Hi-Tech provided me with the best experience I've ever had with an auto shop. I brought it in for a blown head gasket after the car kept overheating , and turned out the gasket was blown because the motor block was cracked and there were only 1800 cars of the same model made with this motor block; needless to say, they put a ton of time and work into it. They kept me updated every few days as to the progress of the vehicle, and the best part? It would have cost $4000 for all of the repairs, but through coordinating with my previous mechanic who had done poor work, a parts warranty company, and eating a ton of costs to help me out, they only charged me $1600. They were extremely thorough in their work, and I absolutely trust them. This is the only shop I'll be taking my car to, and I recommend it to anybody. read more

I needed a used car and found 2, I paid for car fax reports and scheduled test drives. One had several items identified during our visit that gave us concerns. There was insufficient oil and they refilled it while we were there in the parking lot (after telling us all fluids were full), and there was no transmission fluid at all visible even after running the car. My dad has worked on cars for 60 years including as an engineer for a car manufacturer; he's rebuilt four cars himself, but we still wanted a professional technician to look at both cars. This resulted in 2 cars being evaluated by 2 different shops in the same week. The shops used were based on the vehicle owners' locations, I know the owners of both shops and trust them completely. I paid for the inspections independently, there was no bias in the evaluation. The only favor was fitting us in to their busy schedule to accommodate a sale of the vehicle (a busy mechanic shop speaks volumes to their quality of service and customer satisfaction). I was honest with the seller that we were considering 2 vehicles. This one had a tear in the door vinyl and seat, issues with the fluids, issues with the acceleration, for some reason was repainted 2x in 20 years and had the entire under side painted. The thorough report from Hi Tech saved me a lot of trouble! The car they inspected needed new tires, a new battery, an alignment, power steering and brake fluid flushing and rear differential fluid service. The front shocks leaked, ball joint boots were torn, transmission pan is leaked, rear main seal leaked, intake had a seep hole. This car was advertised as being in excellent condition and being well cared for by a back yard mechanic. If I had the time and ability to work on it, I would have loved to buy it, but I needed something reliable, not a project car serviced by a backyard mechanic. The other vehicle had full fluids, all clean, immaculate interior and exterior and engine compartment, new tires and battery, a full history of professional servicing and lower miles. This was not a slight on their vehicle, it was an objective decision while buying a car. The statements made in her online review speak volumes to the intent to malign a business from which she did not even pay for services. She received a free professional inspection and a free car fax from me in return to aid her in the sale of the vehicle. I came to this shop to get my check engine light off. They turned the light off replaced the part i needed at a reasonable price, smog my car and gave it a wash afterwards. From what I can only assume was the owner, took complete care of me! I walked in to make a appointment and they got me right in! Everyone was very helpful, and even filled my nitro tires for free. Everytime I take my rx-8 in for oil changes the tech's always ask me what type of oil.... my response is always the same, shouldnt you know this.... Took my 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe to these guys about a week ago, after making a prior appointment. They fixed a problem that has existed since I bought the car, about 8 years ago. They also fixed the overheating problem that was new - without suggesting unnecessary additional replacements that a dealer would have suggested. (I know, I have taken this vehicle to three dealers previously.) Other "problems" that the dealers had identified they did not believe to be problems. (What a surprise !) My Chrysler Town & Country suddenly needed a new alternator. I normally do this kind of job myself but I didn't have the time and wasn't sure it was, in fact, the alternator. I checked the prices of a new alternator and was shocked to find prices at the parts stores of 420-450 and none were in stock. I had been to Hi Tech for a different car a few years ago when I lived nearby and they impressed me then. This time I called them in mid afternoon and they quoted me a price of 580 with a 3yr/36000 mi warranty. The job was completed quickly the next morning. They are top notch! read more

I decided to try these folks when my long time mechanic told me my car's transmission was shot and I'd need to pay $6500 for a rebuilt one. I thought I'd get a second opinion. At first Hi-Tech said the same ... $6500 but then they got to digging in and looking at the engine/transmission and found that there was a vacuum line malfunction and valve that was gunked up and recommended I pay $300 for a transmission flush with added lubricant (they admitted it was a gamble) and a few other maintenance items that were over due. In the end I paid $1100 and the car is like new! They went over everything in detail with me so I had a firm understanding and also had me test drive the car with the mechanic riding along. Do not take your car here! They will give you the run around and take advantage of you. I had the worst experience and will never return. I first went in because a warning light was on my dash. After running a 220 test they found it was just my gas cap cracked and I needed a new one which was a cheap fix. After that they do a whole scan of the car and find plenty more issues. After spending almost my whole day there they tell me it won't be finished today and to come back tomorrow. After 2 more days it is finally finished. Then when I get my car back I notice the dash is loose so I bring the car back and they say that wasn't them and they will need to charge me to fix it. I take my car over to the dealer where they tell me I only need a $2 piece to fix it. Needless to say, I will be taking my car to the dealer from now on read more

The staff here are some of the most courteous and friendly people I have met. I work about an hour away from this place and without hesitation they shuttled me to and from work. I have a Jeep Wrangler and had the dreaded death wobble and they were able to fix my car in a day!! They know what they are talking about and its a family owned and operated operation so it's nice to know you're giving back to local businesses. I highly recommend this place. I've gone to this shop for years, and have always found them to deliver quality work at a fair price.. But my last 2 trips in, I've become a little disenfranchised.. It seems they have become more interested in upselling services than just quoting the work that is totally necessary. Perhaps a list of a) what needs to be done today to fix your problem, and b) here's what you're going to need down the road and should start thinking about. In my previous two trips, I've opted out of the more elaborate services, and my car has run fine. Just feel a shift in philosophy I really don't appreciate. read more

Probably won't go here again. The service guy is NOT friendly. I didn't see him smile a single time and he acted like I was imposing on him when I asked questions. The gal who drove me home and picked me up was lovely, but the guy at the counter could use a lesson in social interaction. I took my car in for an oil change and then was told the power steering fluid needed to be changed. Not knowing much about this, I agreed to it and instead of a $64.00 bill (I get synthetic oil), I left spending nearly $200. I had them change the air filter and that was $17.00, so the power steering fluid change cost me almost $100.00. After doing some reading and checking my owner's manual for my vehicle, I discovered this additional cost was totally unnecessary. According to the Dodge Caliber owner's manual, the power steering fluid "should only be checked if a leak is suspected, abnormal noises are apparent, and/or the system is not functioning as anticipated." So I got taken for a ride and it could have been a lot worse. They tried to ding me for an additional $100 to change out the brake fluid, but I said no to that because I knew better where that was concerned. I had my brakes done less than a year ago and there are no leaks, so there's no reason to change out the brake fluid at that $100 price tag. Not pleased with this shop at all. read more

Previously, we had an oil leak while out of town, had it fixed and Hi-Tech Car Care found that the "other place" had installed the wrong size seal. When your vehicle breaks down in a city you've never been to before, finding a quality mechanic can be daunting. We called at least ten shops in Phoenix trying to find the best one. It was a Friday so we knew we'd be stuck until Monday... Might as well find the best shop in town. From the moment hi-tech picked up the phone I was impressed. James was extremely courteous and attentive while diagnosing our issue over the phone to see if it was safe for us to drive the 40 miles to their shop without causing any permanent damage to our engine. He promptly got their top toyota mechanic Justin on the phone and we narrowed down what the issue might be. He was straightforward, highly knowledgeable and patient. When we arrived at the shop, we were greeted warmly by Justin, James and Ms. Vanwinkle. They gave us multiple options to resolve our engine issue. I immediately recognized that Justin knew my 1983 Toyota 22R engine very well and opted for the more extensive repair job. While we waited, we were chauffeured to the best local burritos in town by Ms Vanwinkle. She was nothing short of amazing. Justin finished the job 2 hours ahead of schedule and we were back on the road by sundown. We somehow managed to call, drive in, get repaired and be back on the road all in a matter of hours. Wow. We can't wait until our next trip through Phoenix to stop by and see the crew at high-tech car care! read more

I had a problem with a rear brake light. Normally I do these things myself, but the bulb casing was stuck in the socket. I thought the dealer was not a good choice as they told me I needed a new socket and the work was quite pricey I thought for this. I found Hi-Tech Car Care online. Very impressed!!! I called them yesterday, they had no idea who I am. Jim said I could stop by and he would look at it and find the part I needed and give an estimate. I went there and there was an auto part store in the plaza. I stopped in to see if they had the part and how much it was. To find out Jim had already taken the time to call himself not knowing for sure if I would even show up. That is being proactive and prepared! Then I went to see him and his co worker Ted came out to look at the issue. He went and got some tools and was able to remove the stuck bulb casing so I didn't need a new part. I offered to pay him for his time and he said no. Now, If I were a regular customer I could see that as a gesture, but to someone they didn't know- that is service. They could have easily told me I needed a new part and charged me for the service. I highly recommend them. read more

During a routine oil change I was told that I had a coolant leak and needed the gasket behind the water pump replaced. Justin recommended that I replace the water pump at the same time for a few extra dollars, due to the age of the car and the fact that the $320 estimate was mostly labor charges. I agreed and authorized the work. After they got started I was told that the gasket behind the timing cover also needed to be replaced. I said OK and wound up at the end of the day with a bill for $657.84. The coolant leak was fixed, but soon I noticed a large oil leak. I returned for day two in the shop and was told that the oil pan gasket was "leaking like a sieve" after the first visit. Justin agreed it was their responsibility and replaced the oil pan gasket at no charge. I went home and still had an oil leak. Went back for day three, spent all day at the shop, and was sent home in a rental car. Day four - car was still not ready. Day five, Justin called and told me that my timing cover was "porous" and was "sweating coolant through the cover" and that it needed to be replaced at my cost for another $600. Funny how I went in with an oil leak that they had caused and now had a mysterious new coolant leak. I talked to Jim, told him I wanted a refund (which he did provide) and told him to put the car back together so I could drive it to Van Chevrolet. Jim called back, said the car was now undriveable due to a large coolant leak, and offered to tow it to Van. Van Chevrolet found that the aluminum timing cover was broken in several places due to being overtorqued. The oil pan was full of coolant, the oil sending unit was ruined, and the engine had to be flushed to remove all traces of coolant. I wound up with a bill from Van of $1588.99 to clean up the mess that Hi Tech Car Care made of my car, including $418 for the broken timing cover. Bottom line - the car spent five full days at Hi Tech, starting with a small coolant leak and ending up with the car undriveable on a tow truck with a busted timing cover. It did not have a coolant leak when I took it in for visit three, and it had an oil pan full of coolant when it left on a tow truck. I confronted Jim with the broken part and he refused to accept responsibility. I then has the Service Manager from Van Chevrolet call Jim to explain what they had found, and Jim hung up on him. You draw your own conclusion as to whether you want to take your car there - I am NEVER going back. read more

I had an extremely disappointing experience here, especially after hearing good things about their work. I'm more than knowledgeable about cars and do most of my own repairs. I brought my car in for an issue that was out of my league. Specifically a minor RPM fluctuation on deceleration around 25mph. I asked to go on the test drive with the technition but the manger Tom insisted that wouldn't be necessary, which I thought was weird but I took him at his word. After a series of "tests" the technition Justin concluded I had a blown head gasket, about a $2,500 repair. Not only would that not affect the issue I had originally brought the car in to begin with but knowing what I do about cars and engines I was extemely reluctant to believe that for I had no symptoms of a blown head gasket. They claimed to have done a block test but I wasn't there to witness it myself. They also claimed my car had overheating problems and was misfiring. Which was absolutely not true, I drive the car everyday all over the valley and have never skipped a beat. They were actually insulting my intelligence. When I asked to talk to the technition who worked on my car it took him almost an hour for him to come talk to me. Every question I had he would respond with an extremely rude and defensive attitude and eventually just up and left without saying a word. I took my car to TWO seperate shops and asked for a block test to be done infront of me and both tests confirmed I DONT have a blown head gasket. Hi Tech "Car Car" was about to take me to the bank without any real proof I had a blown head gasket. I honestly don't even recall him taking it on a test drive. They even left my cars front end smudged up with oil. They were going to charge me over $100 to tell me a complete lie but didn't in the end which is why 1 star was fitting. Very pleased. Quick and accurate work, transparent pricing, personable and easy to talk with. Inspection found several other needed repairs, but no feeling of up-sale pressure. Their driver dropped me off to a location 20 min away. In 1 hour they called with list of work/prices, explaining things clearly. When I said "I'll replace my own brake rotors/pads and pneumatic shocks for hood" James replied "OK" without trying to convince why they should do these. The list was emailed as a PDF immediately and prices for items I said I'd do myself seemed less than I'd pay for parts... So I changed my mind and asked that they do entire work list. It took only 1 day to complete a long list of repairs, everything was perfect. The price was slightly less than quoted, and they threw in a couple agreed on smaller items free. I'm confident if there were any problems with the work I could bring them up and get satisfaction w/o hassle and be heard (to reiterate, the work was perfect). They were all about listening to me, rapid accurate work, total transparency, and customer service. One more thing, I noticed their shop was chock-full of vehicles undergoing repair... but my work was done so fast (and accurate) it was like I was their only focus. I feel like I had their full attention. My Jeep is now running great despite my neglecting service for 4 years (besides oil changes) and accruing $4000 in needed repairs... It's seems funny to say, but their quality of work actually took the sting out of my neglecting my Jeep to the tune of $4k! Other shops I've used in distant past... the sting would be there.
