This horrible Hertz franchise managed by David Miller is a nightmare of fraud. They took me for $642 in February of 2025. Fraud padding of invoices with insurance that I declined, the letter they sent to my credit card had a completely different vehicle that I rented, they forged my signature on the declined charges. It's very much of a racket that they also tried to do this to me in May of 2023 with inflated rates but I caught it that day before I took the car. Really also disappointed in Hertz gold service (since 1995) and Presidents Circle for not protecting the top customers. This franchisee OverlandWest who David Miller works for is in on this scheme. Will never rent from Hertz again and have taken my business to Avis. Interesting how the guy at Avis knew why he was getting a lot of Hertz customers switching. I've still got a case open with my credit card company and have been doing research on the Bend Redmond news channel and the District Attorney. Predatory Practices. AVOID IF YOU ARE RENTING AT REDMOND AIRPORT. I have been a Gold Member with Hertz for 15 years and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. This is a franchise location, so corporate will not go to bat for you with the predatory practices. I told them I was driving my car from the airport to Sun River for a family vacation and I asked (keep in mind the car was pre-booked online and to get the car key you have to go to the front desk and talk to the salesperson) if there was a plan where I could drop off the car when we were finished renting where I didn't need to refill the tank back to a full level (three kids and lots of luggage so convenience is ideal for us). They said "sure thing" and it was called the "FUEL PURCHASE OPTION". I was told I would be charged for the gas used and not a full tank of gas. So I elected to purchase that option. They charged me for the entire tank of gas. See the photo. 102 miles driven and Fuel Out = 8/8 and Fuel In = 1/8. A full SCAM and LIARS. When I saw my receipt emailed to me, I called to discuss the situation. They told me their manager, David, would be in the next morning...so I called and left a message. No return call. I tried three more times with three more voice messages...No return call. Look the reviews over the past 6-9 months. What a joke! Better Business Bureau has a claim now because of this. I thoroughly have enjoyed my Hertz experiences, but the way this franchise location took advantage of me and my family was completely uncalled for. This place is a disaster. Literally go anywhere else to rent a car. My rental broke down on me about 20 miles away from the airport. They changed me $460 more than I was quoted and agreed to. I filed a claim against them via Hertz Corporation. I was given a case number. Do NOT rent a car here!! They add miscellaneous charges on your credit card and just hope that you don't notice! I was supposed to be charged for one extra day and two car seats and they are trying to charge me $205 in a miscellaneous charge added to my rental charge I already paid for. This Redmond Hertz rented me a car for 1 day. I returned it at 8:35 am and took a video of all sides of the car since the car was in perfect shape when I got it. Then , at 4pm....7hrs later I get a call from their damage claim department in pico California asking for payment for damages. They claim window damage that is not on the car at my drop off time. I have called the local police to look into airport cameras to see what happened to it after drop off. Just a huge hassle and possibly a scam. Watch yourself very carefully with this company. Video everything , walk it with them while you video. Or...just NEVER rent from them. What a hassle. Will see how this turns out. I had an excellent experience with Hertz at the Redmond airport. Check-in was super efficient and the agent was very friendly. Most importantly, I dropped off my rental car at 4:30am (well before the desk was staffed) and left my cell phone in the locked car, which I realized after I had already dropped the keys in the box. I left a note with my travel companion's phone number, and by the time our flight landed I had a message from the manager saying he had retrieved my phone and would overnight it to me (at only the cost of their discounted shipping). If I could give them a zero, I would! Very difficult to get them to answer their phone, when I did call, they never told me they did NOT accept debit cards. Clerk was rude and told me that was their policy. I asked why it wasn't on their website or when I booked it. After reading all the negative reviews here I was thinking about not renting from this Hertz location. I don't discount people's negative experiences, so I'm not defending the past actions of bad employees. This is a very small Hertz location. RDM is a very small aiport, therefore you need to lower your expectations on car selection and availability. There is no President's Circle, Five Star or Gold board. Hertz has at the most 18 stalls in the parking lot for their fleet of cars. You really can't be too choosy here or you will be EXTREMELY disappointed. I got a Jetta which is ok but not ideal to drive up to Mt Bachelor in the winter; Ok not big deal I took a shuttle. When I arrived my car was ready, clean and they had my contract printed and ready. Service seemed adequate and I didn't have any issues. If you are looking for a Tesla, 4WD, and Ultimate Collection vehicle do yourself a favor and fly into Portland not here. read more

Beware!! Hertz/Hurts you hard!! Ive never rented a car from hertz because of a past accident from one of their drivers falling asleep at the wheel and totaling my car at 3 am. I swore I would never use hertz, until 12 years later I decided to finally give them a chance and I reserved a car to visit my grandfather and to go experience Crater lake. The lady at the front desk wasn't there when I first arrived. I waited 8 minutes until I was helped. She was very friendly and welcoming I told her about my plans of travel and if there was anything I needed to do before returning the car she said if I decide to refuel with them it's a bit cheaper with them so I accepted that and was given the keys and I was on my way. I was happy with the car it was cute and great mileage but the outlets didn't work I couldn't even charge my phone unless it was plugged into the backseat one... Welllll turns out it was the BIGGEST mistake! They charged me a $300 cleaning fee 2 weeks later!!! ?? !!! Because they said they found ash and smelled like cigarette smoke ?!... umm excuse me but first of all I've never touched a cigarette in my entire life so that was extremely offensive, second IF I had been told to return the car spotless and deep cleaned BEFORE returning it I WOULD HAVE!! Instead they rob me for $300 AND during a global pandemic!!! That's just ruthless. I understand your need try to make some money back due to Covid but to rob your own Customers is disgusting. I called to speak with a manger who was not available at the time and has yet to return my phone calls and email! Beware! If specs left behind or a random dust particles left behind you will be charged! Worst experience I have ever had with a business ever. The rep told me I didn't have a reservation after looking up my last name, despite the fact I was holding out my app on my phone with a reservation number. He refused to look at my phone and instead kept insisting rudely that I don't have a car reserved. He finally looked up my reservation number and realized he was wrong. When I questioned him on his method of refusing to look at my phone/reservation number.... He told me to go to the next counter and that he wasn't going to give me a car. As you can imagine the next 5-10 minutes was not very pleasant. He let me know that hertz is a franchise and not corporate, that he was the current manager at the moment, and that he was quitting anyway so basically I had no recourse to correct his action. I was blown away to say the least. I feel sorry for whoever the business owner is, but sadly this probably won't hurt them much as this is a demand business. read more

I rented two cars from this location in December 2010. The staff was friendly and helpful, the cars were clean, and they had baby car seats available. The rates were competitive, and they gave me a lower rate on a normally more expensive vehicle because it was the last car they had available. What makes this location great for me was that they helped me get back a brand new ski jacket (tags still on) that I left in the trunk when I returned the vehicle to fly home. So. I'm in an auto accident that has my car out of commission for more than a month. I have an auto rental from this place, one of the few privately owned Hertz franchises - take note, as this is important. I'm on a week to week and find out the place repairing my care is taking their sweet time so I talk to someone at this office who extends the rental out a month. Cool. Saves me money, right? Yeah. So, they call me three days after the month is up to tell me I am over the contract and I HAVE to bring the car in and close out the contract. Then I can just renew and leave with the same vehicle. What they don't tell me until after they have run my card is they charged me a daily rate for those three days EVEN THOUGH I WAS STILL RENTING THE CAR. Those three days wiped out any savings from the month of rental. Additionally, upon stating that they are actively taking advantage of me, nobody would look me in the face. I called and spoke with the national office which is how I found out this one is privately owned. The national office has made note of my complaint, told me to wait until I have completed the rental period and returned the vehicle, then contact them with both rental agreements and they would see what they could do for me as this was not normal treatment at one of the nationally owned stores. Advice: Run away. They truly are only interested in your money, not taking care of their customers. read more

Worst experience of my life. I was in a car accident so I just wanted to rent a car to take care of some things I make a reservation for a compact car for this morning at the bend hertz I show up and get dropped off at 9am they say they won't have one until noon even though I reserved it, so now I'm stuck there with no car and no ride so I have to walk quite a ways home. I make another reservation from home now mind you I have already paid for this vehicle, so I make the reservation for the Redmond airport hertz I get a ride again to this place. I get there and I am already greeted with a really snappy tone and an eye roll from chenelle the hertz clerk, she then starts my stuff and starts asking me about these things (extra fees and such) under her breath mumbling, and I keep trying to get a clear response of what extras she is talking about but she blows it off and tells me she doesn't have a compact car for me ( remember I went home and made another reservation after I had already paid for the one I never got) she says she has a big vehicle again not what I wanted but I just wanted to get on with my day. All the while chenelle is giving me the worst attitude ever. I go out to the car a mini van and three compact vehicles in the hertz spots next to it even though they said they didn't have any. While I'm getting in the van I find out from the bank she has charged my card again for another $333. I go back in tell her I don't want the mini van I'll wait, and I need to know why your charging me again, well she tells me its tax and more for a bigger vehicle and a deposit ( didn't I make two reservations for compact cars?) and again with her extremely rude behavior. Finally I ask for the manager and when he will be returning and she comes back with I don't know he is in bend I said I would go see him my self and she says he probably won't be there when you get there. I said well thank you for ruining an already rough day and she says your welcome. What a joke. What was left out was it was $26 per day!!! The Per Day bit was omitted! I rented a car from this location in redmond. We had made a reservation and when we arived the price was twice as much. they told us if we get the pre paid fuel then whatever we don't use they will refund. Also my personal car insurance covers rental cars as well as my own car. I told this to the lady and she said no you have to get the insurance. She was rude and did not explain things properly. I called this hertz when I got home and spoke with the manager David to let him know what had happened he then told me there was nothing he could do. Also this company is a privately owned hertz they do things a little different. If you think you are getting a car from a regular chain you are not. They have different rules and if you needed to return it at another airport in an emergency or something you are not allowed. I just wanted people who have been traveling and haven't done this a lot to be aware of this. Go to Avis or budget. My friends live in this area and they said to go to another rental place it will be mutch cheaper and better service. read more

We are long time regular Hertz renters. We rented a car here for the eclipse. The car was OK, service at counter slow. We returned the car - no one to check us in. One month later, I am sent a bill for serious chassis damage. They discovered this 1 week after car was returned. Then they also billed us for lost rental costs during the repairs, even though car not rented for 10 days after we had returned it. Was sent to a Claims company from the get go. They denied my dispute of the claim. No response from the Hertz place. Corporate Hertz people said this is an independent franchise (who knew?), so they would not get involved. We rent from Hertz to get the large company benefits & protections, but this was misleading. So, despite loyalty and frequent business, they just hosed us. Upon arrival at our destination in Bend we discovered the passenger side door did not function. Three phone calls and a day later we were told the excuse for not returning a phone call was "oh yeah, I forgot". This is their poor excuse for customer service?? I worked with a rep from the Redmond airport location named Chrissy, who held us up after messing up our reservation for a mini van. We got there at 9 am on Sept 7, and she said we wouldn't have a vehicle until 9pm. We had a minivan rented as it was the only vehicle that accommodate our group with our luggage. She was rude, blamed us and made it clear we were not a priority. We were told a minivan was not in the lot for us and we should try a different third row vehicle, which didn't come close to fitting our needs. We ended up spending 2 hours going through 4 different vehicles (some didn't fit, and others smelled so horrible we couldn't sit in them) before getting one, which resulted in me missing part of my sisters wedding which we traveled in for from WI. I was also charged more than I was told on the final bill, even after the agent said I would not have additional charges. I should have been charged approximately $247, and was charged $314. I have been disappointed to say the least in Hertz, and want the situation rectified with a full or partial refund. This is time that I, along with my wife and three young boys will not get back. Missing part of my sisters wedding was a massive disappointment and it was due to the lack of professionalism by Hertz. I have still heard nothing back after reaching out in various ways to Hertz in over a month. The lack of response so far has also made it clear Hertz does not take customer service seriously. I have been attempting to contact someone from the Hertz organization for almost a month now, regarding the poor rental experience in Redmond OR with Hertz. I have submitted complaints, called, and emailed and have yet to be contacted about the situation. There has been no response to horrible service and being charged a higher rate than what I should have been charged. Hertz has shown a pathetic display of professionalism and I would not recommend anyone to rent from the company. It is clear they have no regard for any individual renting from their organization. BEWARE! I have rented from this location a handful of times, when Avis cars were sold out. Twice they have filed claims against me for car damages that were not caused by me. It is nothing shorty of ridiculous. Once they charged a cleaning fee because the car was returned dirty! I reserved a Hertz car over a month in advance for a late flight arrival into Redmond. When I arrived at the Hertz counter, a totally incompetent lady named Jody informed me that there were no cars available even though I had a valid reservation. She said there would be no cars available for at least 2 more days. She was condescending and totally unhelpful. I ended up having to pay out of a my pocket for a cab to my Bend hotel ($50). Obviously, I still had no car the next morning. I spoke to David, the Area Manager, the next morning and he apologized and made things right. I am giving this Hertz location a 3 rating because Jody was worse than a zero, but David was a 5. Jody was the worst possible example of customer service and should be fired for gross incompetence. She was completely indifferent to a customer who had been screwed and needed help. David, on the other hand, was helpful and found a solution that satisfied me. If Jody is still at the Hertz counter next time I fly into Redmond, then I will know that Hertz doesn't care one iota about customer service. read more
