If I could leave zero stars, I would. The branch manager is extremely unprofessional, rude, and clearly overwhelmed in his role. He lacks basic customer service skills and does not handle situations with any level of composure or respect. The overall experience was frustrating from start to finish. Communication was poor, and it was evident that proper procedures were not being followed. Most concerning, the vehicles are not thoroughly inspected, which raises serious safety concerns. Will never rent through Hertz again. Any money saved was absolutely not worth the hassle. The biggest issue with this location was the complete lack of professionalism and consistency. The phone was rarely answered, and when it was, I was given contradictory information almost every single time I called. At pickup, a staff member who was training a new employee was extremely condescending and rude to him. It was uncomfortable to witness, and no employee deserves to be treated that way in front of customers. I was also given the wrong receipt at pickup. When I called this location to get the correct one, I was told they couldn't email or reprint it. I then called another location, and they emailed it to me immediately without any issue. When I needed to extend my rental, I called and was told by a staff member to "call back because he doesn't have time right now." When I called back, the same employee told me he couldn't process the extension and directed me to another number. When I called that number, I was told that the original rental location had to handle the extension. I called back and relayed this information, and suddenly the same employee was able to help. It was clear he simply did not want to deal with it initially. Another major issue was the store hours. Both the Hertz website and Google listed this location as open on Saturday, but when I arrived, no one was there. I even called another location to confirm, and they said the store should have been open. If the posted hours were incorrect or the store had to close unexpectedly, there should have been a note on the door instead of making customers waste time driving there and waiting. Getting my final drop off receipt was another unnecessarily frustrating process. I was told it had already been emailed when the rental was closed, but when I asked what email address it was sent to, no one could answer. I was then told they would email it, they didn't. The next day I called again and was told it would be sent by the end of the day, again, it wasn't. On another call, I was told they "didn't have time." Each time, I explained that I needed the receipt for insurance reimbursement. Eventually, I called corporate and had the receipt emailed to me while still on the phone, the entire process took less than five minutes. If staff genuinely don't have time to assist customers, they should direct them to someone who can. Customers should not have to repeatedly call for basic assistance. The lack of professionalism was also obvious during phone calls. More than once, I was told to "hold" without actually being placed on hold, which meant I could hear everything being said in the office. On one call, I heard a staff member say to another employee, "I don't have time to deal with this" in reference to my call. That is completely unacceptable customer service. This location seriously needs better communication, better customer service training, and significantly more professionalism. read more

How a location like Hertz allows this. he indicated than likely corporate had arranged for the rental but it was him and not corporate the one who decides if the car can be picked up and when. he told us to come back tomorrow no matter what. I also work and cannot just change my schedule so easily. I almost never do reviews, especially bad ones, because everyone can have a bad day, but I will never use this location again. I was in an accident and needed to get a rental through my insurance. I decided to try Hertz as they are local and when I went to pick it up, it felt unprofessional and chaotic. After about an hour and a half of waiting, the car was finally cleaned and we were able to take the car. During the rental period, my son had someone hit him and we filed a claim with our insurance company as they were paying for the rental. We dropped it off on time and with enough gas, however Hertz had to have him go back down and fill out their paperwork because the claim wasn't good enough. Just trying to get through their phone tree was hard enough! In addition, they lost the claim number I gave them as they are too chaotic/disorganized to keep good notes/records, ("I wrote it down on a piece of paper but with all the places I am in during the day in the office, I can't find it") and, after confirming all they needed was the claim number and his license, they proceeded to have my son call me to get my policy number. You didn't know you needed it when I talked to you earlier? In addition, the person I dealt with could not remember what insurance company they were being paid by for my rental (kept saying I was with Commerce; not my insurance company). If they are that chaotic/disorganized in managing their fleet/service, I can only imagine what it looks like behind the scenes. read more

I booked a rental which was scheduled to be picked up late morning so I could have a late morning return. This location apparently didn't have any rental cars, but instead of calling me to let me know, the manager waited until I got there to tell me. This was the second time I had been to this location, and considering I was called about 4 different times during my first appointment I know this manager could have let me know early in the morning to let me know so that I could try and do something else but she could have cared less. This was the same careless attitude she had towards the other customer that was in that she was stringing along who was also trying to rent a car. Since it was late in the morning and they closed at noon she knew that it would eventually be too late for them to rent the vehicle either. I can't imagine all of the people she has personally screwed out of a vehicle, seems like she enjoys it though. Terrible. If you can go somewhere else, then you probably should. read more

Rental from Hertz local store: Park Ave. Worcester, MA I have rented from other places and this would have been maybe my second time renting from Hertz and it will certainly be my last. I rented a car from them as they were recommended by the body shop that was repairing my car after I was involved in a car accident (that was not my fault.) I have rental coverage so the rental was covered by the insurance company. That being said... This was the worst, absolute WORST car rental experience I have ever had. Getting the car was not an issue. The car was comfortable and appeared well cared for and the staff Angelica was nice. There was pressure to get additional coverage (but that decision does ultimately rest with me the patron.) The return was not an issue as I left it with the auto body repair shop who then emailed the local Hertz to come and get the car. This is where the troubles began unbeknownst to me. I picked up my car on a Friday. The hold that was placed on my credit card was released by the following Tuesday. When I checked my account on the following Saturday over a week later I had a charge from Hertz. Mind you I did not get a call about a charge or a bill about a charge. I was just charged an additional nearly $60 for a rental that was covered by insurance! Here it is Monday and I have spoken to 5 different people from Hertz (2 from the local office; 2 from the customer billing department; one from the insurance department) that have been able to tell me I was charged for having the rental car until Sunday (even though I dropped off the car on Friday) and was charged for the additional coverage, which I discontinued within 24 hours of signing the original contract. Also I was charged for full coverage even though I signed for partial coverage. AS it was explained to me at the time of rental I could discontinue the additional coverage at any time if I went to the local shop. I did this within 24 hours and was charged for 2 whole days despite being told in the store the coverage was ended when I left. The most stressful piece of this is being told by customer service that Hertz did not make any errors and it was the insurance and body shop and even alluded that I made an error. The only error I made was renting from Hertz. The additional aggravation is ANY money that is refunded will take up to 5 business days to reimburse. All I can say is save yourself from this STRESS and rent from Enterprise! read more

Yelp requires "1' star in order to leave a review, which with the service & treatment I received is far too generous. I rented a car for a 1 week period, to be returned to the same location. When renting Im not looking for anything special. However,I expect that the car be safe and operable. When inspecting the car I was to be given, I made them aware that there was a cut in one of the tires. I was told it was nothing... My answer was that a cut is a cut & I'm not feeling good about the possibility of a flat. Unfortunately there were no other cars there and I was pressed for time... So, against my good judgement I ended up taking the car. Within a day & a half it went flat .... It just so happened on a cold & rainy day of course. Is there ever a good time for a flat tire? To spare you all the idiotic details, I ended up after several calls using my AAA . I then tried to replace the car & the BS I went through was insane. It didn't help that I was a hour away from where I rented it.. thinking Hertz is a natural chain, I asked for and needed help. Forget - about-it! I was given an address of the closest Hertz office & went there which made things turn worse. My patience grew thinner and thinner when I was then told that they aren't responsible for tires. I am a reasonably sane adult , but when pushed to the degree I was ...not so much! Haha ! The office was loaded with potential customers and I wasn't having it - let's just say that they ended up putting a new tire on the car as quickly as possible. I then drove off. Now, to end this disaster:. Returning the car, I drove into the lot earlier than the car was due & parked. I then sent the person who was picking me up a text that I'd arrived. Before I could finish, the customer service rep actually opened the door of the car , interrupted me stating they needed the car right away - they are short on cars.... Unbelievable! He then proceeded to give me the final bill while I was still in the car - way before the time was up. I Know myself... I know when I've had enough & just need to breathe! I've rented cars all over the country & never ever have had such an absurd & ridiculous experience. I will NEVER use this company again. And if I hear anyone I know just mention the name...... Absolutely the worst place. I was in a car accident and picked up by "Bob" who drove my sister and I to the location. The whole ride over it sounded like he was looking for a date. The young man at the desk was LAZY blaming his slowness on a nonexistent sunburn. He also told me I should go to the hospital so I could make sure "my brain wasn't bleeding and I wouldn't die tomorrow." The car stunk of smoke and had low tire pressure. I called about it and was told it to fix it myself. I was then never refunded my deposit and was charged one week later and 2 weeks later with charges that made no sense and I never received a receipt or communication about. HORRIBLE. I had a great experience renting from this Hertz location. They picked me up from my house and brought me to the branch for my rental which was so convenient for me! I talked to Lauren about a weekend rate and got a great deal and drove a brand new 4 runner! It was fast, easy, and everyone in the office was friendly. Their customer service is always outstanding at this branch. Each time I go in and talk to different employee's I have never been disappointed. They are very helpful, and efficient, and I am always happy to walk in there to get my car. I have been in a Customer Service field, all my working life, and I would be ecstatic to have anyone of these great Enterprise employee's on my team. They are truly outstanding!! I'm so disgusted in my recent rental. I was able to reserve this vechile via the internet with my debit card for my 10 year old nephews funeral services down in Georgia. When I went to retrieve my rental they would not rent me the vechile with my debit card. I had to use the credit card of my family member who drove me to receive the rental. Then had to pay an extra charge to be added as a driver daily. And then because my name wasn't on the credit card, eventhough I was on the rental, they wouldn't use my AAA discount. So the rental was significantly more expensive than quoted. Then I got COVID while at the services and your website states that someone will pick up the vechile since I am quarantined. However, that didn't happen. They made me drop it off and I had to take an Uber home putting someone else at risk. Now I am seeing additional charges from Hertz on the credit card used. This is disgusting business and I won't be going through Hertz again for a rental, nor suggesting anyone else does! Terrible service and rates. And if you don't rent to people with debit cards, maybe you shouldn't be able to rent them online with one! read more

Probably one of the worst customer service I have ever had. I was told one price and was charged 2 separate transactions totaling over $250 more than the price told. It took over 3 weeks to sort everything out with Hertz, Corporate and my Bank. Ryan specifically gave horrendous service. I had called him to inquire about the charges and he had been rude, unprofessional and actually HUNG up on me. When I called him back he had acted as nothing happened. Oh you didn't return full, well I didn't get it full and I have pics. Let me call you back. I wait 2 hours. NOTHING. I call again. Then I am directed to Park Ave location. Talk to someone who claims he is manager. Explain dirty car/half tank of gas. He is more interested in how dirty vehicle is. He will issue refund and will call me back. Sure, okay. I wait and call them on Tuesday. Spoke with a different person who also claimed to be manager. He checked, yeah, refund has been issued. Will take 7 days. Mind you I have YET to get an apology for charge, only for dirty car. The FOLLOWING Monday, still no refund in my bank. I call corporate office. They have absolutely NO RECORD OF ANYTHING regarding a refund or overcharge with this vehicle. NOTHING! They are sorry and will issue me a partial refund because I have to pay for airport use! There was NEVER any talk of that charge, and the vehicle was prepaid, we were told there would be NO additional charges. But sure, nickel and dime me for YOUR mistake. Great customer service there!! The car that was rented to me smelt as if someone smoked a pack of cigarettes with the windows closed and trapped the smoke in it for a week. There was a burnt hole on the front seat where someone put a cigarette out. The smell was an issue with my asthma and I had to buy my own car cent clips and drive with the windows down constantly because the smell was so strong. The location I rented it from, Park Ave. in Worcester, noted the fuel level of the vehicle as full when I rented it (meaning it would need to be returned full in order to avoid being charged $9.99/gallon to fill it) however the vehicle was actually at half a tank when I pulled out of the lot. Definitely a cheap gimmick to have to spend extra money to fill the car more than when I got it. Returning the car was fine, service at the Worcester airport location was great. Had to return there because the park Ave location isn't open on weekends which doesn't seem to make sense to me for a car rental business. read more

Terrible, I went there on a Friday to cancel my LDW and they had closed early, Hertz won't let me cancel over the phone or online. After a long weekend I owed over $319 just on insurance alone. I recommend priceline.com as an alternative, I was able to rent a similar car for only $12 a day as opposed to the $60+ I was being charged by Hertz. I was also charged $38 to go through a toll on the pike, I am NEVER renting from Hertz ever again. read more

My parents were up for an extended visit, so we decided to rent them a car using my corporate discount. When we arrived to pick up the car, the first one we were offered had cigarette burns in the seat and smelled strongly of smoke. They gave us a second one, and then said it would cost almost as much as the rental itself to add a second driver, but told us they'd rent to my father and honor the quoted corporate rate. We asked about extending if we needed to, and they said not to worry about it--we assumed we'd get a call if they needed it back and we still had it, but we should have clarified what "don't worry about it" meant. We kept the car for a couple of extra weeks, brought it back, and got charged DOUBLE the rate we were quoted. Dad has tried calling them twice, and gotten no response, and I tried raising the central office on Twitter--they just quoted corporate policy at me and then ignored me. I had engine issues with my personal car that my car dealership was taking care of. In the mean time my dealership gave me a Hertz Rental car to use for the time span that it would take for my engine to be fixed. It ended up being a month and 4 days that I needed to use this Hertz Rental Car. I kept asking repeatedly Adam, the man who brought me to Hertz from my dealership if I would be getting charged since my credit card was on file and he told me no and not to worry about it. I had the car for a whole month and every few days I would get text messages on my cell phone telling me that my rental is past due and I needed to return it immediately. After numbers back and fourth text messages and calls to Hertz asking if I would be charged any fees they kept assuring me that I would not have to pay anything since my insurance company was the ones who were paying for the charges. After my engine was fixed and the Rental was returned, my insurance company was then in the process of cutting a check for the expenses. Out of no where 2 weeks ago a charge of $1,177.40 was posted to the credit card that was on file when I received the rental car back in April. No one at the Hertz Dealership or Corporate informed me that my credit card would be charged the balance because they did not received the check from my insurance company "fast enough". This has put me in a situation with my mortgage lender because I am closing on a house! How dare they just charge my credit card the full amount after having a hold on it for 2 months and not tell me. This is extremely unprofessional and I am disgusted with this company. I may not be able to close on this home I have been working on for the last month. When I called up Hertz and asked for them to escalate the reversal because they received the payment last Thursday 6/30/2016 they said they will need to email their district manager to approve the reversal. It has now been 1 week and there is still no approval!!! What is going on here Hertz? Why is it taking so long to send a quick email to your district manager to approve this reversal? That is almost $1200 your company is screwing me over for. Like I told John at Hertz this am I will be there tomorrow at lunch time if this district manager does not call me and tell me personally he has approved the reversal. This was one of the WORST rental experiences j have ever had. After being Ina car accident I needed a rental to be able to get around while my car was being fixed. The young lady I worked with was amazing and I thought that this was going to be an easy experience. Boy was I wrong!!!! Several weeks into the rental I realized I had a bubble in the tire. I am a very cautious driver and knew I didn't cause this problem and it was probably just a tire defect. When I called the Park Ave locations ended up speaking with the assistant manager who basically told me that a lot of women hit curbs and that it was my fault and my responsibility to replace the tire. When I stated I understood the policy but would like to talk about options he laughed/scoffed at me. The entire phone call was completely demeaning and unnecessary. After returning the car I received a phone call from hertz stating they "accidentally " charged me $219 dollars that I didn't owe. As a graduate student I do play the balancing of the bills game and $200 missing from my account it detrimental. When I called the following week to ensure that this issue was being fixed I was told a manager wouldn't be in to sign off on the paperwork until later in the week and that it would take another 5 business days before I could expect my money back. This basically means I wouldn't be getting my money for several weeks. While the money part I can slightly understand I am still extremely disappointed in the way I was spoken to about the tire.
