I bought a 2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Having read about the car, upon taking delivery I immediately wanted to install a high-performance Velocity AP brand lightweight flywheel, twin plate clutch, and ECU tune - so I called Velocity AP directly - Without hesitation, they recommended Pasadena Motor Cars, one of the only VAP partners within 250 miles of my house. In short, Pasadena Motor Cars WAY exceeded my expectation- they perfectly installed the flywheel, clutch kit, and did the ECU tune (big job). Further, my car had a check engine light problem that the previous owner's mechanics were not able to fix. Pasadena Motor Cars solved this quickly, carefully diagnosing without randomly replacing parts on a trial-and error-basis like other shops. They identified the exact certain non-OEM parts that were causing the problem and replaced them inexpensively. My car also had a shifting problem and Pasadena Motor Cars took a personal interest in researching the problem, and at their own expense, tried different transmission fluids and replacement parts to find the best combination that significantly improved this factory defect on first-year Vantages (early 2006). They replaced the trans fluid and a few linkage parts at a great value, and in the end greatly improved the stick shifting of the car. Also, my rear bumper insert by the license plate was loose, I was worried it would fall off. Based on the design, to get to the loose bolt, you have to take the bumper off! To my surprise, when I got my car back, it was fixed! They did this for me as a courtesy! Another example of their service: My left front headlight was about ¼" recessed- I asked them if they could just raise it. This turned out to be very significant! The previous owner had been emphatic that there was "no body work or paint work", but in the process of them raising the headlamp back to factory position, Pasadena Motor Cars identified that indeed, there had been bodywork on the front quarter panel ... This is why I would 100% recommend that if you are buying a luxury/high-performance car, you should take it to Pasadena Motor Cars for a pre-purchase inspection. I asked Pasadena Motorcars to do a lot of preventative work, including hood struts, install a fuel injector, replace ignition components, and install high-performance air filters. In conclusion, ALL the work they did was exceptional, and a year later, I have not had 1 single problem with the car, nor any dash light come on - since I picked my car up from them, it runs and sounds like a private jet. To top it off, I was very picky that they do not put any greasy treatments on the interior when they gave it a wash after service- when I picked up the car it was immaculate, and my favorite picture of the car is 3 weeks after their wash! As you can tell, I would not hesitate to recommend Pasadena Motor Cars. Give them the time required to do your car right, and you will be very satisfied. I have gone to PMC for about three years now and I cannot recommend them enough! As a 19 year old girl it's really intimidating going into a mechanic but they always talk through every step. They walk me through the pricing of each part and all the combined labor so I am able to see exactly where my money is going. Also each time I take it in they send me pictures of my entire car including brakes, tires, and all the parts, as well as that they send me updates on any work that might need to be done now or in the future. Every time I take my Jeep in it is fixed perfectly and I have had my car returned in better shape! They have a great car wash guy who washes it to the point of it looking brand new..... he does so good I also take my car there bi-monthly for a wash! I have used Pasadena Motor Car (PMC) for decades but now that I have become disabled, I needed them desperately to make my Land Rover run well again. After not having to visit them for over a year, I had my Rover trailered in to their shop and gave them a list of the problems the Rover was displaying. NOW DON'T GET ME WRONG, they are not necessarily crooks, but they now use a set of "analytics" to show you all the problems and potential problems that you might need addressing, with photos. I fell for it but because of the medications I am on, I just didn't want to fight it. I said go ahead (to the tune of $7,000+) After a month, they called me to come get my repaired vehicle. I did and found that they had not repaired the problems but still charged me over $7,000. They had me bring my Rover back and kept it for another week. When I picked it up (and was charged an additional $832.) I almost crashed the vehicle because it was now worse than when I trailered it in. I immediately put a stop on my credit card and Wells Fargo flat out lied to me abut sending me information by USPS. When I finally did get them to send me the decline notice, I called them for a complete set of documents that they used to determine that PMC was OK in charging me the $832. I came here because of a referral but my experience wasn't as expected. My car had a check engine light and I had taken elsewhere to get checked out first. They reset the codes and then the codes came back a few miles driving it. I originally was going to go back to the first place but someone that I trust, highly recommended that I go here. When I dropped off my car, their customer service was great. Their waiting area is pleasant and they provided me a ride home shortly after. They inspected my car and their lead mechanic refused to do any work on my car because he said that the engine was shot and I needed I new one. The oil levels were so low that it was thick, it was also making a rattling sound, it didn't look good. They quoted me 15,000 to replace the engine. My car is worth less than that. I asked if they would change the oil and they said no but they would add oil so that I can drive it home. I went back to the original place, that mechanic took apart part of the engine and replaced the timing belt and a variety of other parts, spark plugs, oil change. Anything that he saw that looked like it could be trouble he called me to recommended replacing. It was extremely labor intensive. With all that my car runs beautifully and it cost me 3,500 dollars. I am very disappointed to have to write a review like this but it goes without saying that nobody should have to go through the amount of disservice I have faced with Pasadena Motor Cars. Over the past 5-6 years I have probably spent $10,000 servicing my cars at Pasadena Motor Cars and although much of the work was good work, there are just too many occurrences where things that shouldn't have happened, happened. They charge $240 an hour for labor which is a very expensive but fair labor rate for perfect quality work, yet their labor is everything but quality. All of these disservices were on my 2010 Land Rover LR4. I will separate each occurrence by paragraph. (as a side note there is another situation that I had with a coolant pipe that I will reply to this review with.) The first situation occurred when I took my LR4 in to have maintenance done and they told me that the car needed motor mounts. I authorized the work and they went ahead and did the maintenance. The motor mounts that were used were quality parts and are still functioning properly today, however, after this job was done I would get a hard clunk in the drive train when driving sometimes. I ended up taking it to a shop that had recently done transmission work on my car. The shop took a look under the car and immediately pointed out that my front differential mounting bolts had been left completely loosened with about an inch of space for the mount to move on each screw. Pasadena Motor Cars had completely left my differential bolts undone from when they had done my motor mounts. this is anything but quality work, not to mention that it is also a massive safety hazard to me and everyone driving on the road when this issue was present. There is no excuse for this, something like this should never happen. This situation led me to never want to give this place my business again. This happened when my LR4 started to have a weird issue where the car would take 30 seconds to a minute to crank when attempting to start it but would run perfectly when it finally turned over. I took it to Pasadena Motor Cars who proceeded to charge me $850 to diagnose the truck, sat on it for a week, and then proceeded to tell me that they found that my fuel pump had jumped time and it was just off by enough to make the truck not want to start but run fine. They even went as far as telling me that they pulled the vacuum pump and even put the JLR timing tool into the correct position and it wouldn't line up properly thus proving it was out of time. They then quoted me $13K to rip apart the whole engine to "fix" this issue. I was crushed by this information because there was no way I was going to pay 13K for an engine rebuild, at that point you sell the car or buy a whole new remanufactured motor. Me being troubled by this information I did some investigating by myself and about 3 weeks later of diagnosing the car myself during my free time, and I had discovered that the ignition coil ground cable had an unusually high resistance. (a short) Because of this I picked up some wire from home depot and simply rewired my coil grounds from the front of the engine to the body and the car started right up and ran better than it ever has. To summarize this experience, they charged me $800 to diagnose my car, and even identified in the diagnosis write up that the coil and spark plug had "weak spark." Yet, they decided to ignore this simple hint and proceed mislead me into rebuilding the engine for 13k either out of incompetence of not lining up a fuel pump tool properly or straight up lying and pure dishonesty. This drew the line for me. I had wasted $800 just for my car to be misdiagnosed and fixed by myself for $15 of wire at the Home Depot. This is my final occurrence which leads me to write this review because it is by far the most frustrating, especially when living in California. About 4 years ago Pasadena Motor cars diagnosed my car with a bad AC compressor. They quoted me $1800-$2000 to have the compressor replaced and I authorized them to do the work. they did so and the air blew cold, however the rear AC never blew as cold (weird). About a year later I was driving down California blvd when my compressor locked up and ripped my serpentine belt in half. I took it in and they warranted the compressor and replaced the belt for free, however they claimed that it was necessary to replace the condenser and that it was the "reason" why my AC was never working properly and why my compressor locked up. They charged me $1400 to do the condenser, yet my AC was never right. Last summer when I finally got the car running again I noticed my AC was not working well (17k miles after compressor and condenser were both replaced) and now I have just spent another $2500 on a new compressor and condenser, just 3 years and 20k miles after they did mine. This was so disappointing to me, $3500 down the drain. read more

Being this is my first Land Rover - Discovery Sport, I knew the dealer service cost would be astronomical, so I had to research a place who would be more cost friendly. I dropped off my car in the morning, they graciously provided me a ride to the train station and offered to pick me up.
