This place is definitely a hidden gem! I wasn't expecting much based on the appearance of the store. I visited this place on a Saturday evening. They were really busy but the staffs were able to handle the phone orders and walk-in orders in a jiffy. I order the special family dinner - D1 which comes with 2 pops, 4 spring rolls, teriyaki chicken, steak and shrimp and miso soup for $24.99. My order arrived pretty quick and the portion size was more than enough for two people. For the price and portion size, I think it's definitely worth it. It reminds me of a upscale food court vibe. I will be coming back and trying other food items on the menu! I can't wait. Note: there are no seatings inside so make sure you find another spot to enjoy your food. Also, they only take cash or debit.

We ordered the lunch special for $7.99 which includes selected entree, drink, and vegatables (zucchini, onions and carrots) I was disappointed by the meal this time. 99% onions. Who eats this many onions? No one! The owners were either bring cheap or trying to get rid of onions. Either way I won't likely return. We ordered the chicken teriyaki and chicken and beef skewer combo. Meat flavour is good but when factoring in portion size and the onions, I'll pass.

4/5 stars. This is the place to go to if you're looking for decently priced, decently portioned Chinese fast food. Honestly didn't know what to expect given the name. I really thought a teppanyaki place but it's more like a fast food Chinese place. While the menu may seem limited in selection the dishes we ordered were pretty good. I got the short rib with rice (no veggies) and Steak/shrimp rice combo. The hibachi short ribs ($13.50) are amazing. It was so tender and flavourful. And there's a decent portion that you get for the price you pay. It also came with like a sweet beef kinda sauce? That was nice and tasty. The rice seemed to be a soy sauce fried rice. Nicely well done and not too oily. The steak and shrimp combo ($13.30) was lacking a bit of flavour, but it came with a aioli type sauce and hot sauce. Same rice and the vegetables were aplenty. Carrot, broccoli, onion and mushroom, all slightly sautéed in butter. The lady was extremely pleasant and the customer service was good. I look forward to coming back here again.

Yes!! If you are in the area, this is the place to go for some amazing food! It looks small and the plaza looks really non engaging but I always say, never judge a gem by where it's buried! ;) The staff here are the friendliest people ever. Happy people making happy food! The price is amazing and the portions are fantastic! They make it all to order so your food is always fresh off the flat grill and they have a variety of sauces too like the yum yum sauce! My top recommending is the short ribs. You should see how much comes with an order!! Delicious to the last bite :) the rice is a Japanese style rice that tastes and feels very unique. Simple yet very flavorful. I really appreciate that everything is not full of sodium so you can actually taste the food for how it should taste. Give it a try! Sit in or grab some take out! Absolutely worth it. This is our go to spot for the weekends

I wanted to check out Hibachi Grill since yesterday. The second I walked in, the owners were so warm, friendly and welcoming. We asked them to recommend which dish is good, they recommended short ribs and squid. So I ordered the squid and shrimp combo. Food: Extremely good portion. They made there own yum yum sauce and it was just as yum yum as it sounds! The squid, they gave us like a full squid to go with my shrimp. The flavour were good and ingredients was fresh. It is definitely comparable to teppanyaki at restaurants. Seating 3-4 tables, it is more for take out. But you can sit there. Overall, a very good first experience. You can tell that the owner put his hearts to it. Definitely worth a try if you are out in the area.

Have come to Hibachi Grill on a number of occasions, never disappointed. Consistent quality of food, great service. Great lunch special if you are able to catch it during the time slot. Regardless the regular menu consists of a variety of items. Good selection of protein is available from your typical beef, pork, chicken to seafood. My order is usually the Spicy Chicken. Well flavored meat with adequate portion size to complement the bed of soft rice and grilled veggies. On top of that the sauce ..... The sauce ...... YumYum sauce, I don't know what it is but its appropriately named. Hot sauce, good kick. Teriyaki sauce never hurts to drizzle on. Add to your heart's content. I normally don't care about service at fast food locations but in the case, the owner and the family must be highlighted. Great people, down to earth. Always ready to serve great food. Would recommend and obviously going again. 5/5

This has become one of my go-to places. The food is always so fresh, portions are large, and the family that owns the place is always so welcoming and helpful. Their KBBQ, steak, shrimp, chicken and squid is just so good!!! I usually get it with the rice, and top it off with that yum yum sauce. Not sure what that sauce consists of but it's so addicting! This seems to be one of Pickering's hidden gems. From food to customer service, it's no wonder this place is a hit! I usually call in and place my order, and the food is ready in 15-20 mins that way I can just grab it to go. The restaurant itself isn't the biggest, and can can sometimes get warm, especially in the summer. Food tastes great even after a drive home.

Hibachi Grill is a little shop further east in Pickering. It is a family owned business and let me tell you, there food is amazing! I would definitely say it is worth the travel to get some delicious grilled food. There is something about how they grill their food and the sauces they have to add extra flavour. If you are there, ask for the YUM YUM sauce. I have no idea what ingredients make up this sauce, but it is outstanding. I had the spicy chicken and shrimp and my bf had the chicken and steak. Both with fried rice and vegetables and spring rolls. I would definitely choose either one of these combos again. It was so cute seeing a little girl, whom I'm assuming is the daughter of the owner, serve us. She was very polite and informative of what my options are in the menu. I would highly recommend this little restaurant for food on the go and dine in. Definitely my go to place when in Pickering!

I love this place for casual lunch. They have lunch special (even on the weekends) that's cheap and comes with lots of food. Service is amazing and the diner is little and clean. I'll come back again soon. P.s the white sauce is amazing. Try it on meat or rice.

When I saw the restaurant I had to try it as it was Japanese food and the sign was interesting too. I like the logo. I tried the steak and chicken and it was really great tasting food!! We went here soon after they opened and were shockingly surprised with how great the food is. When we saw the menu and pricing we didn't expect much but gave it a try as we felt like something new and there isn't a whole lot of take out options in Pickering that isn't burgers! We ordered the $20 combo and wow! So much food, shrimp was cooked to perfection! I was very impressed! My only suggestion would be to give a little less rice and a little more veggies. The veggies are so yummy but 80% of them are onions...I can't eat that much onion, give us a little more zucchini and carrot etc. We have been here several times now and it has yet to disappoint! Try the short ribs, seasoned and cooked perfectly you will love them. As long as this place keeps up their quality they will be getting a lot of our business for sure! A healthier fast food takeout option when you need dinner in a pinch! read more

After checking out this local Pickering restaurant grill, the high ratings on this local eatery is very deserving. The Yum Yum sauce on top of everything we ordered, added to the well rounded taste sensation. We tried the steak, shrimps, and scallops. The food was great and very hearty servings - your taste buds will be satisfied along with your belly. I went to this place after seeing many favourable reviews and after visiting this place last week, I don't see the reason for the hype. The food was just "okay" in my opinion. The portions seemed huge at first but in fact there was a lot more rice than meat. The stir fried mushrooms in my beef dish which were not fresh, old and badly bruised. A few of the sauces provided were tasty. The service was good but unfortunately due to the quality of the food, I will not be coming back. read more

I visited this place for the first time today after reading some excellent reviews about this restaurant. I can say that I loved it. The prices are very reasonable and the portion sizes is excellent also. Customer service is top notch. Very polite and friendly and caring about the customer. Food tasted great. I had the shrimp and chicken combo and the chicken and steak combo as well. Excellent quality. The only thing my family and I didn't like is that we felt the food and sauces were a bit on the sweet side. A bit too sweet to our taste. But other than that everything else is great! I will definitely go there again! read more

Very impressed with the food it came fast and fresh! We ordered a family combo D2 in the menu. The shrimp was probably the best part it was a mouth watering experience They even make their own hot sauces which us pretty unique and then they have the typical Sriracha if you prefer that. Would highly recommend, great staff as well very informative on how they make their food as well. Definitely coming back! read more

We went here for dinner with friends yesterday and we were all impressed! The food was of excellent quality, and the prices are very reasonable. They are proud of their ingredients and happy to answer any questions. The food is served in take out containers so when you're ready to leave you just grab your food and go, brilliant! Don't be fooled by the container, the presentation is still beautiful - our friend ordered shrimp and squid and it was gorgeous! We appreciated that they set up a table outside for us because the weather was nice. It is a family business and the children were so good with my toddler. My wife loves this place! We've been here a few times and service has always been amazing. From people taking your order, making your food to just pretty much anyone who works there is always friendly. Now to the food. We've ordered the beef short ribs, teriyaki chicken, steak and the shrimp multiple times and every time it taste great. I would suggest to get some of the yum yum sauce! First time we went here, didn't realize that's what they actually call it, and the name is very fitting. read more

The couple at the restaurant were so sweet. Very personable. I ordered the bbq short ribs and a side of salmon. The ribs were so good, tender and juicy and not at all tough. The salmon was a huge peice and it was grilled to perfection. It was so good. I regret not taking a picture. I will for next time. My husband and I will be back. read more

My friends and I first went here shortly after opening after receiving a flyer at rib fest. it wasn't hard to make us regular customers! The food is delicious (especially with their special YumYum Sauce), has great serving sizes, and is really inexpensive for what you get. My go-to is the Hibachi Steak, Shrimp, and Chicken which gives a generous portion of all three on top of a large amount of rice & vegetables. The great meal is highlighted by amazing appetizers as well! Their fried appetizers like Cream Cheese Wontons and Crab Tempura always taste great and don't ever feel oily despite being deep-fried goodies. The service is amazing, too. The owners are super kind and friendly. Every interaction feels real and they genuinely care that we enjoy our visit. They also have a small in-house rewards program where you can get $5 off a purchase after a set amount of money spent. It's great for both takeout and sit-in dining, and I see myself visiting here a lot more! read more

Friendly family run restaurant catering mainly to takeout although currently a few tables inside and out if you wish to eat there. We had squid, chicken, steak and short ribs all of which were delicious. They were accompanied with rice and hibachi prepared veggies in ample proportions. If I spent $30 on an order, I'd get 50% off. Sweet! I found Dragon Gem. I looked at the menu. Whenever I see ho fun on the menu, I have to get it. My order consisted of these items: - Beef ho fun - Large wonton soup I got an estimated time of ten minutes for my order to be ready. I thought that it was a mistake. It made sense when I got to the restaurant. I needed ten minutes to drive over here. It's in a plaza that I have frequented before. It has a Rexall that I shopped at in the past. I had no problem finding a parking spot near this restaurant. I backed into an available spot and walked in. I have never seen so many folks in a kitchen! I'd guess that there were eight folks making food and packing up orders. Wow! I got the nicest woman. I rattled off the last four numbers of my Skip the Dishes order. She found it and my name on the order. Yay! She handed me my food in a paper bag with a plastic bag around it. I thanked her and left. Everything was packed well. No leakage. My food and soup were still hot when I got home with it. I looked forward to chowing down. I started with the wonton soup. The broth was perfect. It was clear and had a touch of salt that I liked. There were many wontons that had flavourful pork filling. Each wonton was softer than expected, but it was nice not to exert much effort chewing it. It had sliced barbeque pork in it. So good! I got crunchy sticks. I've never been a fan of them, so I didn't put them in my soup. I loved the beef ho fun. It was perfect. It had lots of tender beef slices. I decided to give them another chance recently, hoping the last time was an anomaly. It wasn't. It was just as bad as it was over a year ago - no flavour and tons of red food colouring! What happened? Did they lose their chef? Do they not care anymore? Reading through the reviews, summer of 2017 seems to be when things started going downhill. There are several consecutive one-star reviews. The most recent review, although favourable, was from two years ago! With several competing restaurants in the area, I can't give them another chance.

The restaurant is very clean and organized. The dining area is pretty spacious. I heard they still have some good lunch special deals Tuesday to Friday for $9.99 (chicken, tofu, or veggie) $10.99 (beef , fish, or shrimp). We ordered the chilli chicken gravy medium spicy and spicy pepper chicken medium spicy lunch specials. You get small corn soup and steam rice. If you want to substitute for veggie fried rice or hakka noodle for $1.50. If you want to substitute your soup for soda it will set you back $1.00. The chilli chicken with gravy was very good and chicken was tender and gravy had the right amount of seasoning. The spicy pepper chicken dry was a bit disappointing. Some of the pieces of chicken were overcooked and hard to chew. Overall, the food is decent and maybe I will stay away from dry dishes and stick to the saucy ones. Their food is more Indian Chinese influenced versus other places that serve Caribbean style chinese food. I will come back and try other dishes.

For ages, we passed by Big M, noting its classic retro vibe and steady flow of customers. For years, we brushed off the recommendations of Pickering friends, but now, we have finally decided to stop by for a burger. There is outdoor seating only, so in the winter, Big M is a take-out only restaurant. Nevertheless, it was doing a brisk business at 6:00 on a Saturday. We each ordered Banquet Burgers (cheese and bacon). My husband and daughter ordered fries; I went for onion rings. They also each ordered a milkshake. Our opinion was united in that the burgers, shakes, fries and onion rings were exactly what the traditional, retro décor would lead us to expect. You'll not find surprising toppings or artisanal brioche buns at Big M, nor will you encounter the trending smash-burger. Rather, Big M succeeds because it delivers a fantastic version of the sort of burger that your Dad or Grandpa might have grilled up, or the burgers from that retro diner that you parents may or may not have dropped by on their way to the cottage that your family may or may not have visited or owned. Even if these weren't part of your childhood experiences, Big M serves up great traditional fare. Our burgers were made to order as we watched, and had a pleasantly browned and smoky finish, flame-licked by the grill, fresh, tasty toppings. The burger patty itself was neither thick nor thin, but classic 1/2 inch or so. The toasted Kaiser roll stayed crispy, and survived the trip home without getting soggy. The onion rings were the old fashioned, somewhat ponderous kind, as opposed to a lighter tempura style batter, and I relied on my husband to finish eating them on my behalf. But that substantial batter was exactly the right choice to pair with a traditional burger. The shakes were also traditional milk shakes, as opposed to, simply, "shakes", which may or may not contain actual milk or ice cream. The take-away: Big M is what it appears to be, a classic diner offering simple, diner-style fare. As such, it delivers a satisfying meal that more than meets the expectations: words like retro, traditional and home-style spring to mind. If you are in search of a trending, cheffy and possibly pricy experience (and I do tend to flock to those, when budget permits!), then Big M is probably not for you. However, for well-executed, basic, down to earth cooking, Big M serves up an excellent retro experience at a reasonable price. I'll be back to try the Whistle Dog (cheese and bacon) and the Canadian burger (Cheese and Peameal), plus another order of those indulgent onion rings.

I've tried the onion rings, poutine and fries and they're all GREAT. Although make sure you hydrate because I did feel the effects of having a salty lunch afterwards The diner calls themselves a "drive-in" but it's more of an outdoor diner/to-go place. Most of the seating is outdoors and picnic table style. The service was wondering. Everyone is really nice and you feel welcome going here.

I haven't had a chance to get to Zeera during the pandemic and I have missed it terribly so tonight I hopped onto Uber Eats and placed an order! I opted for some oldies but goodies and a couple of dishes I hadn't tried before. The bread basket is definitely a must have. All of their naan is delicious and I can never choose just one kind. Why not get an assortment? The other staple I ordered was Aloo Gobi. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked, as always. The dishes I hadn't tried before at Zeera were their chicken biryani and paneer korma. Both dishes were incredible and I will definitely order them again. I've had saag paneer countless times but I've never heard of paneer korma. I love korma so how could I go wrong? A definite winner! (I made my own Raita though.) When you compare price to serving sizes, it's one of the more expensive restaurants I go to but when I'm in the mood for Indian cuisine, Zeera is my go-to!
