I never really leave reviews as I don't really care to. But after taking my car to Nick and having the experience I had, I knew I had to write something up. I hadn't been driving my car a lot this year but when I did, I noticed the transmission would throw a temperature warning and shift rough here and there. It recently became more frequent so I knew I had to take it in. Expecting a big issue, I took it in to Nick with some assumptions based off a transmission leak that was fixed a little more than a year ago. Not only did I have it completely backwards but Nick showed me things I never would've imagined. The previous shop that fixed the leak not only overfilled the transmission fluid but somehow lost the factory screws and bolts and swapped them with replacements that did not fit properly. Nick took his time explaining what was wrong and what the fix was. I cannot recommend him enough. He is honest, thorough and genuinely cares. read more

The engine warning light on my husband's Toyota Corolla had been going on and off for over a year when we brought his car to Nick. The guys quickly diagnosed the problem, dismantled the box, and carefully cleaned, replaced faulty parts, and reassembled. Nick is clearly an expert, and his team does careful, quality work. OK so I am a couple years late writing this review, but on the plus side it allows me to give a nice long-term perspective of the work done. I have a 5 speed Honda Civic and I was getting some noise in first and if i remember correctly 2nd gear. Almost like cards on the spokes of a bike wheel. I had a new clutch put in (by my regular mechanic) and I was still getting noise. At which point I was told it had to be my transmission (ouch). I went to a Honda Mechanic as well as my mechanic and then Nick. I always get more than one opinion. Nick told me he would have to pull out the transmission to tell for sure. At that point youre committed. He called me in and showed me where the edge of 1st gear was carved away, this was causing the noise. He gave me a fair cost to fix it so I had it fixed and I took it home. Something wasn't quite right , so I took it back. He made a couple minor tweaks and 2 - 3 years later all is still great!!! This Place Is A Nightmare The Owner Nick Doesn't Know Anything About Cars. My Nightmare Started Few Weeks Ago When I Brought My Mercedes In For A Tune Up. I Was Referred To Nick By A Close Friend. Nick Took A Look At My Car & Told Me My Car Needed A Transmission Fluid Flush. And Few Other Small Things. He Told Me To Bring The Car Back The Next Day And He Would Take Care Of All The Problems. The Following Day I Brought The Car Back To Him And I Came Back 2 Hours Later. When It Came Time To Pay For Everything Nick Tells Me Of A Cash Discount If I Didn't Pay Him With A Credit Card. I Knew Something Wasn't Right When He Told Me That And I Started Wondering If This Guys Was Running A legitimate Business. I Took The Car And Went On The 210 Fwy. When I Started Driving The Car On The 210 Fwy I Started Hearing Weird Noises And Grinding Noises. I Started To Panic And Took The Car Back To Nick. ( I Never Had Any Car Noises Before I Took The Car To Nick ). Nick Sat Next To Me While I Drove My Car. He Told Me After 10 Minutes That I Would Have To Leave My Car There Overnight !!!. At This Point I Was Very Upset Because He Was Not Answering Any Of My Questions And Started To Dodge Them Instead. I Asked If He Was Certified And He Started Talking In Another Language To His Co - Worker. I Knew They Did Something Wrong And No Way Was I Leaving My Car There Overnight. I Called A Tow Truck To Take My Car To The Dealer. The Dealer Looked At My Car & Told Me Whoever Worked On My Car Took My Transmission Apart And Did Not Install Everything Correctly Also The Transmission Fluid That Was Used Wasn't Even The Correct One !!!. The Repairs Ended Up Costing Me $7K !!!.. When I Went Back To Confront Nick & Ask For A Refund Because He Ruined My Car He Told Me That I Paid For His Time And Would Not Offer Me A Refund. I Told Him And His Associate That They Cost Me $7k To Repair My Mercedes. He Played It Off Like He Didn't Hear Me. This Guy Is A Con Artist Snake , Stay Away From This Place !!!. I Contacted A Lawyer To Help Me Take Care Of This Issue. Since He Never Picks Up His Phone Anymore And Every Time I Drop By To Have A Talk To Him He Apparently Has To Go Somewhere. This Guy & His Co Worker Are Crooks And Con Artists. They Have No Certificates Of Any Kind & Are Very Rude Stay Away From This Place , Go Elsewhere Or They Will Ruin Your Car Like They Did To Mine. read more

My 2004 Mini-van broke down 75 miles out of town on a Saturday afternoon. It was clearly a transmission problem, so I called Nick based on the positive reviews in Yelp. Nick told me he would take care of receiving the vehicle when the Tow truck brought it in, and gave me his cell phone number to coordinate if it was delivered after hours. Long story short, the car wasn't towed until Sunday but Nick happily agreed to make a special trip to the shop on Sunday to receive it. Exceptional customer service. Nick quickly diagnosed that the radiator had leaked coolant into the transmission and worked with me on the price to replace the radiator and rebuild the transmission. He showed me the damaged parts and kept me informed of the progress on repairing it. Nick clearly has a lot of experience with transmissions and general auto repair and stands behind his work with an excellent warranty. To be safe, I had Nick also perform a transmission service on my pickup truck, as it was overdue. Again, he gave me a very good price, showed me the replaced filter and gasket and even fixed a leaking windshield washer reservoir for free. He clearly goes the extra mile to make his customers happy. If you need transmission service, you can take it to a dealer and have someone with a clean white lab coat work on it for top dollar, or you can take it to Hi Tek and get it fixed right, at a great price, and with excellent customer service. Nick is a king. I had unexpectedly left town for months and it showed in my car (dirty, dirty car and engine bay, dead battery, etc.). Before I left town, the car had thrown a couple of transmission codes and the check engine and AT lights had come on. Once I returned, I towed the car to Nick's shop and he replaced the battery, diagnosed the issues, and most importantly, understood that I needed to get it into shape to pass smog and sell the car immediately, without exceeding the value of the car in parts/labor. In short, he spent a lot of time with my vehicle but only did the work it needed (without upselling me) to pass smog/resolve the issue causing the check engine light so that I could renew my registration and sell the car. He also helped me get it into much better physical shape for selling. He did it all with extremely fair pricing, photos and videos updating me along the way, and good communication. I can't tell you how many places I've gone for car issues! I own a 2006 BMW 328i and its gotten to that point where it needs special attention, sadly its not shiny and new anymore. Took my 2007 Nissan Versa here based on yelp reviews. I'm very glad I did. Nick is a very professional and skilled transmission guy. He did a service and flush of my lousy CVT system which was causing problems and delays dropping. into gear. I left the car to continue my day. I was surprised a couple of hours later to receive a couple of pictures texted to my phone by Nick to show me the condition of the filter from my transmission. This is a courtesy I've never received from a mechanic before. The car was ready 30 minutes before he said it would be. And when I arrived to pick it up and I told Nick how I'd spent my day he surprised me again by me that if he had known that he would have loaned me his car for the day! Have you ever heard such a thing? He showed me what he had done, which included clearing a couple of computer codes. He told me to bring the car back in a week so that he can be sure the codes are cleared for good, or let him do a full diagnostic if they weren't. No charge! I do not leave a lot of reviews, but my service was so terrible, that I feel obligated too. I took my Eurovan there to get the steering column reattached t the subframe. I was quoted $2900, and told them that I was just getting my car ready to sell it and I only need the steering fixed. He kept calling me with things that needed to be done. I said yes to some and no to others. Everytime I asked how much will this cost, I don't want to put more the $4000- 5000 into this car since I am selling it. Up to the very day that I picked it up Nick assured me that it was under $4000, not near $5000. Picked it up $5445. What! Not what I was expecting. I had no choice because he took so very long with my car that I was going on a road trip that same morning. He had my car for over a month and a half. I was told it was done, but I was leaving town for a week, so I could not pick it up the next day. I come back from vacation, call to get my car....it is not finished. I asked what happened between the day I left when I was supposed to be able to pick it up and now a week later. He had no real answer, just told me I have one more thing to do. That took 5 more days. I had a bad feeling about Nick from the start, he kept saying "Trust me" with almost every sentence, which to me seems like I should not trust you. Well, I should not have, because 30 minutes after we drove away the car started making a awful noise, I have tried to contact Nick to talk about it and he will not return my texts or calls. About a week ago I began experiencing shift flaring and harsh reverse engagement in my 2006 Mustang (5r55s). I found this place when my car was acting up pretty bad. Nick the guy in charge try to drive it and automatic he told me it wasn't safe to drive. He said he would check what for the problem. He raised my car and he showed me off the back how damage my axle was. He repaired and fix it with a very low cost. It was a fast and pain free experience. We found Nick after several mechanics told us that the transmission in our 93 Camry had to be replaced. The quotes we were getting were ranging from $3000-$4000. When we got to Nick, he was able to give us a full diagnosis after a quick tour around the block. He explained how the transmission works and that our issue was with a small part of the transmission--not the entire transmission. A couple if weeks ago Nick checked my transmission mount on my 1991 Ford Aerostar and found that it was defective. He didn't have time to put it on because he was busy. I went to pep boys purchased the mount and went to Island Tires on colorado in pasadena. Told them to check the mount and install the new one if needed. The mechanic at island tires told me the mount was good and that my rearend was bad. My rearend was completely rebuilt two years ago. Went back to Hi Tek Automotive Transmission and told Nick what the mechanic at Island Tires said. Immediately, Nick jacked up my van and removed the broken mount and installed the new mount. Nick also told me my u- joints were bad. Had to wait til the next day because I had to borrow the money to cover parts and labor. Nick removed my driveshaft and a friend drove me to General Driveshaft in Monrovia, Ca. where Duane installed the new u- joints. Drove back to Hi Tek and Nick stopped what he was doing and installed my driveshaft. Haven't had any trouble since. Nick is probably the best mechanic I have found in Pasadena, Ca. HONEST. My transmission light came one and I had problems accelerating. I took my BMW X3 to my then-regular mechanic who ran a diagnostic and informed me my transmission needed to be replaced. After getting 4 quotes ranging from $4,000 to $6,000, a friend introduced me to Nick. Nick ended up replacing a transmission valve and serviced a few other things...total bill just over $1,000! I appreciated him figuring out what the problem was and just not replacing the entire transmission. I recently had him order new windshield wipers where I paid $20 less than if I purchased them retail along with free installation. Very happy with the service. I love my Thousand and three Acura MDX and the transmission went out at 120,000 miles and the dealer wanted $5000 to replace it. I looked around and found hi-tek on yelp and Nick took great care of my car and charged me only $3000 and it's now been over a year and the car is running great. I'm say should've gotten a new car but the car was worth more to me than that and it's nice not having a car payment and less insurance. It's a small shop and I was initially a little skeptical but if you look at all the reviews and look at my experience then he's a five star business to me!
