I am a frequent customer at Hidden Cafe (La Palma location) and I must say, I am content with the general operation of the hookah lounge. I go there so frequently with my friends that it comes to the point where we know the whole staff (who is new and who is not). Unlike other hookah bars, they don't blast music to where you think you are in a freaking concert. This place plays decent music at an appropriate noise level to where you are able to have a legitimate conversations with your friends. As for the ambience, it is a pristine setting. When it comes down to the flavor/tobacco, I am very satisfied with the quality and whoever packs it. I also like how the staff can tell me their honest opinion of flavors that I have not tried and what goes well with each other. Another thing I like about them is that they have this thing called "Spot On" which is a reward system for how many spots you accumulated. For instance, a free refill I think is 5 spots, free hookah is like 8, free hookah and refill is like 10 but there is more than that. In addition, in order to get a spot, I believe you can get 1 per day for each hookah but don't quote me on that For the things I don't like, I don't like how it can get crowded on big nights such as fights, games, or movies that are being played but you can't blame the customers for loving the area! Even though that is something that is not really a big deal, there is this one (without offending anyone who reads this) mexican employee who does not seem to be very good in giving coals and arranging them. I mean come one, even a new person that was recently hired was better. Other than that, EVERY employee besides him is very nice, kick back, and understanding. They communicate well unlike this person. Overall, I highly recommend this place which is why my friends and I go almost every night! read more

I've been coming here for years. In fact looking through the reviews, it's a lot of people I know. But it's a great place. I used to go every night, now I go once or twice a month because of work and other things. But when I go all of the staff still remembers me, still gives me a hug and talks to me. My siblings both go pretty much every night also. It's got a lot of flavors, but if you;re a regular like me, you probably have like 3-4 that you order every time. They have some of the new heads that work really well and yes there is a $3 charge to use those heads, but it's worth it, because it hits better, and lasts much longer. This place is usually packed. Full of youngin's who aren't old enough and those who are but choose to spend their nights here just to chill and be away from the bar scene. There's usually a good mix of people and there's lot's of eye candy to peruse while billowing your cloud of fruit scented smog into the air. Good looking women, good hookah, and friends. What more can a person ask for? Good service, that's what! My friends and I were there on a Saturday night. The place wasn't packed, but still good. We managed to get a table right away. We chose what we wanted but had to wait about 10 minutes before anyone would take our order despite us putting the table light on to signify that we needed service. When we finally put in our order it took 10 mintues for the hookah to come out. Not too bad right? Do you know what's essential in smoking a good hookah? Coal. Nice hot coal. We didn't get any for about 20 minutes. We waited and looked around. Finally a guy came around to give everyone fresh coals. RIght when he gave the table next to us their coals he ran out the door to talk to his friends! My friends and I just kinda looked at each other in disgust and my friend said, "you better Yelp this place." I guess the only way you'll get any attention in this place is if you're a good looking girl. Hidden Cafe, I hope you receive the same amount of luck as The Hidden Kitchen and close down. read more

The staff here seem like they are miserable. It feels as if everyone is giving you the cold shoulder. Think you will get checked up on? Yeah right, you literally have to scream at them to come over and bring new coals. All this being said about the service, their coals are actually not bad and have a variety of tasty flavors. i always really like melon. There is an in n out in the plaza and we usually will get some grub and then come over here to lounge around. I remember when Hidden Cafe first open to replace the Nickel Nickel that went out of business. I've have seen it age through its many years of service and honestly, it was fun at first but not it's just a dump. At one point they had bouncers to regulate people getting in. I guess they abandoned it because the idea behind it was pretty lame. In any case, service is horrendous. Sometimes if not usually it takes forever to get seated let alone being approached by someone who will take your order. They clearly never clean their hookahs. The last time I went, they ran out of tips and explained to simply sanitize it by putting a lighter under it. WTF?! Not only is that ghetto but just stupid; the pipe is made out of plastic. I'm aware it's the only hookah lounge in a ten mile radius so I'm giving it a star for that factor. Plus sometime in the past month they reupholstered all their dirty and burnt benches and chairs. Been here twice and both times it was terrible. Service wasn't super terrible, but I just sat around for like 20 minutes before getting helped. The real downer is the crowd this place draws in. I've never had a worse time at a hookah bar. I went with a couple of my friends and we dropped nearly 200 dollars on different types of hookah, drinks and food and all we got from the servers was attitude. Every time we asked to order something else the waitress would roll her eyes so far back into her head I thought they were going to get stuck. They also tried to force our party of eight into a table with only four chairs while keeping a booth "reserved" for a different party. However, that party never actually showed up so we eventually demanded to be moved which they agreed to let us do after several complaints. Last year this place was the best and was my favorite spot for years. Matty and Ezra and Dustin left a while ago. Since then and most recently this place has sucked. Coals take forever and it's packed with kids. I've since found a new place!!! Titanium Hookah in Anaheim on the corner of State College and Ball!!!!!!!! Right behind El Torito and next to the Sahara strip joint. This place has better music and couches. Super friendly staff and manager. Happy hour from 6-9pm! Half priced hookah. Try it!!!!! Nice place but I'm a sucker for good customer service so it really pissed me off when I went there to buy some tobacco, and everyone I talked to were such assholes. Plus, I made sure there wasn't mint in the hookah I bought and he rudely said no. Next thing you know, I go home, pack a bowl and get a fat taste of mint. I like coming here with a group and hanging out for a bit. I usually come early in the evening though to avoid having to wait or putting up with groups of tittering Esperanza high schoolers. The drinks are pretty bad, so stick to bottled water. During peak hours you will have to wait for coals and once or twice they've forgotten my drinks or tobacco refill. It's close to home and they have a "frequent buyer card" which is a minor perk. Sometimes the music is too loud but it's still fun if you bring good company. read more

Customer service is horrible! They don't come to take your order until you flag them down, and then after you order, it takes over 30min to get your hookah and drinks, and my strawberry milkshake was made with way too much ice so it was watery! read more

I've been here once with friends. The service is ok. They tend to let in under age teens. The hookah I had made me sick. It just wasn't good quality stuff. From other people, I've heard that they use cheap coals that make the hookah really harsh. It's a small place, I suggest Twilight or Starbuzz instead. read more

This is one of the best hookah lounges i have been too in all my years of smoking hookah. its great the staff is super friendly and they give great service. the hookah it self is simply amazing. they have the best flavors. they have there own house mixes that some of workers make. My personal favorite is one that is made by a worker named Chris. his mix is fruity and zesty. i love it i highly recommend it. read more

I dont think I have ever been to this hookah lounge and had a good experience. Every single time I go there is a leak in the hookah. They are also extremely slow with coals. The only positive thing about this hookah lounge is that they use good flavors. Hits usually hit or miss if you have a mix of flavors Oh yea and dont even think about having a fruit head. Not expensive but you also don't get quality or service. I accidentally sat in the VIP section with a group of friends because let's just say this, the other customers got more attention then we did and there was nothing special about this area. They additionally, over played and replay music way too much. They also take forever on changing out your coals. There was NO FUN ATMOSPHERE as well. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE HOOKAHS STANDS LOOKED AND SMELLED LIKE THEY NEVER HAD BEEN WASHED. Each hit was GRIMMY. Me and my friends are never going back there. Descent hookah place. Prices are pretty cheap $8-12 and they also have a happy hour. Nothing special and the place is a little run down. The service is absolutely terrible, you will be waiting awhile to get more coals. the first time i went here my experience was great. they were quick on coal changing and kept asking if i needed anything. the second time i went there they were complete jerks. this one guy was very rude to my friend and i. service was slow and they waiter did the grossest thing...every time someone ordered a hookah he would bring it out and "test it out" for them. I have been going to Hidden for a VERY long time. They have half-price hookahs 6-8 p.m. which works great for me. I have tried many other hookah bars but they rarely impress. Hidden uses real and coconut charcoal, not those terrible instant light ones and they use top-notch Starbuzz tobacco. When it gets busy, service can be a little bit slow but overall this is a great hangout spot. read more

Today I was at hidden cafe everything was going good till a worker by the name Daneil was making fun of a girl she had came in from working at Disneyland she sat down on the right couch she got her hookah she was talking with the people around her he was talking about her weight and the way she look me has a woman and a plus size I was very offended and I did not appreciate the way he was talking to her we do not come here to be criticized about the way we look! we come here to enjoy the time and just chill and relax hearing his words that he was telling her makes me think how can you hire someone that is going to talk bad about someone's weight especially in front of other people she was embarrassed she started to tear up she ran to the bathroom to collect her self I went and knocked on the door to see if she was OK this isn't professional and something needs to be done I will not be returning back to the hookah lounge I'd rather spend my money somewhere else where a man like that will go and offend a woman about her weight not professional read more

We came here today against our will! Our friend insisted on this place and swore by it. I was craving hooka so i told my husband lets go try it. Place is only indoors no covered patio. This place is my absolute FAVORITE hookah bar! Aside from Starbuzz, I go here pretty often, because I always crave hookah and they are open from 11am-3pm and it's their lunch Happy Hour during this time :D Recently they had switched to coconut coals instead of the normal lemonwood coals, and the coconut ones last longer, burn better, and leave less of a mess. The atmosphere here is really good, and their service is bomb. The way they prepare the hookahs here is one of the reasons I come back, because they prepare it right and use starbuzz tobacco. When I come at night, I love it even more because they'll play bhangra or arabic music and it really makes it that much better when they do that! The dealio is that if you want some good hookah at a reasonable price, come to Hidden. I recommend Starbuzz as well because they offer a free refill, but it's more cozy at Hidden! read more
