While visiting Jacksonville, Florida in November for a work trip, my coworkers and I stopped by on our lunch break as I suggested we try. Yelp had suggested this place and based off both reviews and photos, I had a feeling this place would be good! Happy to report, this place is quaint, cozy, and complete with both good eats and excellent service. The Vegetable Miso Ramen had a rich, flavorful broth that I enjoyed greatly. I love the ability to be able to order a half marinated egg as that is just what this ramen needed. All four of us enjoyed what we ordered and even the coworker who has never had Japanese food found something she liked. Love showing others new cuisines. We all left saying we would return. The only spot I know so far in JAX that does omurice. I LOVE OMURICE and theirs is so comforting. Its really flavorful and presentation is so cute. They open the egg and pour the sauce in front of you hehe. Love the decor and booths here. Its "private" booths haha. I say "private" because I could still hear the booths behind us converse but its not bothersome at all just pointing it out The server was so friendly and attentive. The food came out fast. We ordered Ramen to go, and it was hot and delicious! The packaging has the broth below and the noodles suspended in a cup that keeps it separate until you're ready to mix them together. If you would like a private booth, be sure to make a reservation. I made mine through yelp. You'll get privacy, but you will hear the people in the booths next to you. You can press the button to summon your waiter when you anything. They were very attentive and the service was very friendly and efficient. Bring a big appetite as the ramen bowls are HUGE. I ordered the vegetable miso ramen with vegetable broth. If you need verification which items are vegetarian , the online menu states it. The menu in the restaurant does not. I had the amazing lemonade which was the perfect amount of tart and not overly sweet. The matcha tiramisu was a delightful creamy dessert that was also not overly sweet for those of us without a big sweet tooth. read more

Super cute ambiance/decor! Transports you straight to Kyoto Japan with a wall of wooden notes when you first arrive and separate concealed tables/booths. The service was great but food was mediocre. I have gotten ramen here before and it was decent but not the best in Jacksonville (go to Umami for the best). I decided to try the Honeybee platter and less than 50% of the items were good. The best was the edamame, perfectly seasoned with sesame oil and a spicy salty seasoning. The shrimp tempura had too much batter. The tamago (sushi egg) was watery like it had been frozen and just defrosted. Then there were two not so tasty cold scallops next to the seaweed salad. Definitely won't order this again. The private little room you are seated at was just like some places I ate at in Japan. You push a button on the wall anytime you need service. Once you do that. This spot is one of my family's all-time favorites for ramen, but this time I switched it up and ordered the Omu Rice with Pork Tonkatsu and Demi-Glacé--WOW. Absolutely delicious! I could eat this all day, every day. The demi-glacé is the star of the dish, bringing everything together in perfect harmony. I was stuffed and still had leftovers to take home. This place is amazing. Food is delicious. I get the Curry ramen with the pork. The lunch special comes with a side and a drink. I've gotten both the gyoza and bao bun thing. It would be hard to choose which one was better. We went for my birthday and I got the Thai tea, bao bun and curry ramen. All were amazing. My husband grew up in Japan and he says this is his favorite ramen place. He got the Mega ramen and octopus balls. I am not that adventurous, but he said both were excellent and he will get both again! Service is always impeccable, fast, and the place has little private booths. Had no idea this place has been in business a few years. I thought it was a new establishment. Two of us popped in around 5:30 6pm on a Friday night. Pretty busy but we're seated right away. When you walk in there is a 'self sign in kiosk'. Since only the two of us we could sit at a smallish table for two. There is a ramen bar to sit at or private booths. Cute decor. Staff was nice, we had three different waiters asking to take our order. We shared an appetizer of deep fried gyoza and the honey comb appetizer- both were tasty. My main was the tonkatsu ramen white garlic and my son had the krab rice burger which is served with gloves- it is messy. This 'rice burger' is like a spider crab roll. He could only eat half of it. We probably didn't need the two apps. We both had ice water and with 18% tip I think our bill was $69. I would definitely go back. Try something else off the menu and hope to snag a private booth. First time trying Omurice, it def looked beautiful! The taste was interesting almost reminded me of my childhood, I just don't know what I was expecting for the taste. The ramen was good- I've also just realized that I think ramen is my least favorite broth/noodle when compared to pho or udon. Again this is more of my personal preference but it was still great! From the atmosphere to the food, this place is phenomenal. I have visited multiple times and have yet to have a bad experience. The lunch specials are amazing, and I still think about a limited-time strawberry drink they had for Valentine's Day a couple of years ago -- it was so delicious I still dream about it to this day. If there's a good Ramen spot I'm there. This spots good and they have decent menu. The Ramen is 7 out of 10, its good but the noodles and broth seem to be missing something. You can tell when the noodles authentic which here it isn't. Decent seating areas, Japanese decor is really nice here. Great Ramen places to try Karai Ramen and Umami Curry and Ramen. The staff here was super accommodating and polite, and they made a really great experience for my two year-old while we were having dinner catching up with old friends really enjoyed it and the food was delicious. We had the Ramen and some spring rolls and the omurice. Time iced tea that we got was really great. I'm super happy that I'm able to change the sugar amount in there because I don't like my tea overly sweet and I really enjoyed the overall atmosphere. My friend who had been there before stated that the menu changes all the time, allowing for fresh and refreshed dishes for people who want to check out something new, but still have something dependable. We had a private booth with a privacy curtain so our party of 6 felt like we were the only ones in the restaurant which was a nice touch. The menu is very extensive so you are guaranteed to find something for each person in your party. The restaurant is very clean and has private booths with a panel on the wall to notify wait staff when you need something. We started with veggie spring rolls which were hot, crispy and delicious. Wow, I think you should visit here if you just want a cool dining experience. But if you also like Ramen, you are going to be doubly blessed. Request one of the booths, they are private with curtains and bamboo walls. (My wife joked that we should come back on date night for a make out session and one of my kids immediately said that made them lose their appetite. ). You can also scan the bar code for a online menu, but most important - DON'T FORGET TO PRESS THE CALL BUTTON when you are ready to order. If not, they eventually will come, but the call button speeds things up. But you really want to hear about is the food. I'm not gonna give you details, but I can tell you that the three times I've been the menu has changed. They've added items, some Boba tea, and the Ramen is really stellar. I've been to restaurants in LA where you're behind a curtain protecting you if you're a celebrity. Should have known when the food came out so fast. Me and my wife got the ramen combo #1 and #4 with fried chicken and katsu on the side. Fried chicken and #1 ramen had a strong herbal taste from what I'm guessing Thai basil? Katsu had no flavor whatsoever. The pork bao was actually pretty good, wished it had more sauce with it. Been wanting to come here for a while now and finally got the chance when I was in the area one day. We got here around 5 or so on a Saturday and were seated right away. We ordered a ramen and omurice, which I was super stoked to try. The process of cutting open the omurice is very instagrammable and fun to watch. The omurice came with a drink, I chose the Thai iced tea. Everything was super delicious, even the jelly dessert that we ended up getting. Also the service was spectacular, everyone was so nice and quick to attend to us. When I had trouble deciding what sauce I wanted with my omurice, our waitress offered to provide both on the side! I've been to this restaurant twice before with my husband and never had an issue, but this visit was really strange. We came as a group of three and all ordered the exact same thing, but my husband and his friend were served first. The servers were oddly strict about which plate went to who, even though all the meals were identical. They kept telling me they were "still waiting on mine," and it didn't come out until about 20 minutes later. By that time, my husband and his friend had already finished eating. When my food finally arrived, it was ice cold. To make things more uncomfortable, my husband's friend asked for water and they brought one for my husband too (even though he didn't ask) but none for me. I love this restaurant! the atmosphere is wonderful & very traditional, especially when you get a booth table which is totally private and even has little curtains! their ramen is fantastic- I recommend the tonkatsu with white garlic or the miso. They do have an option to make it like a combo with a pork belly bao bun and either a Thai tea or lemonade. I prefer soda and if you ask they might allow that as a substitution. The service is also very good, they even have a little button at the table I believe that you can press if you need them. Looking to spice things up, we decided to finally hit up that Ramen spot that opened up right by our apartment! Going inside, the restaurant had a neat, classical yet modern wooden Japanese interior. As for lunch, we decided to split some different items across the table (thai milk teas, Tokyo tonkotsu black garlic ramen, pork baos, and classic omirice)! Going into my review, it's been a while since I've been to a spot that I've truly raved about, but everything was surprisingly very good! The Thai tea had a nice fragrant brewed base, just the right amount of cream and sweetness! The bao bun super was fresh, had a creamy spicy mayo, and very tender shredded pork! Not a big fan of corn in Ramen, but I felt it worked with the savory pork broth and other condiments; cha su was very tender and egg creamy! The omirice had very soft and creamy egg topped with well seasoned fried rice; the demi glaze tasted more like a gravy than glaze, but it paired well! Service moreover was attentive and friendly. Much needed update to the Baymeadows area! I've been to the location in Flushing and I think the food and service are better than what I received in NYC. The has a lot of nice wooden details and the booths have curtains to offer your group privacy while you dine. Each booth has a call button to alert your server whenever you need them. The food definitely is made for more of a mass appeal/palate so don't expect incredible depth, but it's pretty solid for a chain. Our table tried the omurice with both curry and classic sauce. You can also add pork tonkatsu to the omurice. The garlic edamame is also good to share. I got a ramen combo with my husband which came with 2 bowls of ramen (Kyushu Tonkotsu Shio and Sapporo Miso), the popcorn chicken appetizer and two desserts. Popcorn chicken could have been crispier but the chicken itself was moist. Ramens are filling and the pork chashu is tender. The desserts were a nice finish with the cherry blossom "rain drop" jelly being very refreshing and the matcha red bean pudding was not too sweet. read more

I really like Kyuramen. We've gone there several times over the years, and I am surprised I never wrote a review for them. There are several factors that makes this place one of my go-to restaurants. Their ramen is good (not blow your socks away good, but good), they have really delicious popcorn chicken, they have omirice (which is something you don't see in a typical Japanese restaurant in Jacksonville), they have these private booths with curtains, and they have a call button so you don't feel like you need to chase someone down.
