Check engine light went on and glad I found Bavaria Auto Center! I first went to a shop close to my house but their recommend fix was far off what I thought the issue to be. Decided to take to yelp for a shop that specialized working on BMWs. Bavaria was one of three shops I considered and glad I ended up at their garage! It's on Rosemead blvd so it's not the easiest lot to get into during rush hour. I called around 3pm and spoke to Don who said come on by. Don was able to take a look at my car and diagnose the problems within 15 minutes. I was not charged a diagnostic fee. I needed to get my valve cover and gasket replaced and an intake system cleaning. The price quoted was well below the price I had in my head so I left the car there on Thursday 430pm. And they said it will be ready by next day 3pm. Don and the whole team were extremely professional and made me feel like I was getting taken care of! I received a call around 12 and they told me they needed to also replace a cracked hose and that I would only charged for the part and no additional labor. Don is the best mechanic and has the best service ever! I had my 2018 BMW X2 serviced there first time. (The BMW dealership quoted me $780 for break pads replacement). I called to Bavaria, Don explained to me that I have two options; OEM parts. $350. Aftermarket parts $275. Which I think the price is so reasonable and he's being so honest to me. I chose the OEM part. Everything done less than a hour . Don showed me the parts as well and he sanitized my car and my car key during the covid pandemic before return it to me. These guys are the absolute worst. My sister took her 2003 Mercedes C240 in to see why the AC had stopped working and was told that the whole system had to be replaced at a cost of $1900. She then called another shop nearby that gave us a quote for about $1200 for the same work, but didn't actually have them look at the car. When we finally did the car to get another opinion I was told that the system just needed to be refilled with freon for about $60. So not only did the mechanic lie about the work that needed to be done, he gave the highest estimate possible just to take advance of a potential customer. I wish I would have taken the car myself so that I could have been more specific with who the actual mechanic was, but I'll just assume that everyone who works here is a crook. Based off this one experience I wonder how many customers have gotten unnecessary work done based on their recommendations? Please get a 2nd opinion if you have ever gotten an estimate for repair from this shop, and do not trust anything they say. Update: In response to Rudy's reply, the mechanic who actually did end up fixing my car did not charge me for a diagnostic test and then proceeded to solve the issue for $60. Maybe you should take this opportunity to reconsider some of your business practices. Instead of getting defensive and insinuating that I went through the trouble and wasted my time to give this review and made the entire thing up, maybe you should use this as a learning experience and make improvements to your business such as not charging for diagnosis. But again it's your business and I'm just one customer, but I definitely won't be returning here and hope that users will read my review and see your reply, and take our conversation into consideration. read more

My review is only based on my poor experience of speaking to this place. I can not say they do bad work or have bad pricing but I called and asked for a quote with a specific list of things that needed to be repaired. I have all the information for the parts and all I wanted to know is if the repair I was requesting was going to cost an arm and a leg. The person I spoke to on the phone absolutely refused to give me any level of pricing and stated "he isn't the one who gives the price" I asked if I could speak to that person or leave a call back number and he said no I had to bring the vehicle in to be inspected. I understand the want to do an inspection but I was asking for a very specific repair and he wouldn't even attempt to give me any level of pricing even if he said it was just a rough quote I would have been ok. I took my BMW 2002 to Rudy last summer to get a tune up and fix a minor issue. (Prior two other shops didn't know what was wrong with it , they told me out of their league bc it's an electrical problems ) As I was driving down haven st in Rancho Cucamonga , I waved down a young fella whom was driving a bmw , I asked him where he takes his car for service, he told me he goes to "Balvaria" in Rosemead and to ask for Don. I was pretty desperate to wave down someone and do such thing , but I did bc I was limited to options and tired of being scammed. I called The shop and spoke to Don, we spoke briefly and he asked me to come in so he can take a look, Soon as I drove up Don greeted me and had such a warm aura to him, he made me feel calm , he did a few tests and told me within an hour or less that it was my starter that's faulty . He gave me a quote and we settled for a price which was a great deal, (most places would have charged double! they won me over with their service and honesty , they didn't try to cheat me out and add other incentives . If I have any other issues with my car I plan on going back. After years of taking my car to different shops I can say I've finally found my home shop . I brought my car here upon the suggestion of a professor who overheard my sorry ass complaining about my need for a new transmission. She had brought her car here and told me that the customer service was genuine and sincere. So, not knowing where else to take my car, I went to Bavaria and spoke to Don. They do specialize in BMVs, but I have an older Toyota Camry model. He took a look, gave me several possible scenarios and quotes. He was very thorough and although he's slightly off at times. My used transmission was guaranteed for 1 year and *knocking on wood even though I don't believe it helps* so far it's been peachy for almost 2 years. And true, when he says 4pm, you have call that morning, and possibly even be physically there to pressure them to give them your car on time =( read more

I've had many BMW's from 325, 528, 740, X5 and one E320 MBZ...all serviced by Rudy. Rudy does excellent work. If he's pricey, his work is worth the cost. Unless he misses something in his diagnosis of the problem (he is human), the problem gets fixed! There's been a couple of times that something hasn't gone as planned, but he was very good at fixing and making me happy. One reviewer mentioned that he charges for parts above dealer price. Some shops give you that advantage and some don't. Again, I find the cost worth knowing he does a good job and does it right. If you go to the dealer and buy the parts yourself, you'll still pay the same price regardless unless you have a dealer's license or a friend with one. Do I wish he gave that advantage...of course. Who wouldn't? I wish lots of things were cheaper in life. I have no problem referring my friends to Rudy. I tell them like this: Take your car wherever you want...when you want it fixed right, take it to Rudy. You may pay slightly more, but it will be fixed the first time. You don't own a BMW or MBZ in the mindset that repair costs are cheap. One hopes they are few, but certainly they're not cheap. If you want (all around) cheap, stick with the American cars. Bavaria Auto Center gets 5 stars because Rudy does his job, and does it well. He may not be the cheapest in town, but he is one of the best. His price is fair. I have been using different dealer shops or mechanics for the BMW I have. There was a strange problem that when the outside temperature is hot, the engine would turn off when the car is at a stop. It happened to me a few times when I lived in Valencia and I went to Valencia dealer shop to check, but they didn't find the cause of the problem. I went to BAC for a check and Don figured out it could be engine thermal sensor problem. That really fixed the problem. Don is an expert that you want your car to be fixed by. He knew EVERYTHING about my 540I BMW. Nice, friendly and with huge knowledge- he is an Expert. He was willing to honestly explain the issues that my car has. No overcharging, no rip- offs. I thought that my car has an oil leak. Don told me that the engine needs to be cleaned first and checked for leaks. He did that and said, that the liquid that I had on the driveway a day before, was probably a liquid that accumulated for a long time and finally spilled. I would recommend this shop for service. My Benz needed a brake job. I had it in to Top Way Auto at El Monte, they couldn't take out the brake retainer pins. They said I need to change out the 2 front calipers which cost me thousands. They still charge me a hour for something wasn't done. I didn't want to call the police out for a $95 argument. I was referred her by my dad's friend, I have a 2002 BMW 330 Ci and I had a ton of problems with my car it needed a new fan, tensions, belts, coolant, water reservoir, oil change and some other things I can't remember because it was so much. The owner Rudy is really nice and genuine he has been working on BMW's all his life he really knows his stuff. He took the time to explain to me what exactly was wrong and what could have caused it. For all the repairs I needed I thought I would be carless for at least a week because he did have other cars ahead he took exactly two days and the price was very fair for the amount of new parts I needed. A while back, my BMW wouldn't start, and I had it towed here. They quoted me 2 parts and $800, and told me it would be done next day at 4pm. They said BMW only delivered once a day, and when they get the part tomorrow, they would put it in right away. I asked him were those the only 2 parts? He said yes, since he tested it with old parts that he had and when he replaced those 2, it started and ran fine. Next day, I called him at 3:30, asking him if it would be ready at 4. He told me, oh, BMW sent the wrong part, and it would be ready tomorrow. So, I am thinking, how hard is it to read a part number (that is printed on the part itself) over the phone. Anyway, I offered to go to BMW in Alhambra and pick up the part, but he said he didn't have time to install it today. I asked him why he didn't call me earlier, and he mumbled something incoherent. I called next day at noon, and confirmed that he got the part, and then he said it will be ready at 4pm. When I called again at 3:30 to make sure it would be ready (since I needed to drop off the rental car first), he assured me it would be ready. Right before hanging up, I told him I wanted the old parts. So, when I got there at 4, someone was still working on the car. It wasn't until 6pm before I got the car and left. With the parts in hand, I called BMW and ask for quotes on the 2 parts, and they quoted me cheaper prices (about 20% cheaper.) All of the other mechanics I been to, charged me what the dealership charged them and they made money on the installation. Is this why he didn't want me to go pick up the parts?!?! Also, my second concern was that it took him about 1 hour after I dropped off the car to give me the quote (diagnosed the car, remove the suspect part, put a replacement part in, and get it to start,) yet it took him over 2 hours the second time (with the new parts)??? read more

I have been going to Bavaria Auto Center for at least 5 years, I own 2 bmw's, '98, 528i and '90, 325i. Don has worked on both cars, he is very detailed and always spends the time to explain things right. I trust Don, and Rudy with the utmost confidence. I don't trust most shops with my cars as they are sometimes guessing at the problem. I've never had any problems with Bavaria Auto Center. In July of 2012 I drove my 528i up to Eugene Oregon, the weather condition from Sacramento to Eugene where 105Fto 111F driving 75 to 85 mph, with the AC on, 3 of us in the car and luggage and the elevation. I experienced a slight hesitation from the tranny or something. I took it a little easier on the car the rest of the way. When I got to Eugene I started looking for a BMW dealer or shop. My first thought was perhaps the fuel filter was clogged. A BMW dealer in Eugene was going to charge me $185 to change the fuel filter and another BMW auto shop was going to charge me about $95. Without being able to duplicate the problem I knew it would be like looking for a needle in a hay stack. I decided to call Don and told him what I was experiencing. He suggested that I look for a crack in the air intake and that it would not be a clogged fuel filter due to the sophistication of the car. I replaced the filter as it was dirty and found some leaves in the air intake chamber. I got home without any further problem (1000 miles). Being in another state 1000 miles away and not knowing what shop to trust, I am grateful to Don for helping me out over the phone when he didn't have to. THANKS DON!!!
