I have been meaning to try this place. I was worried it wouldn't be clean because the glass in the front looked dirty, but it is just weather beaten. If the owner replaced the glass and they kept it clean, that would be a huge step up for this place. Also, the black-painted flooring in the back near the restroom area was in poor repair. For about $17 or $18, I ordered an order of spicy tuna roll, an order of shrimp tempura roll, an order of shrimp and vegetable tempura--which came with four shrimps--and an order of the Hibachi Chicken, which was, in itself, two meals. It was a full container of food, rice on one side ("fried rice" but nothing like real fried rice), vegetables on the other, with lots of chicken in between. Not only that, that price included a Sweetwater Pale Ale Beer. It was unbelievable! There is no better deal in town! Granted, I did get 50% off on the sushi portion because I was there on a Sunday night. But, what a deal! The food itself was okay--slightly better than mediocre (good)--but not great or excellent. The tempura was my least favorite item, as it was extremely greasy and not traditional Japanese-style "drier" tempura coating. Also, in the spicy tuna roll, there really wasn't much tuna as much as there was a lot of sweetened sticky rice. So, overall, for the food I would give it a 3, but for value, a 5. We stocked up on drinks and sauces and the food was ready soon after. It did seem that some our food was incorrect though. We received regular hibachi shrimp instead of jumbo shrimp and hibachi steak instead of filet. The filet or steak plates also were cooked more than had been requested. I really wanted to like this place because of it's convenient location to me and the fact that I love Japanese food. However, I was left very disappointed. I ordered the hibachi noodles with chicken to go and first off, the dish was prepared very sloppily. Some of the chicken was cut into small chunks but most were huge pieces of overly dry, flavorless chicken. I did not care for the flavor of the noodles either (had almost a ketchup taste to them). I can't speak for the sushi as I'm currently unable to eat it, but unfortunately I won't be back here to try it.
