I ordered a "Steak Stromboli", but received a "Cheesesteak Calzone". I didn't realize this until later when I got curious about the difference between the two and looked it up online. The calzone was tasty after I got through the first few bites of just dough and got to the filling, but be warned it will literally come with only steak and cheese inside if you don't ask for any other fillings. After a few bites it loses appeal due to the lack of variety in flavor. There is definitely a lot of potential with this place but don't expect any hand holding when you order, they will likely assume you're an experienced customer. I ordered Brooklyn pizza yesterday the first ingredient on the list is EVOO and that seems to be completely missing it was very dry. Also looks like running out of stuff as hardly any basil. I would say not at all worth the price they charge. read more

It only took over a decade, but finally, an awesome pizza place in Chesterbrook! I love their veggie pizzas. The ingredients awesome are fresh and the dough is made just right. The people there are very friendly and accommodating. One negative is that they do tend to get forgetful about side items like sauces. I usually have to remind them, so make sure you check if you are getting take out or delivery. Still, this is hands down the best pizza place within 5, maybe even 10 mile radius. read more

After much searching for some pizza in the King of Prussia area my wife and daughter decided HG was the place. What a disappointing mistake! We ordered two calzones and a margarita pizza. Not sure what the coal fired is actually supposed to be but don't expect NYC coal fired pizza. While all the components of a margarita pizza were present nothing about it was good to say the least. Dough had no flavor, sauce was to sweet, the fresh mozzarella was probably the best thing on this pizza. But more importantly the pizza was not cooked like a coal fired pizza. A soggy bottom crust that flops over is not my experience with coal fired pizza. Calzones a simple plain cheese and the second being a cheese and pepperoni had a nice eye appeal. Then you cut them open to experience a lava flow of greasy moisture that totally saturated the box. Seriously the calzone was three quarters full of pepperoni that was overwhelming. I normally eat at Tacconellis in Philly when I'm traveling into town but their limited number of pies makes it hard to get in. I won't make that mistake again. read more

The crust was good and crisp but the pizza had no flavor to it at all. The staff was great and friendly. HG Coal Fired Pizza is good pizza but nothing special. When I'm in the area, I would come here. I wouldn't go out of the way to order from them. Definitely eat in rather than deliver. It tastes much better in my opinion and the pizza gets less soggy from the grease. I would recommend the BBQ pizza, any Stromboli, and the tiramisu. Margarita is just okay. The chocolate mousse cake doesn't have that much flavor. In terms of service and cleanliness, this establishment surpasses satisfaction. All in all, if you're in the Chesterbrook area give HG a try. Love this place! Literally order the coal fired margherita at least once a week. Had them cater our Christmas party and the pastas, chicken parm and chicken Marsala were all delicious, even after we had them out a while. Would definitely recommend! FINALLY! I have lived in Wayne/Chesterbrook area for 25 yrs and ever since Jerry & Sal from original Pizza Land Brick oven in CB road off into the sunset about 10 or so yrs ago...we have been in search! Had high hopes for this place in the new revamped and improved CB...tried for first time tonight...and...HOME RUN!! Pizza was excellent (had the Half Moon Bay) great crust and awesome topping - taste, distribution, quality and quantity. They literally just opened and can only imagine it will get even better as they get the feel of the coal fired oven and crowd flow. It was equal or better than Anthony's in Wayne...a tad less "well done well done". We ordered on the touch screen as we entered (think Wawa)...you can even pay with debit/credit right at screen or at register...and order was ready in a very very reasonable 15 - 20 minutes to spite a decent in house crowd and phone ringing for takeout. No liquor license yet but expected by mid June...till then BYOB. Owner was a super nice guy! A little nervous as a new business proprietor but as long as he keeps cranking out a quality pizza like I just ate he has nothing to worry about. Also had a very tasty and fresh arugula salad...I am psyched as I think my pizza Friday prayers may have finally been answered! HG basically has good food, their hoagies could be better. The rolls are chewy, there is very little meat on them. I specifically asked for horseradish sauce. When I picked up the hoagie, I specifically asked if it was added only to find they did not add the horseradish. read more

Picked up 2 pasta dinners last night, a little after 8pm, eggplant parm and chicken parm. Eggplant was very good but the chicken was composed of thin slices of over cooked dry chicken heaped together covered with cheese and sauce.It was as though this was the leftover chicken from the day and was acceptable to offer this. In case someone needs to know the dish is prepared with Whole chicken cutlets, not pieces of what appeared to be leftovers. read more

I've been here a few times already because it's in the neighborhood and very convenient. So far, I've ordered the pepperoni stromboli (twice), the chef salad, coal fired pizza and two hoagies (tuna and italian). The stromboli was delicious and that's why I went back and got it again. The chef salad was very generous and more than enough for two people. The coal fired pizza was just OK. Next time, I'm going to get the traditional pizza. The only bad thing I'll say is that the hoagies are not that great. The bread doesn't taste that fresh and there's not much too it. Tuna hoagie was very disappointing. There's other things on the menu which I plan to try (e.g. wings, cheesesteak, some of their dinners). Service is very quick, plenty of parking and I'm very happy they moved into Chesterbrook. read more

Pluses: very easy to order online. Pizza was ready when I arrived to pick up. Fairly large and extensive menu. We had a BBQ pizza and a Margarita with Soppresetta on half. Both very tasty. Minuses: the crust was chewy which really ruined our enjoyment of what was on top. We ended up not eating the ends of the crust because it was too hard to chew and not very appealing. I heard a similar complaint from a friend. Not sure we'd try again given the price - ~$35 for two large pizzas read more

While the food might be good, there is a increased tendency for errors despite having a ridiculous number of staff working. On top of that we have experienced multiple instances of overcharging. I used to have my admin order for corporate work lunches as well as for holiday lunches between HG and Diane's. We would often do dinners takeout as well for family meals. Lots of attitude by staff when asked about overcharges. While my family meal take out impact will not be significant to HG, it's unfortunate that they will lose a significant corporate delivery order stream through the years. We have officially moved on from ordering at HG and will support other locals. The folks placing order at the counter will overcharge without disclosing, keep a close eye on the charges. I am one to over extend trust on pricing and often don't ask for bill a d simply pay but not after blatant over charges time after time. read more

It took a while but HG is finally opened. We had their coal fired pizza (oven is very hot and bakes quickly) and it was delicious. We are definitely coming back. Good luck to these guys. read more
