Went to Hialeah Park for the 100th year celebration food and wine event and i can say i was extremely surprised with the experience. Hialeah can really show out! The event was very organized and the outdoor area was absolutely beautiful. So many great vendors and the food was absolutely delicious. The empanadas and paella from La Bodeguita were an absolute hit as well the Espresso Martini from another vendor. Cant to see what Hialeah brings next year.

Hialeah Park is a historic landmark and sports icon where horse history racing was made. The racetrack was opened in 1922 when Florida was becoming a popular tourist destination by aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss and his partner, Missouri cattleman James H. Bright, as part of their development of the town of Hialeah incorporated in 1921. They wanted to create a winter attraction to lure south the winter tourists of Palm Beach. Hialeah Park covers 40 square blocks of central-east side Hialeah from Palm Avenue east to East 4th Avenue, and from East 22nd Street on the south to East 32nd Street on the north. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on March 2, 1979. Hialeah Park launched as a greyhound racing track operated by the Miami Kennel Club. The Miami Jockey Club opened Hialeah's Thoroughbred horse racing track on January 25, 1925 with a small grandstand for 5,000 people. In 1930, industrialist Joe Widener purchased Hialeah Park. He and his partner Col. Edward R. Bradley invested millions in renovations. Widener and architect Lester Geisler traveled racetracks throughout Europe and North America for design inspiration. The tree-lined paths and sweeping staircases were designed after Ascot and Deauville. The lines of the administration building were taken from a chateau in France. The walking ring from Longchamp, the tunnel leading to the track from Epsom Downs, and the terraces and balustrades from a casino visited in Monte Carlo. Hialeah Park was widely considered the most beautiful racetrack in the world. Real flamingos were imported from Cuba in 1931 by Widener to inhabit the lake in the track's infield and they can still be seen residing on a certified Audubon Bird Sanctuary island today. Seabiscuit made his racing debut at Hialeah Park in 1935. Other famous horses that raced here include Forego, Seattle Slew, John Henry, Citation, Spectacular Bid, Northern Dancer, Buckpasser, Carry Back, Bold Ruler, and War Admiral. On January 16, 1936, Hialeah Park became the first thoroughbred horse racing venue to install a photo-finish camera, revolutionizing the accuracy of race results in the sport. Countless numbers of dignitaries and celebrities have visited this race track. Famous visitors included Sinatra, Crosby, Jolson, Durante, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Princess Grace of Monaco, Glenn Ford, Elizabeth Taylor, George Raft, Angie Dickinson, John Philip Sousa, Will Rogers, Joe DiMaggio, and Joe and Rose Kennedy. During a visit after WWII, Winston Churchill declared it extraordinary while Presidents Harry Truman, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, and John Kennedy also attended races here. Diane Crump became the first female to ride at a major track here and Sunny Jim Fitzsimmons wintered here. National Museum of Racing. Hall of Fame Trainer Woody Stephens was a fixture at 'Barn M' each winter for 50 years. Trainers extraordinaire Ben and Jimmy Jones of Calumet Farm fame began the careers of champions at Hialeah Park. Visitors came to see the best races in the country as they dined in the Nashua Room and drank on the Flamingo Terrace in the Flamingo Pavilion added by Eugene Mori who purchased the track in the 1960's. Added to the park was the famous flamingo fountain built by Moti in 1961 and in 1965, the statue of Citation, created by the Italian sculptor Thomas Famiglietti. In 1977 Hialeah Park was acquired by breeder and developer John J. Brunetti Sr. who dedicated himself to the preservation and restoration of the legendary racetrack. In 2001, Hialeah Park stopped hosting racing after a change in state law kept it from having exclusive dates in its competition with Gulfstream Park and Calder Race Course. Consequently, owner John Brunetti closed Hialeah Park to the public. The filly Cheeky Miss won the last thoroughbred race run at Hialeah on May 22, 2001. In 2004, the Florida Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering revoked Hialeah's thoroughbred permit because it did not hold races for the previous two years. As of 2013, its facilities remain intact except for the stables, which were demolished in early 2007. In 2006, the abandoned Hialeah Park site was considered to be a possible location for a new Florida Marlins Ballpark. On August 14, 2013, Brunetti opened a new casino at Hialeah Park in partnership with the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Future development of the park has to be weighed against ruining Hialeah Park's potential of being named a National Historic Landmark. Hialeah Park has a gothic beauty with its peeling paint, rust, and a mostly empty grandstand and clubhouse. As a history lover I had so much fun exploring this landmark that is like a trip back in time. On the first floor you can see historic photos including one of Winston Churchill during his visit and walls dedicated to famous jockey's like Woody's Wall. Here and there you can still the vestiges of grandeur that once made Hialeah Park the grand dame of racing. .

I liked the park for its scale and potential for implementation. But unfortunately, during the COVID19 period, it was not possible to fully enjoy the service, since it was empty, not even half empty Therefore, it is difficult for me to draw a conclusion and leave a rating I liked the park itself, especially the flamingos that were brought from Cuba in 1934, which became the Symbol of the lottery.

I've played poker in a lot of places, including vegas, and this is one of my favorite poker rooms. I can't say much about the rest of the casino because this is my game of choice, but I love their poker room. It sits upstairs away from everything else, and is its own entity. The cash games play big here, especially with buy ins usually about 150 BB max ($300 for 1-2). They also offer a healthy amount of 2-5, and people love PLO here as well. The chips are clean and smooth, and you can buy in from dealers, chip runners, or the cage. The high hand promotions are usually pretty solid too. Expect to hear a LOT of spanish speaking from players and staff, but don't worry, the games are almost always friendly. If you're looking for action, this is your place, and not the worst table skills i've experienced either. You can also order food which is all great as well. I'm a young guy and I do see some other young adults around my age, but it's usually middle-older aged men playing. I love the action, it can admittedly get a little crazy sometimes, but better like that than no action at all. Love this place!

We had a wonderful time here! We stopped by passing on a whim and was pleasantly surprised by the history and architecture. Not only did they welcome us newcomers we walked away with a little change! Slots are great! We we're leaving and happened to pass a manager of some sort who actually stopped and took his time welcome us and give us a brief history lesson. He explained the flamingos and the lottery symbol here and he also encouraged us to take our time and explore the old buildings. To us the casino was fun. It is non smoking which I enjoyed and the workers were pleasant and helpful. Next time I get an itch to spin a wheel this will be on my list!

I ordered the eggs Benedict / house potatoes and sweet ripe fruit.

If you haven't already tried Hialeah Park's FLAMINGO CAFE know that they have the most amazing brunch. They offer a complementary drink. One of two choices a Bloody Mary or a Mimosa. The mimosa was made with quality ingredients, and tasted really good. The food (to my surprise) was delicious, I can't wait to go back this Sunday! Prices are very reasonable. You can sit inside or outside. The waitress was very friendly. We enjoyed our breakfast while we watched our favorite horses race on a huge flat screen.

    Then and now...

It's back, baby! That's right, after a 9 year hiatus, Hialeah Park Race Track is open for business! Today's (re-)opening day festivities were fantastic, free and fun for the whole family -- and that's how it's gonna' stay. Even if you don't bet, the track has a lot to offer -- with lively music, pleasant crowds, activities for all ages and, of course, the famous flamingos in center field. The park and racetrack are registered historic landmarks dating back to the roaring 20s, when bootleggers and mafia dons rubbed elbows with famous tourists and the South Florida elite -- all in a day-and-age before Vegas shifted the gamblers' center-of-attention westward. And what's more, the Park is an iconic image of the city, from dusty postcards to the opening sequence of Miami Vice. Check it out for yourself and, if you're feeling lucky, put down a couple bucks on your favorite horse. With free admission and family fun, you're bound to come out ahead.

My husband was happy that they had some of his favorite slots. It wasn't difficult getting on most machines but there were some machines that the people on them were not leaving anytime soon. They have a Concessions area where we saw yummy looking pastries. They also have a variety of food items available and the pricing looked reasonable. We were a little hungry so we ordered a Cuban Toast which came out steaming hot! I think it was around 10 pm when we saw a server walking around with a tray full of 4 oz styrofoam cups. They were giving out complimentary chicken soup. I'm not sure if that's something that they do every night or it was a special day. We thought that was pretty cool. The staff that we encountered were all friendly. From the bartender to the Players Club representative and the servers. They have a Magic City Casino shuttle that you can take for only $5 and they'll give you $30 free play for doing that. The only downside to that would be that it takes 2 hours to get to the casino from Broward County and you're there for 4 hours. Depending on how you're doing, it could be very annoying, lol.

While "helping" me, he was staring me up and down, licking his lips, and then had the nerve to ask for my number all in front of my wife and daughter. It was humiliating, disturbing, and beyond unprofessional. I felt extremely uncomfortable and honestly violated by the way he behaved. No employee should ever act like that toward a customer, especially in front of their family. It created a very tense and upsetting situation for all of us. On top of that, when he processed the ticket voucher, the amount was incorrect. So not only was his behavior completely out of line, but he couldn't even do his job properly. This place seriously needs to reevaluate who they hire and how they train their staff. Customers should feel safe and respected not uncomfortable and disrespected. I will not be returning magic city after this experience at least the hard rock casino has way more decency!
