I just want to extend a warm thank you to the gentlemen in the front Diego and the branch manager McKenna. They have made my experience renting my first rental super easy and understanding. Would definitely recommend this branch spefically. All branches are not the same! I am so thankful for this Hertz location. I had issues renting a certain car online and had two agencies call and tell me the rental I had booked was not available at their location after they had confirmed. After working with Hertz through my auto club, they found a car for the next day at this Gilroy location. When I called to be sure they had the car before I booked it, their brand new manager McKenna answered the phone. She let me know they had the car I needed on their lot available that day (I needed it that day). She worked with the 800 customer service to align my rental of this car and helped me get the price I had originally booked for. She held the keys for me and I was able to get to the place in plenty of time that day. She was kind, professional, very helpful and made a rough booking day into an incredible experience. When I went to the location I learned she is the new manager and they have a whole new team at the location. I have read some of the former reviews and I can attest that this NEW team is absolutely stellar. I am McKennas fan now as she pulled through in ways rarely seen at an agency. Hertz is very blessed to have her on their staff. I truly hope people revisit this location and see the changes. I will return again if I need a rental car. A new staff member was being trained when I went in and also had an excellent attitude. Thank you McKenna for an excellent experience and making my day easier. The overall stars for this location says it all. I unfortunately had no choice in the matter. I was forced to this location due to a getting hit by a truck and the other party's insurance put me through with this location. To start, I am located in Hollister, CA. There is a car rental company here. Yet, assigned to Gilroy. Secondly, when I contacted the adjuster (AAA) and mentioned to her that Gilroy was out of the way and I had no way to get there. She said well it's not our problem to find you a way to get there. Side note: AAA has turned my life upside down for the past week. Horrible company and or adjuster. Now, for this locations review. They contacted me to let me know AAA had set up a rental while my car gets fixed. I mentioned to them I had no way to get there. He offered to pick me up. I thought wow, I did not know that was an option. I accepted. The guy arrives at my home. I get in the car. He dose not identify himself. I had to ask him where was he from, just in case it was not Hertz. He then says I am with Hertz. Ok. Great. He drives us (my little one and I) to the location. We get there. Walk up to the counter. The guy at the counter was Nick Hale. He gets the process started. I provide him my DL and credit card. He tells me that I have to pay a portion out of pocket. I was informed of the security deposit (not a problem because that gets returned when car is returned) but not of any additional cost. This was something AAA should of already handled but what should i have had expected, right? So i let him know that this was an insurance deal and that I was not at fault and AAA was to pay. I ask him to call them and straighten it out. He says I'm not going to do that. So I call. Surprise surprise, no answer, but I continue to try. He offers no help but he does say well, here are your items and we can just take you back home. I say okay. My time and your time just got wasted. He walks over to the guy that picked us up and let him know that we need to go back home. The guy says what? No. So, now Nick says well, there is no one to take you back home. I ask what do you want me to do? I am stuck here now. My husband is out of town and I had to pick up my granddaughter from care. I explain this to him. He says well, you can wait here till 5 (it was about 3:15pm) I say wait for what? I need to go home if this is not going to work. I have been trying to call the adjuster but no answer if you would like to call her and speak to her maybe you have better luck contacting her since she doesn't know your number. He says I'm not going to do that. So my daughter and i are basically stuck there waiting around for nothing. Just literally picked up and left there. I mentioned to him I need to get home and something needs to be done. He says well, you can pay out of pocket. So, what choice do I really have right? Pay or walk home on the freeway with my child. So, I pay. He gets me into a car but the car is dirty. I was shocked at the car provided. Aside from dog hair all over. There were crumbs everywhere. Broken pieces on the middle console and seat belt part. A hair tie etc. Photos provided. Overall horrible service and horrible car. Completely unsanitary. I only wish i had a choice of where to rent. This location is horrible DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

My husband is a Gold star member yet Hertz rep did not take that into consideration. Upon return of SUV he asked me to pay $45 cash for chip on windshield. When I reminded him I bought the insurance they offer he reluctantly retracted the request. Felt weird we have never had this type of experience with Hertz at the airports. read more

This location is completely crap and the manager and his assistant run the business if it's a family business. They don't care about customer service and they are the most arrogant people I have ever run in while renting it hurts. I am a Hertz president, circle member, and they treat you like shit. There has been multiple times. I have gone to this location and then they say the car is not available and they shove you off. I would rather rent from the enterprise location at Gilroy than these idiots. read more

ALL HERTZ CAR RENTAL BRANCHES ARE NOT ALIKE!!!!! After having a horrendous experience with another Hertz this past year, I very hesitantly dragged myself to this location behind Sonic never ever expecting what I was about to find. Paola was nice over the phone and gently yet confidently stated that all branches are different from one another and that she hoped that her branch would provide me a better experience than what I had experienced previously. Enter David the branch manager: - In short, I will never visit another Car Rental facility of ANY brand while David is around!!!!! David is KNOWLEDGEABLE, PERSONABLE, FRIENDLY, CONSIDERATE, & CUSTOMER SERVICE ORIENTED!!!!! The day of pick up, he was able to oversee the other gentleman who was working with a different customer, calls that we coming in, a room full of people arriving and me, without allowing any of us to feel neglected. A work ethic which far surpasses the norm. Would strongly recommend and look forward to referring everyone who crosses my path. read more

I thought David was really nice up until I was lied to saying they didn't have a vehicle for me and showed up to the branch and the suv was there.. Nicolas helped me when I arrived they said that they didn't have that vehicle available for me that's another family was going to come pick it up I have been struggling for about 40+ days trying to get a vehicle that fits my whole family and I've been struggling in and out of doctors appointments and having to use other peoples cars or leaving children behind what Nicolas told me was that I couldn't possibly fit a baby car seat in the front car which that is illegal. I am just very disappointed in this branch they have no customer service and it all comes down to what the rate the insurance is will pay.. This is very sad Will never be using them Again please don't waste your time with idiots like this. read more

GM Gilroy sent me to Gilroy Hertz for a loaner while car was in the shop. I was very displeased with this decision because I have rented from here back in December 2022. The customer service was horrible from Nick (associate) and David (manager). This last (7/13/23) experience was even worse than the first!!! Both times I have been issued a car, they have been filthy. Found teeth in December in the door handle, and this time the car smelled like a moldy gym bag! David and Nick flat out lied about our contract signing when GM called to question them on an insurance dispute. GM and I have our witnesses and documents in place for this case. Had a car accident. Was told to call them to get a rental and a discount from them. They left me on hold for over 20 minutes. No answer

People helping you sound like there helping, but it's all a act. When your car breaks down or if there is a issue with the vehicle, you cannot get ahold of anyone.. I mean anyone! It cost me to pay a whole day extra.. when I confronted the employees about it, all they said was I know the phone systems challenging....as if I didn't know how to use a phone..I do not recommend this hertz to anyone!! Especially if your taking a long trip. read more
