I went to this store the other day for the first time. The owner is very rude and condescending. I was shocked at how I was treated while I am giving them business. As I walked out I asked the person I was with why the guy was so rude and did they feel like I did. They wanted to go off on him. I almost went back. I wish I had stood up for myself and called him out on his actions. I will never go back and will tell everyone I know not to go there. When we pulled into the parking lot there were no other cars there. I guess we know why. Don't waste your time there. read more

Hickey's was smart to start this liquor store in always-busy Milford, MA in the middle of three shopping districts and right off a major highway. So they stay busy, and I'm sure they're doing well financially. To me though, the measure of any great retail business is really simple--how well would they do if a quality competitor moved into their neighborhood. I can tell you for sure that if a Yankee Spirits or Total wine ever moved into town they'd be cooked. This business is run by people with a small town mentality of the worst kind. Outside: They've had some cars cutting through their parking lot so instead of putting in a speed bump or some signs, they park a front end loader across the driveway blocking the front and back lots. So if a customer pulls into the back lot, they have to walk a long way around the building to the front entrance. Inside: They bought an old restaurant and instead of renovating the interior to create a flow for customers to shop the different sections, they left the layout with three different rooms and a huge counter directly inside the entrance so when it's busy no one knows where to cue for the registers and shoppers have to walk through the lines to go from one side of the store to the other. It's always amazing to see the difference between business that are managed by people who can't get out of their own way, vs business that are managed by people who design a retail experience that shows their customers the way. ONE IS NOT HARDER THAN THE OTHER. It's just simply a matter of researching, thinking and awareness. Hickey's is in a retail coma. Time to get woke! read more

The place must be going out of business. The shelves are constantly empty and the selection is getting worse. This place should have a huge refrigerated wine section to compliment it's size but has a single case. The owner seems more interested in preparing his lunch and dinner in the back room. It is a real shame that no one is tending to this business. I really hope a Total Wine and More moves into town. read more

I do not normally write negative reviews for places. I have tried for several years to give this place the benefit of the doubt. I just kept hoping they would improve their selection and their customer service. The only reason I kept going back was because they have a really convenient location. After my experience there tonight, I am never going back. First off, the craft beer selection was dismal (I literally can't think of another word to describe it). I finally find a couple things to purchase, and I am checking out and the man checking us out starts flipping over the boxes of cans of beer and seltzers that I'm buying. He was trying to find the bar codes, I assume, but he's flipping them all upside down, Keep in mind, they are all carbonated! Ha! Bottom line, I've given this place enough chances, and every time I'm in there I swear to myself I won't go back, but tonight was the last straw. I can't say enough good things about Hickey Liquors. Their prices on wine are amazing. They have a tremendous wine selection. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They have offered to help me load my car. Once I needed Lilett Rose and they didn't have it. So they ordered it for me, called me the next afternoon to let me know it was ready for pick up. They are often having different tastings. AND, they support local brewers. They are amazing in there! Only negative is that they don't take American Express. read more

I called today to see if they had any of the NEW Trappist Beer brewed by Monks here in Massachusetts, it was just released yesterday (http://www.spencerbrewery.com/beer/). Gentleman answered the phone and he knew right away exactly what I was looking for. YES they had some. He provided price and quality available even asked if I would like him to set some aside for me. When i used to live in Milford this was my store of choice. Now i live in Medway and i get my liquors from a sotre in Millis but still .. If you live in the Milford area i think you should look no further than this place. Their selection on wines are VAST biggest in the town by far. If you like craft beers they have a lot of them, and i think they also have that thing where you get 6 different beers and put in a 6 pack, at least taht is how it used to be. Also on the hard liquors they have about the best price, again in Milford anyways. So if you life there give this place a try, you wont regret it. read more

Excellent microbrew section in the back where you can mix and match and make your own six pack. They have a pretty decent wine and liquor selection. Employees there are knowledgable and and usually reliably recommend something new to try. read more

The selection while deep isn't well suited for those looking for the hard to find ingredients. For instance, I couldn't find Old Overholt Rye or Cherry Heering. Hickey's has a decent selection of craft beers and moderately priced wines. Their customer service leaves much to be desired, however. Never am I greeted when I walk into the store or when I arrive at the counter with my purchases. I am never thanked for my business, either. I have on two occasions inquired if they had a particular wine, which they promptly look up and report that they do. I am then directed to the general area. When I've returned to the counter empty handed, no one asks if I need assistance finding the item. I've had to ask directly if someone could please help me. This happened today. I was the only customer in the store and there were 3 employees behind the counter, including the owner. I'm not looking for warm fuzzies, but a simple greeting, perhaps a smile, and a little helping hand once in a while would be appreciated. I will continue to do business there - they're nice enough people and all, but I'm left wanting just a little bit more from a business that I consistently patronize. read more
