I enjoy supporting small business and of course local business too. Hi Cravings go all over the island and give themselves a day off on Sunday/Monday. It's nothing like eating a bowl of fresh fruits with a choice of your açaí, or sorbet. I'm not a fan of açaí, so I normally choose a sorbet. Each bowl comes with granola & honey, fresh pineapple, watermelon, strawberry, banana and grapes. You can pay an additional price for any add-ons, and the list is on the menu board. The line was super long. The service was super slow. My bowl didn't have any grapes. A little disappointed to say you pay 8.00 for a small bowl and the fruits are fresh but they are either tarty, no taste, or just plain hard and crunchy. I think my fruit bowls may taste better if I find myself some sorbet.

I got to try this Açaí bowl at a BMW event. I ordered a small açaí bowl which comes with pineapple, strawberries, bananas, watermelon, granola, and honey. It was very refreshing, the fruit was fresh, and the size was decent. They have add-ons that you can get such as cookie dough, blueberries, or mochi. The staff are friendly and I didn't have to wait long to get my açaí bowl. It was very good!

When you want something refreshing head over to Alaloa St. behind Sears Windward Mall and look for their mobile truck. Lots of parking in the mall parking lot. Each day they offer different blends- my favorites are coconut, lychee, mango, guava, and of course they have açaí. Each bowl comes topped with lots of fruit and granola. You can add on special items like almonds, coconut, mochi balls, speciality fruits (blueberry, clementines, etc), and what they are known for- cookie dough! I see people ordering multiple side orders of the cookie dough. They take cash or card. Friendly staff. Bowls are made to order so when they get busy you should expect a wait. So worth it and very addicting!

This is my first review of 2026!…read more Tonight I enjoyed the sticky rice with chicken anticucho and it is my favorite meal of 2026 so far. The chicken thighs were beautifully seasoned and slightly charred. The meat was cooked all the way through yet still juicy with bone in thigh. The purple sticky rice was perfectly done and I love the texture of sticky rice in general. The plate also came with sliced cucumbers and pickled mustard greens (reminiscent of Vietnamese pickled mustard greens - but in a much more vibrant green color). My favorite part of the meal was the tart and aromatic sauce that came in the meal. If you're not a fan of lime juice and fish sauce, you may want to use sparingly. However, I was thoroughly enjoying the sauce and when accompanied with a bit of the mustard greens, it toned down the sour aspect of the flavor profile. Overall, so delicious and I would love to find them again and enjoy more of their menu items!

Khao and Papas is one of those…read moreitinerant food trucks with a constantly changing dynamic schedule, popping up in another place almost daily. Using Yelp's Mobile Food Trucks search will identify them but you need to use another app to actually find out where they are. I ran across them on a weekend in my neighborhood and stopped by. The food is a fusion of Peruvian and Laotian by husband-wife team, Juan Ching and Kim Thepsenavong. There is a long history of Japanese cuisine fusing with Peruvian - it's called Nikkei. But other Asian cuisines, especially Southeast Asian, also blend seamlessly with Peruvian staples. Think about the heavy use of pepper and spice in Laotian cuisine. You've been in restaurants where the heat scale is hot, Thai hot, and Laotian hot. Peppers were only introduced into Southeast Asia in the 16th century. Peru is one of the recognized birthplaces of peppers, with over 300 varieties and a 7,500 year history of cultivation. Peruvian Laotian fusion works when you do it right. I had a beef anticuchos skewers plate with Laotian accompaniments. The anticuchos had a nice smokey sweet dark color from aji panca paste. The rice was Laotian, with black and white grains of sticky rice. There was pickled Laotian som pak, a vinegar marinated mustard cabbage. A fine blended salsa-like jeow mak len, full of charred tomato smokiness, savory paedek fish sauce, garlic, shallot, bird's eye chiles, and lime, was terrific on top of the marinated beef. I hope I run into Khao and Papas again one day so I can try their grilled chicken. Until then, I have the memory of a fine take-out plate of Peruvian Laotian fusion comfort food.

Short drive from Kailua was easy Food was amazing and can't wait to go back. My dinner partner isn't a pasta fan but loved it too. I got the Ulu garlic butter sauce with mushroom and chicken. It lasted me two meals!! The other was ube pasta with garlic butter sauce with brisket. So delicious. Service was simple. This is one of the most surprising food establishments I've ever been to…read more Why because it's about 40 minutes away in a rural area in Hawaii, in a strip mall and there's nothing else there in that strip mall that is of value. Then this establishment has no places to eat no dining tables no chairs it's just takeout only. Another thing that is very surprising. Is that when you order it takes about an hour to get your food and I find it surprising because people line up to order it and then they just wait outside in their cars or leave and come back or try to call it in and then wait longer and it's just one of those things where I can't believe how popular it is and how long it takes to get a meal and people are completely willing to drive out of their way and wait. Another surprising aspect is the price point. You are paying dine in restaurant semi mid upper level prices for items put in a takeout box. The only saving grace is that the food does taste good and it is a large portion size - so when you're leaving, you're literally carrying several pounds worth of food that could feed a whole family. I purchased three plates and the total was over $80. I called to order it in advance and it took 75 minutes until it was ready. Sorry I don't think this is 5-star value or should be noted as one of the best places to eat.

Thinking that there must be Good Grindz there, I made a U-turn and parked behind the truck. YumYum TumTum is usually in Waimanalo (by Bellows), but on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, they're across from The Plaza at Kaneohe. Service is excellent. The two workers in the truck are very personable with the "aunties and uncles". They inform each customer about the ten to twelve minute wait-time since each order is made fresh! Because the Pancit was sold out (and the banana lumpia), I ordered the Garlic Rib Eye Steak... whoa... Da buggah was Beeg!!! I couldn't finish it! Made with the "secret special rub", the Garlic chips and onions were Broke da Mouth! The meat was tender and juicy! I enjoyed the koge edges of charred fat! Mmm! I should have ordered the BBQ chicken skewers, too... and the halohalo... welll... I'll just have to return... And go earlier before the Pancit runs out!!!
