This buffet I have not been to in years so this visit was special because my Grandmother loved coming here. My son and I had lunch here last week and it was good. Nothing super special here at this buffet. Yea they had seafood but it did not look too appetizing. To me the chickens, rice and noodles were good. Don't sleep on the egg and spring rolls either. Ben LOVES this Hibachi buffet and gets a craving for it from time to time. We always try to go during lunch hours as prices are cheaper and honestly, we don't eat THAT much to make that many buffets a benefit for us financially. We both had been coming here for years, long before we knew each other. For a short time the place was sold to another company (I think) that made it into a crab shack type of restaurant but something must have happened as it came back to being a hibachi buffet. Funny enough, they kept all the seafood/crab decor up on the walls and around the place so it is kinda funny looking in there now. It is also nice that you can get your food to go and it is weighed out by the pound. Love eating here! I came for my birthday and it is my second time eating here. They have a hibachi bar that is amazing. You fill up a plate with what you want, pick your sauce(s) and they cook it fresh. There is also lots of premade foods. Awesome selection. The service at your table is also good, multiple times they pass by and check on you, refill drinks etc. The atmosphere is very nice and casual. A good place to hangout and eat lots and lots of food! We stumbled on this place by mistake. We wanted to have some noodles, rice, dumplings and fruit for the Lunar New Year and happened to be close to this place. It was clean with fresh food. The service was very pleasant and helpful. So much to choose from. The desserts, fresh fruits and hibachi ingredients were impressive for a buffet. We will definitely be back again. The whole fried fish, fried calamari, and baby octopus stood out to me. The dumpling dishes were good too. Chicken wings, chicken skewers, general tso/orange chicken were all pretty decent. The sushi was mostly lackluster, mostly variations on California rolls, although the tofu skin with seaweed salad was surprisingly good. The hibachi grill was also fairly mediocre. The beef was chewy, the shrimp were too small, and the sauces failed to shine. Also, where the heck were all the sauces? It would have been nice to see some cocktail sauce and duck sauce out somewhere...maybe I missed it...my wife came back with a little bowl of sauce she got from somewhere, but I never found it. For a Chinese buffet this place has character and some unique dishes I've never seen anywhere else! I have never seen imitation crab and shrimp wrapped in bacon together. That was pretty good and unique! I love buffets because I can sample a huge amount of things without committing. This place has a lot more seafood including fresh shrimp under ice, sushi with a decent fish to rice ratio, and mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was really good. Service was military in precision, as many of these types of places are. You set your empty plate by the end of the table and it's collected post haste. The decorum was honestly very quirky and interesting! There is a big waterfall by the front, and netting with fake fish decorate the walls. There was a lot to look at while eating! I do not drink while eating due to surgical history so when she asked Pepsi or sprite, I got an extra drink for my husband. My family and I wanted a quick Chinese bite to eat and we could not be more disappointed. We came and asked for regular water with lemon and were given water from the literal sink. When we asked to be given another water we were told that the only one they have but we told them that it didn't taste like tap water if we could please get another refill and even though we don't talk Chinese we could tell they were talking about us. A Christmas Day tradition, eating Chinese! We stopped here for the first time , had a nice Buffet and hibachi. Being Christmas Day, it was $20 a person. The food was about what you'd expect from a Chinese buffet and the interior and cleanliness were on par , tacky. Both the decor and tables . I have been eating at Hibachi Buffet at Clearwater FL (it's full, correct name) for about 9 months now for a total of 25-30 times. So, I think it's time to write a review. I ignored this place for about the first year and a half that I lived in the area until a friend recommended it to me. I really like seafood and USUALLY they have a decent selection on their buffet. Steamed Flounder, fried Shrimp, cold Shrimp, baked Salmon, and low-country boil (Crab legs, Shrimp, Crawdads, Corn on the cob and Muscles. I like Corn on the cob, Crab Legs and Shrimp.) I really like the steamed Flounder (when it's fresh). Today I stopped in after work about 6pm, height of the dinner hour, and they were about half busy. I went to the buffet and NO STEAMED FLOUNDER. O.K., it happens occasionally. I went to the low country boil pan- the corn was all shriveled up like it had been cooked several hours before and had just dried out! The Crab legs were tiny, little pieces and/or broken pieces- basically the scraps. I didn't say anything to the cashier/manager because I wanted to give Hibachi Buffet at Clearwater FL the chance to fill their trays on their own. I went to the stir-fry station and got a plate (not my favorite, but O.K.) so I had something to work on while I waited for my favorites to be replenished on the buffet. 20 minutes later I had been keeping one eye on the buffet and nothing had been re-filled. I went to the cashier/manager and mentioned the low country boil needed to be refilled, he said O.K. and continued talking on the phone. I stood next to the buffet waiting. 5 minutes later I said the same thing to the "hostess" that seats customers. She went up and told the cashier/manager- who continued to talk on the phone. Finally I said something to the lady ACTUALLY maintaining the buffet. She didn't even look at me, didn't say anything, no acknowledgment whatsoever and walked away towards the kitchen as slowly as humanly possible while still calling it walking! I continued to stand by the buffet. The cashier/manager continued to talk on the phone...and the minutes ticked by. While I was waiting, I and 2 other customers saw a teenage girl drop the rice scoop ON THE FLOOR AND THEN PICK IT UP AND PUT IT BACK INTO IT'S HOLDER FOR OTHER CUSTOMERS TO USE!!! One of the female customers who also saw this got pissed-off and she got up and carried the rice scoop and its holder to the stir fry station and gave it to the cook. Then 5 minutes later another Hibachi Buffet at Clearwater FL employee BROUGHT THE SAME SCOOP BACK TO THE RICE POT ON THE BUFFET AND PUT IT BACK FOR CUSTOMERS TO USE!!! FINALLY ABOUT HALF AN HOUR AFTER I FIRST NOTICED THE LOW COUNTRY PAN BASICALLY BEING EMPTY the kitchen employee pushed a cart of food out of the kitchen and filled 4 other food trays ONLY COMING OVER TO THE CRAB LEGS AND CORN VERY LAST KNOWING I WAS STANDING THERE WAITING. My "server/waitress" walked past my table 3 times without asking if I wanted a Pepsi refill. I finally got up and walked back to the waitress station and asked a waiter if I could get a refill. He said nothing. I waited 15 seconds and asked again. He mumbled something and motioned for me to get the Pepsi myself. No tipping tonight!!! The food at Hibachi Buffet at Clearwater FL is usually decent. The employees have never been very friendly, but tonight was a NEW LOW!!! This is the most well-run Chinese buffet in the Bay Area. Food is always fresh and an excellent selection of everything you could ever want. The servers are very efficient and keep your table clean between buffet visits. It's a definite mainstay restaurant for me. read more
