So they fish you in to the Hertz international desk and tell you they don't have your reservation so you're stuck, and have to rent a car from another company. I have to say that this was the fastest and nicest rental car place we have been to. And in an it port at that!!! We got our rental through Dollar but the same area as Hertz. Thomas, the person that checked us in, was one of the nicest people I have ever met and only spoke to him for 5 min! I would give negative stars if I could. I paid online for a rental car for 5 days. I went to pick it up at the designated time. THEY WERE EFFING CLOSED!!!! I called the toll free number. They said not to worry, they would hold the reservation for me. I went there at 8am the next morning. The parking lot was literally full of their rental cars- but they said they didn't have any. When I asked them about the Carls in the lot, they said they were for people with reservations- I HAD AN EFFING RESERVATION- THEY STILL WOULDN'T GIVE ME A CAR!!! THEY REFUSE TO GIVE ME MY $317.00 BACK. Refuse. I disputed it with my bank, and they cannot move forward until they reply to their communications. THEY WILL NOT! Wow the line inside was insane but we are gold members so we crossed the street to the parking garage where the actual cars are. The line inside there was also long. We waited over an hour and no good cell phone reception. After an hour I think some extra staff showed up and they were friendly. I definitely don't recommend renting on site if you are in any type of rush. They didn't even have the minivan we reserved. We got a Buick Enclave instead and it has mechanical problems but too late because we left the premises and was already exhausted from waiting. Over the years I have rented several cars from this facility for various reasons, and while I have never been overwhelmed by exceptionally great service. I've never experienced any of the horror stories mentioned in some of the other reviews either. This time I rented a car for a week for work, I wanted a smaller SUV/crossover just for the comfort and room. I requested a Ford Escape, and ended up with a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. It was clean comfortable easy to drive and had a few premium features. The check-in/check-out procedures are somewhat time consuming, but really no different than any other car rental company I've ever used. One thing to be aware of is that they are not open on Sundays, (despite what thier Yelp page shows) so you may have to either keep the car an extra day, if you were planning to pick up or return the car on a Sunday. Overall nothing special, but a decent place to get a rental car. I would use them again if I needed to rent another vehicle. read more

I'm giving a 2 star review due to poor customer service. I rented a Kia Optima through my insurance company due to my car being in the body shop on Tuesday March 9, 2021 when drove away on my way home the "low tire pressure" light came on which meant that the tires needed air, I thought great I have to put air in a rental car, so I stopped at the tire store by my house and had them check it out, they put air in all the tires. Then this morning, 3/11/21 morning on my way to work in Turlock CA, I noticed that the light came on again, so I thought there was something wrong with the light indicator since I put air in them 2 days ago. Later that day one of my coworkers noticed that the left rear tire was almost flat, neddless to say I was not happy. I called the Hertz office at 2pm on 3/11/21, where I rented the car and the guy told me that there was a air pump in the car for me to put air in the tire, I told him that I was not going to that I was leaving work to pick up my car at the body shop as it was ready. They tried to talk me through hooking up the pump but I couldn't get it to work. Then all of a sudden I was talking to Brent and he said that he would give me a number for Me to call the Hertz in Turlock for help, I told him No you need to contact them and take care of this it's your vehicle not mine. Then he put me on hold while he called them, he came back and told me that they were short handed and couldn't help me that I needed to call their road side assistance, again I told him I am not calling anyone You guys need to help me with this. So he called road side assistance and was put on hold for over 40 minutes while still talking to me. Finally he got someone and they told him it would be about 30 minutes before anyone would be out to help me. I was very upset. Plus after they came out they would have Lyft who sent me a link come and pick me up which would take another 30 minutes. So being I really didn't have a choice, I agreed. I work for Stanislaus Court System in Turlock, while I was waiting my judge saw me standing by my car and asked me what happened, he volunteered to help me. He pumped up the tire for so I could drive back roads to Modesto and pick up my car in time before the body shop closed at 5pm. While I driving slow at 3:30pm, I was trying to contact Hertz road side assistance to cancel the tow truck I waited on hold for 20 minutes while I was driving and got disconnected. I made it to the body shop ( Caliber Collision) in downtown Modesto at about 4:15pm. Told them what happened. Anyway I picked up my car and left the rental at the body shop. I never heard anything from update on the road side until 5:15 pm that's 2 hours after Hertz told me that they would be there in 30 minutes. So if I waited for them I would've been sitting alone in a parking lot for over 2 hours. I don't blame Brent as he was just doing what his manager told him to do, his manager was the one I talked to first. All in all this is not good customer service management, it's the companies job to take care of their customers especially in this situation, I shouldn't be asked to handle fixing things myself. Truthfully I should've rated it 1 star. read more

I rented a 2018 Toyota Corolla for a week from this location and had a great experience!! Robert picked me up from the mechanic and drove me to hertz and was super friendly and knowledgeable. I had a lot of questions for him about repairs and the car I was gonna be driving and he knew all the answers then Shelby was super informative and walked me through the process and helped me with paperwork, she was really nice. I had a car reserved and I am now sitting here for over half an hour waiting for them to clean the car I had reserved, so it should have been ready to go. Every other customer in here right now is also having problems. Meantime the employees argue about who's turn it is for lunch OR they are singing obnoxiously at the top of their lungs. We were needing the rental for a trip out of town & were counting on their service. Sent my husband mid-morning to pick it up. When he arrived, there were no cars available. Even though we had a car reserved with a confirmation #! They said they gave it away because it was "1st come 1st serve". What good does it do to rent 1 on-line then?! Thank you to Enterprise for coming to our rescue. Everyone else was booked & there were no cars available near us. I would give this ZERO stars if I could. For starters the service was terrible. The customer service representatives were unfriendly, unengaged, and acted like you're putting them out for trying to rent a car. I placed my reservation online, and when I got to the rental site they told me that I couldn't return it on the original return day (Sunday) and that they would charge me an extra day. I objected but to no avail. When I returned it, I was just over an hour past the return time (return was at 4 and I arrived around 5:15) and they charged me an additional fee for being two hours late. I once again objected but to no avail. I have rented countless times from hertz and other rental car companies, and I have NEVER had a transaction like this!! Unwilling to serve the customer, nickel and dimming me, and downright rude service! Here's my update with these crooks. 1. Money was supposed to be returned to my account 2 weeks ago. It was not. 2. I called last Thursday to see where my money was, the girl responded that it was refunded on the 3'rd and it would probably be getting held in my bank account for 3-5 business days. So I checked with my bank this last monday. There was no money pending. 3. Called AGAIN monday to see where my money was. Different person said it was deposited on the 6th. When I said the previous girl had said it was the 3rd, the assclown on the phone just said, " it was the 6th. You need to wait 3 to 5 business days." I demanded a confirmation email, she said she would send it. Guess what, NO EMAIL. 4. I will be contacting the better business Bureau this afternoon on these crooks. I highly suggest that if anyone else has had this same problem, I suggest you do the same. Due to these douche nozzles, I haven't been able to pay my CPA. I would give 0 stars if possible. My insurance called set everything up at supposedly no cost to me. Well that's a lie. They don't even have a rental in the size i need available. I have kids i cant just stuff them into a vehicle that wont properly fit everyone's car seats. They never told me about a 50 deposit that's needed with a credit card with my name on it. I just paid all my bills so i didn't even have the 50 for a deposit today. They never disclosed any information with me about this. So my vans in the shop i have nothing to drive. I have to take my kids to school and myself to work and now have no van and no rental to use. Hertz doesn't care. I called the insurance company they said they cant Control the rental place and fees ect. I get that. But why did hertz say they would have a rental ready at 930am in the size i need if they didn't. Why didn't hertz disclose the deposit amount so i could come prepared? They said i could take a car today then swap it for a bigger one later now hertz is saying they didn't say that. I went in to rent a car and after some confusion was finally able to leave with the car. When I returned it I saw that I had $134 in additional charges. Apparently the manager had helped me, and because there was a signature on file (not the slip with this additional charges) I had to pay it in order to file a dispute. Now I'm having a heck of a time getting a refund because the company is standing by their awful manager. I'm still disputing because it was dishonest and shady. Who ever gave first review of 5 stars is a fake because this place is horrible. Deserves negative stars. The only two workers they have there are incompetent and rude. I am very sad that for some people flying in to modesto thay get this as a first impression. I went two days in a row trying to get a rental. First day was told on the phone "yes we have a car for you" went down, no car. The next day told to call Lani so she could hold a car for me. Called and she wasn't in. Then they called me stating that they had a car for me. Was dropped off for the second day in a row to be told I was on a "no rent list". Had to call to get a ride home. Next day called Hertz corporate and was told I was not on a no rent list and they didn't know why they didn't rent me a car. Called Lani and she was rude about the whole situation and acted like I called and got my name off the list. Signed through CarRentals.Com, a triple AAA+ company owned by Hotwire to rent the car from Friday at 5:30 p.m. to drop off Saturday at 5:30 p.m. (July 25, 2015). Had already made hotel reservations so I was surprised when the Hertz attendant told me there would be no one available to accept the return keys since they close at 12:00 noon on Saturdays. Why CarRentals.com did not know this I have no idea. Anyways, so far, CarRentals.com is being pleasant and asking me for a copy of my final Hertz invoice (none received so far through Monday) but of course Hertz has debited my account for "security". I ordered a car through a booking agency from NZ as I have done many times in the past. On arrival to pick up the car I was told that the agent did not need my booking schedule. She asked if we wanted insurance and I said no we already had suffiicient cover in our pre-booked confimation schedule. She also said she did not need my husband's Hertz Gold card. When she had completed the paperwork she pushed it into my husband's hand and quickly went out the door to get the car. We had friends waiting so did not check the paperwork. We have never had a problem with Hertz before and didn't expect one now. When we returned the car to SFO we found out she had charged us additional for underinsured insurance. We have never needed this cover in the 25 years we have been travelling to the USA and have never asked for it. I am very angry at this as we have always used Hertz as our preferred car rental company. We will certainly be looking and changing rental car companies after this. I have phoned from New Zealand and explained the situation to Amber who was going to let the manager know and they would get back to me by either telephone or email.
