Pastele stew with rice and side Mac salad $13

We both ordered the pastele stew. Mine was a mini and hubby had the add on of mac salad. It was tasty, but we both agreed that it was too salty. There was a huge helping of rice, but not enough stew. We only waited a few minutes in the line and then a couple more minutes for the order.

If your looking for gandule rice and pastele do not pass this place up. Food is great.

Happy Rico at Bellows. Saturday and Sunday.

To call the food at Happy Rico "good" is to offend the English language. To call it "Amazing" is to lack the appreciation for the incredible. Spectacularly Good food is what you will find at Happy Rico. Shrimp tacos with toppings that perfectly blend to make a mouth watering delight not normally found in a food truck. Pork Pastele Stew tacos that will make you wonder why you didn't order more! The Crunch Wrap that looks so simple, even humble, when you first see it, that you are guaranteed to be surprised at how incredibly good it is. And then... when you don't think they can raise the bar any more, you try their fried pork pies. Better than my mom's, and that's all I can say, cuz my mom's polish meat pies were beyond comfort food. If you like good food... and want to redefine what that is, stop by and tell Rich and Loretta that Matt said "hi"... and then order anything on the menu. You'll be thanking me.

HEY OAHU ?!?!? You guys ARE SLEEPING on Happy Rico Truck!!!!. Its run by a couple serving up Puerto Rican Fusion food. There is a big community of Puerto Ricans or "Borinkis" as locals would say, living in Hawaii. I always like to drive down Kahekili Highway to hunt down street vendors, and this is how we found Happy Rico! Perusing the menu, we were sold on their Surf and Turf Plate-Pastele Stew, Gandule Rice, Mac Salad, and Pickled Shrimp Ceviche with Air Fried Saltine Crackers. Of course, we added a couple of Borinki Pasteles to our order. We LOVED everything on the Surf and Turf Plate, however, the pasteles have a super soft texture than we're used to, but taste was good. These are the types of small businesses I will continue to support, and I hope to feast on some Happy Rico on my next visit home. ALOHA!!! SHAKA METER: \uuu/ \uuu/ \uuu/ \uuu/ \uuu/ 5

    Pastele lumpia ... ONO!!!

My sister and her husband was in the area and thought it would be a great idea to try Happy Rico. They had already got some food to bring over for dinner and saw a line forming at Rico's. Well, "Fomo" set in and they joined the line. What a find! They ordered some Pastele lumpia (see pic) WOW, not at all greasy w/crisp exterior. I'm hooked, especially with that creamy sauce. Call and order in advance (if can) See you in line folks! - Take care

The good was good. I wasn't a fan of the Mac salad but the stew was so ono. The rice was great! The guy who helped us was super nice and was very helpful with what was sold out and what he recommends. We payed via Venmo which was convenient. Make sure to check the Instagram for the up to date hours though.

Back again to try out others items on their menu. I wanted something fried and this is what I got. Honestly I forgot what it was called lol but it was really good. There was a grilled cheese on the top of it, definitely getting it again

This is my first review of 2026!…read more Tonight I enjoyed the sticky rice with chicken anticucho and it is my favorite meal of 2026 so far. The chicken thighs were beautifully seasoned and slightly charred. The meat was cooked all the way through yet still juicy with bone in thigh. The purple sticky rice was perfectly done and I love the texture of sticky rice in general. The plate also came with sliced cucumbers and pickled mustard greens (reminiscent of Vietnamese pickled mustard greens - but in a much more vibrant green color). My favorite part of the meal was the tart and aromatic sauce that came in the meal. If you're not a fan of lime juice and fish sauce, you may want to use sparingly. However, I was thoroughly enjoying the sauce and when accompanied with a bit of the mustard greens, it toned down the sour aspect of the flavor profile. Overall, so delicious and I would love to find them again and enjoy more of their menu items!

Khao and Papas is one of those…read moreitinerant food trucks with a constantly changing dynamic schedule, popping up in another place almost daily. Using Yelp's Mobile Food Trucks search will identify them but you need to use another app to actually find out where they are. I ran across them on a weekend in my neighborhood and stopped by. The food is a fusion of Peruvian and Laotian by husband-wife team, Juan Ching and Kim Thepsenavong. There is a long history of Japanese cuisine fusing with Peruvian - it's called Nikkei. But other Asian cuisines, especially Southeast Asian, also blend seamlessly with Peruvian staples. Think about the heavy use of pepper and spice in Laotian cuisine. You've been in restaurants where the heat scale is hot, Thai hot, and Laotian hot. Peppers were only introduced into Southeast Asia in the 16th century. Peru is one of the recognized birthplaces of peppers, with over 300 varieties and a 7,500 year history of cultivation. Peruvian Laotian fusion works when you do it right. I had a beef anticuchos skewers plate with Laotian accompaniments. The anticuchos had a nice smokey sweet dark color from aji panca paste. The rice was Laotian, with black and white grains of sticky rice. There was pickled Laotian som pak, a vinegar marinated mustard cabbage. A fine blended salsa-like jeow mak len, full of charred tomato smokiness, savory paedek fish sauce, garlic, shallot, bird's eye chiles, and lime, was terrific on top of the marinated beef. I hope I run into Khao and Papas again one day so I can try their grilled chicken. Until then, I have the memory of a fine take-out plate of Peruvian Laotian fusion comfort food.

We were worried about the long wait so checked out the website and put in a phone order. We ordered the yummy Pork Malunggay noodles and Ube with Shrimp and Garlic sauce! The pasta noodle texture is seriously on point! I would make the trip over and over again. Sooo good! Millie is the sweetest! She took our phone order and helped us from arrival to departure. Upon arrival, we let Millie know we phoned in our order, and wanted to pick out some cheesecakes and drinks Togo! Such hard decisions. We ended up with Ube and Lychee Cheesecakes and both were delicious! We love supporting small businesses! The ambiance is so welcoming! They were so busy and for such a small establishment, was pushing a lot out of this tiny space. No seating inside, small bench outside so please be ware. Many were eating in their vehicles! Can't wait to come back!
