A classic incarnation of a Wisconsin Supper Club very near New Buffalo, Michigan. Start with an Old Fashioned, end with a Brandy Alexander. Enjoy the complementary cheese spread (don't get more Wisconsin than that!) and try the French Onion soup as a starter. The menu is big on meat and fish - and we mean "big" portions of meat and fish. Hubster's birthday, so spoiled him with dinner at Heston Supper Club. He wanted the King crab, but it was not available, so he ordered the Seafood Combination, walleye and perch, panko fried. I had the Petite Cut Prime Rib. My husband enjoyed the large portions of fish, perfectly cooked, crunchy and delicious. My prime rib was very tender, seasoned mildly, ordered "chef's preference" and cooked just right. Must make special mention of the mushroom soup...have you ever taken the first bite of something and felt like exclaiming, "Eureka!"? The absolute best mushroom soup I've ever had. My husband said he would have been happy with just a bowl of that for dinner! For his birthday, he was surprised with a bowl of peppermint ice cream. (And a $5 off coupon received electronically earlier today from our last visit.) Sweet! One thing I love is the beautiful drive to/from Heston through woodsy winding hilly roads, past farms and streams, and little dirt roads that beckon. We had a wonderful meal with exceptional service. We love the comfortable atmosphere. For a Wednesday afternoon, it was fairly busy and very loud; difficult to converse. Parking was not a problem, but it can be on weekends during the peak season. Handicapped friendly. Very nice bar; we don't drink, but it looked stocked well with the best liquors. Excellent menu with choices for all ages and tastes. A Thursday birthday meal - the pricey prime rib was tough and barely warm, same with the baked potatoes. We've never been disappointed in a meal here before, but tonight was very disappointing. Don't think this will be our celebration choice any more. Service was slow, but our little blonde bus girl rocked. p.s. I ordered the petite prime rib, medium rare, with asparagus on the side. Perfectly cooked, what a bonus. Instead of the salad, my wife and I ordered the soup of the day, Cream of Mushroom soup. Went there the Saturday before Easter with my family for the first time and we were very happy. First off I am in a wheelchair but we had no problem getting in and out. The food was very good, my wife and daughters had the prime rib and were very happy with it, while others had the whitefish and I had the pork chops and all were well cooked and taste good. For dessert everyone shared the bread pudding and the coconut pie which everyone really enjoyed. My only complaint would be the drinks could be a little bigger but other than that the best thing was watching my granddaughter eating snails for the first time, (she really liked them). We always eat there every year on our anniversary and spend at least $100-+. which is a splurge for us, given our current economic situation. I was planning a large family dinner that would fill their entire back room until this visit. Our waitress ignored us and served us after serving 3 other tables arriving after us. She was very rushed and rude. We ordered the prime rib medium well. When I got mine I thought I thought I was going to puke. It was a walking cow literally. I could not even take 1 bite. I asked if she could ensure it got cooked to medium well. She took it and was back within 1 minute with the twin of the 1st cow walking. Again, but this time I sweetly asked for a to go box but now inside I was furious! I said something to the lady up front and she said well have a nice night. Frustration continued and I thought now I'm super hungry. I sent a message to management the next day he said We will fix it because we don't want to lose your business. Mind you a dinner over 100.00 he sent me a $25- gift card. I promise you that was no compensation. I'm so sorry the original owner died because he would have never let this stuff go on. We will not be back and we will no longer tell people it's worth the drive and money. They are rude and with my incredible chef husband, well cook at home next year! read more

This is the second time I've called to do take out and I've been told it's too busy. Fran is the one that has done this twice. I called on Saturday night and it was busy but they just told me it was going to be 40 minutes, a different girl was working and I appreciated that. I live very close and it's very convenient for me but I'm disappointed that this keeps happening to me. read more

I stopped by here on a Thursday right when they opened, and I'm glad I did because the place got packed within half an hour. I ordered the prime rib and smoked bbq rib combo. Took my husband here for his birthday dinner - first time here! No wait when we walked in on a Friday night which was great. They only take reservations for large parties so no problem walking right in and being seated. We heard about the prime rib and were excited to order it and it was delicious ! Our server was excellent and very friendly! They brought my husband peppermint ice cream for dessert with a birthday candle- our favorite ice cream! It was a bit crowded and loud when we arrived but we were fine with it. My daughter had the mac and cheese. They served rolls and breadsticks with butter and cheese spread before we ate dinner. We have not been to Hestons in 40 years. We couldn't believe how delicious the meal was and will definitely be back. From the time we stepped into the restaurant we felt like royalty. the hostess sat us in less than 5 minutes. our server Lindsay was right there after we sat down. She was very attentive and kept our coffee full. we took half our meal home because we were so full. When leaving my husband needed help because he has a prosthetic and pretty much blind. Two ladies helped my husband down the steep ramp with his walker and helped us all the way to the car across the parking lot .I don't know who she was but she might have been the manager or owner. They remodeled and it looks great. The spread cheese and variety of crackers is still a tasty way to start! The cheese is addicting. The coconut shrimp appetizer was small, only five shrimp. The shrimp tasted good but not for the price. The French onion soup is really good! Plenty of cheese and the broth is flavorful. My chicken dish with wild rice was ok. The chicken was kind of dry. My hubby ordered the porterhouse steak. Delicious! Tender, juicy and seasoned just right. The baked potato was huge with crispy skin, yum. They seriously have the best coconut cream pie! Went there with family for a birthday celebration. The new mocktails need work we tried 5 and they mostly tasted like sugar water. The bread and crackers and cheese were okay. The walleye was good so was the rare steak. The cauliflower side was not good. The chicken Kiev was too rich and couldn't be finished the chicken breast was good. Ate at Heston last night. Went there specifically for the prime rib which they are famous for. It did not disappoint. Had the small 8oz cut which was plenty for me. Also had the onion soup for an appetizer. It was delicious. Also liked that there were fresh chives on the sour cream for my backed potato. The waitress was friendly & efficient. My wife and I enjoy, going to the Heston Supper club. We went for dinner on 11/5/2025, and there was a terrible smell in the restaurant. We were seated in a room, and the smell was so bad that we asked to be reseated in another room. I'm not sure what was going on, but it was bad enough for our party of four, to make the decision to not eat there again. When we brought up the situation to the staff, they moved us to another room, but they didn't acknowledge the problem. The food was good the service was a bit slow, but the smell in the other room was terrible. It smelled like a sewage problem, or a dead animal in their heating vents. We were really looking forward to a great steak dinner and experience but sadly disappointed. We ordered frog legs, oysters for appetizers and a variety of fish, lobster, ribs and filet mignon. The cheese, crackers and bread were yummy as well as the bottle of wine.... sadly the dinners were all very disappointing, the food was cold, the ribs were dried out, and the filet mignon was overcooked and had no flavor. Cold mashed potatoes, mushrooms from a can but the beans were tasty. Perhaps it was just an off-night Thursday, but we won't be back. So many other choices without hit or miss. read more

First time at Heston"s and it's certainly worthy of a repeat visit. Lets start with the starters: We tried the frog legs - they were ok... haven't had frogs legs in awhile so maybe I'm not the best to judge. / Duck Legs - again ok... the legs are breaded and fried like chicken legs, but the duck is a little on the though side. / Stuffed Mushrooms - by far the best of the three and that's what I'll get again next time. Entree: Fried Perch - over all good... A little salty on the seasoning. Prime Rib - YES this is what they do and its pretty good! Seasoned great with a little smoke. My dinner salad was good with a very tasty ranch dressing / coleslaw is certainly better than average and I would recommend them if you're in the mood for salad. / our bake potatoes were a little on the (been in the warmer drawer) too long and were dry. Service: Adele was spot on and hardworking..Checked in enough to let you know, she's paying attention - Her hard work raised this review from 3.5 to 4. Ambiance: Its fine... we sat in the front, contemporary tables and chairs. Hardwood floors and a fireplace. I probably would have preferred to sit toward the back section, but it's definitely louder, making conversations a little harder. It's good place and I can see why its been around so long. I found Heston's by accident one afternoon as I took a leisurely drive, on my way back to Chicago. This area is just lovely. I saw a cute train museum, a vintage gas station and this quaint supper club. I told myself to remember to stop by for dinner the next time I'm visiting the area. My friend and I were staying in New Buffalo and had planned on dining at a different restaurant. The last minute, we decided on that cute place if I could remember where it was. Off we went. My friend kept saying I think we missed it. We didn't. We found it. Sitting on the corner in what looks to be the main intersection of this tiny town, it looks vintage, unique and welcoming. We were excited to check it out as we knew nothing about it. Walking in, there is a huge bar. Past the first room is the dining room. Varnished wood and casual simplicity were the backdrop to delicious home cooking. It had the look of being newly renovated without eliminating the history this restaurant surely holds. Our server was nice but not overly personable. My friend kept saying she felt sorry for her for some reason. We surmised she looked like she might have had an argument with her boyfriend or perhaps some other personal problems. We hope all is well with her. None the less, she was helpful and nice. We ended up ordering salads and a ton of sides. Everything was tasty. I will give it another try and return for a full meal the next time I am in the area. I would say, it is definitely worth the short drive from any of the tourist towns nearby if you are looking for quaint and off the beaten path. read more

What a huge disappointment! Our group received the worst service. We arrived at 4:50 for a 5 pm reservation. We were seated promptly but our dinner order wasnt taken until 6. We finally got our checks and left at 7:20. Getting a second round of drinks took an act of god. When a couple of people in our party complained about having to pay the gratuity we were told we would "absolutely" have to pay 20 percent. No apology or compassion for our frustration with the slow and inattentive service. Several people in our group are regular customers. I'm sure no one in this group will ever return and we made sure to share our story with others. Go elsewhere! read more

We set out for this restaurant putting the address in the navigator. Took us to what seemed like the middle of nowhere. There is nothing around this restaurant for seemed like miles. We were seated right away, staff was very friendly. The decor is very inviting and unique. We had appetizers, wife had calamari and said it was very good, I had French onion soup and it was amazing. Wife had the prime rib and loved it. I had the filet, it was listed on the menu at 10oz but seemed larger, it was amazing. Tender, and flavorful. Just one thing needed a bit more mushrooms .
