Four of us went here June 20th for dinner. We got apps (Nemo Rolls and fried oysters) to share. Both were excellent in flavor but we were all disappointed at the quantity (6 oysters about the size of a quarter) for the $20 & $18 price tags. We each ordered an entree along with a side of mashed potatoes and a side of the crispy brussel sprouts. Again, both were excellent in flavor, but $8 for a "cup" of mashed potatoes to share at the table and $12 for approximately three sprouts thinnly sliced and tossed with fried onions and bacon? Hardly shareable. My seared tuna was very good and a decent size portion but seriously? You can't serve shelled edamame? Fishing the bean pods out of the sauce to clumsily try to squirt the bean out should not be happening with a dish that is $34. We ordered a bottle of wine which we all enjoyed. My last complaint is that the restaurant was extremely warm. We all were on the verge of breaking out in a sweat. For those prices, invest in some sort of better air conditioning. The service was fine. The meal was $300 with tip, and considering everything, we feel it's not worth going back. read more

The blend of flavors is amazing. Each visit the daily special is a must have. Delicious apps, meals, sides and desserts! The sunporch allows the view of gorgeous oaks in a comfortable setting, in our cooler weather can take advantage of outdoor seating. A converted house, there is also indoor seating, a reservation is recommended for this quaint joint with fabulous flavors. If you're in the Safety Harbor area consider yourself lucky to have this gem! My wife and I found this place walking around. We stopped by to check it out and was able to enjoy the bar for a drink and an appetizer. The staff was very friendly and we were and to make brunch reservations for our family. They have a patio that seat big parties and luckily the weather was perfect in November. One of the best shrimp and grits I've ever had and the homemade waffles surely beat out Disney's Mickey mouse waffles (and that says a lot). If you like bloody Marys and sangrias Maker 39 makes them perfectly. Definitely put this on your list to try out! We'll definitely be back once we are in town. read more

One of our go to restaurants in Safety Harbor! Chef Justin is an incredibly talented chef with the ability to blend flavors that transport you straight to paradise. We always start with the Nemo Rolls, which are perfectly delicate and bursting with fresh, vibrant ingredients. My favorite entree is the tuna, but you cannot go wrong with any of the dishes on the menu. When the weather is right, the outdoor patio is perfect, but there are also tables inside - both areas are cozy and inviting. We have been here several times, as we are new residents of Safety Harbor. The food and service are all amazing. My wife is allergic to shellfish and always requests a 'custom' blackened fish with sautéed vegetables. They have their A++ game. Last awesome just perfectly, the batter is light not overwhelming in anyway. It's all about the shrimp and the sauce. We had a marketplace salad as well, darn it was good. Went to Marker 39 on a Friday night w/ a 7 p.m. reservation. It's an adorable space that makes you feel right at home and comfortable. Our server, Jenna, was incredibly friendly and had great recommendations for our dinner. My husband and I both ordered the special of the night for the appetizer, which was the mushroom bisque - super creamy and delicious. The flavors were outstanding! We also ordered the Conch Wonton, which was super crispy and fresh - a great way to start off the meal. For our entrees, my husband ordered the short ribs - they were flavorful, but the beef was slightly dry. I ordered the Cuban Pork Crisis which was enormous and so beautifully plated! The pork was tasty and the overall, this was a stellar dish - a minor critique, but the dish could have been "wetter" - perhaps adding a mojo would have done the trick to make this less dry, but again, this is a small critique - it was great! We ordered a side of the malt salt shoestring fries...and they were one of the most delicious things I have ever tasted in my existence - I could eat these every day and never get tired of them! For drinks, I ordered a glass of the housemade sangria - very good. This is a family-owned business and they put a lot of care into what they are doing and you feel/see that in every element of the meal and the space. I highly recommend! Total for dinner was $112 w/out tip, which included (2) alcoholic beverages, (2) apps, and (2) entrees - fair price for the great food that we ate. read more

I took a chance as a single diner walk-in on a Saturday, and was seated promptly. I came in knowing I wanted the jerk chicken confit, which was terrific--not particularly spicy, but full of flavor, served in a mix of sweet potato hash, greens, and roasted corn, drizzled with a smoked plum sauce. The waiter helped guide me to a glass of albariño wine, a Spanish variety of dry white I'd never tried before, which went well with the meal. Their dessert menu left me in a quandary between several choices; I went with the key lime "dessert of the day," a light mousse with rum-soaked dried cranberries. This is a small special venue just across from the Paradise eatery. If you want a very different seafood experience,you come to Marker 39 where Chef Justin is living his dream of special fish entrees and variations. The background music is sublime and on a warm night on the deck or inside,you are treated like a friend not a guest. Justin comes out when he can to see how you like your orders. Just finished brunch at Marker 39 Restaurant and boy was my party and I impressed! Sooooo good!!! And great prices! I am sad it took me so long to make it here but I'm glad I finally did and can't wait to make it back. The food was amazing and the service was wonderful. This is a hidden gem! We had brunch here today and it was - hands down - one of the best meals I've had in Safety Harbor. I had the crabcake Benedict. The sriracha hollandaise is not very spicy, but it has a really nice flavor. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked and nice and runny when you break them open. I was able to switch out the sweet potato mash for the cheddar grits and as a Southerner, I have to say they were also cooked perfectly. Also had the Cafe con Leche and it was really good coffee. They have a small parking lot right off of 2nd St N, but we easily found parking along the street as well. It was easy to make a reservation through their website and then they call back to confirm. My only negative feedback is the wait time. It was pretty slow to get our drinks, slow to get our food, and slow to finish up our checks. But the service otherwise was really good because they're very nice people so keep in mind that you'll be on Caribbean time, lol. read more

Located in a quiet part of the downtown scene of Safety Harbor, Marker 39 is small, quaint and intimate. The service is well-trained, disciplined and friendly. We sat outside on their patio on an unusually warm night in February in Florida. There were a good number of patrons enjoying their dinner and company. All in all, this is a nice place to visit. I ordered the mahi mahi dish and it came out within 10 minutes of ordering and the presentation was very nice and colorful. The smell of the dish was not strong nor did it have a Caribbean sense that I could relate to. The flavor was ordinary, nothing bad but nothing that stood out as well. I guess I was expecting more based on the reviews and online photos and even the cost. I was a bit underwhelmed. My wife and our friends also felt the same. Nice place to visit though. read more

We're from NYC and as a couple for the last couple of decades, my guy and I went out to a top restaurant for dinner to celebrate birthdays, holidays, and just to go out on a date. We are foodies, and NYC is rich with fantastically good restaurants. We moved to Clearwater a year and a half ago, and we agree that Market 39's food is truly great. So many of the dishes we've had there (after discovering it, we've come back again and again!) are just head and shoulders above the other restaurants we've been to in the Tampa Bay Area. We're new to Floribbean cuisine, but since we love travelling to the Caribbean so we were curious what it would be like. We both love it. Kudos to the chef and to the kitchen staff! (You can buy all the kitchen staff a round of beer for $10; we just noticed that on the menu the last time we were there. Richly deserved! We also love sitting in the beautiful, shady garden. We bring our beloved furry beast with us, a Belgian shepherd who loves going out to eat (he's very social!), and they have a lovely bowl of chicken for the beasties. We love Marker 39! read more

Waitress asked if we were going to a show or had any time constraints which we liked given we planned to do the bioluminescence kayak tour after dinner. We started with Nemo Balls, Calamari, and the Big Ass Bahamian Conch Wonton for an appetizer. We had the Tamarind-Guava BBQ Short Ribs, Pan Seared Mahi Mahi, and the Cuban Pork Crisis. Everything was seasoned, flavored well, and cooked perfectly. We moaned throughout the meal with each fork full, yes, moaned cause it was THAT delicious. Marker 39 is a rare gem in the Tampa Bay area! If you are going to be in Safety Harbor, you need to check it out. The ingredients are so fresh and the flavors unexpected and complex. The Nemo roll was the perfect bite of salty, sweet, crunchy, and pickled with a touch of heat. The grouper special needs to be a regular on the menu- as a foodie - the word that came to mind on the first bite was not PG enough for this review. It was THAT good. I strongly encourage you to save room for the Key Lime creation. I didn't, but I got to taste a little bite and it was the equivalent of a sweet, tart cloud. Sublime. Delicious food served as if you are eating at someone's home. My sister is a major foodie who travels extensively internationally and resides in Los Angeles. How's that for pressure to choose a great restaurant when she is visiting? I really racked my brain trying to decide what we did better than LA. I finally decided that Florida should do Florida cuisine best (and prayed that this was the case.) Luckily, Marker 39 delivered. Honestly, I have a very hard time critiquing the dishes. Eating here feels like going to a friend's house and being served a meal. The owner is also the chef! I wouldn't go to a friend's house and tell her that her chicken is overcooked. Therefore, even though there were one or two things I would change about the dish, I feel like that is personal preference and I can see how someone else might enjoy it the way it is. Overall, everything was amazing. We got the Nemo Roll, Calamari (which was a special), the BBQ Beef Short Ribs, and the Cuban Pork Crisis. Everyone comments on the Nemo Roll - it is just as good as people say. I would say this is exactly the type of dish Chrissy Teigen (goddess) eats. It is healthy and it seems to be good for you! I thought the calamari was well done - perfectly lightly fried. I didn't really care for the sauce it came with, but it was delicious enough on its own. The short ribs are melt in your mouth. I thought the sauce was a little heavy handed, mainly because the meat was so good that it could stand on its own. I didn't try the pork since I'm Jewish, but my sister said it was delicious. The atmosphere is lovely. It has a tropical, warm feeling to it. It is in a small house so make sure you make reservations so you are guaranteed a seat. There is an outside patio that will be wonderful to sit at when it's cooler. The parking lot is small so it is hard to navigate. Luckily, there is tons of free parking in Safety Harbor. I would highly recommend visiting this place. This is a must for when I have out of town guests. read more
