I reserved an EV specifically online from this location. I can in about an hour early and they said they wouldn't have it until the time of my reservation (no problem). I come back at the time of my reservation only for them to say they don't have any EVs and they could put me in another car but not discounted from the EV price. The staff also had a HORRIBLE attitude and acted like it was my fault for even thinking I should get the kind of car I reserved. If you're hoping to get an EV or any kind of car I wouldn't recommend this location. read more

This is hands down the best car rental experience I've ever had. The team here at Indio Hertz is one of the most understanding and efficient team that I've ever worked with. I'm new to the area and had to book a long term rental for 3 weeks due to a car emergency. But i ended up needing to extend my booking to 6+ weeks as my car troubles got extended. They helped me every step, and went out of their way to help me find the best arrangement for my situation. Enrique (the manager) goes above and beyond. The pick up and drop off experience was seamless. They're super responsive and helpful over both phone and email. Enrique even offered to change out my car after a few weeks to help me upgrade and get a cleaner car. (Decided not to as I was getting comfortable with my Chevy). They're a really busy location but I can tell they really care about their customers and giving the best experience. Absolutely and Positively the WORSE experience with this Hertz location. From the very start, the car was given (2019 QX50) in their luxury line, was extremely dingy, smelly. And after driving a short few miles, I knew it was NOT road worthy. Starting off with a sporadic jerky transmission; gargling engine; constant engine noise and squeaky brakes. After calling their local office, I was told that someone in the office would reach out to me by the end of the day in order to swap out of the SUV - the call never came. Day Three: I called Hertz once again and virtually told the exact same thing the prior day. At this point, I'm quite upset and called the Hertz Toll Free number and I was told to return the vehicle to Palm Springs Airport for a swap. That was not acceptable to me. Hertz makes it almost impossible to redeem points for rentals. Their site makes it very difficult--impossible in my case--to simply use points for a rental. If you can find the box, you click "use points" or "redeem points" but then the only choice you are offered is to pay money. They have a 2 1/2 page part of their website on "how to redeem Hertz rewards" but the instructions cannot be followed on their site. Looks like a fraud or violations of consumer protection laws to some of us. read more

After having a disturbing experience picking up my rental, I was told by Hertz corporate to file a complaint with the manager of this location as they are not taking formal complaints during the pandemic. The manager was not on duty when I returned the rental and the old man working at the time did absolutely nothing to help my situation. It's been almost a week and I still haven't been able to get ahold of anyone in charge at this location. I don't know how it's fair to be taken advantage of and then be denied the right to even confront the issue. A rent a car at least once a month. I tried Hertz because I had a corporate discount. It was terrible. Mario was an arrogant a$$. He told me the car was just below half a tank, closer to 3/8 full. It was less than 1/4 full. He told me I could change my mind on adding the gas option if I got it. He lied. I called from the gas station, accused me of "showing off" and "tag to make I'm look a his manager." Seriously. The car stank of cigarettes. There was a beer bottle top and a cigarette butt that came rolling out from under the drivers seat. Mario refused to tell me the manager's name and told me he was busy and hung up on me. I sent all of this to the store and never heard from anyone. Stay away from Hertz. The corporate customer service never returned my call either. read more

Horrible location and untruthful staff. I reserved a rental at the Bermuda Dunes airport, and had to extend by 1 day due to a mechanical issue on my plane. This location ended up charging me for 3 full days, despite the fact I only had the car for 2 days. I spoke with Luis from this location, who assured me he would adjust the rental to 2 days (they are closed on Sundays, which is when I was dropping it off, but he told me they will only charge up until when I drop it off) I ended up being charged $240 for 3 days rental of a compact car, with over 50,000 miles on it, and body damage all over. I could've got a nicer, newer, better maintained vehicle for the same price from Go Rentals if I had have known Hertz at this location were thieves and would charge me for an extra day I didn't use. Hands down the worst costumer service I have received. Had a reservation for 9am and called 4 times after being told the car we reserved was not ready. Went back at 4 only to be told that we could not have the car AT ALL and that we could make a new reservation for the next day but that we should expect to not get a car then either. The employee also REFUSED to give us a refund and told us to call the company and lie about the situation in order to get our money back. This location is an absolute joke. Don't rent from here if you're smart. I thought when they were at their different location it couldn't get any worse, but guess what they succeeded. I reserved a car several days in advance. When I called them the day of to make sure my car would be ready, I was essentially told too bad so sad, you get what we got. I went from a full size reservation, to a beat up compact. Beat up is an understatement too. The paint was peeling, when you pressed cruise control the horn honked as though the alarm was going off, the back passenger door had previously been hit and in true border town style it was ghetto rigged to open and close but not without out force. The management staff showed no sign of remorse or care to the situation. I'd be surprised if this location stays open long, since it's a POS of a business, with low quality customer service, and no positive business ethic. read more

I was very disappointed in my experience here. I am a gold member and usually get great service. I was on vacation and needed a car for the rest of the week, so reserved a car for pickup at 10am. I had to take an Uber to the location and then waited in line for 20 minutes once I arrived even though there was a manager hanging around. I was finally helped only to be told they didn't have any cars, but that they could call me in an hour or two when one becomes available or I could tent a minivan for $100 per day more. No thanks. The Worst in every way possible, I took my Chevy Volt in for service and the dealer provided me a courtesy car. Hertz gives me a massive Chevy Suburban.. I accepted this as I was only driving a few miles to get home (10 miles) and return it once my service was done. Prior to returning the big suburban I topped it up over from what I started with. I returned the vehicle and find out they charged my credit card. I then placed a call to the Indio Hertz and they tell me it was for a fuel charge. I explained to them I put in gas and only used the vehicle about 30 miles. They said a manager would call me back. Never happened. I called again and get a run around about me needing to find my contract. Once again no return call. Terrible experience. I will be contacting my credit card to dispute the charge. If I could give this location zero stars, I gladly would. I reserved a rental car earlier today for a 12:00PM pick up knowing that they had a 1:00 PM closing time (according to their Yelp page). I arrived at the location at 12:05 PM and the doors are locked with the staff inside. The hours posted on the door had been covered and changed with new handwritten hours. The staff which lacked compassion, turned me away and told me since I arrived past their closing, they are unable to help me. I called their customer service hotline and received the same answers with no resolution. My concern is that they allowed me to reserve a rental at the same time the location closes and I was not advised through the online booking system or confirmation email of their closing time. Coincidentally, every car rental establishment in the entire region is either closed or sold out, which is even more problematic. Hertz needs to ensure that their customers are aware of closing times, not allow reservations/pick-ups to be made when their locations are closed, and be flexible with customers who are placed in these predicaments, which are caused by Hertz inability to effectively communicate their operating hours. read more

I have been using Hertz at this location for years. I reserved a car for the week of April 27th-30 in January, on my way to pick the car up I receive a call from "Bobby" and he says they have no cars available. I go in to speak to him in person and all I get is an attitude . Customer service is LACKING to say the least, he did absolutely NOTHING to assist me! I am going to file a former complaint with corporate, I am a caterer and had a huge catering job and needed the vehicle to transport my equipment. These wonderful people were supposed to deliver a car to my mother-in-law this morning. They missed their appointment and she tried to call them for 3 hours straight with no answering of the phone. Turns out it was a simple problem they didn't have any cars to fulfill the reservation and they didn't want to answer the phone and deal with an angry customers. Not answering the phone is not the right course of action when people are depending upon you. 6 hours later and still no car and still no car in sight I recommend that nobody use these people ever. If I could give it zero stars I would. Went into the office after being quoted a rental price of 679.25 on the phone by Vanessa. Went into the office later in the afternoon on the Thursday prior to Easter. Vanessa gave us the same quote and my husband and I asked to make the reservation. Vanessa then proceeded to tell us that if we went to our AAA agent that we could get even a lower price from AAA after Easter, due to them having additional coupons I took her advice and waited till after Easter to contact our AAA office. When I called them I was told that the price for the same vehicle was over 2000.00 for the same vehicle type and time of rental. When I heard this I was beyond upset. I tried for two days to speak with the manager at Hertz who name is Enrique. Finally on Friday 04/09/21 I received a call back from Enrique and he did nothing to make the situation correct. I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. To raise rates that much in just over a week is beyond being lawful. Talk about price gouging. I tried to change my reservation to 8am on Monday online but was having trouble. I called in on Friday, May 5th to change my reservation time. I spoke to Mario and he said, "not a problem, just come in at 8am on Monday." Assuming I would have a rental car, I came in at 8am, was the first person in line and was told by Mario himself that I could not rent a car because my reservation was for 9am...I had to wait. This review is for the Indio, CA location on Highway 111. I am not exaggerating when I say this is the worst customer service I've ever experienced. My car had broken down and my boyfriend and I needed to return home (5 hours away.) that night. This location closes at 6:00 pm on Sundays. After going through an entire ordeal involving getting my car to the mechanic, my boyfriend stayed with our dog and cat at the mechanic while I took an uber to Hertz. However, I couldn't complete the reservation due because we were using my drivers license and my boyfriends credit card, which is completely understandable. At this point it's about 5:25 pm. So I take an uber back to grab my credit card from the broken down car while calling that Hertz location to let them know I am returning as fast as I can and may possibly arrive a couple of mins late. The employee told me "sorry we close at 6:00 and can't stay late. That's the rules. But we open at 8:00 am tomorrow." I told him that I would be stranded in the city and really needed to complete my reservation and he said "You can get a hotel." I pleaded with him and tried to explain that I couldn't do that because my boyfriend and I both had work in the morning and he certainly couldn't miss work because he was getting DEPLOYED in a couple of days. The employee didn't care at all. So my uber driver and I rushed to grab my card and return before 6. I arrive and ran to the door at 5:58 pm only to find the door ALREADY LOCKED! I knocked and the employee was sitting at the counter and just gave me a diagruntled look. I said through the glass "Its only 5:58! Please open the door!" He just continued to stare at me for another 10 seconds and just got up and walked away to talk to his coworker in the other room!! Then he and the other employee emerged and employee #2 was walking out with his bike. He opened the door (probably only because the other guy was leaving) and I said "Sir, I arrived before 6:00 and I need to get home so please have a little more compassion!" As employee #2 just walked past me, Employee #1 said nothing and annoyingly gestured for me to go inside. We completed the reservation and he just handed me the keys and walked me to the door (to lock it again). No inspection. No showing me to the car. I had to find it on my own in the parking lot. A few days later, I hit the road before dawn to return the car because the location closed at noon on saturdays. I arrive at 11:40 and the same employees are there and one of them makes a comment to other "it's almost closing time so that's when everyone's coming in." I honestly would have used someone else but they were the only people open who had cars available. These employees couldn't be more unprofessional and it couldn't be more obvious that they hate their jobs. They cared more about getting out of work then helping a customer who's already going through an ordeal. I felt like I was just annoying these employees by using their company. Currently sitting at a auto body shop, hertz was supposed to be here to pick me up and take me to get a car because they are short on staff and didn't have anyone to deliver. Supposed to be here at 9:30 it is currently 11:02 and I am still waiting. Called multiple times they said they are still 45 minutes away. This Hertz deserves negative 3 stars. Customer service here is non existent. I had a rental scheduled through AAA and was greatly disappointed. No smiles. No eye contact. No joy st all. No more than 30 seconds after walking in I canceled the service. I let all three men know how bad their service is. I called AAA to let them know and scheduled a rental from Enterprise.
