Karla C was a fabulous server! She was friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. Food was great too!

Our stomachs were rumbling just as Hickory Tavern came into view. So glad we stopped! If you know me, I LOVE CRAB CAKES! They had Maryland Jumbo Crab Cakes. Note, they say jumbo, but I wish they were bigger because they were so delicious that I wanted to skip the salad and everything else and just fill up on crab cakes! Crabby & Buttery! Perfection! I also ordered the loaded baked potato. Delicious! My salad was fresh and glorious too! If you have this place in your sights, STOP! If you like crab cakes, STOP! Most Sincerely!

Hello, Ate here after attending the meh Hickory Octoberfest on Sunday afternoon. No German food there in sight, not even a pretzel, but that's another review. We used to frequent the Hickory Tavern Mooresville about 8 years ago when we lived there and found their food bland and boring and the place smelled like stale beer. I'm here to tell you they recently revamped their menu and I reluctantly agreed to go to the hickory location ( where I now live in the area) yesterday to give them a fresh chance. I am glad I did! First , I was greeted and seated in quick fashion with plenty of TVs for NFL Sunday games. 2nd- Our server Savannah was awesome! Kept refills going, food timed perfectly and kept checking back with us 3rd- the food. Touchdown!! Had the appetizer platter , sorry no pics we inhaled it. Pickles, tortilla chips, pretzel bites, mozzarella wedges and these potato bacon fritter things were awesome! 4 dipping sauces including warm spicy queso, warm marinara, ranch and a spicy aioli. Little touches that were perfect. Mains were the charred wings with garlic Parmesan. Smallish wings but filling and tasty and the Reuben and fries. Fries were hot and crisp and the Reuben was filled with meat and melted Swiss and the rye bread was perfect, not soggy. Touchdown again!! Sorry for long review but you have earned our business back after a long absence. Also signed up for the loyalty club. Can't wait to try other menu items. Winner!!

No one in the restaurant and it took them an hour and a half to get our food. Don't go here for a quick bite!

The pub is in the basement of a building which is not always a good thing but in this case, it worked well! The spiral staircase added character to the pub and the character kept on keepin' on as we entered the restaurant. The inside is brick and wood which gives a pleasant dive feel. The staff was friendly and we were seated promptly. It was around 7:30 pm on a Saturday evening so it was pleasantly uncrowded. We ordered Irish potato soup, fried cheese curds, the Reuben on sourdough bread and fish n' chips. They were all amazing!! I had the soup and it was delicious- it was their take on French onion soup with potatoes and carrots. They always have it so if you like soup- GET IT! The cheese curds were legit- the cheese was tasty and the breading just right. My wife ordered the Rueben on sourdough instead of the offered rye. The sandwich was a classic Reuben which my wife liked so much that I had to have a bite. It was great! Plenty of corned beef and hash with a sauce that added the right amount of tang. My son ordered the fish and chips. The fish was outstanding and my son and I both agreed that it was as good as fish that we had recently had in London- awesome! One note about the fries- the fries were scrumptious and came in a shape that seems like they shaved from a potato rather than the usual shape of a fry. The shape was neat but the taste was no joke- delicious. Oh, and if you like sweet tea, they have it.;) Overall, it was a great dinner in a great place with friendly people at a fair price. Now we know where to go the next time we are in Hickory. If you live in the area and haven't tried McGuires, do yourself a favor and go!!! Thanks, McGuire's Pub!!

The wait-person was busy shooting the breeze with bar patrons, and then decided to bus tables instead of attending to the two new tables. We walked out, after telling them why.

I liked that there was a separate room for large parties, it kept the overall ambiance relaxed. Dessert could have been better. It wasn't bad,it just didn't match the level of the food. I admired the artwork. The cascading glass waterfall is what first caught my eye when I entered. Fourk has been open since 2015 and serves New American cuisine with a twist. I was warmly welcomed when I entered and got seated at a round booth with a great view, near the artwork that caught my eye. They really know how to treat single diners here, which is rare these days. I liked that I got the best table in the place, and that they didn't attempt to seat me at the bar. My waitress was friendly and incredibly attentive. She helped me select a mocktail while going over the daily specials, and she even brought me the dessert menu near the beginning of my meal so I could plan ahead. The menu had many options in all price ranges. You can get sandwiches, burgers, salads and more high-priced entrees like mahi mahi, scallops and filet mignon. I went with the daily special, which was the Oscar Filet Mignon. It came with hollandaise sauce and grilled shrimp, and that combination intrigued me. I had the Party Punch mocktail, but it was perfect with strawberries, basil, pineapple and ginger ale. The filet mignon and topping were also amazing. I even had room for dessert and knew I had to try the blackberry wine cake, and that didn't disappoint either. This was a very special meal for me, as it marked the first leg of my trip to finish visiting all 100 North Carolina counties. With the great atmosphere, service, and food, Fourk set the bar incredibly high for the rest of my journey. I might need to make another special trip just to dine here again. The murder mystery nights and the live music nights are an added plus.
