Got a reco from a Woodland friend to check this sandwich shop out since I was in the area. Stopped by for a late lunch on Saturday. My friend's reco was the 12" Liberty Bell Ringer. I asked the cashier if she had a reco for a side, and she recommended the cheese curds. The amount of food that came was enough for two meals. The sandwich had all the elements I was looking for - large amounts of tender beef, gooey cheese, peppers for kick and flavor, and nice crusty bread. The cheese curds were fantastic. Best crust I've had on a cheese curd and nice cheese pull. Some tanginess from the ranch dip is a nice complement. read more

First time trying He's From Philly Cheesesteak and it was pretty good. We came on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was not too busy. We ordered the 8" Traditional Cheesesteak with provolone cheese ($13.75). The cheesesteak was tasty and the bread was nice and soft. Overall, it was a pretty good cheesesteak. The ambiance was very casual. You order at the counter and the staff brings you your order when it's ready. Service was so so. The staff didn't seem very friendly when we left as we said thank you and bye and they ignored us. read more

I've been here more than a few times. It started out very rough from faciality issues to been closed for outside special events. But the last few times, they have really pulled it together. The bread is sooo soft here!! The meat was tasty, you have options with the cheese, yellow American, provolone and the traditional yellow cheese. What I thought made this place stand out was the owner, Terry, he was talking to all the patrons, very nice and welcoming personality. I also appreciated the fact that with such a large sandwich it's prepared in a way where your sandwich isn't falling apart when you take a bite out of it. Stopped there for lunch after checking out the Woodland Farmers Market close by. The inside had a nice decor of Philadelphia-related stuff such as team memorabilia, Ricky, etc. We both went with the Bell Ringer cheesesteak which has jalapeños inside. The meat was so juicy and flavorful; plenty of cheese to go around; peppers were very nice! I honestly don't think I've come across a cheesesteak sandwich this good in my area. We also got some lemon pepper wing and fries to share. The wings were a little small, but still very good; while the fries were nice and crispy. We met Tracy (hope I spelled that right) who went out of his way to make sure all customers were satisfied with their orders and made us feel right at home. I live in Vacaville, but would make the journey out to Woodland if ever craving a cheesesteak sandwich. Next time I may check out the pepperoni version. read more

Staff were polite, although the young man working the register could use a little more knowledge about the menu and food allergies. He wasn't too helpful with suggestions, but overall they were accommodating to requests, and food came up quickly. We dined in, and I was satisfied with my 8 inch Philly Cheesesteak with provolone, onions, and mushrooms. It was very flavorful with the onions and shrooms finely chopped in with the chopped tender steak. Mayo included but was very light. The bread was soft and held the meat well. I thought for the price, there should've been more meat, but I guess that's our economy right now. I ordered 2 other cheesesteaks to go, one "plain," meaning no cheese or mayo, and the other with mushrooms. Well the people who ate them thought the meat was dry and bland. Super plain. Cheese steaks are easily my favorite sandwich of all time, so I had high hopes for this place. They pile the meat HIGH! Which is great, you get a lot of beef in each bite of the sandwich. The meat is very thin and chopped up like a proper cheese steak and you get to choose what kind of cheese. I got a hoagie so it had lettuce tomato and mayo. The bun is soft and satisfying to bite into. Overall, I enjoyed how it tastes. The things I didn't like: curly fries did not come out hot. What a hidden gem! We heard about this place on Good Day Sacramento and drove from Plumas Lake just to give it a try! We were not disappointed, WOW the best Philly Cheesesteaks I have ever had! The roll was perfectly soft and warm!! The service was excellent, very invested in their customers, ensuring everything is perfect! Even the fries were spectacular! The only thing during lunch rush is there is limited seating, could benefit from putting in some booths. I got the 8" mushroom Philly cheesesteak and could only finish half of it! I was stuffed! Growing up outside Philly, I was excited to give this place a try. I even told the gal behind the counter and asked if I was going to be disappointed but she assured me I wouldn't. We were here just after they opened so no line to contend with. I ordered the triple cheesesteak and my hubby had the chicken mushroom sandwich. You can tell he's not from Philly! We grabbed a spot at one of the bare bones metal table and chairs and waited a few minutes for our order. The decor leaves a lot to be desired. It is bare bones and cheap with fireworks playing on the overhead screen. Strange. The food arrived and I have to say that it was okay. This is a 3.5 star experience that I've rounded up as my last review of the year. Definitely not legit Philly cheesesteaks but pretty good. My cheesesteak was seriously lacking cheese, the meat had been ground down to a pulp, and the onions were way too big and undercooked. No one bothered to check. Pricing is a bit high. They are actually priced higher than either Pat's or Geno's in Philly. A sauce option was not available for the cheese curds but is available for purchase. Petty at the prices they are charging. I have a been there done that attitude here and will likely not return. Much like IYKYK, in this case if you don't know Philly cheesesteaks, they're probably going to be great for you. I am captivated. I feel cozy and fulfilled. I will be a customer again and again. I love Philly cheesesteaks! Love jersey mikes and some other classic local spots. I have been hearing non stop from a friend this place is a must check out and I am so glad i stopped by! Very hole in the wall but modern feel. When i came in no one was there except the cook and I didn't mind the wait and time he took making the food before helping me. I got the triple cheese steak but added bell peppers because quoted from him "we can do anything." I also got the cheese curds because my friend highly recommended them. This place is local owned and I want to support and be a patron. Philly cheesesteaks are a messy glob of meat saturated with cheese, and any cheesesteak lover knows this. This place did not disappoint and it was made with love. I got the 12 inch and it was overflowing with meat and the fixins. The bread was not even toasted but dripping with oil from the grill, but that is what a REAL Philly cheesesteak is. I understand the hype and I understand the love for the taste and authentic feel. The cheese curds also didn't disappoint and I could see they were pre coated and frozen pieces before being added to the fryer and are not some frozen package refry. This is a true gem of a spot and it's a standout for real classic American dishes in woodland area. (of all places...) A couple of weeks ago, we drove all the way from Dixon on a Sunday, only to find the restaurant closed--NO signs, NO notice, NOTHING. We called while standing outside and could see someone moving around inside the restaurant. They saw us waiting but never came out to explain or acknowledge us. It's disappointing to go out of our way to support a small business and be met with silence. Honestly, it makes me want to take my business to Jersey Mike's or somewhere that values its customers. After several calls someone ultimately picked and said they were doing up "updates" and were closed for the day with NO apologies! We sat outside the business. Take out | Dinner | $10-20 Just came here for the first time and will be going back again and again. My wife and I each got a cheese steak. I got the "Bell Ringer" and she got the Triple Cheese Steak and both were delicious, filled to the brim and smothered in cheese. Joining the He's from Philly review line A friend and I went today - we went in knowing not to be in a hurry just in case since they were new. But even with a line, a huge order before us, taking our time eating plus doing some work catchup while eating we were out in 50 min. More than reasonable IMO Food - excellent - curds and chili cheese fries worth going back for I had the pepperoni Philly with some added toppings and my friend had a more plain one - they definitely exceeded my expectations. I think they missed the cheese on mine (my friend ordered cheeseless) but they happily melted some on for me and even double checked I was happy. Customer service was spot on. Price point seemed fair and only a hair more than a chain of similar size - I only ate about half - plenty of sandwhich! It was beyond filled. However a bit more than I want to spend at lunch on a regular basis but I also ordered "fancy" sides not just chips or plain fries so that isn't a norm everytime either.. so taken that into account was definitely well worth the price. They give a $1.50 for combos so makes your drink half off. Will definitely go again - hope people keep this place around. Knock off one star for now but I'm sure they will get that back with time. Food deserves 5+ stars Biggest negative for me - Their cashier (lady) seemed quite confused and wasn't overly friendly like rest of staff. She definitely held up the line figuring things out and had to reask customers for info. Another employee had to keep helping her. We were near the register so I watched this over and over. Maybe she would do better prepping and another person on register. Second negative - while the food excelled their ranch was subpar - seemed like a cheap jug of thick buttermilk ranch. Maybe it's because I was starving, maybe it's because I had been hoping to stop by for months and this was my first chance, or maybe it's because the owner and his family were so nice, but the cheesesteak I just devoured was fantastic. With all due modesty, I am not a stranger to cheesesteaks. The roll is critical, and this one was soft, with a nice chew. My wife saw a picture on a Facebook foodies group, and we decided to go for lunch. As we walked in, everyone was so friendly. Tracey, the owner, took order. We sat it seemed to take a while. We kinda figured the oder got mixed up. Tracey let us know it went out as to go order, very apologic. The fresh sandwich was everything I was hoping for. The bread was soft but did not get too soggy with the meat. The mix of meat american cheese( based on Traceys' suggestion) was excellent perfectly cooked . We also got curly fries, which are quite tasty. The best part was Tracey sitting and sharing stories of the restaurant and some of his next plans.
