No wonder this location has horrible reviews, it's because they ARE horrible. I was told they would have a luxury vehicle waiting for me and you know what they had? An suv Volvo! Who the hell wants to drive an suv and a volvo? They had ZERO luxury vehicles like they said. They just wanted to lure me in and have it take their one and only available vehicle. Ummmm...NO. That's not happening. They lied lied and lied, horrible customer service. Why are they even in business? Shame on them. They made me waste so much time trying to get a car rental last minute. We were in need of a rental car after an accident. Insurance pointed us to Hertz so I called the Los Gatos location and had a great conversation with Luke before even coming in. Rented a car through State Farm while my car was at the body shop. Got a confirmation code. Spoke to them on the phone and everything. Got a uber from my body shop. When I get here the manager says they can't help me and refuse to call corporate or anyone to help find a solution. I have never had such a bad experience with a rental car in my life. As I'm am standing inside pacing back and forth because this company will not allow me to rent a car from them because they claim it is "company policy" to only use debit cards 24 hours in advanced even though I have nearly 8000 in my bank account and am now stranded at the hertz, no wonder this place only has 2 stars, they are unprofessional and unwilling to allow me to rent the car. I would leave zero stars if I could. I arrived at location earlier today, I stood in the lobby for over 20 minutes while waiting for an associate to help me. We could hear people in the back office area, but nobody came by to ask if we needed help. We were finally approached by a rude associate named Robert. I inquired about the current stock or inventory of vehicles. I was asked if I had a reservation and I mentioned that I did not. Robert was very rude and short about the offerings of vehicles and was not able to provide assistance. I can now understand why this business only has 2 stars. I should have looked at these ratings before attempting to visit this location. Where to start! I booked a reservation online the day before I needed the car and got a call the morning I was going to pick it up to tell me they didn't have it. I reserved an EV car and was driving an hour to pick it up because they were the closest location with one. Apparently the system lets you book cars that are not even available (I hope Hertz fixes this). Anyway, I talked to Robert and he went above and beyond to find me an EV. He not only found me one but had it delivered to his site and earlier than my initial pick up time. He is outstanding! He provides great customer service! Hertz is lucky to have him. People are always giving this place a bad review. Yes they have lines to wait sometimes, who doesn't! Book my rental online, called them to confirm it, arrived an hour later and got to choose my car. Be polite and wait your turn, you will get the nicest car available. Be an a****** , and will give you the peace of shiet, it's really simple guys. There are always discretionary upgrades available to the staff and management at the office. You can also search for CDP codes online, and put those into your reservation. I found the cars were all immaculately detailed, the 2 newer team members were super nice and polite. The gentleman that was the manager was also super kind, friendly and joked with my 9 year old son about "when he could drive mommy's car" . Maybe they've had some good constructive feedback lately and retrained everyone. Whatever it is, I'm giving them an amazing review . Ask for this particular car - Toyota Camry , Full Size Class F, it's only got 4500 miles. With the new Eco boost engine, it is getting me 34 miles per gallon! read more

I rented a car from here for a vacation for two weeks and after calling many different car rental agencies looking for a car to suit my needs, I then called this location since it was nearby. The manager of this location, Robert, was incredibly nice, helpful, and friendly to work with! In fact, all of his staff that I spoke with were. It was a breath of fresh air talking with him about my car rental needs and actually feeling heard and that he was willing to be so helpful to me! My car cannot go on trips anymore due to its condition. So last summer we rented a car to go on a trip. I was in class, so sent my husband to get the car.He returned with a Prius and we were so happy with it. It was clean, and fit all our stuff, which there is always a lot of, and the seat was so comfortable I didn't have to always use my special cushion. I hope my next rental is just as great! read more

Do not rent from this place/company at al!!! I "reserved" a Tesla model Y a week before my vacation, hoping that it would hold the car for my weekend trip as my car is a high mileage car. I was called by Robert the day before I was scheduled to pick up my car and told there were no model Y cars available, as they didn't get a shipment of cars in that they thought they were getting in. So why even reserve a car that you don't have in stock a week before only to call the customer and tell them you don't have the car in?!... it's make no sense to me! I cancelled my reservation and probably will be charged a cancellation fee due to them calling me the day before and telling me they can't hold up to their end of the bargain. Maybe Tesla should not allow them to rent out these cars if their going to break contract. read more

Was able to reserve a car at the Los Gatos location with 5:00pm pick-up and drop-off. Note the confirmation email states HOURS OF OPERATION: 7:30am - 6:00pm, so does their website and store front. Got there at 5:04pm, store was locked and dark. No phone call, no email advising me that I needed to be there before 5:00pm. Called "Customer Service" three times, the first, told me I could get the same car at their San Jose Airport location (a 20 minute drive from my home) for $50 more. Asked to speak to a supervisor, was told one would call within 15 minutes. Forty-five minutes later, I called back. Had to explain the issue all over before rep would connect me with a supervisor. After 25 minutes of going around, she put me on hold, then said she was connecting me, then the call was dropped. Called again this morning, asked for a supervisor to call me, again had to explain to the rep what the issue was, he said a supervisor would call me within 15 minutes. STILL NO CALL...shocker!!!! Sent the following message to Hertz via FB Messenger... To avoid the inconvenience and hassle of future customers, I sincerely hope you update your website, store front, and confirmation emails to reflect the actual closing time. Perhaps the online system should prevent one from scheduling a 5:00pm pick-up and drop-off if the store closes at 5:00pm. Also, implement a policy that the office calls 30 minutes before closing if a car is scheduled to be picked up and hasn't yet. Finally, if it is the fault of Hertz, and a customer is directed to go to another location that is 20 minutes further away, don't charge more for the same car. Nothing special. Received an old, stinky, horrible condition Ford Fiesta as a rental. You guys need to retire these beaters...I felt gross driving it and the car had a lot of stains and fixed up patches on the seats. Price is okay but I wouldn't rent a car from here again. read more

Had a very positive experience with Los Gatos Hertz. Gabe, our service provider, was eager to complete our transaction in timely fashion. He was professional and personable. Our AAA rate was confirmed, our car was ready, and spotless. We were assigned a hybrid. Car was problem free. Tank fillup for our round trip to/from Sacramento was $30. Way below what we anticipated based on California gas prices. We extended our reservation for 3 hours. Returning car was as easy as our pickup. The cars I got were clean and fairly new, he tried his best accommodate me with cars that could fit my kids car seat with enough room so they can be comfortable just like in our own car. Fellas, next time please spare me the hard sell on the upgrade to the Chevy Impala "for $10 more (per day)", and please stop calling it a "luxury car", regardless of the backup camera, leather seats, and only 2000 miles of wear. The transparent false-choice between upgrading from the class we reserved or taking the dented, beat up Hyundai Elantra, clearly intended to get me to pay the $10 to avoid the sub-standard car meant as a prop, was shady shady shady. And what a surprise that when we picked the Elantra anyway, and you went inside for the keys, wouldn't you know it - you found out it smells like smoke and can't be rented after all. No we still don't want the Impala. Nice try once again. I'm glad there actually was a Mazda 5 at the same rate level, but it still needed a vacuum and a wash. Given all the games, it took over an hour from when we walked in to this Hertz location until we drove away in the Mazda - which by the way had only half a tank of gas. I travel for my job and I rent a lot of cars from Hertz. This location needs to up its game. read more

this place is a joke. Clueless staff. Cars are gross. Service is horrible! I had a reservation for one night while my car was in the shop. They said it was a $500 hold on my debit card plus credit check. It was for $45! I got denied and I didn't have enough space on the cc I had with me. $500??? Really? She said oh we'll just use the number to hold it and I could pay with my debit card later...she had no clue what she was doing. So I left with no car. Couldn't drop mine off. Now my entire day tomorrow is screwed with no rentals available anywhere and I have no brakes so either I cancel my work trip or uber to get around with my kid from school etc. Thx for nothing Hertz!! I have been a Hertz 5 star gold member for years. I recently visited a store right next door to this location and there was a car parker horizontally taking up 3 parking spots so I honked and asked the guy to move. I parked got out of my truck and again asked him to move his vehicle, then a young and use the word "lady" loosely came running out of Hertz and started yelling at me to leave her boyfriend alone and get away from her car and continued to threaten me. I then walked in to the Hertz location and spoke with the manager Robert DeLeon and explained what was happening and he said there is nothing he can do about it. So I asked him if its standard practice for Hertz employees that are on the clock to run out and yell and threaten customers? She threatened to call the police and I said please do immediately so you boyfriend can get ticket for triple parking. So to upper management at Hertz your employee Sydney and Robert are absolutely the worst customer experience I have ever had in my life. read more

Don't think I will ever rent a car from Hertz again. MY car got damaged by a hit-n-run and had to get a rental from hertz. My AAA rep got me one at hertz, I was picked up and dropped off from my autobody to the rental place. During that time, all I wanted was to sign the damn contract to get my rental and bounce since I had to head back to work. Two weeks later I dropped off the rental at my autobody and picked up my car. The autobody and hertz work together so it wasn't a hassle for people. I get a call two days later saying my card was declined because I owed them 230 dollars. Wait, what? My insurance covered my car rental, why the heck do I owe 230 dollars? The representative that helped me that day said "you agreed to this coverage insurance, so I put it in your contract" you owe us 230dollars. WHAT THE Hell? Are you kidding me? Why the heck would I agree to some stupid coverage insurance when my OWN INSURANCE COVERS my car rental and everything with the rental???? I dont even recall the conversation that had anything to do with insurance coverage. These guys play you like you're a weakling. I cant get these coverages removed because they put it in my contract without me even "agreeing" to it, it's just them thinking I agreed to it. DON'T GO TO HERTZ, MAKE THEM READ YOUR CONTRACT OVER TO YOU. Because they never did to me and now the F**Ked me over. Worse company ever. read more

I went to Los Gatos CA Hertz at 11AM with an email confirmation that had a reservation number and left at 1:00PM. Unfortunately, I had to return because there was no rental contract. During my waiting period the manager said my car would be free and then denied he said that and claimed he said the upgrade would be free. He also distinctly told me gas would be included because of the time I waited but upon return I found out he did not take care of this, Return was another fiasco as the employees had no idea how to print a receipt. Didn't have any info on the insurance that was paying for it, or any desire to help resolve the lack of info. The guys here seem to have no motivation to provide customer support. Got charge $21 for a $7 toll at the golden gate after 3 months on my cc. Wasnt informed or even given a choice to pay then or alternative. Be prepared to pay 3 times the amount of toll wothout even knowing and you do not have any other options. The car was terrible and shook the whole time and the staff was not helpful. Bad service and rental car. I spent 1 hour just picking up the car because they didn't have the correct information on file and they tried to push the insurance even though they should have known that I already had it. On top of that the car vibrated the ENTIRE time. I complained when I brought it back to drop off and all they said was "okay thanks for letting us know."
