Our second visit here. The first time in July our server was fantastic. Very friendly and attentive. Don't remember her name. This time the service was subpar. The place was less than half full, so no reason for it. The two waitresses were disinterested and not personable, . Our server A was not friendly or attentive and seemed ready to get us out of there despite the fact that we wanted more drinks. She wasn't horrible but not good either. Food and drinks great tonight....The service was great too....the only issue was a miscommunication by the waitress for $2 off cocktails. It was only certain cocktails apparently which she really didn't seem to have known before waiting on us. I've seen and spoken to one of the managers (who was not in charge tonight), and he has always been awesome. Tonight was a hot mess. It took almost 20 minutes to finally get the correct bill sorted out when the misinformation wasn't our fault. The waitress (who was so sweet) seemed flustered as did the manager on duty when I spoke with him. The place is always spotless with creative drinks and food. I just hate that I left tonight after a long, stressful day hoping to unwind and relax with a couple of great cocktails to need to find another drink asap as soon as I returned home from dinner at Heyday. All that over $4 (I had two drinks loll)...really? It's been ages since I've experienced as stressful of a night trying to eat out. I think it will be a good while before I return to Heyday. Wanting to try something new which had good reviews we opted for Heyday in Celina. We agreed to meet up with friends around 6pm on a Friday night so we anticipated a wait. To our surprise when we walked in the bar area was packed and there were a couple of tables already occupied. But the hostess asked if we made a reservation to which I said there was no option on their website. A waiter who was standing near by simply said, well you should have called. Anyhow, the hostess said they could accommodate us and showed us to our table. Once seated, by the way the chairs are very comfortable, we got the drinks menu handed to us but the food menu was only available via the QR code. A wealth of cocktails mostly gin or whiskey based, but we found a couple Lo Siento and Straight from the horses mouth. Both very tasty and the night looked promising. Once our friends joined us and had their drinks we ordered an appetizer, calamari, and our mains. I ordered the steak frites with chimichurrie and my wife the shrimp tacos. All of a sudden the waiter walked by and almost threw our appetizers on to our tables and didn't even say a word. How odd.... And suddenly the music was bumped up to a level I could hardly hear myself think, let alone talk to my friends. So we kindly asked the waiter to lower the music which he eventually took care of (10 mins later) As I was about to take a second bite of what was a tasty appetizer our mains were being served. The excuse was that the kitchen was gearing up for a busy evening and large orders... honestly I don't care. I don't want my mains and appetizer at the same time. Shortly after I asked for additional chimichurrie sauce as what I got on my steak was a small teaspoon worth (and that for $33!!!). As I slowed my eating down waiting for the sauce, my friends were finished and plates cleared and the same waiter who took the order for sauce had the audacity to ask if I was still working on my meal. Seeing he was holding what looked like the bill in his hand just proved that they were trying to rush us out of there. Not sure why as there were empty tables.... So we got the hint and passed on dessert. Similar to our appetizers the bill was thrown onto our table. To my surprise there was an additional $0.50 charge for the chimichurrie sauce I never got. For $33 a plate which was on the smaller side, this additional charge to me is excessive. The drinks were good. The food is very tasty even though the portions are small. The service really needs to improve and be more personable. And if you expect us to be done by a certain amount of time, let me know in advance and don't put the pressure on the waiter. read more

This place is an outstanding addition to the Celina square. In a nutshell: awesome vibes in a cool setting with professional staff, great food, and delicious cocktails. Starting with the interior, the place itself has a really cool ambiance and has the look of a bar you'd find down in Bishop Arts or Deep Ellum. Definitely the type of place that makes me want to hang out for hours. The service was outstanding. They are really busy in the evenings and only have a few tables, but the staff are always hustling. Make a reservation online if you can. Wilborn was behind the bar, and this guy is an absolute craftsman that slings amazingly well thought out concoctions. We tried a bunch of different things, and literally all the cocktails were great. The food was surprisingly great at a very fair price point. The fried tomatillos were a solid app, the Cuban sandwich was solid, and the bacon fernet burger was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. This place is a hidden gem in downtown Celina. It has a very unique and charming vibe. They have good options for food, including a couple of vegetarian. They have pasta, salads, sandwiches, and tacos. The alcoholic beverages are another level they have a one of the kind cocktail menu that it's pretty impressive including all the classics rum, tequila, bourbon, vodka, etc, prices ranging from $12-$18. Service was above and beyond, Meghan and Mark were extremely knowledgeable and spot on with their recommendations, our drinks were never emptied . They have seating at the bar, and high and low tables. It's good for parties between 1-4, maybe a bit larger as well. We stopped in for an early dinner before a movie, so the place wasn't crowded at all. Our server was very pleasant & accommodating. The atmosphere was nice, I can't atest to the noise level since there were only a few people there. We started with the deviled egg "cupcakes" because they looked so difficult. (They were, well, deviled eggs. But who doesn't love deviled eggs?) Hubs had the Cuban sandwich, he said it was good. I had the grilled cheese, it was tasty and HUGE. The homemade chips were excellent. I've heard a lot about the carrot cake, but we didn't have time to try it. We will definitely be back & that's on my list. read more

The newness is really showing. No avenue on their site to book a reservation so we just got a sitter and headed up there, knowing we'd likely wait a while. Once parked we called before we walked in and they said they were at about a 45 minute wait. So we went in and were told it would be an hour at the stand. We said ok and put in our name and went to shop and have a late coffee. We went back around an hour later and sat in the chairs at the front. About 5-10 minutes after our hour had passed we went to check on the wait... and were told there were 7 tables ahead of us still. We pulled our name and left. They really need to clearly cite the availability of reservations AND learn their turnover times. Giving different times 60 seconds apart, telling people an hour when you mean two, etc. just really makes for a poor experience. Good parts are a nice ambiance, interesting looking menu, and one nice server checked in about getting us a drink about 5 minutes before we left. read more

Great ambiance dark woods and cool. Good for conversations. Not really a spot for the kids. Food choices were a little adventurous but the burger looked great too. Lots of drink choices and even though some of the beers weren't available the server did a great job of giving multiple options. This is my 3rd time being there. They're new, so some grace has to be given. They just really need consistency in service/food, and expand a couple basic options. As a former restaurant manager I've seen good and bad. TL:DR: Would I recommend? Yes. Would I be cognizant of when I go and what I order? Very much. Food - 3 Stars Drinks - 5 Stars Service - 4 Stars -1st Time Early Dinner- 1/3 full. We were sat relatively quickly and then waited quite a bit before service and the server changed. After that service was friendly and on point with what was ordered, but hit or miss timing. We ordered Mac & Cheese, their version of Deviled Eggs, Sea Bass, and Calabrese Pasta. Had a number of drinks, but Mr. Feel good and Strawberry Fields stood out. The Deviled Eggs suck frankly. They're served cold, the egg base is preformed and stored cold, so it comes out wet and cold which is gross. The toppings are okay, but can't overcome a wet cold egg. The Mac & Cheese is good; we've ordered or attempted to every time since (more on that later). The Sea Bass was really good. It needed more succotash and maybe some broccolini. The Calabrese Pasta was good. It wasn't there next time, so the menu changes. The Strawberry Fields is the best sweet drink thus far; it's like a soft, sweet, fresh strawberry with alcohol. Dr. Feelgood is a nice twist on an Old Fashioned. Had regular and Oreo cheesecakes; just okay cheesecake. -2nd Time Lunch- Seating took forever and then we were just told to seat ourselves. They were 1/2 full. We had Calamari with both sauces (Wasabi & Chili Butter), and Mac & Cheese. Calamari is good, Wasabi sauce is super hot; the Butter was preferred. Mac & Cheese was good as always. Rigatoni Lemon Ricotta w/added Salmon. The downside is the noodle as the same as in the Mac & Cheese, but overall my fellow diner loved it. I had Chimichurri Steak Quesadillas. The quesadilla was limp, and undercooked, not crispy. The chimichurri was not in with the steak, but a swipe of sauce on the plate; not enough, and not being on the steak meant the steak was bland as anything without sauce on it which ran out before done. The other item with it was forgettable. Would not order again. More of the same drinks (Dr. Feelgood & Strawberry Fields); on point. Tried to get a Coke Zero; flat and over syruped. Service was friendly but same timing and attention issues as last time. It did get 2/3 full by the time we left. -Third Time (Today; 06/10/24) Lunch- Seated immediately. Empty. Calamari and Bruschetta to start. Calamari was good but only came with one sauce this time. Bruschetta was good, olive based vs. tomato, but was overdosed with balsamic glaze, making it overly sweet. Some is good; multiple hits on one makes it overly sweet. Partner had same pasta & Salmon as last time; they liked it. Guest had Chicken Beurre Blanc of some form. They liked it. I attempted to order Mac & Cheese. They were out. I order a burger that's supposed to come with fries. They were out of fries. I asked for a medium rare burger; it came well done. They subbed house made chips for the fries; 1/2 were raw, 1/4 were barely done so they stuck together, and last 1/4 were good when dipped in ketchup. Same drinks again; still good. Service was on point and timely. Primary Issues: They stand at the end of the bar and chat too much and not focus. Stand in the back if you're gonna chat. They don't have sparkling water except from the bar tap, which tastes awful. They need to fix their soda taps; the vendor can do this for them. They're just way off. They need more sides, especially of vegetables. Broccolini, that succotash they make, beans, etc. They also need some of their other items like bacon, etc. as sides. They also need a bread & oil or something appetizer (it can be charged). The door to the restroom hall swings wildly open; the swing bar needs to be adjusted. They take too long to set tables. Positives: The drinks are all on point if you can find one that fits you well. The Mac & Cheese is good. The calamari is good. They do their pasta & fish dishes really well. The staff are friendly, if not on the ball. It's trendy, semi-upscale, and yet feels relaxed. Nice vibe. They have TVs for those who care. They have booths (table only restaurants lose my business generally). They have a dynamic menu; can also be bad, but means they're willing to stretch their legs, vs. let success make them lazy and slowly decline. read more

Absolutely loved this place! I went with a friend for a girl's night to check it out. We got a drink while we waited for a table, but ended up finding a spot at the bar. The drinks were all made with fresh ingredients and were so delicious! We ordered the calamari, fried tomatillos, salmon, and ribeye tacos. The food was literally all incredible. But the best part was the atmosphere. Perfect for a date night or time with friends. I just love that Celina has somewhere like this that's open late! We will definitely be back! read more

Today was the second time at heyday. First time was not bad but today was great. I had the pork chop and my wife had a burger. As an appetizer we had the deviled egg cupcakes which were really good. The chef came out and said the pork chop was not to their standards and they were making a new one which I really like. Most places will serve it in the hope it will not come back. The pork chop was delicious. Please try it. It was on the bone. Great taste with pineapple on the side. The potatoes were really yummy as well. We don't drink but just people order a drink as well and they looked nice and well made. Go try this place out in Celina. You will not be disappointed. They have several tvs on as well if you like to see sports or anything. Otherwise just enjoy each other with a nice meal in this cozy little place. read more

Wish I could give it more than 5 stars!! First off, Mark and Will at the bar are awesome (the entire staff is great)! Between their incredible personalities and amazing drinks- that right there was enough to make us want to return! Second, the extensive and very creative drink menu, along with so many original dishes, were such a welcome sight. Lastly, everything we had - from drinks to food - were SOOOO delicious. The drinks were flavorful, smooth and balanced (had Dr. Feelgood, Tropic Like Its Hot and Strawberry Fields Forever.) The food had quality ingredients and were full of flavor and really good portion sizes (Truffle Zoodles, Brie and Apple Grilled Cheese and bacon Fernet and Cheddar Burger). We are so excited to have a place like this so close by and will definitely be regulars here (especially since our goal is to eventually try everything on the cocktail and food menu)! read more

My husband and I had a lovely lunch at Heyday earlier in the week and were excited to return with our family on Friday night. Unfortunately, the experience was a major disappointment. We ordered the same pork chop we had enjoyed just two days earlier, but this time it was half the size, and the portion of potatoes was so small it was barely visible on the plate.
