Where do I start? Let's start first with the $28/ person price tag.It was an AYCE which should have sent up red flag, but having the word Hershey on the sign, and being inside a hotel, I was willing to cast away my trepidation and give it the old tourist try. I am not cheap, I will gladly dole out a fat chunk of change for some delicious food! This my friends was not even close. The draw was Prime Rib, which for most including myself is enough to say take my money and give me a plate! The Prime Rib was greasy and tasteless. They did have fried chicken, my wife said was " Meh". I did not waste belly space as I was set to get my money's worth on the beef! They had Amish fair, but after opening the sauerkraut and sausage lid , I immediately slammed closed as it smelled worse than the parking area outside for the Amish horses! All the veggies were either canned or frozen. The soup was Crab or seafood that tasted like someone accidentally dumped 4 gallons of cheap white wine in it. It was Salad bar, Mac n cheese, powdered potatoes, and Baked Beans? Yep baked beans! They had pseudo Artisan bread that tasted like day old bakery bread. And WHO I mean WHO puts Cake Frosting on their bread? It was there! This pig had lipstick to be sure, but still a pig! Don't waste your time or Money. You'd be better off having someone punch you in the face and go eat at Shoney's , cause you will get the same food for about 20 bucks less per person! read more

Went today on a Sunday to try the buffet. The food was what I expected it to be. Soup and salad bar. I tried a seafood chowder which I liked. There was a grill area making food to order but the line was too long for me so I passed on that. The buffet was nice. It had chicken mashed potatoes pot pie shrimp fresh veggies including corn of the cob. No salt and pepper on tables. Had to use little portion packs. My issue was with service. Very slow getting to my table to get a drink order. She was very consumed with talking to a table of 4 across from me. They left her a big tip so she just saw dollar signs. I waited a good 15 minutes for my check so I could pay and leave. I think she saw that I was annoyed and gave me a discount. Not sure if I will return. Expensive too...$25 for one. Dessert bar was nice. So nothing wrong with food. It was service...the lack of it. read more

Well in Lancaster we visited the breakfast and dinner smorgasbord at Hershey Farm Restaurant and was highly disappointed. The omelets were undercooked and tasteless, and the french toast and bacon were burnt. In addition, the buttered noodles on the dinner buffet were very salty, as well as, there were no dinner rolls, and no honey barbecue chicken as advertised on the menu. holy mother-load of all that is deliciousness. Where do I begin? This is your one stop shop for all sites, smells and tastes of the Amish. And let me tell you, that is a good thing. It looks like a place you would see on the travel channels "Best unexpected rest-stops in the country part 2!" - When you come here, expect to eat, and then eat some more and oh wait, eat again. Make sure you have your game plan because there sure is alot to choose from. Beginning with the "appetizer" selection, they have salad, soup, breads and some fried balls of corn and other goodies. Amaze. Moving on to meat, they had chicken pot pie, bbq chicken, plain fried chicken, honeybaked ham, a carving station with some other meat, and a wide variety of different fish as well. Then comes the best part, the sides. Mac and cheese, crab au gratin, traditional amish stuffing, veggies, traditional mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and so much more. The sides are probably the best part in my book. Everything was fresh, from the earth and delicious. The finish off a wonderful meal, they have a variety of desserts like pies, cakes, their world famous "whoopie pie" and my personal favorite - hot PREZELS. Dont even ask how that is a dessert, just eat one and love it. Afterwards make sure you parooze (is this a word?) the general store for all of your chochtski-esque needs. This is a nice little Hotel on Route 896 AKA Lancaster Turnpike (I think). It is situated just a short drive down from the outlets and main shops and restaurants. The rooms are modern but have elegant, simple Amish charm. The restaurant portion has never been dull. Fresh and hot buffet or menu breakfast, lunch and dinner. RIPOFF! A tourist trap IMHO. Not worth all the wait to get in here. Actually, we waited 40 minutes to be seated! When we got our table I noticed there were quite a few empty tables in our area. What's that about? Dry fried chicken was the best thing they had , a meager and very limited salad bar, and similarly sad fare do not constitute a 'Grand Buffet' at 23 bucks a person. Honestly, most of the items they offered didn't look very good and tasted only so-so. The salad bar at my office has more options than this place! My husband Rick and I took our niece Allison and our nephew Brian to Strasburg for the weekend. After riding the Strasburg RR, and eating lunch in their dining car, Allison and I let the two railfans go explore the other railfan locations here while we did some sightseeing on our own. Really, I give this place five stars simply for the ambiance and experience. The food itself is quite standard for a buffet style place. After checking in at the Hershey Farm Restaurant & Inn, which is not related to the candy company, we needed to eat lunch. Unfortunately, most locally owned restaurants are closed on Sundays, so we sat down for a picnic on the hotel's property, enjoying the pretty views, and put the kids down for naps. We had hoped for a room with two full beds, but it worked out better having a king and then a cot for Jonah. This allowed us to rearrange the furniture and our pack-n-play (for Leah) to suit our needs best. I would do 3.5 if I could but I can't justify 4. The room itself is old and the bathroom is tiny. Like tiny. I could not regulate the temp of the shower. It was hot or cold at all times. And the bath towels were tiny also. The bed was terrible. The pool was really nice and the location and grounds were good. The included breakfast buffet was very good. Was in the Lancaster PA area for work. We stopped at Hershey Farm Restaurant after work for dinner. Great place. It's a 'smorgasbord' with a wide variety of salads, hot and cold entrees, bread and desserts. They even had a very tasty sliced tenderloin at a carving station and boiled shrimp. Last month I enjoyed two days at the Hershey Hotel. Yesterday, July 4th we visited the buffett at the Hersehy Farm property. Simply put they were polar opposites. The carving Station offerings tasted of burned aluminum. Most of the other offerings were average to mediocre. BUT THEY CARRY THE HERSHEY NAME! Maybe it's because Lancaster County has some superior buffets, but I found the offerings underwhelming in terms of quality. This is a large place that also offers lodging. The have a gift shop, bakery and nursery. They cater to large tours that come to see the local shows at the Sight & Sound Theater which it's located adjacent to. The seating area is somewhat in three sections, a smaller area for groups of twos and threes, another area for families and much larger area that can hold big groups. I've never had to wait here and they always do a good job getting people seated (sat), even during busy times. Breaskfast The hours on breakfast change depending on the day so be sure to check but it's roughly from 8am to 10:30am. In the back of the buffet area you'll find the breads, wheat, white, muffins, donuts, fruit salad, cold cereal (Cherrios and Raisin Bran), cottage cheese, bagels and cream cheese. There is also some cookies and shoofly pie. The hot foods serving table has the potatoes, eggs, hash browns, biscuits, gravy, crispy bacon, tender bacon, scrapple, sausage, ham, baked oatmeal, oatmeal, syrup, blueberry & strawberry toppings, pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes, French toast, baked French toast and sticky buns. All the food here was really good. I especially liked the eggs, potatoes, bacon, biscuits and gravy, baked French toast and oatmeal. The others were all good too but those things stood out for me.The food was always hot and they refill empty trays immediately. The staff is extremely friendly and does a terrific job of clearing plates and refilling drinks. The place is spotless and there is never a problem with clean utensils, plates and bowls. The bathrooms are equally as clean. Dinner They dinner space is twice as large as the breakfast. There are two buffet tables set up. The left starts with the soups (corn soup, beef vegetable soup, cream of potato soup), breads (wheat & white), salad fixings (peas, carrots, onions, corn, beets, etc) and dressings (Ranch, Thousand Island, blue cheese, hot bacon, etc), pasta salad, potato salad, cole slaw, chow chow, red beet eggs, cranberry relish, chicken salad, tuna salad and macaroni salad. At the end of this serving table are the puddings, eclair pudding, chocolate and vanilla pudding, rice pudding, bread pudding, Jell-O and mixed fruit. On the other side of this is the hot foods buffet with mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, Amish stuffing, brown buttered noodles, green beans, corn, broccoli, corn fritters, baked beans, macaroni & cheese, stewed tomatoes, fried chicken, honey BBQ chicken, chicken pot pie, broiled flounder, PA Dutch ham balls, beef stew, pot roast, pork and sauerkraut, meatloaf, turkey gravy, beef gravy, baked ham, prime rib and cocktail shrimp. To the rear of the buffet area is where you'll find the desserts. They have shoofly pie, coconut custard pie, cherry pie, pumpkin pie, blueberry pie, triple layer chocolate cake, yellow cake, strawberry cake, mini whoopie pies, fresh baked chocolate chip, peanut butter, or oatmeal raisin cookies. They also have hand-dipped Turkey Hill ice cream but you have to ask your server to bring this to you. They have vanilla, chocolate, peanut butter swirl and min chocolate chip. We stayed at the Hershey Farm Inn from 7/5/16 - 7/9/16. The room was ok. It had 2 queen beds and an outside porch area overlooking the pool. The bathroom was small but that is too be expected for a hotel. My main complaint with the room was the bugs. Not sure what kind they are since I'm no expert but they were all over the place, both alive ones and dead ones. They need to get an exterminator out there ASAP. We went with another family and my sister in law and their rooms were infested as well. The second day of our stay, we had our room cleaned by housekeeping. My wife had some expensive makeup STOLEN out of her makeup bag. We noticed the following morning when my wife went to get her makeup after showering. I went to the front desk at approximately 7:30am and was told that they did not think she would have done it because they never had any issues in the past and was a long time employee. I was told to send an email of what was stolen and they would let the housekeeping supervisor know when they got in at 9am. I did as requested and went on with my day. Around 3pm I had not been contacted so I sent a follow up email and was contacted within the hour. Maybe they were hoping I would forget. I was told that the housekeeper denied it but was willing to pay for what was stolen if it didn't turn up be checkout. Seems odd because if someone accused me of stealing something, I wouldn't offer to replace it unless I was guilty. Needless to say, I received a credit for the cost of the stolen item. Also, please beware of the benches and chairs by the playground equipment. They are so brittle that a 40 lb child would probably break it if they sat on it. Some other issues: the outside was filthy (see photos) Don't use the ice from the machine for anything other than filling a cooler. The filter is overdue for a change. (See photo) read more

Decently quality buffet in a place that hasn't been renovated since the 1940s. As part of a Lancaster weekend visiting some friends, we had buffet lunch here. The price for the buffet was a bit more than I expected, but we ended up eating enough, comfortably, to make it all the way back to NYC without needing dinner. So there's that. Seating is a bit more formalized than I would have expected, but there's a crazy catch-all shop in the entry with some insanely random items. If you want crappy gifts, farm items or anything that makes no sense, then this is a shopping destination. The dining was pretty good - solid fried chicken, good mac & cheese, decent meat, solid desserts, chocolate fountain. . yeah, it's pretty solid. Better food than what I recall from Sizzler or Old Country Buffet or my freshman dorms, but not significantly. At the price, I would have expected a bit better quality for the buffet. It's a bit high price for lunch for what I would have expected, but with a group it works. And the style of this place . . .yeah it's old school. It's what you'd expect for Amish Country I guess. My family and I just returned home from a weekend getaway to Strasburg and overnight stay at the Hershey Farm inn. Overall it was a very pleasant stay. Staff was friendly, rooms were very clean and roomy. Only negative is the bathrooms are a little small and you could hear your "neighbors" bathrooms after they flushed/used shower. Didn't bother us though, I would def stay here again. We ate at the restaurant twice and both times were great. Lunch was very good we ordered off the menus. Chicken pot pie was amazing and the stuffing. Breakfast buffet was included with our stay and was delicious as well with a lot of options. Loved the little stores too. The boutique has some really cute clothes, very reasonably priced. Will def be returning to Hershey farm inn on my next Strasburg getaway. read more

I really liked our server, she was very friendly and efficiently explained to us all our choices. My husband ordered the full smorgasbord and my daughter could eat free as an add onto that. I agree with some of the other reviewer's that the price charged for the dinner buffet is for the tourist trade. I opted for just the soup and salad portion of this limited selection buffet. The soup and bread were fine but when I go out to eat, I don't want to eat like I am in a prison. The salad bar could be called a "salad-ette". It was very small and had limited selections. The service here was beyond repair. My server brought the wrong beverages to my table throughout the evening. If I do ever make it back,perhaps just for breakfast. read more

Wonderful food, very friendly staff. I have been to this place in the past, but didn't write about the exceptional atmosphere and food. One of the best things about my visit beside the good service, was that there was no wait and I didn't have to make a reservation. Stick was our server and he was very attentive. This place is also very cozy, the booths are fare enough apart that you have privacy, but close enough to exchange a little chatter with your neighbor. I've been coming here since I was a kid with my grandma and aunt on family vacations. This review is for the restaurant this trip. We came here not feeling too hungry and didn't intend to get the entire smorgasbord. We were going to order an entree and add the soup / salad bar and the desert bar. However, we misread that those 2 things were just one additional price and when we added both of those prices to any entree it made much more sense to go for the whole shebang smorgasbord. I started with some soup and salad which was good. This place has options galore and there is definitely something for everyone. I followed that up with some chicken and other entree items. One awesome surprise was that there is a grill station with a menu where a gentleman working the grill will whip anything up. I had a plain quesadilla which got the job done! The desert bar definitely delivered! I had a slide of pie, some iced cream and dipped some strawberries in their chocolate fountain - awesome! Service was friendly, attentive and honest! Before watching Jonah at the Sight and Sound theater, my best friend and I were supposed to eat lunch at another place but it was closed for a holiday so ended up here and sure enough I was glad to have dined here! We went for the buffet and everything was awesome. I stuffed my stomach too much and over ate because the food was just so homey and just smelled good. This is a solid 3 stat hotel but I have it 4 because it was exactly what I was looking for for a weekend away. We stayed in room 650 in the farmhouse. You have to go through a room with the ice machine and then another to our room. But our room was lovely and large compared to a city hotel room. It had a love seat which converted to a small bed which my friend said was comfortable One note on the farm house rooms, they all have ledges you need to to need to step up or down to get into the room. The room came with the buffet breakfast. It was pretty good and I would have paid for it if I stayed nearby. We had the dinner buffet but we didn't get there until 7 and some of the options suffered from sitting for too long. read more

I like the MTO bar where you could order things just the way you liked them from quesadillas to Philly cheesesteak to pastas to burgers to tacos and a few other things. The food isn't that great, it's average at best and with a hefty price on the weekends. Must've read the menu wrong but I thought it said $11.99 per person for the smorgasbord lunch buffet but it ended up being $25.99 per person. Kids under 3 do eat free. They do have a carve and made to order section. Got a cheese burger and it was soooooooo salty. The only thing have have going is their desserts. Shady Maple still has the best smorgasbord. Unfortunately, the waitresses refill ur drinks and there's no wells to refill. We never saw our waitress, we had to flag another waitress to get ours to come out. read more
