing incidents in a house we bought within a short period of time. Both times Herrell Plumbing called us back within 15 minutes . One emergency ( broken bath pipe at 9pm) we were able to solve ourselves. The other ( a back up) was taken care of quickly and for the amount estimated on the phone. Here's what you'll like: they answer their phone, they come when they say they are going to come, they call when they are on their way, they are professional, they do a good job. Schedule an appointment over an hour late and I call customer service to inquire on the delay. And response was just sit and wait.

I needed natural gas work done and Herrell was recommended. I called and told the girl answering the phone what I needed and said she would have to speak with her service manager in order to schedule an appointment. She said she would call back. She didn't. I learned from a neighbor that 2 days later a plumber showed up at my house without an appointment wanting to do the work. Of course he couldn't because I wasn't there. I called back spoke to another girl (perhaps the same one, who knows) told her about the guy showing up unannounced, and once again said she would have to speak to her service manager and call me back. Again, she never did. The next day I called Westbrook, and they came and did the work when they promised, in a very professional manner. I would never use or recommend Herrell again and would highly recommend Westbrook. read more

I am glad the other reviewers had a more positive experience with Herrell Plumbing than I did. They totally repiped my house in 1996 ($3500) using polybutylene pipe, pipe that they stopped making in 1995 because of numerous on-going problems and class action lawsuits. I didn't discover the issue until years later when I had insurance problem because of polybutylene. When I contacted Herrell about the issue, the service manager blew off my questions, telling me even if I couldn't get insurance coverage it was still great pipe, but did offer to give me an estimate for repiping the whole house again. Less than two hours after emailing the company for an appointment, a technician was at my home replacing the hot water heater. The technician was professional and competent. He offered to do a patch that would have cost less, but my heater was 14 years old, and I figured that it probably didn't have much life left in it anyway. And yes, I could have bought the heater from HD (or elsewhere) and installed it myself, but I never would have done as good a job with the installation as this fella. Top notch. read more

We needed a new gas water heater installed on 12/11/13. My wife did not want me to install it myself due to a fear of gas leaks. We deceided to use Harrell based on positive reviews. The plumbers showed up on time and were polite and friendly. However, after they left we could smell gas. We called the gas company to check for leaks. They didfind a leak at the connection to the water heater. The gas company fixed it for free. After calling and emailing the company did say they would discuss it with the plumbers that were on site. Look elsewere for dependable service. read more
