I wanted to let you know about my experience The Hickory Tavern yesterday at the Hickory location. First, let me start by telling you that Hickory Tavern used to be my favorite place to eat. Wednesdays are the best nights to go because I love wings. Over the last few months, I have noticed that the service has gotten really bad. The servers have no idea what they are doing and more often than not, I have to track them down to get a refill or even just place my order. Tonight was mine and my friends date night and the experience broke my heart. The server I had (Alyssa, a redhead young thing) was horrible. She took our beer order, brought our beer back and walked away without a word, and then finally, after 15 minutes of us waiting and her sitting at a table talking with some couple, decided to ask us if we were ready. She never came back after that, She sat at that same table (one table away from us). I had to ask another server to get our food. Once our food came out, my entire order was wrong, the server then sat there and argued with me about what ordered I placed. Does this generation have no concept of customer service? What kind of training do these servers get? So I had to wait another 25 minutes to get the right order and after that came out, they shorted me wings! The server (who overheard me telling another server that I was unhappy with my current server) then told me that she was sorry if I was upset because she was sitting at the table, as if it were my fault that she was not doing her job. At no point while I was talking to other servers trying to get my food did she ever budge from her conversation. I was a server and a bartender for several years and would never have sat down on the job while I had tables, let alone in front of the table! This is bad service and I let her know. She was completely unaware of what she had done. To make my experience even worse, there was not a manager on duty, no one offered us any kind of compensation (even though I would not have taken it) but it is the effort that counts here. This business at Hickory, does not try anymore and I wanted you to know tonight you lost a very loyal customers. I will now be going to The Old Tavern up the street they are new and not connected to the Tavern Chain at lease there I am sure I'm going to get good service. This place is great! In fact, we drive an hour & a half just to eat here. Every experience we've had has been great and we've eaten here easily dozens of times. From the greeter at the door to the manager (who has visited our table nearly every visit), the staff is friendly, polite, helpful, attentive -- all the qualities you want in a great dining experience. The quality of the food is outstanding -- consistently the freshest we've found anywhere! And the portion sizes are quite generous. I always get the build you own salad -- which features your choice of various lettuces/spinach, dozens of toppings, multiple cheeses, wonderful dressings, and excellent add-on proteins (the ahi tuna is sushi grade and cooked to perfection!). My husband tries different things from Hickory Tavern's generous menu and has started ordering 2 entrees in order to have plenty of left-overs to take home. He always "steals" some of my salad, because it is just that good!!! (and there is plenty to share) We have never had anything we didn't love! I'd like to try the pizza sometime (they have a brick pizza oven!) or some of the other yummy-sounding offerings, but just can't seem to give up my salad... We wish that Hickory Tavern was just down the block -- we would eat here so often that I would be willing to try everything on the menu! And, if you like cheesecake, save some room or take home a slice of one of the several on the menu (the Oreo cheesecake is sooooo good) -- your taste buds will thank you! The food here is spectacular! Our server is nothing short of an amazing worker. She always brought a smile to our faces and made sure our glasses were never more than half empty. Her name is Alicia and she was absolutely fantastic. Definitely requesting her in the future. When she brought our food out (in perfect timing I may add) it looked amazing and tasted even better. I recommend The Hickory Tavern any day at any time. It's the perfect place to hang out with friends and family. When our food was brought out, the presentation was spot-on. After my first bite into my chicken and rice, I knew I chose the right spot for my Saturday lunch. The food-truck menu is spectacular and they just added more items to it. My friend ordered Linda's Turkey Melt and I may have taken a couple of bites of it. Our food was amazing and I cannot wait to go back!! read more

Went 4/7/22 had a party of 9 ppl we got seated separately. Our first group ordered 10 mins before us but received their food when we was done eating and ready to go so my grandparents had to take they food Togo. It's sad because people who came in after us received they food before us , it took forever for us to get refills THE OLACE WASN'T EVEN PACKED THERE WAS MORE THEN ENOUGH STAFF TO HELP OUT A COWORKER WITH THEY TABLE . We had to go up to the bar to pay . The man in the kilt who seemed like the manager wasn't helpful. One waiter seen how Our party was being treated (the manager over heard & still didn't acknowledge ANYTHING WRONGED SERVICE. OUR WHILE TABLE GOT UP AND WALKED AROUND TO SEE WHY OUR SERVICE TOOK FOREVER AND OTHERS DIDNT. YES IM GETTING TOWARDS A Racist vibe . read more

I worked at the original Hickory Tavern on hwy127 when I was younger so I have some pretty high expectations when visiting this restaurant - with that said, they DO make mistakes every now and then but always make it right, usually going over and beyond my expectations actually. The managers are equally pleasant and attentive - I don't think I've even left without one of the managers walking over and asking how our experience was. I would and DO recommend this place all the time, its one of our go-to's when we have friends and family from out of town visiting! Bloody Marys are my and my husbands favorites here! read more

Don't ever come to this bar thinking you are welcomed. Their staff blows you off and like you are GARBAGE. Went there thought it was a nice bar, I AM WRONG. Their bartenders are THE WORST! They thing because they give you a beer and a nice azz that they will get a tip. Their food is all bread and no meat. They treat customers like garbage. Their staf are the worst you would fine better waitresses at McDonalds thru the drive thru then thes rude obnoxious staff Dont tip them if you go. My husband and I have eaten there several times. The food is good but every single solitary time the service has been extremely slow. In addition, they have never gotten an order for nachos deluxe correct when I have called it in. Even after the staff writes down what I want and I have them repeat it back to me. Had a great dinner and had an awesome server. Heather took great care of us like she does everytime we come in to eat. I also have to say that the floor manager Shaunda was running around helping everyone and doing a great job . I love the fact that she checked on us a few times with a smile on her face! shonda is an outstanding manager. she is the type of friendly personality i appreciate and she puts the patrons first. our server was daniel and his customer service was exceptional. we were very pleased with our interaction with these two employees. not to mention, the food is delicious!! read more

This is the only bar I go to now. I moved here about a year ago and Hickory Tavern has, by far, the most friendly staff. Tiffany & Alyssa behind the bar are always pleasant, Donna and Shunda, two of the managers, make it a point to say hello every time I'm there. Love this place. read more

Pretty good for a first trip there! I know everyone in our group left satisfied and the desserts were pretty great. I'll definitely return.

The Hickory Tavern is the beat. Angela is awesome and LaShaunda is great. They took amazing care of us and we can't wait to cone back!

The service staff are friendly and enjoyed all the wonderful food. Grilled chicken salad so good. Very nice portions!
