First time coming here and so glad we did. Service was excellent. Food was fresh, hot and delicious. We ordered the chicken tempura roll, shrimp tempura, rock shrimp, chicken hibachi, clear soup, teriyaki chicken, snow mountain roll, house salad, harumaki rolls, chicken gyoza and udon noodles with chicken, shrimp and steak. Everything was so good and cooked perfectly. It was busy but plenty of clean seating inside. Nothing was greasy. Parking can be hard due to small lot. Owners were super nice and very helpful. Dipping sauces some dishes came with were very tasty. They are closed the 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month. Definitely recommended!

Food was delicious. The hibachi was seasoned especially well. The sushi was also very good. Everything pictured for $55 for a birthday dinner with a friend but probably will stick to Only one or two items for lunch.

My boss treated us for my birthday. I also ordered clear soup, crab ragoons and dumplings. I was very impressed by the steak. It was so juicy and tender. I'm currently on the office couch letting it settle. I decided I was going to stuff my face too much. It was worth it though. The only thing I could ask for improvement on is more mushrooms v and onions in the soup.

Bendoya is a nice little restaurant located off of University near Memorial Hospital. They serve reasonably priced Japanese / Chinese food along with specialty items such as boba, a rare find for this restaurant as I've mentally categorized it as a takee outee. However they do have plenty of chairs and tables as well as booths if you prefer to dine in. The restaurant itself is very clean. I love all of the labeled food picture decor on the windows and walls because it makes decision making so much easier when you have no idea what you're in the mood for. I was greeted by friendly faces. I always appreciate friendliness (who doesn't). I'm very big on customer service and they definitely get 5 stars for that. I ordered a Bento box hibachi steak but instead got the lunch special hibachi steak. Luckily, I wasn't very hungry so I'm a little grateful they got my order wrong, otherwise it may have been too much food for me. The steak is pretty good. It doesn't have that wow factor but the texture was great and it was quite juicy. Everything is made in front of you! I had carrots and broccoli on the side, seemed like they were just steamed fresh. I'm a huge carrot snoot because I feel like everyone should have Wasabi's sweet carrots. The carrots I had were quite boring and healthy lol. Which means no salt or seasoning whatsoever. No complaints though, I always have shrimp sauce on the side to drench my food in. I do love my shrimp sauce. I think this place has a lot of potential. I love the layout and their food is good. I highly recommend if you are craving take out and want something substantially better than reheated fried rice and MSG-filled lo mein. This place definitely doesn't compare to Japanese steak houses but I find that they do a nice job of providing quick, high quality food.

Located at the old Baldinos subs spot - I really miss those subs. I think the quality was just too much to keep up with and they just couldn't reach that level of traffic needed to turn a profit. If you never ate there, trust me when I say you missed out. Something else moved in after Baldinos but I never had a chance to try those subs. Next thing you know, it's now Bendoya. I read good things about the ramen so that's what I came to try. I opted for the roast pork soy ramen and it was very good. One of the standard items included bok choy which sometimes costs extra at other joints so that's definitely cool. Flavor profile was good, protein size was ample, and egg was cooked perfectly. It's counter service with an open kitchen so you can pretty much see what's going on behind the scenes. I'll definitely be back to try other items on the menu.

I had a couple people recommend this place and I finally tried it for lunch last week and was hooked went back this past weekend and ordered takeout for the family. Very tasty and food was very fresh.

This place is awesome. They have great food every time I go. Their hibachi steak is super yummy and their chicken is almost as good but awesome none the less. They don't have much seating or parking but it's ok. I just get mine to go. Oh they even have bento boxes with sushi in it and hibachi steak! I recommend this as a must try!

Wish this place was closer to me!!! Great place to grab very good, quick, to go hibachi. Price is great especially for the portion. Bought food several times from here otw to a friends house and have never been disappointed. If you call in an order it's made quick and correct. If I had any complaint, it would be I tried the tuna roll and was unimpressed.I'm so sorry this photo is terrible and doesn't do it any justice but I will update next time with a better one.

Hole in the wall with great hibachi. I highly recommend when you are craving some teriyaki chicken and fried rice with mixed vegetables. Quick service. Wonderful lunch special everyday!

I ate both in bites of broth and on my bao. I've had a better bao but seriously nothing to complain about here. The chicken was well seasoned, not dry but not juicy. The broth was not as spicy as I would have liked. The ramen noodles were acceptable. I'm definitely headed back for the omurice! Can't wait! Not sure why all my menu photos didn't show up. A Delicious Experience at Modu Ramen!…read more We recently had the pleasure of dining at Modu Ramen on Baymeadows Road, and what a wonderful experience from beginning to end! One of the highlights of our visit was getting to meet Chef Kim, who came out personally to speak with us and walk us through the menu. He took the time to explain the different dishes, flavors, and ingredients, which made the experience feel so much more personal. You can truly feel the passion he has for what he creates. ‍ And a big shoutout to Christian, who took such great care of us throughout our meal. The service was attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. It made us feel right at home. We started with the Vegetable Gyoza and Corn Croquettes -- both were delicious and the perfect way to kick off the meal. For ramen, we had several different bowls so we could experience a little bit of everything: Beef Bulgogi Ramen -- tender beef bulgogi with chicken broth, a soft egg, Naruto, and bok choy. One thing I really appreciated is that if you don't eat pork, you can substitute the broth, making it easier to find something that works for your preferences. Curry Tonkotsu Ramen -- rich, flavorful curry broth with chicken, mushrooms, and corn. So comforting and packed with flavor! Vegetable Curry Ramen -- a delicious option for veggie lovers, with that wonderful curry flavor and plenty of satisfying ingredients. Of course, we couldn't stop at the food! Mango Sake -- fruity, refreshing, and such a fun pairing with the meal. Butterscotch Latte -- sweet, creamy, and absolutely delicious. A perfect little treat alongside dinner. And then came dessert... and this was definitely something special! Mango Bingsu -- light, refreshing, and full of mango flavor. Tiramisu Bingsu -- such a fun twist on traditional tiramisu! Creamy, indulgent, and the perfect way to end the meal. What I loved most about Modu Ramen was that it wasn't just about having a good bowl of ramen. It was the whole experience -- the welcoming atmosphere, Chef Kim taking the time to personally explain the menu, Christian's wonderful service, and all the different flavors coming together to make the meal memorable. If you're looking for a place to enjoy comforting ramen, creative dishes, and genuinely warm hospitality, Modu Ramen is definitely worth adding to your Jacksonville dining list! This was easily one of the best ramen experiences I've had in Jacksonville. The flavors were so authentic that with every bite, I felt like my taste buds were taking a trip back to Japan. I loved that the ramen is customizable. You can choose vegetable, chicken, or pork broth, adjust the spice level, and select from different curry and spice options. This makes it easy to create a bowl exactly the way you like it. We tried the Vegetable Gyoza, Corn Croquettes, Beef Bulgogi Ramen with chicken broth, soft egg, naruto and bok choy, Curry Tonkotsu with chicken, mushrooms and corn, and Vegetable Curry Ramen. Every dish was flavorful, and the portions were generous and hearty. The Beef Bulgogi Ramen was a standout for me, with an amazing combination of Japanese and Korean flavors. The curry ramen had a wonderful depth and authentic spice. The broths are incredibly rich and flavorful, and you can substitute the broth if you don't eat pork. I've had similar styles of ramen in Japan, and Modu Ramen really brought back those flavors. The spice, depth of flavor and overall authenticity were outstanding. My taste buds were honestly in food-flavor nirvana! And I have to mention the Mango Sake--my favorite drink of the evening! We also enjoyed the Butterscotch Latte. For dessert, we finished with Mango Bingsu and Tiramisu Bingsu, both delicious and a refreshing way to end such a flavorful meal. Chef Kim was amazing and personally came out to talk with us about the menu and the dishes. You can tell he takes great pride in what he creates. Christian provided excellent service--friendly, attentive and quick. Modu Ramen isn't just another ramen restaurant. The combination of authentic flavors, customizable bowls, generous portions and Korean-Japanese influences makes this place special. If you're looking for some of the best ramen and authentic Japanese flavors in Jacksonville, Modu Ramen should definitely be on your list.

Without exaggeration, this was a life-changing ramen. The best ramen that I've had in my life!! The torched egg was genius and added a beautiful texture to the rich, and flavorful broth. Instead I went with the pork fried dumplings and the Taiwanrse sausage. The dumplings were very average: not bad flavor but they had a flavor and were uniform in a way that suggested they came right out of a bag from the freezer. There are much better and fresher dumplings to be had in Jacksonville. The sausage, however, was quite good. It was taught, porky, and had notes of five spice & maybe cinnamon. It further reinforced my view that meat always tastes best when served on a stick! It helped bring in the final score two three stars, making up for poor service and mediocre dumplings.
