The estimator did not pressure me whatsoever and I ended up getting a quote for a furnace and AC unit replacement. The quote was thorough and after researching everything, I determined it was a fair deal. I went ahead with the purchase and they were out a few days later to get the job done. I cannot begin to tell you how incredibly professional and personable everyone was. They did a stellar job replacing everything and I had no idea how big of a difference this upgrade would make. Additionally, the small details didn't go unnoticed. The new vent going outside, the thermostat and even the Rumpca sticker on the ducts were level and neat. When I reached out, they scheduled a service call combined with final inspection. The tech was great, made necessary adjustments to the coolant and fan. Equally important- he took the time to go through the features of the thermostat that I didn't understand before. Between the adjustments and new knowledge, I was cool and comfortable in no time. The tech was great at explaining how the system works, and even said we could call him directly with subsequent questions. I would absolutely recommend Standard.

They offered many financing options to choose from. When we agreed on an install date, Ben showed up in the morning. He explained what he was going to do per quote & got to work. He installed walking mats to protect the carpet & put in a long day. He started with the demo. We both remarked how quiet he was & we were both able to work upstairs. They pulled permits & had a separate gas guy and a couple of electricians to assist. When it was completed, they showed us what was done & how it operates. We ended up with 25 months same as cash financing & an extra year on the factory 10 yr. warranty for a total of 11 years! They left us with 3 extra filters too. A few days later, they came back for installation. It took about 4-5 hours including complete set up, removal of the old furnace, and some quick paperwork for a rebate. Everyone was friendly, professional, and clean. The new one works like a charm and our house is warm again. Hopefully we'll never need them for another furnace as long as we live in the home, but would use them again if needed and recommend to others.

We got quoted over $2,800 for a water heater or $2,600 if we got the service plan. It seemed high so I called the other company that I have also relied on for appliance and hvac. They were $1,749.51 (including tank, supplies, permit, labor, disposal and tax). I called the technician back from Sedgwick because I wanted to give them first crack at a price match (I frankly would have gone up to $2,000 to match because I like to give the business to good technicians who come right out and are so professional and good). He checked with the company and the company was unwilling to change. So, I went with the other company. For an about $1,000 savings I had to. I like Sedgwick and have had good luck with them in the past (as well as today with the technician - he was fantastic), but with this experience I would ALWAYS get quotes if considering them now.

In my case, they sent their senior guy (Joe, master plumber, electrician, everything you can think of), and he suggested waiving the trip fee in exchange for the hour he spent diagnosing my Daikin heat pump communicating system (zones, zone board, etc.). That was $195, and I thought it was fair. The fix was mostly to adjust my zone board directly rather than through the thermostat, and also to analyze my plumbing needs for other projects. Nice guy, knowledgeable, I enjoyed talking with him. For the HVAC work, Joe had to call Andy, who is their Daikin pro and duct engineer. Andy knows what he's talking about, more than any other HVAC person I've talked to (4Front installed my system in a mess for the previous owner, Binder HVAC charged me a lot for wasted time because they didn't understand Daikin systems, while Twin Cities Heating and Air, Midwest Heating and Cooling, and Golden Valley Heating and Air all had no idea what to do and had weird suggestions). If you have a Daikin system, ask for Andy. He tuned my zone board, fixed some miserable duct work and leaks, and better yet taught me about how things work beyond the mysterious Daikin "algorithm." He was patient with my questions and suggestions, too. This work was about $400, which is way less than the $3,000 I got bilked out of at one of the other places. It took a few hours. For the plumbing, they sent Frank, who is another senior guy specializing in plumbing. Frank worked fast, was courteous, and did a few extra little jobs for me when I asked for advice on them, such as greasing a fused spigot and dabbing some silicone on a hole in the shower frame. He also educated me about my water system, including winterizing and shutoff procedures. For the plumbing work, Frank installed a water mixing valve and also terminated a leaking pipe in the ceiling. This work was about $600. It took a few hours. In both cases, they brought along an apprentice, each of whom was equally courteous and attentive. It was very endearing. For billing, there are a couple of things they do. 1) the charge is the price. They don't do the most granular breakdown of costs in the invoice, but they do calculate it and you can ask what the calculation is. It is not an estimate or a minimum charge, more like a bid. The nice thing about that is that it will cost that and no more, which means they are happy to stick around and help here and there without charging for time. For larger projects, I'm not sure if they would charge the lesser of the bid vs labor time, but I would hope so. I haven't needed them for something big yet. For example, Pulse Electric is an electrician service that never charges more than their bid, and charges for time if it's less. I think Krinkie's would just charge the bid, but I got the sense they would be reasonable if, say, a 3-day project took only 1 day. 2) They have a subscription service that seemed like a no-brainer. For $20/m, they will come out twice a year to tune your furnace/AC, and you also get 20% off all other services, which paid for itself with our plumbing and ductwork needs. Use these guys! I love having them as my go-to people now.

Was hearing some strange sounds from my boiler so asked neighbors who to contact that was affordable/trustworthy. Was referred to Forrest heating. Called number for them and was surprised that they had answered as Cities1. They explained the had purchased Forrest Heating and he was now working for them. Set an appointment to have it looked at the next week. Rep came out and was nice and respectful and had me crank up my heat to see what happened in less than ten min he let me know the unit was heating too high so the High Limit Temp sensor/modual was bad and would run out to the truck to call hiss boss and check and see how much it would cost to fix. After talking to his boss he came back in and let me know it would be about $700 to fix. I asked for a breakdown of the cost and he said he would have his boss call back to give me a breakdown. He also warned me that his boss would likely try to sell me a new boiler given mine was a bit old. Given the cost I said I would have to get another opinion before making a decision. Called another group and explained the condition, part needed and the cost which was met with a laugh. I will admit we didn't discuss the specific product number but I informed him it was a Bryant unit from the 1970's and gave home the model and he stated the part itself should be no more than $100-150 and takes 10 min to install. He then asked if I had turned the temp up on the sensor and turned it back down as it can be common for them to stick? I tried it per his instructions and now everything is working fine again, no $700 fix. Fast forward a month later a bill shows up in the mail (which I fully expected) for $205 for the 15 min visit (which I did not expect) Emailed the company given the cost and being less than satisfied with the $700 quote for a sticky switch and the trying to sell me a new boiler for a minor issue and to their credit the owner got back to me right away. Politely tried explaining to me that $205 is the minimum charge for a house call and that their rates are competitive and even for small jobs they have to bill for more time to make it worth their while. We ended our conversation at that. In conclusion, I'm giving them 2 stars as they came out on time and were responsive to my dispute, but I would not recommend them based on their trip costs, parts cost, calculation of time billed for and in my opinion an emphasis on getting you to do the most expensive things not trying and explaining other alternatives.
