    It begins in an air conditioned San Pedro hertz office, but triple digit temperatures and heat exhaustion await. Yes, super corny but it's for dramatic effect. The car I booked was an economy for gas mileage purposes. But when I arrived to pick up the car, Hertz guy tells me there's only a Cadillac available for an extra fee. Acting like he's doing me a favor, he lowers the cost to $50 extra. Not having any other options I accept the Cadillac, not knowing the car could've been my aunt's tomb. My elderly family member and I embarked on a journey to Yellowstone where we had a wonderful time. But soon things take a turn for the worst on our way back home. The air conditioning in the Cadillac that I never wanted in the first place, that I paid extra for stops working, blowing hot air into the vehicle cabin. As we descend into the valley the temperature gauge hits triple digits, around 107°. My senior family member is sweating profusely, very tired, very hot, losing H2O thru sweat becoming dehydrated. I'm scrambling for a solution to this problem as it's Saturday afternoon and most of the Hertz locations close at noon. As I'm driving, I look up Hertz locations to find there's one open at the Fresno airport. I generally don't text and drive but the situation was dire. We were past Fresno so I turn around and head back to the direction I came from to the airport and much needed relief from the extreme heat. The Hertz agent verifies the AC is not working by walking to the car to make sure that I didn't forget to press the AC button and yes, she confirms the car's A/C is indeed blowing hot air and not working. I request to speak to a manager, but I'm told he's out back "washing cars" and "it will be a while until he's available." I wait a little while as my body core temperature goes back to normal. The manager never comes as he never intended to come out I'm sure. He does not have the decency to speak to a customer. At minimum I should've been offered an apology and the car comped. Nonetheless, the Caddy is switched out for a Sentra. Side note: the Sentra did not have a fob only a key. But at this point, I'll take a geo metro with spinners if it blew cold air. On our way back home the outside temperature in Bakersfield hit 112°. I'm not sure what would've happened had we not switched out the car, probably hunkered down in a motel that Hertz would not pay for then head out at 5am to avoid the heat. Fast-forward a couple days when I return the car. I asked to speak to a manager because the woman at Hertz Fresno airport told me I need to speak to a manager at the pickup location. But surprise surprise once again no manager is available and I never received a call or email even though the guy told me the manager would call/email me. The moral: Be wary, very wary of renting a car from hertz as your car may break down or not have ac. Clearly they don't service their vehicles. You may be stranded in 110 degree heat. Oh yea, the Caddy also had foul cigarette/BO combo odor. Avoid hertz if you're sensitive to smells and don't want to die of heat stroke while smelling BO and cigarettes... in a car silently without Bluetooth or CarPlay that you had to stick a key into the lock to open. The only good part about the SP location was this guy Luis I believe is his name. But he's gone and now it's all bad.

    They're supposed to close on Sat at 1pm according to Yelp+Google+Hertz, so I made a reservation for noon. I arrived 11:45am to find the staff had absconded with a notice stuck to the door (see attached). I had tried calling them at least a dozen times the previous week to confirm but just ended up with mailbox full message. Terrible service.

    The cars that this place rents to you. Completely bald on the front passenger side. Almost spun out of controll in the highway in the rain.

    They do not maintain the vehicles. Rented a toyota sienna to drive home from a cruise. Had to hold the sterring wheel 2" counter clockwise to hold the car straight. The vehicle was hydroplaning all the way home from I5 north. We had to drive 40mph. Even then, the thing would hydroplane. It felt like a death trap. Pulled to the side to see if we had a flat or something obvious but couldnt see anything, so we thought it was the wet roads that was the problem. Upon closer inspection when we got home, turns out the front passenger wheel was completly bald. Never had a problem with hertz or thier vehicles until now. Very hesitant to be a returning customer.

She picked me up from the auto body shop on a Saturday, brought me back to the branch, and made the entire process smooth. She was friendly, professional, and very accommodating while helping me select a vehicle and complete the paperwork. Her customer service was genuinely appreciated. Unfortunately, my experience afterward was less pleasant. Once my vehicle was assigned, I needed assistance locating the (a blue Nissan Rogue) that I was picked up in, to retrieve my belongings, including golf clubs. When I asked for help a taller black male stands at 6 ft and taller the representative I spoke with responded very casually and directed me to retrieve my items, as if we were just buddy buddies, leaving me on my own rather than offering assistance. This was surprising, especially given that I observed a much more attentive and accommodating approach moments later when he assisted other customers, overhearing their conversation their conversation and they had common ground that his spouse is Nigerian, I was left with some bitterness, and appalled. The lack of consistency and professionalism stood out and left me feeling overlooked as a customer. When I returned the keys, there was no acknowledgment or thank you, have a nice day,, which added to the overall discomfort of the interaction. I've worked in sales and customer-facing roles for many years, and professionalism and consistency matter. While Dee provided excellent service, the experience as a whole could benefit from better customer engagement and awareness from all staff members. Because of that inconsistency, I would rate this location as average.

Some vehicles were unavailable due to maintenance issues however they found a way to accommodate me. They did not give me the Red Kia Soul lol (thank god). Would recommend this location (as long as those employees are there lol)

I had reserved a Toyota Camry or similar, but when I arrived, I was informed that they didn't have any sedans available at the moment. Instead, they upgraded me to a 2025 Chevy Trailblazer crossover SUV at the same price :) Since the office was closed on Monday for the holiday, I was initially told that I would need to pay for an extra day because I wouldn't be able to return the car until Tuesday. However, they advised me to speak with the manager or staff when I returned the vehicle since the situation wasn't my fault. The car itself was practically brand new, very clean, and performed great throughout our trip. When I returned the car at 8:00 AM on Tuesday, I explained the situation to the employee assisting me. He immediately told me that I would only be charged for the days I actually used the vehicle. Since I returned it first thing in the morning, they waived the additional day's charge without any hassle. Overall, my experience was excellent. The staff was friendly, honest, and accommodating, and the rental process was quick and easy. I would definitely recommend this rental car company to anyone looking for a reliable, clean, and fairly priced rental vehicle. Thank you Midway rental car :)

I had to settle on a Volvo as a replacement. Kay was as helpful As she could have been but the Mercedes should have not been given to us in the condition it was in. Lastly when I returned the vehicle and asked for a ride home, I was told they only give rides home for insurance rentals and only Monday to Friday. I should have went with enterprise even though they cost a little more.
