HiCo is a super cute coffee shop I Kealakekua. There is a good sized parking lot and even a drive through. We went at about 10:00 on a Wednesday morning and lucked out with the last parking spot. They have a cute outdoor seating area as well as tables inside. The place was busy with people on their laptops and families enjoying their morning coffee and snacks. We got haupia latte and a brown sugar latte. They asked if we wanted it hot or cold and we both chose cold. They also have hats, t shirts, jackets with their logo on it. The t shirts were nice but kinda pricey at $35.00. Service was quick and really no complaints. Would definitely recommend this place if you're in Kona. read more

The hot latte here is so good I didn't think it could get any better until I tried the 100% Kona coffee upgrade. Wow! Delicious. The staff are cheerful and the merch is so cool. We've been coming back every morning and just love it. They could do a better job displaying their baked goods (hidden in a box sometimes) but that's not much of a complaint. read more

We tried the Ube latte and Ube cold brew with cold cream topper- the coffee itself was strong but the Ube flavoring is not very sweet. If you are looking for merch to take home- they have shirts and stickers and cups, etc. I bought a card package to send home with a bag of coffee beans. Did someone say drive-thru coffee shop? Yeah, count me in! On the drive from Kona to Captain Cook, we stopped by this HiCO location. We took an early morning flight from O'ahu and this was our first stop. I've been to other HiCO locations on the Big Island and I gotta say, they have the speediest service here. Same great high quality drinks, just faster! The haupia latte is my go-to order. Love that it's not too sweet and the added texture from the coconut shavings paired with the thick and creamy coconut cream is just sooo good. My boyfriend ordered their 100% Hawaiian coffee cold brew and that really gave us the caffeine boost we needed to power through the day. You can really taste the quality of the coffee with this drink. It is a drive-thru but we had a bit of time to kill since it was so early, so we parked and went in (parking is super easy btw). For a drive-thru they also have a lot of seating and they sell some awesome merch too. read more

I needed a midday drink and stopped on the way after hiking! I ordered the Maui wowie (pineapple juice with sparking water) and holy moly! The coconut sweet cream foam with toasted coconut flakes! Drool! I would drink it everyday! I also ordered the prosciutto fig toast! The sourdough was perfection! I loved every bite. It's a pretty big piece, so I'm glad I ordered a half size. Came here twice during our trip because we loved it so much! Cute little coffee shop at the south end of the island. Stopped here to fuel ourselves for the drive out to Volcano National Park. The coffee was absolutely delicious and the young staff member did a great job telling us about their beans and the quality of the coffee. Great spot offering coffee shop favorites with a Hawaiian twist! My wife and I stopped here after hiking down to snorkel at the Captain Cook monument. It was the perfect place to relax and recharge. They staff was friendly and made some excellent recommendations that elevated our experience. My wife ordered the Ube Sweet Cream Cold Brew and I opted for the Coconut Sweet Cream Cold Brew. Both drinks were awesome and their non-dairy coconut cream cold foam is delicious. We also split a Ube Crinkle Cookie that I highly recommend trying- it's unique and tastes great. This is a great stop if you need caffeine on the way to Captain Cook. We stopped in two days in a row. Love the modern vibes -- and when we visited, they had a skeleton from Halloween that was decked out and posed in different spots each day, ha. Prices are a little high, but it's quality coffee and food -- from cappuccinos to yummy cardamom buns to avo toast, all of which we sampled and liked. The service was fast with our drinks served in minutes. The ambiance is eclectic matching the other HiCo. The Ube Sweet Cream White Mocha was delicious just like the other HiCo we tried. HiCo Hawaiian Coffee is a delightful find! This spot has something for everyone -- they have your standard drinks that you'll find at most coffee shops as well as some unique options which we opted to try. First up was the Iced Haupia Latte, and it was nothing short of amazing (HIGHLY recommend)! The combination of coconut sweet cream and rich espresso was heavenly, providing a refreshing twist on a classic latte. The flavors were perfectly balanced! I will say, the drink runs on the slightly sweeter side but is still very tasty (perhaps ask for half the coconut sweet cream if you want it a little less sweet). We also tried the Coconut Froshaka and it was a game-changer! This blended frozen treat was incredibly refreshing, with the perfect blend of coconut flavor and sweetness. This is definitely more of a "treat" coffee drink as opposed to something I would have daily but if you enjoy blended drinks, I highly recommend. Both these drinks, I would certainly order again! The atmosphere of HiCo is inviting and laid-back, making it a great place to relax or catch up with friends. The staff was super friendly. I miss HiCO so much. We went during early August 2023 and it quickly became our morning spot. All the bagels we had were so good and their coffees were delicious! We even got a bag of their beans to take home. I had the Lily Special, Wai Meli Jun Kombucha, and my husband often got the coratdo. Bacon & cheese bagel, BLT bagel, and feta and spinach bagel were all soooo good. My favorite was the feta and spinach, got it twice! First time here. We ordered ube latte, coffee drip, smoked ahi cucumber toast and musubi. All items tasted great, but the service was slow. The beverages came first but by the time the food arrived an hour later, our drinks have been consumed. I had to ask about my order. We had to ask for an additional plate for 2 orders, otherwise, prepare to use table napkins. There are numerous tables outside but preferred sitting indoors. Loved the hanging pothos and large wall floral artwork. Sufficient parking and lines get longer around 9 am. Also, you might want to ask for a receipt when you pay so in case of errors. Definitely will come back here for breakfast! The service was good and the inside feels new, refreshing and relaxed and we were all about it. They have a drive thru which we would probably use if we were in a hurry. We ordered a matcha latte (super good), a salmon lox toast and a breakfast croissant sandwich. The food and coffee were great. The "drip" coffee (not sure if it was really drip but I don't want to call it "plain") was the smoothest coffee I've ever tasted. My husband got one while I tried a flavored tea. I tasted his coffee and asked one more for myself. I think it was a Big Island Coffee but don't quote me. I may not remember the name, but I remember that smooth taste. I don't remember what we had to eat but it tasted good and we finished the whole thing. One thing about the flavored teas, make sure that you indicate at the time of ordering if you want it hot or cold. I was expecting my drink to be hot, but I was given an iced version, which unfortunately tasted a little watered down. The service was friendly and we can tell that the workers take pride in what they do. This is important for a boutique restaurant to thrive. The ambience is that of an island coffee shop, complete with merch. There were plenty of inside and outdoor seating, current music (was a little loud). We were in Kona for 4 days & by unanimous decision ... HiCO was our favorite breakfast spot. Kainoa & Paris prepared for us THE freshest & tastiest Breakfast Bagels. I am so glad we found the 2nd location. The coffee the day before was from the other location. We went through the drive thru and it was neat to order immediately and then go around to pick it up. It has cool decor on the oustide of the building and offers outside seating. We ordered the iced ube latte and latte. When we arrived to the second window, we were also offered steamed ube milk as it was extra. What an awesome surprise. I drank that and it was so delicious. I finished it off with my ube latte. It was just as delicious as my first. My mom enjoyed hers too. We definitely want to come back and try other items. Thank you HiCo! read more
