We came for Sunday brunch to celebrate our engagement, and it was such a special experience. They had a saxophone player and the staff was very accommodating and even let us decorate the table. They also gave us complimentary drinks to celebrate, so nice! The Bloody Mary was amazing. I ordered the huevos rancheros with chicken, and they were delicious with a sweet green salsa. The beignets were tasty as well, though I wish they had been served with a chocolate or warm dipping sauce. The only downside was that the service was a bit slow, and it took a while to receive our checks. Overall we had a great time and truly enjoyed the celebration. read more

We experienced and enjoyed a fine Valentine's dinner here just yesterday. We pulled up and ran into a line of cars for valet parking. However, the valet staff were organized and fast and got us taken care of in a few short minutes! I was impressed. It turns out there were two weddings as well as dinner guests and this valet staff was on it! Janessa greeted and seated us nicely and on time. Kaitlyn, our waitress, was gracious, knowledgeable and friendly. She really made the meal relaxed and special for us. Robin the manager checked on us and was very willing to help if needed. Our meal was well prepared, nicely presented and delicious. My lion's mane entree with romesco sauce was something I'd never had before and totally enjoyed! Went here last night . The food was very good . 6oz filet , Wagyu flat iron steak , Caesar salad , and a side of creamed spinach . The steaks came with a side of mashed potatoes and I ordered a side of bernaise . As I said the food was very good and the service very professional so why only three stars . There is something "off " about the vibe in the dining room . The restaurant is going for fine dining but that's not the impression the room presents . It comes off almost breakfast at a chain restaurant. Bright lights - no tablecloths - salad bowls that wobbled when trying to eat . The worst and most disturbing aspect is many times during our meal waiters from different sections of the hotel came through pushing big - noisy - serving carts - did I mention noisy ? The food presentation was very nice and again the service was very good ( we were the only table in the restaurant) but we won't be back . I ordered Jazz at four a scrambled egg breakfast with bacon and home fries while my husband enjoyed his brioche French toast an orange custard soaked, brioche with whipped cream. Table for 2 - Thursday, June 25, 2026, 6:00 p.m. Reservation #: 56974 Unfortunately, our recent experience at Hew Parlor & Chophouse did not live up to the excellent experience we enjoyed during our visit last year. I ordered the filet and specifically requested that it be cooked to a warm pink center. Because steak temperatures can be interpreted differently, I intentionally used that description to clearly communicate my preference. When my dinner arrived, the steak was medium rare with a cool red center. After waiting quite some time to get our server's attention, I explained that the steak was undercooked and asked that it be returned to the kitchen. When the entrée came back, the plate was extremely hot and the potatoes were nearly too hot to eat, yet the steak was still medium rare. I pointed this out to the server, who offered to return it to the kitchen again. By then, however, my dining companion had already finished her meal, so I requested a takeout box and decided to finish cooking the steak at home. What disappointed us most was not simply that the steak was undercooked twice, but the complete lack of management involvement. At no point did a manager visit our table to apologize or attempt to resolve the issue. The only adjustment to our bill was the removal of the Béarnaise sauce, which had separated after the entrée was reheated. We understand that mistakes happen. However, an exceptional restaurant distinguishes itself by how it responds when they do. Unfortunately, both the preparation of the meal and the service recovery fell far short of the standard we experienced during our previous visit. We had been looking forward to another outstanding dinner, but instead left disappointed. Regrettably, based on this experience, we do not plan to return. read more

We had Thanksgiving dinner here. $95 or $100, I can't remember which. It pains me to write this as I love this hotel. Dunedin needs this hotel. But gosh, It was so not worth it. There was no cranberry sauce, no dressing, no mashed potatoes, no gravy, no breast meat. They first served bread course of some sour dough with a smear of something that made it wet inside and "lingonberries" - okay, there was a little red on the white smear - I guess that was a lingonberry. For the dinner, they served underdone ratatouille(!), salty over cheesed brussels sprouts, some sweet potato mixed up mess, gluey wild rice, dried out (inedible on the ends) pork belly, short rib and turkey boulintine with corn meal mush inside. The desserts were .... not even full desserts. And the mess with the raw pie dough with a 1/18th smear of pumpkin, and the pecan pie on top, just nasty. Why ruin a tradition? Stick with what works. Seriously what is wrong with the palate in the kitchen? Where is the pepper and season? They've got salt down!! This restaurant has it all to be a star of Dunedin, but if the food is no good........Neighbors told me the last two dinners were bad and they wouldn't go back; I couldn't believe it. Service was good, whiskey selection didn't seem to as generous as it could be. This bar has almost no redeeming value from an ambiance perspective. It is basically a haulway (spelled that way on purpose). I stopped in for a relaxing evening whisky, but was subjected to a series of carts moving chairs and tables out of a ballroom, and lingering wedding guest loudly moving through. It was far from a quiet late night relaxing drink. Maybe my timing was off, but it is literally built along a hallway from the check in desk to a ballroom and a restaurant. Does not reflect the impression I got from the pictures. I hate to give 3 Stars when I haven't tasted any food, so ignore this if you are coming to eat. Wife brought me here for my birthday. Everything from ambiance, food and service was amazing. Dined her on a Friday evening around 5p and it was nice and quiet. So no complaints there. I had the New York steak and wife had the chicken francese. My steak was cooked to perfection (med-rare) and wife's chicken was creamy and tasteful. Jade was our server that evening and she went through the specials and offered her recommendations as well as accommodating my dietary needs, which made my choosing of what to eat that night easier. Jade also went above and beyond to make sure I had a birthday wish before my dinner was over and I opted to go with an old fashioned over dessert. I her and the team made it happen.(see photo) I currently work in the hospitality industry (for over 20 years) and know what it takes to provide excellent service as well as a leaving memorable experience and Jade accomplished that. Marriott/Hew Chophouse is grateful to have someone like Jade representing them and their brand. With all that said and having eaten at places like 801 chophouse, Shula's, Elway's, Shanahan's, Ruth's etc... We both got a tad overcooked steak (asked for Med Rare got Med) but the season was good. A plop of overworked mash potatoes accompanied the steak, underwhelming. Did we complain? NOPE!! Im not going to embarrass myself by complaining about food, especially on our 28 year Anniversary date. I would think a steakhouse would know how to cook a steak, not just one but both. oh well. The low light of the experience and the cause for there 3 stars is because of the bathroom. A woman was taking an extremely long time (I believe she didnt feel well) so I used the mens. It was very clean! However, once you flush the toilet sets of a TORRENTIAL FLUSH that lasts over 2.30 mins !!! A MASSIVE waste of water, in our state that is currently in a drought! Absolutely unnecessary amount of water. Here is a full 1.40 video of the flush--I didnt even start filming at the beginning, nor did I film until the end. Time it, Mr Manager, I guarantee it is 2 and half to 3 minutes long. EXTREMELY WASTEFUL and there is certainly no reason for it! Please fix it for the sake of conserving water! It's a bit loud in there - hard to have a conversation when you're sitting across the table from each other. We were in Clearwater Beach to celebrate my wife's birthday (a week early) and honestly this was a bit of a let down. Such a nice historic hotel and in a great neighborhood. I am hesitant to put up a review since I think this is still a local secret and I don't want to wait in long lines to eat in the future.... But I'm going to expose them since we enjoyed our brunch so much, it's only fair that everyone else also get a taste. Hew Chophouse is located inside the quaint Fenway Hotel in Dunedin overlooking the water, and not only are the views magnificent, but the food & service inside the hotel is also commendable. Parking is valet, if you come by golf cart you can just park on their lawn. It's kid friendly to eat at Hew, however I don't think they have a kids menu, correct me if I'm wrong. We had the crab Benedict, a rendition of All American breakfast & a specialty omelette. We also started with beignets which were delightful. All the dishes had a great taste profile, food tastes fresh and we enjoyed it thoroughly. The highlight was the service... Emily was soooo sweet, honest & knowledgeable. She made our visit pleasant & fun. I look forward to tasting more dishes. And I will have a review of the dinner menu on my next visit. read more

We had a very unfortunate experience with the manager ALEX!! 6 of us ordered cocktails with 3 appetizers. When we went to order food, our wonderful server "K2" (her nickname) informed us that there was no "Trinity of the Sea" or "Pheasant" available so 4 of us ordered the 6 oz filet with multiple side à la carte. She later informed us they were also out of the 6 oz filet (at a steakhouse??) but for $63 we could order the 8 oz instead. We asked for them to charge the $46 for the 6 oz price since this is the 3rd item on the menus on a Friday night that was unavailable. Alex the manager walks over to our table and tells us that we need to pay the $63 each or leave the facility. Needless to say, his poor attitude and crass personality was enough for us to pay our drink and appetizer bill and leave HEW PARLOW. WOWZA! Owners need to reconsider his position. I have already informed my morning Panera group of 8 what happened and hope they tell 1000 more. DON'T GO TO HEW. Look at the other reviews, Alex is a problem!!! Came here for Valentine's date. Great cozy restaurant in a nice boutique hotel. My one complaint was that it was difficult getting a reservation online or calling and I needed to email them. Luckily Chris Bouton was terrific and very responsive. I was able to get a reservation through him. Wait staff here was also excellent. Food was very good. Girlfriend loved the pheasant special. I was torn between a fish and the steak ultimately opting for a filet mignon. I saw another table get a Caesar salad and had to get it. They have these amazing ciabatta croutons that make it so amazing. I usually just make Caesar at home and refuse to order it since it's so cheap but it was worth it here. HEW is located on the first floor of the Fenway Hotel which is along Edgewater Dr. just south of downtown Dunedin. It is a beautifully restored 1920's era building. This is not a large restaurant so I would recommend reservations. For an appetizer, we opted for their Crab & Artichoke Dip. It came with a goodly amount of grilled garlic naan that was wonderful. I would definitely order this again. For entrées, we ordered two of their daily specials: the 'Chef's Cut' Prime Ribeye and a Duck Breast Special. For side dishes, we ordered the Roasted Brussel Sprouts and the French Onion Mac & Cheese. The Brussel sprouts were fine but the star was the mac & cheese. The Prime ribeye was cooked perfectly medium rare. It was one of the best steaks I've had in a very long time. It was tender and delicious. It came with an almond chimichurri sauce that was OK and not too overpowering. The duck special was wonderful, too. It came with a great sauce. It also came with what tasted like pesto gnocchi. For dessert, we both tried the Baked Alaska. It wasn't flamed table side. It had a core of orange sherbet and pound cake with a Limoncello meringue. It was OK but I would probably order something else on my next visit. Overall, we had an awesome time. The service was speedy and friendly. The venue was stunning. HEW was such a cute place with a welcoming vibe. We were seated quickly and there was live music. We started off with the Crab & Artichoke Dip. It was tasty but a little too watery. The bread served with it was nice and well done. For dinner we had the burger, Parmesan truffle fries and the Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was a must for me and honestly the least liked item. It's basically French onion soup with noodles that thickens a bit eventually. The burger was cooked to perfection, tender and delicious. The fries were really good as well and I'm not even a huge fan of truffle fries. I ordered an Irish coffee for dessert which was severed cold, black with only a shot of Jameson. Recently, had a group of 8 eat here for a Christmas celebration dinner. Hew changed our reservation from 6:30 pm to 7:20 pm to facilitate better service. We sat down and ordered our food at 7:30 pm, didn't get our dinners served until after 9:00 pm. I ordered the Venison special. Waiter couldn't tell me what kind of Venison (Elk, Red Deer, etc). i received 3 lukewarm warm pieces of venison that might have been a total of 6 oz. and a bowl of mashed potatoes. This entree was $90 freaking dollars, are you kidding me! House salad was another $14.00 plus service charge and my bill was $130. We were last group out at 10;30 pm. I have traveled extensively and this was by far the worst "fine diining" experience I've ever had. The only good thing was the Ice Cream bowl that we all shared at the end of the evening. Second, the meat which were mostly ordered as medium rare, were tough as leather! Some guests ordered the Wagu steak and this was 1/2 grizzle and lots of fat! The mash potatoes were good, the French onion soup some ordered, was not French onion, but creamed cauliflower? Some ordered the Mojo Criollo marinated Iberico steak and it was not beef but pork? All in all, the high prices being charged for these dinners are not worth it! It's almost like a bait and switch! Dinner took 1.5 hours to arrive, no one checking up on drinks, one in our party ordered a FIFTY-FIVE DOLLAR entree (fancy crispy duck with risotto) and was served a tiny, 3 oz piece of duck on COLD GUACAMOLE. The restaurant is in the Fenway Hotel, which is a phenomenal building just off the water in Dunedin. It has a famous rooftop bar which would seem to be the attraction because the restaurant was not even 1/3 full. I have not visited the bar but friends tell me it is an excellent place to sit, have drinks and watch the sunset. read more

We had reservations for the Thanksgiving dinner. I specifically asked and was promised booth seating in the restaurant. Instead we were put in a banquet room five adults at a table for ten. It was freezing cold and brightly lit. The waitress was uninterested after we didn't order alcohol. The lettuce was wilted and blah but it was the best thing about the meal. The food was all cold and the presentation was horrible. The sides came out in little old gray dishes plopped down on an old brown serving tray with NO serving utensils. The too large table made it difficult to pass anything and to carry on conversations. The pork belly was burnt and hard. All the main course items were cold. The "deserts" were equally bad. The bill came and our three and one year olds were charged even though when the reservation was made I explained they are on special diets and my daughter brought their meals. I was told no problem bring them we would not be charged . But we were charged! The leftovers, most the meal was boxed up and sent with us. I thought maybe it would be better warmed up.... No such luck! We threw it all out. It was a horrible, expensive lesson and we will not be back. I am a Marriott member and I could not have been more disappointed. The ambiance in that room at that huge table with the lighting and cold temperature was non existent. I would give zero stars if I could. read more
