Got the brisquet sandwich, potato salad and key lime pie. Mighta been slightly better if bun was buttered & toasted, but not a bread person anyways. The pie and potato salad were fine, really picknicky standard stuff that still did the trick. The young lady running the shift couldn't have been nicer [is that a word?]. I love Hickory Hills barbecue! It's a small local place that not many people know about! Only the locals. He's only open late spring summer and early fall. But it's worth a little extra drive! I haven't had one bad thing there. I crave their Cajun coleslaw as one of my sides. They measure & weigh out the meet and you can't even find the Bun you get so much! I've had the brisket,pulled pork,chicken, & the nachos,they're all delicious! Tim's (the owner) BBQ sauce is the best! Better than any of the other options! He keeps other popular name brand barbecue sauces in the facility, but stick with his, you won't regret it! They smoke everything locally and sometimes you can arrive with the smoker going on in the back for next days meats. The smell will guarantee your belly rumbling! I personally love the half slab of ribs! But these are only on Friday evenings. And only while supplies last and they usually run out pretty fast! I would say get there early if you want to be guaranteed a slab or half slab. But don't get there too early, because there better be one left for me! read more

Rustic and unassuming with delicious food! I stopped here while visiting family in Columbus. The nachos were not only good but could easily feed 3 people. I thought Memphis had the best ribs but these are pretty close. We will return. read more

After a long brutal Winter here in S Central IN, we finally had a day above freezing!! The sun was shining and I am well underway with Spring cleaning. Time change is tonight (another sign of Spring) and then ... it hit me.. HICKORY HILLS BBQ! I came to the website (it is in my Fav's) and there it was.. those glorious words.. "NOW OPEN"!! With trembling fingers I dialed those digits ... 1 ring .. then 2 .. and then..like a chorus of Angels...the voice on the end uttered words from the holy grail of BBQ places... "Thanks for calling Hickory Hills, how may I help you"? I ordered the last pound of pulled pork and then drove like a mad woman from Franklin to Edinburgh. I stopped in this past Thursday as I had a hankering for barbecue and the yelp reviews seemed like I would not be steered wrong. I'm hoping I just went on a bad night, but it is unlikely I will return to see if that is the case any time soon if at all. Here's why: -Flies and more flies everywhere! (It looks like they are aware of it and have taken steps to try to prevent it from touching the food, but sooner or later, maybe they should actually deal with the issue instead of just letting the flies run amok. -The customer service that I experienced was ok at best. I got a very standard can I help you and what sauce did I want. -I ordered the beef brisket sandwich, but I feel it was not done right. They pre-shred their beef and keep it in a container with what I presume is some sort of beef broth. They then shake off all the liquid that they can and then put in between a bun. This totally degrades the flavor profile of what should be a great beef brisket (presuming they cooked it right) for a few reasons. 1)None of the char will be present as it will all be lost in the liquid. 2)It would be hard to tell what kind of meat it is, and it could easily have been a beef roast that they slow cooked. 3)The meat became dry (and not in a good way) Maybe I'll come back again if I am in the area and they have taken care of their fly situation and try the ribs that according to their menu they only serve on Friday and Saturday and give it a second chance as it seems that is where a good portion of the reviews steer towards. But I am just as likely to try somewhere else instead. read more

I live just a few miles down the road from here and have been wanting to try this place out for quite some time and today my parents and I finally got some food there to go I ordered a full rack of ribs and my parents each had the Boss Hog pulled pork sandwich with baked beans and coleslaw first of the ribs were absolutely amazing they literally fell off the bone I had to eat it finger food style very tender with a beautiful smoke ring I used the mild sweet bbq sauce which is also good and had just little kick to it the sandwiches each had a half pound of pulled pork on them which were delicious and the beans and slaw fantastic I have to say this place is great and has the best bbq I have ever had unfortunately they only have ribs on Fridays and Saturdays and have been known to be sold out of them and other foods by 5:30pm on Fridays Hickory Hills is my new go to place for BBQ I will definitely be back read more
