I dined there on a Saturday night, enjoyed my dinner but when I received my check in the amount of $21 and change, they had added a charge of $2.56 listed as a tip. I left a $20 bill on the table. They chased me out the door as I was leaving and said I owed them additional money plus a tip. I told them I was not giving them a tip that size because I waited on myself (being the restaurant is a buffet). They then told me the $2.56 entry was because I had dined in the restaurant longer than 90 minutes and they charge a 15% fee for the 90 minutes. They have a sign posted at the register which is not seen unless you go to the counter to check out. The sign is not posted in location that you see it when you enter the establishment so you wil not stay longer the alotted time limit. Their table check says to pay the server at your table. This is so people will not see this notice and will pay that fee without realizing what is happening. DON'T EAT THERE UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING EAT IN A HURRY OR PAY THE ADDED 90 MINUTE FEE!!! I used to like it but our relationship is over. I went on a weekend and it was crowded but the staff replenished the trays quickly. However, some items getting replenished already tasted like they had been somewhere else for a while. I hate posting this review. I hate the fact that this was one of my favorite Chinese restaurants, one that I've sent or brought many friends to, and today I decided I probably won't ever go back. It's my birthday today and invited some of my friends to join us for lunch. When I walked in, and asked for a table for 8, they asked me, quite unusually, would we be paying together? Never been asked that before here, but I told them it would be two parties of four. The hostess then directed me to the cashier to prepay - tip and all. Been here many times, same split of people, never done this before. I found this all a bit odd, but went along. After paying, I was then told I had to wear an orange wrist band. What? Why? To prove you paid. At this point I was unhappy, but again went along. After finally getting to our table, the waitress asked for our receipt - which I hadn't been given. If you need see the receipt, why do I need to wear this orange band while I eat? You need both. This is getting ridiculous. Finally I asked to speak to a manager. I explained how I'm a regular here, and maybe they didn't understand, but they were making me feel very unwelcome. I like this place, and they are making me feel like I can't be trusted. I haven't even seen food yet, and I feel like you don't appreciate my business. As we are talking, I'm looking around and I see tables of 8, 10, 12 - no orange bands. Unfortunately, the manager didn't really care and kept reiterating their policy. I explained again that I understood their policy, but he needs to understand how unwelcoming it is and how it makes his customer feel. It makes me feel like not coming back. Nothing. Eh nothing really special. My husband and I love a great Chinese buffet and our go-to is located in Durham. We wanted to stay local and we're always on Capital Blvd, so we decided to give it a try. The decor is nice and the staff is friendly. But the food... I don't know if it's a weeknight thing, but there was little to nothing on the buffet. They have at least 9 stations and only 4 of them were "full". There wasn't much variety although the sesame chicken was very good. The bill came and it was $40 for two of us without a tip.
