Except....they wanted to do X-rays of my mouth, and upsell me new dentures. I could tell that all I was to them is a sack of cash! Personally, I don't understand why they would need to do X-rays when the problem is a removable prosthetic device not part of my natural body. Sorry, but I don't willingly sign up to have my body dosed with radiation (unless there's a damn good reason to do so!). When I told them I'm not comfortable doing X-rays, I was told "it's non-negotiable". EFD didn't do any of that. I went in, dropped off the denture, and picked it up the next day. Great customer service. No hassles, no upselling. If and when I need new dentures, they will be my go-to. They did a great job on the repair.

After my intake appointment I received a bill for the full price of the intake appointment. My insurance told me they (and most Insurances) don't approve 2D photos unless there is a medical necessity for them and that they billed the intake as a "Doctor Exam" which I had met my amount of Doctor Exams for the year of 2025. When I called them, I was told they only verify the Insurance would be accepted and they don't check to ensure insurance will cover the appointment, which is completely different than what I was told when I scheduled the appointment. So now I am on the hook for $200 and I am not even going to use them because of their shady business practices. I think they have sent me to collections three times now for bills I didn't know i had. I settle up when I leave, and then there's more charges. I call to take care of those charges, but it doesn't take care of them. And all of a sudden, without any notice, I'm in collections for some bill I had no idea I owed for a visit I had 1.5 years ago. It's crazy. My wife has a separate account, same problems. My wife had never been in collections before Manatee dental. Ridiculous. I am done.

I was faced with a decision to either have a lower denture made (I already had an upper) or to go with lower inplants. After looking at the options, I went with the much higher cost inplants. Big mistake. I thought that they could make my upper denture fit tighter and more secure by doing a reline. They did do one but the improvement wasn't enough to allow me to expand my food choices very much. The inplants fit well, but do seem to collect a great deal of food particles. Bottom line... really think through the cost/benefit before leaping for inplants. If I was smart, I would have had upper and lower inplants years ago when I wasn't retired and on fixed income.
