Not dry and pretty flavorful Lamb and beef skewers - so flavorful! We order this every time Fried Rice - we eat a lot of fried rice because it's one of the few things the kiddo eats. We thought it was really good! Sauerkraut fish - better than the two places we have in Lake forest. I love that it comes with the sweet potato noodles but wish it included bean sprouts. Been wanting to come here for years. The skewers always looked so tantalizing. Boy was I wrong. I ordered 3 different kinds of skewers, pork, beef and sausage. The pork and beef were not good at all. They were nothing but gristle with no flavor other than the massive amount of red chili they put on them. The sausage was a little better only because there was no gristle in them. All three types of skewers were dinky. As part of my $60 order, I also got the fried tiger prawn rolls, salted edamame and the popcorn chicken. The fried tiger prawn rolls still had the skins on them and were deep fried on top of that. Not a fan of the skins on shrimp. The salted edamame was overpriced as usual and ok. The popcorn chicken was the only part that was satisfactory since they included plenty of fried basil. Will not be ordering from here ever again nor will I recommend it to anyone. read more

We were craving skewers and went searching when our usual spot turned out to be closed, that's how we found this place on Yelp. What a great find! The service was excellent and the food was amazing. One detail I really loved is that when you order soju, they serve it in a small vase placed in an ice bucket to keep it perfectly chilled. Such a nice touch you don't usually see! Located in the same strip mall as Left Coast Brewing near the corner of Irvine Center Drive and Sand Canyon Avenue, Hi House specializes in hot pot, barbecue, and Chinese cuisine. Their menu offers so much variety that it's impossible to sample everything in just one visit, so you'll have to come back again for another visit! Mango Tea was my drink of choice and I was happy about the taste and sweetness but also the serving size. Popcorn Chicken and Spicy Szechwan Wonton were great starters and they were followed by Lamb and Beef Skewers. Surprisingly the lamb was more tender than the beef! Super delicious and authentic flavor. Love the spicy kick the food has. The spicy cucumber is both spicy and refreshing and garlicky. The tomato beef noodle stew was also very well made if you like a tomato based broth. The green beans are always a great addition. The spices were a bit bland as they put very little initially, so we asked for more spice to be added and they kindly added more and reheated it for us. It was a little on the heavy side of the garlic for me, but my husband liked it. This place had more flavors than the other Chinese Hot Pot One of our servers was not fluent in English, but he did try, and we were able to communicate and understand each other. We are in America, but it doesn't mean everyone speaks English fluently. We assumed it was empty because of the time of night, it it did feel a bit strange. But though it was empty, they did seem to have a healthy amount of to-go orders since we saw many food deliver drivers come in for pick ups. I ordered their beef, tendon, and tripe noodle soup and it was good. The beef was tender, tendon was also tender with good mouth feel, and the tripe was cooked well and was not chewy at all.
