Service was excellent. The quality of the food is a different story. My wife had the Ceasar salad and the leaf was so large it was difficult taking normal bites. I had the oysters and Key West shrimp with risotto. First off, the oysters are a complete joke. They were tiny with no meat, not prepared well by the kitchen and freshness was a problem with 1 of them. Regarding the shrimp dish, it lacked flavor and was super oily. This dish has potential and unfortunately was a huge disappointment given some freshness issue I had with one of the shrimps which tasted ammoniated. We had ordered a side of truffle fries which was over salted and borderline unedible. We sat outside which had amazing views which unfortunately was ruined by bugs and gnats that kept hitting me in the face constantly during the meal. This restaurant needs a lot more attention to detail and quality control before I would give it a 2nd chance. The only reason why this is not a 1 star review is because the service was excellent and the view was nice. The gnats are a serious problem and management needs better pest control. read more

Brunch review only: I enjoyed the brunch buffet at the hotel. I am not sure if it's all JWs but the two in Orlando offer an incredible spread. It could just be the nature of a "resort" v the regular hotel. Either way, you're going to find what you want. They did have an omelette station! They offered fresh juices, some fruits, some pastries, and in the hot bar (pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, eggs, oatmeal and grits). We dined in around 5 to 6pm when it wasn't busy. From the very start of dinner service was delayed. Even though we had a reservation and manager came out and apologize and said our table wouldn't be ready for a while and offered us a free drink each at the bar. So, about 20 to 25 minutes later we are finally seated and we see the restaurant is actually less than 50% full so it's perplexing that we had to wait. We had seating outdoors to watch the sunset. Now, hear me out, the hotel and restaurant location is beautiful. As a local, I never get tired of watching our sunsets, so I can see why anyone would want to come here, but that's where the greatness of the night ended. We were greeted and given water only for our orders to not be taken until almost 45 minutes later. When we ordered, it took an hour to get our food and by that time we are just sitting outside in the dark. There is almost no lighting outside after the sun has set. There was not many people eating in the restaurant by this time or even outside ( 4 tables outside and none of us had food). All of our food came out at the same time despite the fact that two of the tables had been there since 7 and the other two tables since 8 and it's now 9pm. Our waitress was looking really upset and frazzled explaining it was the kitchen and not her fault which I understand. It's a Tuesday though, so it's just confusing why the service is so slow other than what she is saying is issues with the kitchen. When we get our food it really is not great. It's sub par for the price and the wait. It is obvious a lot of it was sitting because it wasn't hot. It was really dissapointing because so many people had great reviews of this restaurant and I realized you know it was all influencers and I have no idea if they got their meals for free, but on social media they rely strongly on these posta that appear to be sponsored and everyone says they had an amazing time. Its my fault for not looking at real reviews, but all of us that night had the worst experience ever. We arrived at 6pm and didn't get checked out until 10pm and all of us had work the next day. I loved the hotel, but this restaurant was a huge diasapointment. The food was lacking flavor and we were eating in the dark. I had to ask for a table lamp and it barely provided any light. It was just not a good experience which was shocking because I eat at a lot of Marriot Bonvoy restaurants and usually everything is on point which is another reason why I disnt look up reviews. We had both dinner and breakfast at Latitude 28, as we did a 1-night staycation at the JW. We actually had drinks and appetizers at the lobby bar outside, which serves a few of Latitude 28's menu items on their happy hour menu, which is priced better than if you ordered them in the restaurant. The shrimp was a bit over cooked in the Shrimp Cocktail, but the sauce was very good. The calamari was a bit chewy in the Crispy Calamari & Shrimp, but still tasty. My husband and I both had the Coastal Selection and the Snapper and Grouper were both perfectly prepared. However, the risotto was underdone and crunchy, not creamy. The Chocolate Experience was decadent. Breakfast in the morning is a buffet with an egg station or you can order a la carte. We had the buffet and selections were ample. My favorite item was the chocolate croissants. Yum! Service was excellent for both dinner and breakfast. The restaurant is comfortable for both a long dinner as well as breakfast. This is not a place I would go out of my way to dine, but definitely worth a visit if you are staying at the JW or a hotel nearby. read more

Another amazing restaurant inside of JW Marriott. Great vibe with great food. They only had 2 servers on at peak time for a Friday night, so service was slow. Even under those conditions the wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Just very long wait time. Can't blame them for being short staff they did a great job for what they were working with. We had the beets with whipped feta, short ribs with blue cheese studded grits, wilted Swiss Chard and heirloom carrots. Of course we went with the chocolate experience for dessert. This place was really good. My husband and I went for a brunch. I had the Chia seed pudding and salmon bagel I do like that. They have the cream cheese on the side so I could control how much is on the bagel. They also had the option to sub the bagel for toast. My husband ordered the waffles and the shrimp and grits. He said that the waffles was really good and perfectly made but the shrimp and grits could use more seasoning and more kick to it and as I sampled it, it was more bland than I expected. read more

Latitude 28 was the perfect place to wrap up our trip to Clearwater Beach. Our server, Brandon, ensured we had the finest and most fun experience. As we were debating wines, he set up a blind taste test for us! The ambiance and view of the water in the evening was perfect - and the food even better! From top to bottom in the photo, we enjoyed the mint crusted lamb, roasted apples and sweet fig flat bread, and the branzino paired with two glasses of the Fattoria di Rodano (Chianti) from Tuscan Italy. As a side note, it is nice to see they have a DOC G wine on the menu :) My partner absolutely loved the lamb dish and enjoyed the mix of flavors and spice on the flat bread. For my first branzino, I don't know how I could find anything to top it in the future. The saffron risotto under it paired with the black garlic (which I absolutely love!) mixed so well with the fish. This place is definitely a five out of five. I went here for both breakfast and dinner and I had no complaints about either. The servers here are super kind and friendly! The host always try and sit you next to the window. It's a super nice so you could have a view of the beach. However, it's not the funnest watching people in bathing suits run around in front of the window as you're eating fine, dining, but the water is beautiful. I actually enjoyed the breakfast a lot more than the dinner. I don't know if it's because it was a buffet and I got an assortment of things. The omelette bar at the breakfast is super fun! Super flavorful as well. I'm not a huge fan on French toast, but I definitely went back for French toast about three times! The dinner is really nice, I recommend the truffle lobster That is a good choice. You will be spending about $40 per person for breakfast and about $40-$50 per person for dinner. read more

The only downside was the service, it took over 45 mins to get our appetizers, but for some reason the 2 tables that ordered the same appetizers next to us managed to get theirs in 10 mins after they arrived. They also arrived 10 mins after us and our order was already in. Over an hour and half later, we finally got our food, while again, tables that arrived after us were already being served their meals which were exactly the same as ours. Please keep in mind we ordered our food 10 mins after ordering our appetizers. We typically have good experiences at restaurants in Marriott, however this was a big miss. Great place if you like good food but not so good on service. We were not staying at the hotel but we were staying close by and we were excited to snag reservations since Yelp gave a thumbs up! The restaurant is situated inside of the JW Marriott with breathtaking views of the beach. It was way too hot to sit outside so we chose seating indoors right behind the guitarist who serenaded us with the smoothest songs. We sang along, enjoyed our drinks, and we were ready to order. Our waiter John was very nice and was knowledgeable about all things on the menu. Since I don't eat pork he was able to suggest non-pork options which I appreciated. We loved Latitude 28! Our server was so kind and made the experience, was even kind enough to bring us blankets when the AC was making it chilly. The inside is beautiful, with big windows that overlook the wonderful beach view. And of course, the food was delicious. A mix of creative and classic. For drinks, we got the White Linen cocktail and the Strawberry Spritz and Garden to Glass Mocktails. All wonderfully refreshing! For appetizers, the East Coast Oysters with an Orange-Blueberry Mignonette was a fun twist, the Jumbo Lump Crab toast had deliciously fresh crab and perfectly buttery brioche toast, and the Whipped Feta and Beets were light and tasty. For mains, we had the Costal Kale Salad with Grouper, the Yellow Tail Snapper "Costal Selection", the Florida Wildflower Honey Glazed Duck Breast, and the Truffle Mac and Cheese. We also got a side of Asparagus. Everything was great, especially the seafood which was clearly fresh. I'd also like to add that they do vegetables so well here, as our asparagus side was so well seasoned (as someone who doesn't usually like asparagus) and the Brussels sprouts that came with my Duck were doused in the Wildflower Honey, and it was to DIE for, they tasted like candy! For dessert, we had the Chef's Signature Dessert, which was not only citrusy and light, but also fun, with the liquid nitrogen magic you can see in the video. (P.S: we returned for breakfast the next morning and got the Parfait, Chia Seed Pudding w/ a side English Muffin, the Avocado Toast w/ Poached Egg, and some assortments from the Buffet. Latitude 28 was a wonderful dining experience for my wife and I's first wedding anniversary. After a bit of a rough start when checking into our hotel (different from the hotel this restaurant is in), this dining experience made our first night in Clearwater special and lifted our moods. The food is absolutely delicious, I don't think you could go wrong with any selection, just be prepared to spend a pretty penny if you want a complete meal with appetizers, a drink or two, and a dessert. We spent a little over 150 (including tip), but well worth it for the celebration. Highlights from the meal included the bread appetizer that comes out with a butter candle that is lit by a butane torch. Both fish dishes included beautifully cooked fish that was flavorful and just the right amount of flakiness. The modern key lime pie defied our expectations as far as desserts go and when we were finished nothing was left on the plate, so perfect. TL;DR + delicious selection for good food, dessert, and drinks (if that's your thing). + Great view - Be prepared to pay for valet, and set some money aside for a pricier meal. Terrible Stay - Got Food Poisoning + Noisy Wedding on My Floor I had high hopes for the JW Marriott, but my stay turned out to be a major disappointment. I checked in on 4/30 and ate lunch at the rooftop restaurant, and dinner at the ground-floor restaurant, Latitude 28. That night, around 2 a.m., I woke up violently ill with food poisoning. I spent hours sick in the bathroom, unable to sleep, and completely debilitated. I was in town to speak at a dental conference, but the next day I could barely function. The stomach pain and exhaustion lasted for nearly a week, ruining my trip and making it impossible to work. When I reported this to the hotel, they offered me a $100 credit which felt like a slap in the face after being sick and sidelined for days. If that wasn't enough, the final night of my stay was even worse. A wedding was hosted on my floor, and the noise was unbearable. Guests were yelling, slamming doors, and partying loudly late into the night. It was impossible to get any rest. This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I've had especially disappointing coming from a JW Marriott. I would absolutely not return. read more

What an amazing experience at a Mediterranean Restaurant called Latitude 28 in the JW Marriott with a unique take on menu items. We got the Smoked Burrata, Lobster Pappardelle, Bronzino & Key Lime Pie with a couple MockTails! Service by our waiter Brandon was impeccable! Constant check-ins and in depth knowledge of the menu and items he was serving. Rainy Sunday night on the Beach, so it was quiet, but filled up before we left at about 8:00. Acoustic Guitar playing at the bar outside the door of the restaurant was a nice touch as well. The bread service with croissants and a butter candle was as tasty as it was visually appealing, the octopus was cooked perfectly, and the scallop crudo had an interesting combination of flavors and textures. We came to Latitude for a nice dinner to celebrate a birthday as we were staying in the hotel. The experience was not great. Our group wished we would have picked a nice restaurant instead of Latitude. It took over 30 minutes for our drinks to come to the table. We ordered espresso martinis and a dirty martini and they were NOT anything special. We ordered dinner (including filet and lamb) and it came out COLD. If I am paying $20 for a drink and $50 for a filet, it should at least be good.... It is not too much to ask. This restaurant is for PURE convenience if you are staying in the hotel and don't want to leave. Just do not expect a timely, hot, delicious meal and drink. This was not even during busy season. Manager ended up comping two out of the five meals but it did not make up for a birthday dinner we were all looking forward to. read more

Just a horrible experience. Reservation at 8:15. arrived on time, seated... no food arrived for an hour and 40 minutes. Nothing.... we had water ever so skillfully poured for us by a waiter who didnt seem to notice the food was missing...for almost two hours. In the meantime, the manager ran back and forth alongside our table, kissing up to one particular table of patrons, pouring their wine, fawning over them, and zooming past our table...which was obviously devoid of food, without paying a minutes worth of attention to us and our MIA meals.... (let me mention, at this point , that the crowd was very sparse.) Finally an order of crispy brussel sprouts appeared. Burned but yet cold. The other two appetizers arrived piecemeal, coming out one by one, every ten minutes or so...one also cold. I returned the lobster mac to be reheated, and waited another 15 minutes for it to be returned. This time it arrived dry with 4 pieces of lobster hidden within. Finally the fish entree arrived, a 5 oz piece of overly crispy fish that was definitely not worth the time it took to cook it. It was almost a sin to kill it. I finally snagged the manager as he zoomed past us once again...his invisible patrons with their missing food. And then the apologies began, more fawning, apologies and giving of business cards. Promises that if we come back, all would be made right. Then a sheepish looking chef arrived with his pointless apologies, right out of Kitchen Nightmares...All of a sudden after almost 3 hours he seemed to care about our experience. The manager said he was comping the bill, then he said he was comping the apps, then when the bill $$$$ arrived and we actually looked at it...nothing had been comped. 15 more minutes waitIng for the manager to be located and comp our burned brussel sprouts and our cold mac and cheese. We watched as the restaurant closed up for the night. Thats how long we were there, waiting for the horrible food and enduring hideous service. Don't go there. Go to Seaguinis at Opal Sands. Or go anywhere else. Latitude needs a manager who can actually watch the service in a room, and a chef who can cook. Neither of which they have now. read more

I went later at night with a party of 5. We ordered drinks, and got settled. We later ordered appetizers (Bread, and Humus dip) which were pretty good. We ordered our entrees shortly after. We waited about 45 minutes to an hour for the entrees. When they came out, they didn't have our sides that we ordered, and weren't given to us until we have already finished our food. The food was great, but pricey. Our waiter Isabelle did a great job with a member of our party with an allergy. She told us what to avoid, and what to try. Overall, Latitude 28 is a good place for a good meal, whether it's brunch, lunch, or dinner. read more

I hesitate to leave this review because it's under Latitude 28 but I thought that is what we were going to experience. My family and I went to the JW Marriott in Clearwater Beach for Christmas Brunch earlier this week. When I booked the reservation my understanding is that we would be dining at Latitude 28, however upon arrival for our 11:30am reservation they placed us in a banquet/conference room on the 8th floor. Honestly I felt like I was at a business meeting or corporate training which was disappointing to say the least. I booked the reservation as I wanted a nice meal with some ambience from the beautiful restaurant with Christmas decor and views of the Gulf. I truthfully felt a little duped after being directed to the 8th floor, waiting in line and paying immediately before being seated and gaining a wrist band for all you can drink mimosas and Bloody Mary's. Being Christmas Day I didn't make a fuss about it because I wanted my family and I to enjoy the day. For $75 plus tax and gratuity we were able to dine at the buffet which was outside the banquet room and did have windows with natural light coming in. For another $24 plus tax and gratuity you were able to enjoy bottomless mimosas and Bloody Marys. The spread was good but not great compared to other brunch buffets I've been to (Oystercatchers). For what was offered I think either the pricing should've been lowered or the drinks included in the $75 fee. Having said all of that, the service that we did receive from the staff in the banquet room was excellent. They constantly checked on us to refill our coffee, waters, and remove dirty plates. The other pro was that our parking was validated with our meal which is $45 to valet. We had a nice experience but wouldn't return for the Christmas Brunch. I checked the information again on JW Clearwater Beach website and it does reference the name of the ballroom (in small print) but the pictures show a nice buffet with views of either the pool or beach (hard to tell). The menu shows Latitude 28 so that was an assumption on my partI. If the hotel could bring a little more attention to the location that may determine whether someone would book a reservation or not. read more

It's mediocre food honestly. We ate here multiple times during our stay at the JW because we had young kids and it just seemed easier plus there aren't many great options in a beach town. So if you factor in convenience and competition, it's probably 3 stars but spending $150-300 every meal for chain restaurant level food is disheartening. We spent $95 on breakfast (for two adults and a toddler) and my eggs were cut with water, for $95 I should've been given 2 scrambled eggs, no additives. I will say, the service is fantastic though. If you go into the experience knowing 1. The food won't be great and 2. The other options in town are worse...you'll be fine. read more

My wife and I were going to come here then decided against because of the reviews but got the restaurants mixed up and came here anyway lol Honestly, the food was really good and the ambience and view was nice. We got the smoked burratta (which was my favorite of everything), Greek salad, snapper, grouper, truffle fries, and Brussels sprouts. I wouldn't get the snapper again because the flavor profile wasn't my favorite but mostly bc there were some scales left on and bones which made it hard to eat, but everything else was really good. I don't even really like truffle fries but these were delicious. My biggest qualm with the place was the parking but that is more so on the hotel rather than the restaurant. You have to use valet and it was $32. The restaurant is off the main strip but down enough where it's really quiet. I enjoyed my evening. The hotel is beautiful but the menu is overpriced and offers very little. We ordered vegetarian appetizers and two drinks which cost us $100 a person. They need to at least have a pasta or something on the menu, and more in the way of appetizers. I was dining with a friend who is celiac and our server had told us the pita we had ordered was specially made gluten free by the chef etc, she proceeded to eat it and the server came running out of the kitchen telling us there was gluten in it after telling us this whole story prior. No manager came to apologize for the inconvenience and nothing was done. She suffered with stomach pain all night. Basically, I felt kinda ripped off for the following reasons: A) Menu listed Truly Hard Seltzer at $6. They charged me $9. B) They automatically added a 20% tip (not a significant problem). But then, on the credit card receipt where you normally add a tip and sign, it says "Gratuity", rather than "Additional Gratuity", the way a more honest restaurant does it. I didn't fall for it, but any one of us, especially after a couple of drinks, might accidentally add a second 20% tip. Haven't many of us almost done that? C) Finally, I was part of a large party and they refused to provide individual checks for each couple. Hey, I get it, it takes a little extra time to give each couple their own check. Restaurants can set whatever rules they want. Just don't expect bad service to result in customer satisfaction or good reviews. D) For the prices charged, it just didn't seem worth it. read more
