I has been a while since the previous visit. Our kids just went through a long day swim meet in Katy, my wife and I decide to find somewhere cheap that can fill everyone up. When we arrived, it was jam packed. Food is not great, when we went it was the end of February, they just started serving crawfish, size is decent but you can tell they are not fresh, the heads are all black. They serve lots of different cuisines, I tried a few and rarely there is a dish made me want to go back and try it again. The reason why I still see a glimpse of hope is the service, our plates are regularly cleared out every time we leave our seats. The Mongolian hibachi grill is also great, beats everything pre-cooked. I would rank this place lower than E-Star or King Palace, I understand what I'm walking into but seriously, they need to get their basics right. read more

Although I do think Hibachi has one of the better chinese buffets, the margin isn't by a lot. My favorite is the Hibachi station where you're able to choose from the assortment of items for them to cook for you! The servers are amazing and sweet and everything is usually clean. However, the quality got worse over the years and the sushi has a weird and fishy aroma to it. Most of the options are replaced with fried food. It's better than others though. I've been to a few Chinese Buffets around town, and Hibachi Grill is a great middle of the road option. It's not a horror show but it's also not the finest buffet experience you'll ever have. It works. They have a large selection of what you'd expect, plus a few surprises, like a handful of dim sum options, generic sushi and sashimi, and even like the name of the place implies, a hibachi grill where you can order your ingredients and watch them get cooked on the spot for you. Overall, the food was fine, but not something I would rave about. The food stations were clean, I never felt uneasy about eating anything, and left absolutely stuffed. Some of the better crawfish compared to other buffets. They are constantly bringing out fresh food and keeping the trays filled, even towards the end of the night vs other buffets that completely shut down and leave your options limited if you come in late. I was in this side of town today, so i stopped by this place again for lunch. Same as last time i visited this place, good food, nice service. I am glad all the construction that was going on around this location, has been completed and there isn't any more going on for now, making access and egress a lot easier. Still haven't gotten around to trying the hibachi or pho that they serve, however I did find the hidden corner, where they keep and serve the ice cream cups, I didn't know about them last time. This is one of the better Chinese Buffets in Houston. We were quite pleased with the variety. There's the usual Chinese food, but there's also a Hibachi grill and sushi/sashimi. There's even Dim Sum. Here's your chance to try Chicken Feet! Prices are very reasonable at $13.49, especially for weekday lunches. There were a lot of people around Friday lunchtime. Service and ambiance is quite typical for this type of place. The staff was quite prompt in removing the empty plates once we're done. As a fan of buffets in my prime eating/fattening days, I frequented many across the Houston area and judged it based on its selections, quality, and value. This was a very popular spot and remains one of the better selections in the area. Variety is the spice of life, as they say, and Hibachi not only offers the standard Mongolian grill option but a full sushi bar with Sashimi (can be hit or miss and definitely consume at your peril), a dim sum area with chicken feet/ribs/dumplings (not bad actually), and full self-served ice cream bar (this was better pre-pandemic as the quality of the ice-cream has dropped as they switch to individual cups). There are also some expensive options like crab legs, steak, fish, and the underrated crawfish in my opinion. Overall I would rate it fairly well based on the selections and value. (even better if you're looking to bulk up and prefers Quantity over quality) There have been several price increases due to inflation over the years but for $17.99 (weeknights) and $18.99 (weekends) at the time of this review, it's still not a bad price for a buffet of this caliber. read more

An average Asian buffet. There is a jalapeño favor throughout some of the Chinese dishes that shouldn't be there. The made-to-order grill is a good stir-fry. The sashimi is fresh. Second time here... first time was about a year ago. This has been the only buffet I have been to in Houston so I don't have much to compare to in the area. The buffet is a nice size with lots of options, sushi bar and hibachi. The sushi was my go to as everything else was greasy and lacked serious flavor. Even the hibachi. There is no added sauces just the garlic or whatever is put on the plate when you hand it over. A real sad moment for me was finding the Chinese donuts but with no sugar on them. SCAM ALERT. They charge you DINNER PRICE at 3:30 pm on a weekday. Every other restaurant has always charged lunch prices at this time, since the beginning of time. Hibachi Grease Buffet posts the dinner times in very small print on the side wall at the entrance foyer, but they do not post them ANYWHERE inside the restaurant, and they do not post them on your table. They know they are scamming you, that's why you won't see dinner times anywhere inside their grease pit restaurant. RIP OFF: so you might expect to pay lunch price at 3:30 pm on a weekday, but you will be billed dinner price. They know this is a lowly shameful scam, and they did not care that I was surprised, because they are trying to cheat us out of just a few bucks. Our so-called waitress was also rude the whole time we were there, but I tipped her anyway. There are other Chinese buffets where the staff are super friendly and appreciative, and happy because they work for a legit business with happy customers. My former go to for Hibachi was Toykohanna and they have been closed since Harvey hit the city. Overall, it was a 2.5-3 star experience. We went Friday evening, and although the food was fresh, it wasn't that great. The crawfish was bad, even when piping hot. The hibachi was a huge disappointment, especially for the wait, no amount of salt or soy sauce could bring life back into it. I will say the fried crab legs and shrimp were the most consistent item, and were delicious. Everything else was hit or miss or just miss. The food was actually pretty bland. My family and I frequented this place regularly years ago when we lived in the townhomes behind it and it was one of our favs. It was always crowded and food was always fresh and had great flavor. We've moved since and went back tonight for the first time in a couple of years and the quality and flavor is not what it was. Cocktail sauce for shrimp was ruined by a spice that tasted like curry or tumeric; neither belong in a shrimp cocktail sauce. Chicken skewers also had a curry or tumeric flavor. I normally don't like buffets however this restaurant is an exception. The restaurant is huge, and had private rooms for events. The buffet has a fresh Hibachi grill and over 100 + items on their menu daily that goes beyond Chinese fare. There's sushi, sashimi, dim sum, seafood, soups, seasonal crawfish, salad bar and even a chocolate fountain for ice cream. Monday thru Friday it's $13.69 and weekends it's a $1 more. I have seen the chefs replace and replenish the food often. The restrooms are clean and service is very quick. A word of caution, don't come at 9pm to eat unless you eat quickly. They shut down the restaurant around 9:40pm - 9:45pm and waiters will come by and try to tell you they're closed. They will stare you down until you leave. read more
