A party of 22?! That's not dinner ~ that's an event! I called ahead to make a reservation. The Event Staff were wonderful ~ taking our details and granting our request for a reservation. Our party included a rambunctious three-year-old and three other children; the youngest was 1 year old and the oldest was 89. We took the advice of the staff and pre-ordered the bruschetta appetizer to tide us over until entrees arrived. Waitstaff was fabulous!! Jonas saw and tended to every need, in addition to making each diner (including the children) feel like royalty. His patient professionalism subtly taught how things go in white-tablecloth restaurants. Some ordered sushi (and ate every scrap), some ordered the filet or the New York Strip, some ordered other specials (pistachio-crusted hogfish, grilled Red Snapper (SO GOOD!!), cedar plank salmon, Island Way-prepared snapper ~ all pronounced delicious! Children ordered grilled chicken and buttered noodles and ate every smidge. Food was served hot and promptly. We had backup games prepared but we really only had to bring out Round 1 of those! Kudos to Island Way and Jonas for our spectacular meal!! Notes: Children's menus were a hit, but we had to grab crayons from the car. Take some crayons if you have kiddies. Valet parking is complementary; tips are appreciated. We could have skipped the bruschetta. It was okay, but not spectacular. We were looking for a place where we could watch the sunset, so we were really excited to eat here. We had a reservation for 7:45 PM, but when we arrived it was raining, so they had to move everyone inside. We weren't seated until around 8:20 PM. The restaurant was extremely busy. They had a separate gluten-free menu which was nice. Once we were seated, it took a while for our waitress to come over, but we understood because of how crowded it was. Unfortunately, when she did come to the table, she seemed extremely rushed and it came across a little rude. I had several questions about gluten-free precautions, and every time I asked something she quickly said "yes" without really explaining. We ordered the Millionaire Bacon, oysters and the octopus as appetizers since both were listed on the gluten-free menu. I specifically explained that both needed to be prepared gluten-free. On the menu, it even notes in parentheses what needs to be removed to make certain dishes gluten-free. When the appetizers arrived, I noticed the octopus still had the red sauce that the menu said must be removed. I stopped our waitress as she rushed by, and she quickly said it was gluten-free and walked away. My husband had just put some in his plate when the server, who had brought the food out, came back and asked if we had eaten any yet because it had not been made gluten-free. He immediately took it back and returned with a gluten free one. When I mentioned it to our waitress, though, she kind of just shrugged it off. For dinner, I had the seafood bowl, and my daughter, who also eats gluten-free, had the salmon with potatoes au gratin. My son and his girlfriend got sushi, and my husband had the fish Clearwater style. Everything looked great when it came out, and I double-checked that my meal was gluten-free. The server confirmed it was. Overall, the food tasted really good. The only issue was my daughter's potatoes au gratin there was so much grease pooled on top that she ended up not eating it because they were basically inedible and her salmon was over cooked and had zero seasoning. Overall, our meal was good. The restaurant was packed, and we were disappointed that we missed the chance to sit outside and watch the sunset, but that was obviously due to the rain and not the restaurant's fault. read more

Very nice place for a celebration or a romantic dinner. Went there today for a friend's 80th birthday party, and it was great. They had affordable options as well as more expensive dishes. We ate from the Sunday special $25 options- steak tacos and shrimp scampi over linguini. The food was good, the scampi sauce was a little on the heavy side. My daughter loved the steak tacos. The service was OK, not much attention after the food was brought out. I had to ask for a drink refill and we had to ask for a bread refill. First time going there, and I would maybe go back and try their steak with shrimp dinner and mashed potatoes. The person in front of me ordered it, and it did in fact look very good. read more

I would have given a higher score but a few things that happened cause me to give a 3 star rating. I'm disabled at the moment and upon arriving all of the handicap spaces were taken with high end luxury vehicles. These were allowed to park there because of valet workers and when my stone crab was boxed up I was missing one and at $45 dollars a lb I was a little upset about that. We had a reservation at 3pm but because of heavy beach traffic we got there at 310pm. But two couples who arrived after us and also with 3pm were seated before us. So once the second couple was sat I inquired about it. That's when we were finally sat. Once we were sat things were going really great. This is our favorite restaurants in the Tampa area. It's on the water, causal attire, great food and worth our 1.5 drive. The food is also terrific m. So my wife and I eat like birds so we often split meals. We ordered a 22oz steak, lobster tail, scallops, shrimp with appetizers of crab claws and oysters. And for good measure a salad which was really good with hot bread "yum". The food is great and prices are in line, wait staff is great, but serving across the table and across another lap is inexcusable. This falls on management and I have known this since I was 14. Food should generally be served from the guest's left side using the server's left hand. However, if the food is pre-plated in the kitchen, it should be served from the right side. It shouldn't matter if one is eating in an upscale restaurant or not. read more

Whenever we first walked in, we were immediately impressed by the fresh decorative flower arrangements, the stunning bar, the wine cellar, the spotless cleanliness, the modern atmosphere, and the open kitchen. The steaks were displayed in a glass cooler where you could admire their beautiful marbling and freshness. They also had fresh oysters on ice along the kitchen and desserts beautifully displayed, which made everything feel upscale and inviting. We sat outside, where we were treated to a gorgeous view of the bay and the boats. As if that wasn't enough, we even got to watch dolphins swimming through the harbor! Our server was friendly, attentive, and clearly well-trained. She kindly replaced my Coke without hesitation after noticing it had come from the outside bar and was flat. All six of us ordered the $25 Early Bird Special, which included a salad, warm sourdough bread with herb-infused olive oil, an entrée, and dessert. I expected my house salad to be pretty standard, but it was anything but. It came with fresh radishes and an absolutely incredible house dressing that really stood out. For my entrée, I chose the meatloaf. It was incredibly moist, packed with flavor, and topped with crispy fried onions and a balsamic glaze that paired perfectly. The combination reminded me of Thanksgiving dinner at my grandmother's house in the best way. The mashed potatoes were clearly made from fresh potatoes, with a few rustic chunks left in and seasoned perfectly. We finished with the cannolis, and they were the perfect way to end the meal. The shells were crisp and fresh, while the filling was rich, smooth, and perfectly sweet without being overwhelming. They tasted homemade and were finished with just the right touch of powdered sugar and chocolate. Even though we were already full, we couldn't stop eating them. They were easily some of the best cannolis I've had and left us ending the meal on a high note. To top it all off, it started pouring rain while we were dining outside, and our server did everything she could to make sure we still had an excellent experience. I would absolutely come back for the $25 Early Bird Special--it's one of the best values I've found. Next time, though, I'm definitely ordering one of those beautifully marbled steaks! read more

There wasn't a single thing on the brunch buffet that I didn't like. The carving station was handing well cooked beef and pork roasts. The sushi station had vegetarian options. My daughter and I recently visited Island Way with my husband for his birthday. We were greeted promptly by the hostess crew and seated shortly after on the beautiful patio where many other diners were enjoying the gorgeous evening. Our server Cheyenne was prompt and greeted us quickly with a bright smile and cheery "Good evening!". After letting her know that we were "first timers" she graciously went over some menu highlights and offered suggestions when we couldn't decide. We took her suggestions and our cocktails were expertly prepared and our meals were absolutely delicious! The kitchen was definitely busy but seemed to be running smoothly as our courses were delivered in a normal amount of time and expertly prepared. Cheyenne was the perfect amount of attentive to our needs throughout the meal and kept our table tidy. When it came time for dessert she filled us in on options that all sounded amazing but we passed as we had cake at home. Will we be back? Absolutely! Will we request Cheyenne as our server?
