Ordered on doordash! Tried many asian places before! This tasted like a homemade tasty broth with lots of flavor! Thank god it was not sweet! I hate when restaurants put sugar and make their beef or broth sweet! There was a lot of beef in the beef umami soup and the sticky rice was so next level! The food isn't bad from past visits but but I've never had worse service at any of the 8,000 Chinese restaurants I've eaten at as we did today. We came in for lunch and the waitress gave us an iPad to order from, and drinking cups. And basically disappeared for almost a half hour, not even to ask what we wanted to drink or to see if we needed help in ordering. We did submit our orders from to the kitchen from the I Pad. We were getting thirsty and only after multiple attempts were we to get her attention and she eventually brought a pitcher of water. We were beginning to think that our order never got to the kitchen, when one bowl of glass noodle soup, my wife's, out of the four we had ordered finally arrived. Meanwhile I had noticed that the guy at the next table who was already there when we arrived seemingly hadn't been served either. When he saw that we had been partially served he stomped off. Meanwhile the bowl on our table sat as my wife waited for the other bowls of glass noodle soup to arrive before starting. But minutes passed and the others didn't come. So we told my wife to start hers. But when she dug in she saw regular noodles, not glass noodles. The waitress had given us the noodles ordered by the guy at the other table, presumably to placate us!!!. This place has been our go to lunch place at work for food pick ups. The newly added chicken skewers is a must try! It is soft and crunchy on the outside, and the bbq sauce is not too overpowering. Although there was a time when it was overcooked (felt they were in a hurry to get our orders out because they missed it online and didn't start cooking it when we get there to pick it up), i would still recommend this dish. I think itll be worth the money if there are 4 sticks per order rather 3. Another dish i order from here is the glass noodle beef! The broth is very tasty and the serving can be good for 2 persons, generous serving and just perfectly tasty! I have also tried their tofu sticks (ordered it mild spicy). The herb they use for this dish can be a little bit overwhelming but still good all around. Just a note: If ordering online, you might want to call as well just to make sure they received your online order (it happened twice already when we ordered online for pickup and when we got there, they havent made it yet because they havent checked the online orders so we had to wait 20 mins for the food. We placed the online order right when it opened at 11 am on a weekday, so I am not sure if there werent enough crew to attend to online orders on weekdays.). They were apologetic on those two times it happened and the last time the owner gave some free bottled green tea drink. After these two occasions of having to wait, they've been good in checking their online orders (i still call after i place them just to make sure), and the food is ready when we pick them up. read more

Didn't have too much expectation to start but but it was a pleasant surprise. ordered beef noodle rice noddle. it was very tasty and a good portion. What a pleasant surprise. We were just going to have a quick noodle dinner but ended up with more than just the noodle. We ordered a few skewers and appetizers including the beef skewers, beef tongue, fried bread, tofu skin and garlic eggplant. The garlic eggplant was so good - it's topped with generous amounts of garlic and it's so flavorful and soft. It's one of the best I've ever had. The other items are good too with reasonable prices. The 2 stars are for the beef which is usually better than that in 99 Ranch market. However, their service attitude was worth of zero or negative star. When I was there picking up some food yesterday, the young waitress was busy criticizing some customer, who cancelled an online order for some reason. She used "f" words toward that customer loudly enough. I guess she wanted to warn me not to cancel any order from this restaurant, or not to order anything at all. Otherwise I will have to enjoy her "blessing" as well. I will never give me business to this restaurant again. read more

We just moved to Irvine, CA from Seattle and would like to try some Chinese food in Irvine. My wife told me that Hi House promotes the product - Champion Beef Noodle Soup (紅燒冠軍牛肉麵). Free Refill for Noodle and Soup. Since my kids love noodles, I would say it is a good deal. We went there twice. First time: We ordered the Champion Beef Noodle Soup ( 1 bowl) for my 2 kids, but the soup was mild spicy. But it was fine for them. They enjoyed eating noodles especially free refill. My wife ordered Tomato Beef Noodle Soup (紅燒番茄牛肉麵) and she really loved it. Second time: My kids still wanted to have Champion Beef Noodle Soup. This time, the soup a little bit spicy compared to the dining experience for the first time. They did not like it. Suggestion: 1. Since free refill is the good marketing strategy, why not create a kid's menu where they can enjoy eating, but the soup can be either non spicy or mild spicy? 2. Beef doesn't look like it's been stewed very long. Vegetables look like they just came out of the fridge and into a container. Quickest is chicken chow mein! It was brought out In 2 minutes and as I started eating it I could taste the oil, tons of it, so gross. I thought I would tip the container to see how much, there was at least a half cup of oil drenched at the bottom. The chicken tasted awful like it wasn't washed and covered in fat, as if it it weren't trimmed off. In the garbage it went. I also had a diet coke, it was $2 dollars a can. The service isn't great and I'll admit the menu is confusing at first because there are two and you're not sure which one to order off of, but the food is delicious! I first tried some of their skewers, fried rice, noodles, and eggplant through Uber Eats for my family and we all loved the skewers and eggplant. The skewers all come with your choice of meat spiced with this dry heat sort of mixture - flavorful without making your mouth numb. The eggplant with garlic is what stood out to us and left us wanting more. The super tender eggplant is absolutely covered in minced garlic and topped with fresh green onions. If you like garlic or eggplant, it's a must. When I finally went to the restaurant, I tried their tomato beef tendon tripe glass noodle and it was really good. All of the meat was tender and it came with plenty of noodles to fill you up. I loved the strong, sweet but savory tomato broth. Will be back! I live close by, almost two minutes away. I've ordered from Hi House maybe a half a dozen times. I'm ordinarily lenient on judging food service, as I'm in the industry myself, but the last two experiences, I cannot abide. The last two recent times, the order I made kept getting pushed back. Interacting with staff, they couldn't care less about guest experience, updating the customer, or even making sure that someone that is inconvenienced is being taken care of. I'm hoping this isn't a family run/owned business, as I'd like to see it succeed. Customer service is extremely lacking, and that's what's deterring someone close by from ever ordering again. I never like to despegaré businesses, but I do hope whomever reads this, with a modicum of decision making, asks themselves if they want to do right by the owner, and if they want to stay in business. We found this looking for a late night soup place in Irvine. Surprised to see something open until 2AM on Friday & Saturday. The few times we've eaten here... it's just us and another party of 2. So many good options on their menu BUT they always seem to be out of stuff. Their "AWARD-WINNING NODDLE SOUP WITH BEEF SHANK, TENDON, & TRIPE" is what we usually get but they're either out of tendon or tripe so they just give you more of the other. Really good flavors, meat is tender, & decent sized serving. Also tried their Champion Beef Shank noodle soup & that was good too. Their popcorn chicken rice combo is a banging deal for $8.99! You get a big serving of popcorn chicken, rice, all these sides, & broth soup. Only thing that irks me about this place is their service. We're usually the only ones here & yet we always have to try get their attention. One instance, we already paid & the cashier realized she charged us the wrong kind of drink ($1 difference), so she told us she has to void the ENTIRE transaction & redo the whole thing... we could've just given her the $1 CASH but she insisted that wasn't possible. When I see unlimited food, I see a challenge; therefore, Hi House's unlimited noodle and soup was an eventual destination. I got their award-winning beef noodle soup with tripe and tendon. It was empty when I came but that was an hour before they close during their lunch period at 230. For the refills, interestingly they give you a new bowl of your same order minus the meat. The soup tastes good everything is decent. I got medium spiciness and that's good for me. You could opt for spicier and it wouldn't be overwhelming most likely.
