Well ... I booked a reservation through AAA, thought I payed for it. Then because I don't have a CC. I have to wait 24hours, had to rent a room. Now I have to have my credit check... then we wait again. Still here in Amarillo, Texas we're trying to get home safe & sound. If we get a rental I recommend it if not then I don't. read more

Made a reservations and paid online about a month in advance. When we got there the additional deposit for the rental was $200 on debit or credit card. If you want to use a debit card, they run a credit check- if it doesn't pass you still can't use it && that it MUST be credit now. I seriously can't use my DEBIT card?? They won't let you use your own spouses card, to pay the deposit even though the spouse is a drive, it has to be the same name of the card that it was originally purchased with. We were advised to call the corporate billing to see If we could use my card instead of my husbands. As I was calling they started vacuuming, saying "I'm gonna vacuum so you might want to go outside" The girl at the front was so rude and not helpful at all. I paid for a midsized car, and they gave me a car that was listed on their counter as a compact car- exactly like I didn't want. When I asked, they said , "oh we use it for a compact and a mid size" WHAT??! I paid extra to get a compact car???? I asked about the other mid sized cars in the lot and she said that she already grabbed the keys for the small one, and plus they ALL needed an oil change. really??! By this time my husband was irritated so we let it go, but never again will we go to HERTZ for rude people and credit checks to use a debit card read more

I had to stop in at this Hertz after renting a car in Wichita and driving to Amarillo. Avoiding a long detailed story, let me just say that the three ladies at the Amarillo Hertz were extremely helpful, kind, and knowledgeable! They answered all of my questions and set us up to drop off the car in Lubbock which is exactly what we needed but we're originally told by others that we couldn't. 5 Stars for this Hertz for being so helpful and considerate and we weren't even renting from them. read more

Horrid staff. Rude and disrespectful. Told me that their location didn't participate in app pickup and refused to believe that I prepaid for my car even after showing them the hold on my credit card app. I left and went to enterprise. read more

While traveling for my job as an armadillo figurine salesman, I was traveling through Texas and hit a deer. This was not beneficial to my car or the deer. We were both placed in unpleasant situations. More for the deer since it died right away. But I needed body work done and had to get to my next client (an old blind woman). Hertz was the first place I called. An interesting hippy man picked me up from my hotel (he didn't even smell that bad). They got the paperwork through quickly and I was ready to leave. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is they gave me a stupid KIA SOUL. IM A MAN I DONT DRIVE A KIA SOUL. Every town I went through they threw garbage at my car and laughed at me. The car got quite dirty. I met a man who felt so sorry for me he offered me his own car as long as I push this car off a cliff. Unfortunately for me I signed a contract with hertz that said "you may not push this car off a cliff." Anyway, they didn't care that the car was covered in garbage when I returned it. I tried to rent a minvan for my sister to get herself and family members to a funeral. Started as a car rental on Expedia, but transferred to Hertz when I upgraded to a minivan, and they took $409 up front. It sounds like the call center is on the other side of the world. Not just accents, the call quality is horrible and difficult to hear. Absurdly enough, they refused to send an email to confirm. I got a confirmation number and when I had my sister call the Amarillo branch to confirm, she was told she could not rent it without a credit card. I followed up, and found out that I would have to be there because I paid for it. Why is Hertz taking reservations for one person when the payment is being made by a second person if they ultimately just tell you that is not allowed? As this was for a funeral, and I was already booked for a flight, and I don't live in Amarillo that was impossible. I received the name of a supervisor, Rachel Duhon, and called her. She initially told me she would see to it the reservation was cancelled and the charges refunded. That was 5 days ago, and she has clearly screened my phone calls ever since. After 4 days of follow-up by text, because she won't answer, the only response I get is "you're going to have to wait 7-9 days." When I ask for confirmation that it is at least cancelled and the refund is being processed, I'm told she is not sure. DOES IT REALLY TAKE 7-9 DAYS TO DECIDE TO REFUND THE RESERVATION MADE IN ERROR???? When I ask for the number of someone who can actually help me, she gave me the number for a call survey for roadside assistance, which after two attempts only hangs up on me after saying thank you for taking their survey. This is the absolutely the most unprofessional service I have ever received from any company. RACHEL DUHON AND HERTZ HAVE ADDED ABSURD FRUSTRATION TO A FAMILY GRIEVING THE DEATH OF THEIR FATHER, yet think it is okay to give a joke phone number in response to a legitimate request. read more

We've been traveling thru the country and our car broke down and AAA sent us here. Best car rental experience by FAR! The manager is amazingly helpful, as are the ladies who work under her. It's a holiday weekend so they were extremely busy, but they were still super fast and so professional about our very last minute rental. Rent your cars from here! read more
