All I want to say is, this is the best place in business I've ever been to for an oil change... I bought a Groupon and I needed 100% synthetic oil change and they offered one plus diagnostic... In March of 2023 I had a complete rebuild of my transmission done at this Pasadena AAMCO location. The owner is Sadu Gourkar. I gave them my van while I was out of town for 3 weeks and they committed to have it done by the time I was back. When I returned and it was not done, it took 1 week more to finish it and only because I was on them every day for an update (they were very hard to get a hold of/ Sadu nowhere to be found). It felt like they put it on the backburner & then realized too late that I was about to be home & rushed finishing it (resulting in problems I'm having now). I finally got it back, and all seemed ok- so I just let it go. I got the 18 month warranty which expired barely 2 months ago. Recently, my car started shuddering when I would come to a stop & cut out on me a few times/ would rev hard but not speed up occasionally. After a period of observation it seemed to definitely be transmission-related so I went back to the same AAMCO. They told me my torque converter failed + found metal shavings throughout the transmission and I needed a completely new rebuild. There was no mention of the torque converter being replaced in my paperwork from March 2023. They claimed they replaced it "because it was painted the same color as the manufacturer they order it from." But the guy who worked on it last year no longer works there, and they claim he 'forgot' to put it on my paperwork (which is either proof they didn't replace it at all, or proof that their employees don't do a thorough job). Either way it put me in a position where it was their word against mine that it was replaced. There are other components to the torque converter/ around it that can cause it to fail if not checked. Regardless, AAMCO's website states: Expert technicians who "fix it right the first time" (which clearly has not happened here) AND it mentions that the torque converter is included in the warranty. So it should have been something they replaced along with the transmission/ made sure was in perfect condition so it didn't ruin the entire rebuild I paid $4,323.26 for. A rebuilt transmission should last 100-200K miles or more... They offered to do a complete rebuild again with no charge for labor, but I'd have to pay for the parts (which they say could be up to $2500). Their manager "Thomas" claimed this is a super rare occurence where a new torque converter fails for no reason, and because I'm barely out of warranty they're doing me a favor. They swore up and down they wouldn't charge me more than $2500 (if it came to that), and in the end of course the total was $2,834 so they didn't keep their word on that either. It took several more weeks for the work to be done and it was absolute hell dealing with Thomas. Went to to ask to see if I could get my transmission fluid checked and they told me no not today and said my car had to be on a lift in order to check the transmission fluid. All I was somebody to check my dipstick and see if I had automatic transmission fluid on it. They never even looked at my car so how could they tell me if it needed to be lifted before I had been there before And the guy had checked it by checking the dipstick I go by there today and he tells me again after he told me to stop by again on my review that I put out a month ago and I go by today and they tell me again no not today I hate this prejudice place and I'll never go back again. read more

Documented facts with timestamped evidence: - Arrived at 3:01 PM, paperwork shows mileage reading at 93,563 (timestamped 3:17 PM) - Used approximately 1/4 tank of gas without authorization - Caused a new tire pressure sensor fault (documented in dashboard image) - Coerced me to write a positive review IN PERSON as a condition for partially honoring their advertised "free" diagnostic coupon - Still charged $200 despite the "free diagnostic" advertisement - All this occurred while knowing I was at a critical doctor's appointment for cancer treatment, as a single parent of two children during the holiday season The timestamps and mileage documentation prove the questionable nature of their practices. They removed the pan, checked things out and said the transmission was fine. There was no charge. That's what I call great customer service. My 1967 Chevelle SS has an upgraded Tremec 5-speed transmission that was added a couple of years ago by the person who sold me that car. Recently the car's transmission was grinding between 1st and 2nd gear and experiencing vibration in the shift tree for 3rd and 5th gears. Ben at AAMCO could not have been more helpful in diagnosing the problems thoroughly to arrive at the best repair solution. Ben also was able to show me that the transmission had been incorrectly installed originally. He diagnosed the issue, explained the repairs needed, and fixed it within the agreed price and timeframe. Additionally, Ben had to temporarily remove the old interior center console to perform the repairs. Instead of reinstalling the old console he and his team installed a new replacement console I had been planning to install for free. I came here to get a transmission quote and I came back to them making my car worse! My tire light was on and that was not the case before and my car started to jerk! I should have listened to prior reviews and the manager Sadu did nothing to help. I was quoted 1500.00 just to look at the transmission this place is out to get your money. I am an honest person and I speak truth when I say they are in it for your money. I had other places quote me for transmission investigation 500.00 and that would go toward parts and labor that I would pay on top of that. I'm a Licensed Professional Airline Aircraft Technician/Mechanic, I do most of the work on my own car, but sometimes I don't have the time or the Special Modern Automotive tools required for a Transmission Service. I discovered a Minor Transmission Leak from the Trans Cooler area of my car. I researched Transmission Shops and I found this AAMCO in Pasadena on Yelp that looked pretty professional, the service writer seemed knowledgable, I told him about my Trans Leak, and I also mentioned that it might be leaking from an O Ring, Hose Fitting, or an actual Trans Hose. He said they would figure it out and fix it for me. An hour later he called me and said it was both of my Transmission Cooling Hoses that were leaking, they ordered them and installed new hoses and charged me $900 dollars. When I picked up my car after they finished the job a few days later, I looked under the hood I saw the new hoses, I looked under my car, everything looked ok, no leaks. But on my drive home I started hearing a dragging sound under my car, I pulled over at a Gas Station, I looked under my car and saw that my under car splashguard panel was hanging loose and dragging on the ground, 2 screws were missing and the 2 other screws were barely hanging on, and my Transmission Leak was worse. Whoever worked on my car did a horrible job, they left loose screws and it looks like they did not even do a LEAK CHECK to confirm they fixed the leak. That's Basic Mechanic Knowledge, make sure everything you install is properly torqued and always Test and Leak Check systems that you worked on. Thank God that Shoddy Mechanic does NOT work on Airplanes, he should NOT be working on Cars. I ended up Fixing My Car Myself, and I found out the Leak was coming from the Trans Cooler Fitting O Ring, Like I had mentioned to the AAMCO Service Writer. The Fitting and O Ring cost me $15 from the Dodge Dealer. I Do NOT Recommend this Shop. read more
