I love small Airports - the Hertz counter at Toledo Express Airport is easy to get to. It's located right before you get to Baggage Claim. After arriving at Toledo Express Airport - I stopped at the Hertz counter to pick up our car - checked in with the agent - who was friendly and efficient. She handed me the contract and keys and told me which way to get to the car. I love that you walk outside and just around the corner is your car - which of course is in stark contrast to the good bit of traveling you have to do to get to your car at larger Airports. Our car was an almost brand new Ford something or other. It was very low mileage - and so new it had that new car smell when you got into the car. There is no Hertz Gold Express service here - but that is okay as it is a small Airport. Returning the car was also easy. We gassed up before returning, pulled into the return lot, noted our mileage, walked into the Terminal, hit the Hertz counter to drop off the keys - reported our mileage, and got a receipt from the Hertz agent. A few months ago, I booked a flight and car rental online. Didn't think anything of it until I was notified that my flight to Toledo (through Chicago) had been pushed to a later time. I figured everything would work out fine, and that just my family and I would be adversely impacted by this delay. How wrong I was. Turns out my arrival time of 7:30 was an hour and a half after this location normally closes. D'oh! I don't think the employee was pleased with that. One would think with so much digital information this should have been known, or something. But I picked up my rental, which only had 350 total miles on it, and zoomed on over to the Great Village of Lyons (it's great, because my folks live there). read more

Hertz toledo express was the worst experience ever!! Had my car reserved. As a gold member it was ready with my keys and name on the envelope when I arrived. The girl behind the counter was trying to fix an error she did to a customer in front of me. Waited 25 minutes, then finally asked if she could hand me my key. She made a very rude comment and kept making comments to other customers as i walked away. Never again will I use hertz at this location. If u dont Like your job, THEN QUIT. Learn some manners and customer service skills because the people behind me also left. Good job idiot read more

This place was absolutely ridiculous to work with. Horrible customer service. We were on our way moving from NY- NV our car broke down in the middle of OH so we had to try to get a rentals. We booked online through Expedia which allowed me to use a debit card we arrived at the facility to get our reservation and we were told we couldn't pay without a credit card. We were then told that if we reserved that day and came the next morning we could get a sedan and pay w a debit they would just run my credit. Okay fine. We make the reservation WITH THE SUPERVISOR he says he'll see us in the morning. We get a call this morning telling us the dealership has no cards nor does any hurtz in the area and told us we could be put on a wait list but we'd be behind a bunch of other people. No accommodations were made for us and we were NEVER once informed that gettIng a car was only 50/50 we were told we were going to be getting a car the next morning. This all happened mind you while the supervisor KNEW we were stranded. I will never do business with them again. read more

I rent cars from many locations globally, and as you would expect, none are equal. I find the counter staff at the Toledo Express Hertz to be exceptional. They are friendly, courteous, professional, flexible and accommodating. Though they have a limited selection due to size, I typically find what I need and it is clean and well maintained. The last car I rented was supposed to be a full size and was a bit small (Chrysler 200) for my 6' 3" frame, didn't have the bells and whistles I would have preferred, had higher miles than usual, and that typical rental car de-odorizer smell, but it performed well, everything worked, and it was reasonably comfortable. The Staff there more than compensated for those short-falls in their attitude. On several occasions when renting there, they have switched cars for me to accommodate my high expectations without attitude or complaint. I have several options in my area to rent (both hertz and non hertz) and regularly choose this rental location. I could name some of the staff as I have dealt with most of them, but am reluctant for fear of leaving someone out. They know who they are... Kind Regards, Randal S. read more

I was disappointed in this Hertz rental car agency. Three months ago I had reserved a Mercury Marquis or similar through the Hertz WEB site, but when I arrived last week there was nothing available in the category I had reserved. Instead I was offered at no additional cost a large GMC SUV which they considered an "upgrade". I believe the agent's quote was "nothing has come in". Given it's gasoline consumption and my expectation of a six hundred mile trip, I declined. After much discussion with the agent and receptionist, and after having two Toyota Camrys withdrawn (I was told they had not been serviced, smelled of cigarette smoke, had high mileage, etc.) I finally accepted a Nissan Altima. The brake pedal cover was missing and the two passenger side hubcaps had been scraped on a curb, but otherwise the car proved satisfactory, got good gas mileage and was comfortable. It seemed to me that this Hertz agency rarely has more than 15 or so cars available (I saw all of them) and at best has a mediocre service department. I'm surprised to have had this experience with Hertz and would not use them again. read more

Warning!! Hertz allows you to book vehicles that are actually not available. I was about to submit payment on a reservation, but thankfully called with a question right before I did. I was informed they did not have any cars available that day, even though their website was about to let me book one. The representative said this was a frequent occurrence!! She agreed that it was horrible, but said that it had been that way for a long time. When this occurs (meaning you arrive with your luggage and your rental car doesn't exist and never did) they apparently walk you to a different rental car company at the airport. In their own words it is 'not a good solution' because there is no guarantee the other rental locations are open or have vehicles. This is an unbelievable failure and oversight.
