I decided to take my wife there for a mother's day breakfast, crazy busy in the lobby which was expected. I had made a reservation for 10am and we were seated right on time. We sat down and waited for our server and ordered drinks. Once we got to the buffet it was organized chaos, they only had 1 person working the omelette station which made for a long wait. I did notice that each item only had 1 serving area and on a special day it should have been given more thought to add more. It's a typical breakfast buffet that U can find in any city. So the buffet is $25 in the evening and there were kids touching too many things. That was a turn-off. We got a roast beef, roast turkey, & grilled chicken all with vegetables. These were about $13 and one plate could have fed all 3 of us. No need to go to the buffet. Just order off the menu. The food is great. The service was awesome and the atmosphere is very relaxing. This is by far one of the best buffets I have ever been to. They have plenty of Amish food like the ham balls and don't forget the shoo fly pie and plenty of regular food like the Philly steak and cheese sub made to order and included in the price of the buffet. Kid's under 8 eat the buffet for free. They have a huge gift shop a small farm area with goats and chickens you can walk through and a duck and geese pond with a small playground for the kids. Four of us stayed there this past weekend for the first time. I found it to be adorable the way it is set up like a farm. We had two king rooms in the carriage house, which from outside looks like a barn. The rooms are adequate in size and were clean. We were only in them at night. Check-in was quick and the staff was very friendly from the onset. We had the dinner buffet one night, which is very affordable. It's a buffet, but with a more than adequate selection and the foods were quite good. Also, if you want something specific; the chef is there to make you a burger or something like that. The serving staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. We had the breakfast buffet both mornings. There is a huge variety to select from and again, if you want your eggs a specific way or you want an omelet, they will make it for you. There was even a selection of desserts at breakfast. We purchased some items from the bakery to take home. We strolled around the pond one evening after dinner. It's a pretty setting. I recommend staying here. read more

Just left a week long stay here and have to post about the amazing service at this Inn and Restaurant. Firstly, the Mgr., Ryan, is accommodating & professional, making for an enjoyable stay. I cannot say enough good things about April, who works at the main hotel, behind the front desk and in housekeeping. She is truly a gem and an asset to this establishment. Debi, Asst' Mgr. in housekeeping is also very sweet, great at her job, and extremely accommodating. We had the buffet breakfast (which is incl) and purchased the buffet lunch and dinner on two occasions. All of the meals were very good, with fresh ingrediants, they even a grill and staff, who can cook up just about anything you wish. We will be back! read more

My husband and I stayed at the inn and loved it! It was the perfect little getaway for us since we now live in big city Phoenix, Arizona. The staff at the front desk, gift shop & the restaurant were very friendly! We loved the goats & thought it was really cool that we could feed all of the animals there! Usually any buffet food isn't very good. However, this place caught me by surprise. It was so clean and well kept. Everything I put on my plate was delicious. It is expensive at $22 for the smorgasbord, but I found it to be worth it. So often buffets are dirty, sloppy, and just gross. The staff here was consistently cleaning and replenishing the buffet. The food was mostly Pennsylvania Dutch, so really good comfort food. Pork and sauerkraut, ham balls, chow chow, pickled beet eggs, baked macaroni, stuffing, shoofly pie, and so on. A lot to choose from, for sure. I would love to go back again, the next time I am in Lancaster. read more

THIS IS A REVIEW OF THE RESTAURANT ONLY. If you have tastebuds, stay away. I love visiting Lancaster County with my family and friends and traditionally, we eat at Shady Maple smorgasbord at least once per visit and then support other family restaurants and Inns, avoiding chains and supporting local business. We are big fans of Hershey chocolate and Hershey park so naturally I was expecting a satisfying experience at, what they advertise as, a smorgasbord. I could not possibly be more dissatisfied with the meal I ate. The buffet hardly qualifies as a smorgasbord and had I taken the time to walk around and survey the menu before getting a table I would have walked out the door before agreeing to pay the $26 per person. I would imagine that what I was offered at this buffet was comparable to what they are offering at Golden Corral for a fraction of the price. There was no quality to the food! I was embarrassed that I was the reason my family ate here. Everything was covered in fat, grease, cheese and over salted. This meal did not meet the Lancaster home cooking standards I have. This did not meet the standards I expect from Hershey! Honestly, the desserts in a hospital cafeteria have looked more appetizing than what they were serving. A bowl of mini pretzels and canned pineapple for the chocolate fountain (the "chocolate fountain" was just Hershey's syrup)? Rice pudding with the consistency of water? Chocolate chip cookies made from frozen dough? So disappointed. read more

I know nothing of the Inn but the smorgasbord is out of this world. Again, I cannot talk about the Inn or any of that, but the hot food was hot, cold food was cold, all 100% delicious. My only complaint, the ice cream maker gets hogged up and I have been here twice in a row and still no ice cream, so that is a little annoying but it still gets 5/5 read more

Very disappointed in this Restaurant. The salad was green iceberg sprinkled with a couple of pieces of carrot! Served and removed before anyone was finished ~ on all 3 courses!. The staff needs to have a lesson in waiting on tables! The meal was so so! I would definitely not go back! And the decor was dreary and tired looking! They need a complete overall! When told about it all they said was "sorry to hear that your experience wasn't good!" Then went further to say that they had asked their staff and they were quite "surprised"! Some people are easily satisfied; and some are not! I personally give this place 4 stars, for the staff alone!! The guy Garrett at the front desk was very patient and knowledgeably (he gets 5 STARS). Nonetheless, everyone in uniformed smiled, and were very polite. As for the property itself: For it to be an old building, It was as clean as it could get. We were very satisfied. We had a party of 15 persons (including my family of 5) ... so I was able to see many of the 2-Queen bedrooms that our party had booked. The rooms had new floors ... flat screen TVs ... and the walls looked freshly painted. Very fair-sized rooms, in my opinion. I personally had booked the 2-Bedroom Presidential Suite, for me and my family... and it too was satisfying. No one in our party had booked the farmhouse rooms...so I can't comment on that area. But, again, keep in mind that this is an old building (from the looks of it). Moreover, this is Dutch Country!! So note, that this is NOT some luxurious-fancy "urban" hotel. Again, this property, to me, is as clean as it can get. My wife and I, are frequent travelers. We have traveled all over this country, with our children, booking condos, houses, and hotels... so I am VERY careful when choosing lodging accommodations for my family ... and I say this property is a cool place to stay...especially if you're only there for the Sight & Sound - which is footsteps away. And lastly, the Restaurant: The food there is satisfying!! Again, this is Dutch Country... You can't go there expecting that you are in New York City!! ...or thinking Chef Ramsey is in their kitchen!! We didn't do dinner, but the breakfast has a nice selection to choose from. Most hotels will only give you a few items. This place has taken the liberty to FEED YOU, and your family HUNGRY JACK style!! The only bad thing I can criticize, is the orange juice. That OJ tasted like OJ Simpson!! Lol...well, I wouldn't know what OJ Simpson taste like...but just a joke. ...but other than the OJ, I give the breakfast a thumbs up!! Trust me, anyone who can complain about a FREE breakfast of this magnitude, has issues!! This is a well-kept property!! If you are not a complainer, you will enjoy this property... We celebrated Easter here. This is one of the best buffets that I have been to. All of the dishes have covers on them, so they are nice and hot. You can taste that all of the offerings are homemade. Wonderful food, very friendly staff. I have been to this place in the past, but didn't write about the exceptional atmosphere and food. One of the best things about my visit beside the good service, was that there was no wait and I didn't have to make a reservation. Stick was our server and he was very attentive. This place is also very cozy, the booths are fare enough apart that you have privacy, but close enough to exchange a little chatter with your neighbor. The options are pretty standard and most are just ok - the potatoes were tough and the bacon was a little overcooked. Although pricey, this is my favorite place to dine in Lancaster. They do have coupons in travel books, so look before you go. Their desserts are really good and nice quality. We most times eat breakfast at Miller's but to our surprise they no longer serve breakfast . We really are saddened that Miller's will no longer serve breakfast. I love the theme of this place. The server Dawn was fantastic she was very nice. The food however was in need of help. Alot of it was canned! The dessert was hard and the food was bland. It was poor for "dutch food" and for 25 dollars!!!! A huge waste of time and money! The worst part is i took my Dad out for his birthday and he said he felt sick afterwards. We ate there last evening before attending the show at sight and sound. The food was horrible and way over priced! My grandmother ordered a burger as she could not eat a huge buffet, it was burnt along with the bacon on top! She was only able to eat 2 bites of it. The service was very slow and waitress was never around. For 4 of us the bill was over $60 and we barely ate anything! It was the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at in Lancaster County! Absolutely awful! Worst dining experience ever! Please save your money. We spent $80.00( 3 lunch buffets, a water, a coffee, and a cherry coke)on the most horrendous food ever. My husband and daughter were brave enough to eat one plate and I was not. I even tried to just do the salad bar (hoping they couldn't screw that up), gag a maggot! The waitresses were super nice but the food was completely horrid. I left starving, angry, and my family left feeling ill. Do a little more research than we did and save yourself some misery.
