I don't usually write reviews, but this experience truly deserves one. I was having transmission problems and went to car dealership first. They told me I needed a full transmission replacement -- almost $9,000. I went to other shops, and the lowest quote I got was $3,800 to rebuild it, others between 6k and 6.5k, I honestly didn't know what to do. Then I found this transmission shop called Hi-Tech Transmission and decided to get one more opinion. Ever, the Technician; was very kind and took the time to explain things clearly. Instead of jumping straight into a major repair, he suggested that the issue might be caused by old, dirty transmission fluid, so We decided to try a fluid drain and replacement. After about 5 hours, he called me and said the issue was gone. I've been driving my car since then, and everything is working perfectly. No transmission problems at all. The total cost was only $400. What impressed me the most was his honesty. He could have easily charged me thousands like the others, but he didn't. That kind of integrity is rare. If I can say that I've ever met an honest mechanic in my life, it was meeting Ever. While at first thinking I was going to be in need of a major transmission repair, I left his shop with my truck running like its normal self. He took the time to explain to me some of the moving parts that tend to wear, and what could be the cause of the problem I was experiencing. As I was preparing for the worst, even looking for a rental truck to use during the anticipated repairs, he decided to put my truck up on the lift and check it out. What he discovered was an issue caused by another mechanic who recently did a transmission oil change. He corrected it, reset the computer, and had me back on the road. I was driving my friend s Toyota Corolla. Parked the car in the city of Compton and came back to restart the car, the reverse and drive gear were not engaging. I had to call a tow truck and needed to figure where to go immediately since it was a Sunday night ( the area I parked will get a parking ticket $80 if I don't move the car the next day morning for street cleaning ). I searched on yelp and found Ever. Ever s shop was closed on Sunday but I trusted yelp s good review on him. Tow the car there in front of the shop. Went back the next day morning early before hi tech was opened... but Ever was already here at 8am. I was kind of worried about the need of replacing the whole transmission ( $2000 +) Told Ever the situation and he said it seems like a easy fix and hopefully it is. He called me a few hours later and told me that the problem was the transmission shifting cable brushing was broken and he called many places and no one carried the brushing. The auto part companies want me to buy the whole cable for $280 + labor. I will end up paying $400 to fix the car. Ever then said no worries, he is going to find another new brushing close to the size of the Toyota.... then he will custom grinding it slowly and make it fit securely. I watched him grinding the brushing a few times back and forth. And he made that happened and got the car fixed instead of buying a new cable or need to wait 2 days for the brushing order from other websites. Ever is a very trustworthy person and he only charged me $140 for all the efforts ( time to make all the phone calls , inspected the car ... spent time making a different type of brushing ....grinding down the size to make the car running again the same day...... he can easy change me a few hundred bucks to fix the car but he is a super honest, trustworthy and knowledgeable person. After a lengthy search, I came here mostly based on the other reviews, and they were pretty accurate. I have a 2013 Jeep with 120k miles on it, and it had a slipping transmission and it was stalling a lot. Ever was able to diagnose the problem one day and fix it the next day. He was very easy to talk to and communicated everything very well. Given the age of the Jeep, I would not have been surprised to find that it needed a new transmission, but it just needed a tune-up and a new sensor. He took some pictures of the work that was done, which I really appreciated. His prices were very fair. The problems I was having were pretty intermittent, so I am sure that some places would have charged me a lot of money to tell me they couldn't find the problem, or they would have told me I needed a new transmission. I don't remember the guys name but I'm positive he's the main guy there he was very helpful and professional he explained every thing to me and fixed the issue I had with my transmission thanks *Update* My van started acting up again so I decided to give Ever (name of the guy that I didn't know the first time) a call and man all I can say is he has a customer for life! Very honest and trustworthy guy. He allowed me to stay there in the shop while I watched him test everything out on my van and took time out of his schedule to explain every detail about the issue my van was having. Ever did everything to save me money he saw that I had another van in my driveway that is the same as the one that he was working on and gave me the idea to just switch the part that was needed and he even double checked that the part would work, to me that was a big plus he could've easily just allowed me to buy a new one but he saved me $$$ and my van is now back on the road. Thanks Ever! Ever promptly drove my beat up Camry around a few times, testing the transmission solenoids. He was eventually able to communicate with a handheld computer and somehow spark them back into function. No charge. He wouldn't even take the cash tip I offered. What a guy. read more
