First time at Montana Mikes Steakhouse, we loved it! My wife and I celebrated her birthday there yesterday. Started with the yummy rolls and apple butter, Campfire Shrimp, all excellent! My wife had fillet mignon was cooked to order, juicy and great tasting, baked potato was moist and tasty. I had the creamy Cajun shrimp ribeye also cooked per ordered, great tasting and juicy (even without the sauce), a little more fatty than other restaurants, but still enough meat to enjoy. Baked potato (same as above) and coleslaw also tasty and crisp. My wife had a Pina Colada (she sucked it down before I had a chance to taste it, so it must have been good). Ended it with a complementary rocky mountain mudslide (large chocolate sundae with a brownie) also great. Service was phenomenal, I believe our servers name was Carol. Even the manager went from table to table checking on everyone food and service (haven't seen this done in some time). Ambiance was festive, but not over baring (you didn't have to raise your voice just to have a conversation). No question, we plan to make this restaurant one of our regular eating locations. read more

Ordered the NY Strip with Ancho butter, steamed veggies and a Caesar salad. It says something about a steakhouse when the best part of your meal is the salad -- and the Caesar really was excellent. Perfect portion, great dressing, well-balanced. Unfortunately, that's where the highlights end. The steak and veggies arrived shortly after I finished the salad, but the vegetables were cold and clearly undercooked. The bigger disappointment was the NY Strip itself. I ordered it medium rare and it came out medium well -- and I'm not exaggerating when I say the cut was barely a half-inch thick. Grey throughout, with zero sear on either side. To be fair to the kitchen, it's nearly impossible to hit medium rare on a steak that thin, so the real issue isn't the cooking -- it's the quality of the meat being sourced. The ancho butter was $1.99 extra and absolutely flavorless. Didn't even taste like real butter much less any seasoning in it. For a restaurant billing itself as a steakhouse, the cut and quality of the beef has to be the priority. This one missed the mark. read more

After a day of shopping in Edinburgh, we stopped at Montana Mike's for dinner. The restaurant was super clean, they were even wiping down the doors when we walked in. We got seated right away and our server was great! The rolls came out warm with cinnamon butter, and my daughter said they were the best ever. We ordered the garden salad with grilled chicken, teriyaki chicken, and chicken tenders with a loaded baked potato. Everything was great and the service was just as good. Bill stopped by after we finished to check on us. He was so friendly and fun to talk to! Definitely a great guy to have on the team. We'll for sure be back next time we're in town! read more

Where do I start? The service! Amanda, our server, exceeded any expectations of a great server. My 12-year-old grandson, said. "She's great!" She gave us enough space to talk with each other and she engaged with us. (That's always a delicate balance.) It was the best catfish I've had in a while. It was seasoned and breaded lightly. When we first entered this restaurant we weren't sure what to expect. It gives off a feel similar to Texas Roadhouse. The dinner rolls were good and the service was excellent. The atmosphere is very relaxed as well. We started off with the fried zucchini as an appetizer and wow, not only was it delicious but there was also a large amount for the money. My son ordered the 10 oz sirloin, medium, with a double order of fries. Again, the portion of fries for each order was very large (honestly could have fed two people if they had their own steaks. My daughter ordered the boneless buffalo wings with fries and said it was good. My husband ordered the 12 oz New York strip with a salad and baked sweet potato. His steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and his sweet potato was perfectly soft and tender. My husband said it was the best sweet potato that he has ever had with how it was cooked. I ordered the ribeye sandwich with rice pilaf and it was all tasty. Though it had the Texas Roadhouse vibe, the food was cooked evenly and seasoned perfectly (unlike every Texas Roadhouse we have been to). I'd give it 3.5 if I could. A few changes would make it 5 stars. Short version: Price to value and flavor + service. If you're in the area looking for a sit down meal and maybe an adult beverage.... totally worth it. Service was exceptional. Also all the staff really looked like they were enjoying themselves. I had a veteran and a trainee and thought the vet did a great job explaining and teaching as we interacted. GM/leadership came around and checked on me. Saw him later making drinks to help out bar tender. Awesome! Easy to get a seat Saturday at 7:30p. Buffalo Trace Manhattan was great. I wasn't expecting much but it was well balanced. There were some local beers I should have tried, but wasn't feeling up to it. I think about 4 different styles of local. I ordered the NY strip medium, garden salad with homemade blue cheese dressing and mashed potatoes. Got a comp roll and cinna butter. Roll: Pretty tasty. Just a tad undercooked for me, but it was still really good. Salad: Everything was fresh and crisp! However, it was probably the most underwhelming of the meal. Too watery. iceburg lettuce pieces were HUGE, onion were in rings, like 2 crutons and I swear 3 little strings of cheese. Now, the PORTION size overall of the lettuce was huge. I had high hopes for the BC dressing. one- there wasn't enough for the dressing to lettuce ratio, and two, it was pretty bland. I think they could take the salad up a notch without much effort and zero cost. The basics are there to make it really good. Steak: It was medium - totally impressed! It was also tender and juicy. NY strips are pretty lean and they did a good job. I don't like hardly any fat so I use surgeon like precision to remove fat but a few bites where I got some of the trim it was well rendered and flavorful. So super kudos there! They could take this to 5 stars by doing two things. Seasoning my friends. Seasoning! There was zero seasoning I could tell. You got the hard part right!! LOL. Do the easy part and season it with S&P+G some melted butter, etc. Like pennies to take a 3 star steak to 5 stars! Second - Sear it. It came out with grill marks, but if you could give that steak a good crust.....man with the medium perfection and tenderness that would be a freaking amazing steak at a great price. Given this is a steakhouse, I'm critical on this one. You nail this part and I'd totally say 4-5 stars. Bonus- I think steak sauce is a crime. However since there was no seasoning I did use some minimally. Wow, the house sauce is amazing. Thick, good flavor, not over powering. Reccomend. Mashed potatoes: OMG. I have no idea if those are made in-house but if they are----give that cook a raise! They are rough mashed so they have some chewy texture. But whatever lesson they learned on seasoning potatoes they need to apply to the steak. I'll go out on a limb and say top 5 mashed taters I've ever had. read more

We stopped in to give Montana Mike's a try. First off Ali L gave us great service throughout our dinning service. The restaurant had a great atmosphere. We both had a salad that was crisp and fresh. I ordered the 6 oz Sirloin & grilled shrimp combo. I would rate my Sirloin as average and the shrimp was delicious. My side was mashed potatoes with gravy and it was very good. Had the ribs for the first time at Montana Mikes. 1/2 rack was plenty. Very flavorful and fell off the bone. My wife had catfish and said it was excellent. Our waitress, Taylor, was very personable and did a great job. Highly recommend them for ribs or steaks. read more

If you have never been to a Montana Mikes, it is similar to any steakhouse/roadhouse out there. Outdoor decor, staple dishes, and lots of tvs playing sports. Montana Mike's offers a dependable dining with generous portions. I had the fried catfish, which was well-cooked, battered nicely, and flavorful, though not exceptional. My boyfriend enjoyed his steak, which was cooked to his liking . The portions are notably large, ensuring you won't leave hungry. Not pictured, onion rings as our appetizer. While nothing was outstanding about our visit we enjoyed our food. Our server was less than enthusiastic to be working. The manager did stop at our table to personally check in, however this may be due to the table next to ours complaining about their meal. I've been to Montana Mike's before but this is my first review, just because it was so good. It's always good, but this was different. I wish I could remember my servers name because she was awesome and got a massive tip because of her service. I had the ribeye sandwich, medium rare. It's on a toasted hamburger bun with lettuce, tomato and horseradish sauce on the side. It is actually a ribeye steak, cooked medium rare, on a bun. Incredible! Tender with amazing flavor. I don't eat like I did when I was younger so I don't finish many meals, but nothing was left of this sandwich. I also had the house salad with ranch, and their ranch is very good. I don't do cucumbers or raw onions, but they are easily removed. The roll with cinnamon butter is a nice starter. Highly recommended. read more

I was staying at a hotel off base from Camp Atterbury and my co worker suggested Montana Mike's for dinner. Things started off good here- we were seated right away and our food arrived relatively quickly, however it went quickly downhill. Once we got our food our server was either no where to be found or when she passed by our table she didn't stop. I had to stop her to ask for another drink and stop her again for the check. I felt like I was inconveniencing her to ask. Also, somehow they kept messing up our drink orders. I asked for a short beer and they brought me a tall, and my co worker asked for a tall at first and they brought him a short. I ordered the 6 oz sirloin with baked potato and side salad. The food was ok but nothing spectacular to write home about. I don't know that I would come back given the service. We were there for almost three hours for two people to get dinner and then constantly trying to flag down our server. read more

Great restaurant. The atmosphere was laid back and welcoming. They had a great selection of local brews along with other domestics. The bar was loaded with options for beverages. The food came out hot and fresh just like the descriptions. The bbq chicken sandwich was great, it had a sweet bbq glaze with cheese and an onion ring that topped it off. It was a very large portion. The dressing was phenomenal. My colleague enjoyed the yeast rolls with cinnamon butter. We were not greeted when we walked in the door. As we were there at 11 AM, and the first ones in line when they were unlocking the door. That was kind of odd to unlock and turn around and walk away without opening the door and saying welcome . our server on the other hand was very friendly and the kitchen staff who brought out our food was super friendly. First time eating at Montana Mike's. Really great food and if you like "roadhouse" atmosphere, you'll love it. We were at the start of a vacation and had no clue where to eat. So...random stop. Looked for lots of local cars. (If the locals don't eat there, keep going!) My husband had a Cheeseburger and green beans (he's trying to make up for 60 years of french fries). I had the broccoli cheese soup and the fried zucchini and mushrooms appetizer. The food was perfect. Stephen was our polite, efficient waiter and he kept our drinks filled and checked on us periodically. He seemed like he enjoyed his work, so either he's a great employee or he's just a great actor. We were sat in the bar area. Our server came over immediately. We got hot fresh rolls with cinnamon butter. They were delicious. We started with Loaded Cheese Fries with Ranch Dressing. They were pretty good. My glazed salmon was really good. It was glazed with teriyaki and soy. The baked potato was served with lots of butter and sourcream. Husband got Steak and Baked potato. Take Out service after a long day of business travel and work: the order was prompt, text messages received from the Steakhouse and when I arrived, staff were polite and offered me a beverage while i waited, which wasn't a long time. We our longtime customers of Montana Mikes Steakhouse. We have always loved the meals there. While the hostesses and server's have always been 5 star excellent, as was the case during our most recent meal on 2 January, 2025, ...the food was FAR below their usual great quality. I ordered the "Ribeye Steak sandwich". In the past I have had there burgers and pork tenderloin sandwich's and they have always been excellent. There fried onion rings have always been great. So I decided to try their Ribeye Steak with a side of onion rings. This was without a doubt, the WORST steak I have ever tasted!!! It was very large, but as tough as a shoe sole and as tasteless as a piece of cardboard... After recently having had Ribeyes at other restaurants (Third and Main and Longhorn Steakhouse which were excellent) this steak at Mikes was terrible!!!! The onion rings were soft and not crisp and tasteless. I doubt that they pounded the Ribeye, or sautéd it, seared it or otherwise tenderized it or pre-prepared it to flavor it!!!! And it was next to impossible to cut with a steak knife, let alone bite into in a sandwich form and it had absolutely NO taste!!! We drive on a regular basis from Lawrenceburg, Indiana to Edinburgh just to eat at Montana Mikes, but I doubt will we be back soon as Max and Erma's is just next door Mikes. I want the old Montana Mikes quality back...we really want to go back to being regular customers!!! read more
